AND IT BEGINS ...
Less than 24 hours after his acceptance speech, Barack Obama is working on creating his White House staff. To be expected. But the rumors and whispers came to fruition ... his first act as president-elect was to ask Democrat Illinois Rep. Rahm Emanuel to be his chief of staff. And you elected this guy to be the beacon of change? Rahm Emanuel is the epitome of old-school, established Washington partisan politics. He was a top dog washer for Bill Clinton from 1993 to 1998. In 2006, you can thank Rahm Emanuel for the Democrat take-over of the Congress ... he was the Chairman of the Democrat Congressional Campaign committee. This He recognized the fact that they Republicans had blown it. And he capitalized. Big time.
Before we go anywhere, did you know that Emanuel was once the senior advisor and chief fundraiser for Chicago's Richard Daley? He was at the forefront of this corrupt, Chicago-style politics that Barack Obama refused to stand up to. I guess that paid off. But why is Emanuel the ultimate backwards choice? Because he was part of Bill Clinton's inside circle when he was involved in all of these sex scandals. Monica Lewinsky, Gennifer Flowers, Juanita Broaderrick, Paula Jones. Do any of those ring a bell? And there was Rahm Emanuel ... standing right by his side ... working his buns off to make sure that Clinton's sexual escapades didn't become public. And it seems he didn't learn his lessons, because he knew about the sexual scandals in the race for Mark Foley's seat a few years ago, and denied, denied, denied, and the blamed it on Republicans. To Barack Obama's credit ... the guy has deep ties to the Jewish community. Maybe this will shape his willingness to meet with Ahmadinejad who has called for the destruction of Israel. Then again, maybe not. Let's keep watching the staffing choices. Hoping things get a bit better. ALL EYES ON GEORGIA
Well, for better or for worse, the Boortz Show really has to be on its game the next couple of weeks ... just when I'm feeling a bit lazy. (So, what else is new?) The nation will be tuning in to see Georgians Saxby Chambliss and that anti-FairTax liar Jim Martin battle it out for the Senate. We still have one county counting its votes, but it looks like it's going to be a runoff to be held December 2nd. Yesterday CNN was reporting that Chambliss had the 50%. Finally, when it came down to it, Chambliss missed it by 0.1% ... he ended up with 49.9% when he needed to get 50% of the popular vote.
The good news is that with Alan Buckley (also an anti-FairTax candidate) out of the race, we will have to see how many of those Libertarians will defect to the Republicans versus the Democrats. We'll see if Jim Martin has the onions to abandon this "Saxby Chambliss will add 23% to the price of everything that you buy" line and campaign on the truth. This is one of the big problems with the FairTax, it is easy to demagogue. Martin proved that in this Senate race. Let's see how many informed voters there are out there. AND SPEAKING OF THE FAIRTAX
The Republicans are really going to be looking for some sort of an agenda to carry them into the mid-term elections in two years. Do you think the FairTax could be that agenda? I still think back to the tens of thousands of people who showed up at FairTax rallies ... and the hundreds of thousands of dedicated volunteers who still today are spreading the FairTax word. Two big obstacles: First, with the FairTax in place how would Obama have won this election? That "tax cut for 95% of Americans" line brought him victory. It was a con, but it brought him victory. With the FairTax that line would have been impossible ... since 100% of Americans wouldn't have been paying income taxes anyway. Secondly, there's the demagogue thing. Your opinions? THE UNIONS ARE SALIVATING Unions in this country just can't wait for Barack Obama to move into the White House and Nancy and Harry to assume their thrones in Congress. If the unions get this card check bill, you can kiss Wal-Mart goodbye. Here's the latest report:"Mike Asensio, a attorney who heads the labor relations practice team at the law firm of Baker Hostetler, said there probably will be enough votes in the Senate to withstand a filibuster and get some form of the legislation passed. 'Labor has been fighting for 14 years through political contributions to have a voice ...They now have a Democrat in the White House who will sign labor reform,' he said. House Labor Committee Chairman George Miller, a California Democrat, said on Wednesday that Democrats in the next Congress 'will fight to restore workers' rights.'"
Here we go, folks. The real danger may not lie in a Barack Obama presidency. It lies in a filibuster-proof Democrat Senate and a Democrat House majority. How long will it be before the union organizers show up at your workplace? Answer: Days after the "card check" bill is passed. I wonder how many people voted themselves out of a job this week? WHERE ARE ALL YOU SINGLE WOMEN?
All you single women out there, it seems as though your screams were heard loud and clear: "I want my mommy!" You voted in record numbers to put Democrats in the White House and Congress. Unmarried woman supported Barack Obama by a 70% to 29% margin. And this should really tell you something ... there was a 44-point difference between the voting behavior of married versus unmarried women. Married woman already had their security ... single women were looking for it. In fact, based on the Edison/Mitofsky National Election Pool published by CNN, if it weren't for your overwhelming support of the Chosen One, John McCain would have won the women vote and the White House. I'm going to go out on a limb and say there are two factors at play. Unmarried women didn't like Sarah Palin maybe they were intimidated by her ability to be a woman, a mother of 5, a governor, and be able to handle a shot gun. And unmarried women are eager to suckle the government teat. They feel insecure. They don't have a husband to provide ... so the government becomes their husband. Not a bad deal, I guess. The government provides you with the safety net you would normally get from a good marriage, and you're free to mess around pretty much as much as you want! They are just begging to be the beneficiaries of government and all the mediocrity it has to offer. LETTER FROM BELINDA'S MOTHER Hi Beebee - Glad to see you made it thru the election events. Your comments just got me to thinking about what has just happened in this election. Well I guess it doesn't matter much now what we think. For years I have feared then day when 'there gets to be more of them than there is of us'. I don't mean Black either ! I mean those who are so self-serving and stand with their hands out to grab off their 'rights' and freebies. It has almost happened a few times in the past but we managed to squeak by and save the country from a land-office lottery. Once we have lost control it is most likely we will never get it back - at least in my lifetime. At my age just about all they can do is annoy me - at yours they can beat you down with rules, regulations, and taxes. The new Capital gains 'change' can strip from you everything that I have worked for and saved for your future. Already we have lost a third of the value of our savings and stocks, now if ever we can sell them we lose in taxes. Thru the years we have managed, thru a great deal of hard work, self-denial, and investment accumulate some real estate to pass on to you children. Now the proposed 'death tax' will rob you of everything I worked for you to have. I am sorry - so sorry. The way it turned out, we should have just worked enough to provide for your basic needs, stayed home with you more, not involved ourselves in community affairs, and lived for the moment with any excess dollars we might have had. The ultimate financial outcome would have been the same but maybe at least we could have been better parents. We were busy serving our customers, taking care of our patients, working to improve the community, sometimes to the detriment of our family. I guess we were just of the 'old school' where we were taught to be self-sufficient, save for the future, give back to the community , take care of your family and all would be well. I really do not resent any group, black -white, young-old having a chance to succeed. Everyone deserves that but for us older folks, the rules changed in the middle of the game and because of this 'change' our world has been turned upside down. Our generation was built on the depression era of our Fathers and those fears and ideals we tried to pass on to your generation. I do not mean to cause you anxiety or depression but these are simply the facts for thousands of seniors in the new and 'CHANGED' society. This transition to 'Change' will be most disconcerting. It is almost like suddenly finding out 'there is no God'. You lose everything you ever believed in................. Love, Mother |
SOMETHING TO KEEP YOUR EYE ON
Joe Biden said that Barack Obama would be tested with international crisis. Well it seems that the Russians have taken that message to heart. President Dmitry Medvedev decided that now would be a good time for Russia to set up short-range missile systems on the eastern boarder of the EU. Okay, I know. Obama isn't president yet. But this will be a situation he will have to handle. In a nut shell, the United States has signed a deal to place a radar tracking in the Czech Republic and 10 interceptor missiles in Poland. Russia isn't too pleased. Barack Obama's opinion on the situation? He has none. Back in July of 2008, Polish officials didn't want to bring up the subject with Obama because they didn't want to "raise a controversial issue." But Obama has questioned the "logic of deploying a missile-defense system in Eastern Europe before the technology has been proven." Maybe Russia won't have anything to worry about after all. FEELING THE LOVE!
Subject: sad situation Name: steve Message: Boortz, you are a sad individual. You have absolutely no class, no character, and botton line you are nothing more than a low-rent thug. Your hatred and short temper for anyone that does not share your opinions make you a very dangerous and disliked individual. I don't like you but I do pray for you because I do believe you lost your soul.
Subject: Obama's victory Name: Hammad Message: Today is the end of the brand of politics that you have been promoting: fear mongering, name calling, nanny state for the rich, race baiting, and support of entrenched privilege at home and militarism abroad. It is a poetic justice for locked in the pre-sxities mindset crowd that a black man, and moreover a black man with a "correct" middle name, is going to rule over you and your ignorant, gun clinging, high school drop out white trash supporters for 8 more years, and you cant do a thing about it, with all your vitriolic nonsense.
Subject: Profound Negativity Name: Charley Message: You. Have. No. Hope. Judging by today's edition of Neal's Nuze (you spell that *so* well - gubinmint schools, perhaps?), you have become talk radio's foremost pessimist. Do you really think that's entertaining? Is that what you call "quality radio broadcasting"? If this is what you *really* think your listeners want to hear, your ratings are about to fall precipitously. Yes, I voted for Barack Obama. No, I am not hypnotized, mesmerized, bamboozled or blindfolded. I warrant that I have done my homework as well as you have. What do I have that you do not? Hope...optimism...enthusiasm...even - OMG - patriotism! Yes, patriotism! Think back to when you espoused that it was unpatriotic to dissent against President Bush's policies after September 11th. You said then that Bush should be supported unconditionally, unwaveringly..."Why do they hate America?", you asked. "Bush is *every* American's President...", you said. Well, Barack Obama will soon be our President. Let me emphasize that - OUR President. Please, do yourself, your listeners and your ratings a favor - lighten up.
Subject: Boortz you ignorant slut Name: barry Message: I cannot believe what you said this morning. You didn't want to rain on the dems parade today. You felt as though they should be allowed to celebrate their great victory. I don't believe that the day after 9/11 you thought that the terrorist should have been allowed a day in which to celebrate? Our American way of life is under attack by socialism, the very thing which we've fought wars over. For myself I will not give them any praise, nor any respite from our attempts to honor all those who have fought and died for this nation.... READING ASSIGNMENTS Tonight in Atlanta, Neal's favorite local artist, Steve Penley, will be signing his new book, The Reconstruction of Atlanta. In case you missed it, you can listen to the special election Meeting of the Mouths roundtable we aired yesterday with Boortz, Clark Howard, Herman Cain, Jamie Dupree and Scott Slade trying to keep everyone in line. Listen here: stream | download Businesses out there got the message ... stocks yesterday had the biggest post-election drop in history. Dick Morris always manages to put thing into perspective. Here's what he has to say about the realities facing President-elect Barack Obama. Obama gets his first in-depth intelligence briefing today. He's in for a rude awakening. Let the comparisons of Barack Obama to Ronald Reagan begin ... Obama is off to a great start in choosing his White House staff. Who is going to make up the rest of the cast of characters? In case you didn't know, suddenly it is "cool" to be an American again. You can thank the Associated Press for this report. Will George Bush's legacy be ... Barack Obama? I've said it before, Barack Obama is the creation of the Republican Party. The House is already working furiously get an economic stimulus package passed by the end of this month. Relentless. The battle for 2010 has already begun. You'll be happy to hear that Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio won his election easily. The unions are boasting about their role in getting Barack Obama elected ... particularly in the state of Ohio. Michael Crichton passed away yesterday. Too bad. He loved to yank the chains of the manmade global warming crowd. Something interesting to take note of ... exit polls from Tuesday show that more people in this country still consider themselves conservative versus liberal. Poor Joe Biden never got the invite to be a guest on SNL. Don't worry, that's about to change. Snopes is determined to figure out whether our story about "Le-a" is, in fact, true. Biggest post-election stock market slump in history. How about a global warming update? We all know that global warming is causing real trouble with hurricanes, right? Well, it seems that the 2008 hurricane season was the calmest in 30 years. |
