JUST WHO DO YOU BELONG TO?

Sounds like an odd question, doesn't it? But have you ever actually thought for a moment about who has ownership rights to you? This is no silly or meaningless exercise here. You exist. You have value. That value belongs to someone. The question is who? This is an important question in this election because there are quite a lot of people out there who earnestly believe that you belong not to yourself, but to the government. For the first time in my memory we have a presidential candidate who wants to raise taxes on a few not so much to cover the costs of the essential functions of government, but to bring about some sense of what he calls "fairness" in the distribution of wealth. This would mean that in the eyes of this particular presidential candidate (I would mention his name, but that would be racist.) the government owns a portion of you; a portion to be used by the government to enrich the lives of others in the quest for economic "fairness."

Let me know how this works out for you.

BACK ON IN TAMPA!!!

The Boortz Show is back on in Tampa! Catch us 9pm-midnight on WGUL 860AM. Support the show on WGUL and hopefully we can move up to being on live.

WHAT HAVE I BEEN TELLING YOU?

Let's see ... for about 14 years now I have been telling you that the Clinton administration (mentioning his name isn't racist) had been considering a plan to levy a one-time tax on the value of all privately owned pension and 401K plans in this country. The were stopped by the voter revolution of 1994 .. a revolution betrayed, by the way, by the Republican Party.

How likely is it that an additional tax will be levied against outstanding 401k balances under an Obama administration?
highly likely
somewhat likely
not likely
Could something like this happen in an Obama administration? (OK, I mentioned his name. Hate speech! So I'm racist.) Maybe you should turn your attention to what is happening in Argentina. The Argentine president, Cristina Kirchner, has just announced that she is going to nationalize all private pensions in Argentina. That would be $30 billion in private retirement accounts. All that money is going to become government property.

Here's an excerpt from The Wall Street Journal story covering this outrage:

"Mrs. Kirchner won't have trouble making the case for expropriation to Congress, which is controlled by her fellow Peronists. When the Argentine government ran out of money in 2001, it blamed the market and increased its own role in the economy. Since then it has imposed price controls, defaulted on its debt, seized dollar bank accounts, devalued the currency, nationalized businesses and tried to set confiscatory tax rates with the aim of making society more 'fair.'"

Dawgonnit! Now that sounds just a wee bit familiar, doesn't it?

Do you think the MoveOn Democrat/Socialist party would have trouble getting something like this by the U.S. Supreme Court? Remember, please, Kelo vs. New London. Also consider the recent forced seizure of a good portion of several large financial institutions in this country. Oh sure, the owners of those pension plans would have to be given something in value in return for their seized assets. That value would be the intrinsic value of the government services and benefits that would accrue to all U.S. citizens from the spending of the seized funds.

Oh ... but you're right, of course. That could never happen here.

NEAL ON TV TODAY!

Catch Boortz on Neil Cavuto's show on the Fox News Channel at around 4:05pm ET. They will be talking about the Market and Obama.

EVEN? I THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO BE A LANDSLIDE

And it probably still will be. But these polls are mighty interesting. After the last debate, John McCain has pulled essentially dead even with Barack Obama among likely voters in an AP poll. We are talking Obama with 44% of the vote and John McCain with 43%. Republicans and Democrats are privately complaining that one of the main reasons why the race has tightened is because of Joe the Plumber.

And here's something interesting ... McCain posted his biggest gains among voters earning under $50,000 a year. He used to trail Obama by 26%. Now he only trails by 4%. Could these be the people who are looking to a successful future, but don't like the prospect of being punished for their success?

THE MENTALITY OF FAIRNESS DOCTRINE SUPPORTERS

Here we have New Mexico Senator Jeff Bingaman, a Democrat. He is one of these Senators who will soon be serving in a Democrat Senate that will have unfettered power – with Barack Obama in the White House, possibly 60 Democrat senators and maybe 250 Democrat representatives.

So Senator Bingaman went on a talk radio show and proclaimed his support for the return of the Fairness Doctrine. Here's a little bit of his reasoning:

"Radio and media generally should have a higher calling than just reflecting a particular point of view. They should use their authority, their broadcast power, to present an informed discussion of public issues ... The country was well served [by the Fairness Doctrine]. Public discussion was at a higher lever and more intelligent in those days than it has become since."

So there you go. This Senator, who will soon be leading this country without any speed bumps stopping him, believes that we should bring back the Fairness Doctrine because our discussion will be more intelligent. In that case, if that is really your goal – to present intelligent, informed discussion – let's get rid of Entertainment Tonight. And while you are at it, American Idol and these sleazy MTV reality TV shows. And maybe BET as well.

Don't let this guy fool you, folks. The Fairness Doctrine is not about intelligent, informed discussion. It is about power – the power sought by all despots to shut down the opposition.

PEOPLE ARE CATCHING ON, OBAMA

Unfortunately, not enough of them. This is Barack Obama's latest defense of his tax policies, which McCain and many are labeling as socialist. Obama says that all he wants to do is "nothing more than to reverse the cuts for wealthy Americans that John McCain opposed when they were enacted." That's it? That is really why he thinks people are calling his tax plan socialist? How about increasing taxes on those evil rich, and then giving welfare checks to people who don't even pay taxes? I guess he forgot to mention that part of his plan.

Remember ... as I said above, Obama will be the first president to increase taxes solely for the purpose of income redistribution, not for the purpose of funding the essential operations of government. That's a HUGE change.

Too bad the average voter will see that statement and think nothing beyond that.

NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED

In Pasco, Washington, there is a man by the name of Shyan Din. Din owns a gas station. So the other day, Din decides that he wants to charge $2.99 for regular gasoline at his station. Great. The "problem" is that $2.99 is about 30 cents cheaper than the average price for gasoline in the area.

So word got out about the cheap gas prices. People drove from all over the area just to save 30 cents per gallon to fill up their tanks. What happens? A lot of people show up. Traffic gets backed up. People start getting angry and maybe even getting into accidents.

So here comes the local county code enforcement officer to tell Din that he is causing a hazard. "Code enforcement and business registration rules regulate that any business be responsible for the conduct it creates, including any public nuisances."

So what's going to happen? Din, a small business owner, has to renew his license at the end of the year. If he doesn't find ways to properly manage the traffic, and the idiots who can't control themselves, the county commission could choose not to renew his license. (This isn't my BS, it's listed in the article as a possibility.)

Din says that the government is punishing him for offering lower gas prices, and that he should be able to charge whatever he wants. He says, "I think it's my right. This is a free market, a free country ... But traffic controlling is not my job."

So here's a guy who is charging a lower price for a commodity. What happens? The people want it. Then government comes along and basically says: if you continue doing this, we are going to put you out of business.

GOVERNMENT IDIOT OF THE DAY

For today, this title goes to Burleigh County (North Dakota) Commission Chairman Jerry Woodcox. In a debate on how to grow his county, Woodcox set us straight on your property rights:

"Any kind of a plan, if it's a good plan and a progressive plan is going to take some property rights, but that's part of our job - to channel evolvement, to get a good development, to have it proper and do it right."

Who needs individual property rights when you have government!

YOU FOLKS HAVE REALLY BEEN CRANKING OUT THE HATE MAIL

Here are some typical emails to the Neal Boortz Show lately ...

  • Subject: stop!
    Name: demarius

It's a shame, that you spend your whole day spreading hate across the air waves the way you do. Neal you say day after day that most blacks will vote oboma just cause he's black..... and that you don't blame them, so what about those idiots that won't vote for him cause of his skin tone. Oboma is the man who's gonna bring peace across the world.. To me he's what is needed, don't get me wrong i have white friends and a baby by a white lady. But right now white folks are not trustworthy to anyboby across the world.... Time to turn the white house black!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Subject: sad and pathetic
    Name: Julia

I listened to you today and other days and I don't think I have ever heard a more pathetic sad individual other than the other haters such as Hannity, Gallager, Limbar (not sure if it is spelled correctly but considering what you guys stand for, it doesn't really matter. You through out this hate daily and I realized that the people that you appeal to are filled with hate as well. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, however, you guys are so sad, jealous, pathetic and will have to answer to God when it's all over. I used to wonder what they meant about the difficulty a rich man would have getting into heaven, now I understand. People don't believe that Obama is Jesus, but I see that you guys do. I wonder if others see the same image that I see when I hear you make those statements, 4 horrible men beating Jesus, how sad. Your opinions mean nothing to anyone but you and the sad people who filled with just as much hate as you. I'm sure you are proud of yourself while we pity you. When your time comes I would hope that you would have made some peace with God, I'm sure he will be waiting. God Bless You.

  • Subject: SO MAD!
    Name: Atonia Shellman

    Message:
I listen to you almost everyday because you help keep me grounded. You assure me that I'm doing the right thing by voting for OBAMA. If you are so mad and rude all of the time on the radio and you're encouraging people to vote for McCain then surely McCain must be just like you. Also your two side kicks must be the same way too. Try letting those who don't agree with speak freely, stop cutting them off. Just know and understand that all bad things must come to an end. It's time to paint the white house BLACK! LOL! OBAMA your President (OoooK)

Note, please, the racial undertones of at least two of these emails. I'm referring to that "Paint the White House black" thing. You would not believe how many emails we get every day that contain the "We're going to get you whitey" theme in one way or another. Now ... go back and read the warning label at the top of Nealz Nuze.

I'm sure feeling the love here.

UPDATE ON THE BEAST

Some of you may know that we've been in a real battle with out 16-year-old Papillion Coco and his infected eye. Well, yesterday that eye had to be removed. Coco is doing fine this morning. We're going to get him an eye patch and a parrot.

I bring this up because I want to sing the praises of Dr. Michael Good at the Town 'n Country Veterinary clinic in Marietta, Georgia. All of the odds were against a 16-year-old, five pound dog making it through this operation .. but by last night Coco was trotting around the house and barking up a storm. Dr. Good is a true and dedicated lover of animals. He formed and operates The Homeless Pet Foundation ... and will do anything to see that a homeless animal is adopted rather than put down. Here's a link to his foundation. Donna and I are going to make a fat donation. Maybe some of you animal lovers might want to send a few bucks his way ... maybe even buy one of those cute collegiate tags you see on the site.

Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio has opened a veterinary hospital to give advanced medical treatment for combat-wounded dogs.

After weeks of threatening phone calls, vandals in Murfreesboro, Tennessee finally smashed the windows of the Republican headquarters by throwing a brick with an anarchy symbol on it.

For our listeners in Jacksonville, you will have the chance in November to vote on whether you want to drop the name Nathan Bedford Forrest from a local high school ... because he was an early leader of the KKK.

You celebrity worshippers out there, are you ready? The new James Bond, Daniel Craig, says that Barack Obama would make a better James Bond than John McCain.

Miss Teen Louisiana has been stripped of her crown after skipping out on a restaurant bill and accidentally leaving her purse behind ... which was filled with marijuana. Twit.

The nuts over at Daily Kos seem to think that it's John McCain that's the socialist. What are they smoking over there?
