BAILOUT PASSES THE SENATE
Just a couple of points ... we'll cover it in more depth (and in an entertain way, of course) on the air today. It wasn't just a bailout. There were a lot of goodies added in for both political parties. Some spending here, some tax breaks there, and some additional government regulations somewhere else. Health insurance companies are now going to be required to include mental health care on parity with care of physical illnesses. Do you have any idea how much this is going to include the premiums on virtually every health insurance plan out there? This will cause more people to drop insurance ...followed immediately with politicians screaming about the dire need for what is, but what they won't call socialized medicine. The ultimate goal here is to gain more control of you by controlling your access to health care. Making private health insurance policies difficult to buy and maintain is part of the plan. Buried somewhere in the bailout bill is a tax break for some company that makes some particular type of wooden arrow that is used by some children somewhere. Feel good about that? Wait until you see what the House members add on. There is no way in hell that this will be the last bailout. The die is cast. The foundation is set. Look for the next one coming around the corner in the middle of the night with its headlights off and on the wrong side of the road. Subject to change .. and subject to a sudden sense of maturity descending on the American voter ... but I think John McCain's vote for this bailout ended his chances in the election. And remember, please, that the evidence is clear: This mess was caused by the Democrats refusal to reign in Fannie and Freddie. The Republicans wanted to, and tried. The Democrats said no. Now you pay. I HOPE YOU ARE READY
I really think that John McCain threw away the election when he voted for the bailout bill last night. Some maverick. Some leadership. Are you people prepared to have a socialist in the White House? This really needs to sink into your heads. Starting January 20th, you can begin to celebrate a new relationship with your federal government ... a federal government that will have more say in how you live your life. It's hard to believe that our government can grow even bigger than it is today. The fact of the matter is that it will. With Barack Obama as president of the United States, you can rest assured that the government will have more of a say in your healthcare, your retirement, your savings, your taxes, your spending, your children's education, and that's just the beginning.
The reality is that most Americans are okay with this ... they see nothing wrong with it. After all, it is government that makes this country great, right? And it is a president that is going to go to Washington and solve all of your problems. Right? As of yesterday, Barack Obama was leading in swing state polls. Not only was he leading, he was crushing John McCain. Here are the statistics: Florida: Obama - 51% McCain - 43% Ohio: Obama - 50% McCain - 42% Pennsylvania: Obama - 54% McCain - 39%
This is, to say the least, alarming. We have lost this country to Entertainment Tonight watchers, celebrity worshippers, jock-sniffers. know-everything college students and those who depend on government entitlements. Conservatives are going to lose this election to people who register to vote based on the fact that Jay-Z is going to host a concert for Obama ... or maybe it will be that Communist sympathizing band, the Decemberists. John McCain has lost this election for two reasons ... he couldn't convince enough people that he wants less government in your life and he couldn't convince enough people that he wants more government in your life. LOU DOBBS ON DEMOCRACY
Listening to Lou Dobbs on CNN yesterday and was floored by something he said. Dobbs is not in favor of the bailout. I mean REALLY not in favor of the bailout. Yesterday he was talking about how his email, and congressional phone calls were overwhelmingly against the bailout proposal. Then he started talking about Democracy and majority rule. Now I'm paraphrasing here, but Dobbs said something like "I thought we had majority rule! Don't the majority get what they want? This is a Democracy, right?" I couldn't believe it. If someone with the prestige and position of Lou Dobbs doesn't understand the basic concept of rule of law and the design of our country, what real hope is there? VOTING IN OHIO
Yesterday, people began early voting in Ohio. Just to give you a better idea of the people who have a hand in electing Barack Obama (Ohio is a swing state, after all), take a look at this video produced by some college reporter. She talks to a guy who is trying to promote a free taxi program to register homeless people to vote. Yes, really. And who do the homeless people seem to be supporting. Easy. Barack Obama. Here is an exact quote from someone, who I assume is one of the homeless voters, on how he formulated his choice for president of the United States: "Barack! I mean, I want him to do his thang. You know, do his thug thizzle. You know. That's how I like it to be. You know. (laughs)." We need educated voters, informed voters; voters who have a clue. There is no right to vote in this election ... and our country is ill-served by a bunch of "I'm a college student and I know it all" fools running around hauling drunk, drug addicted urban outdoorsmen to the polls. THE BATTLE OF GAFFES
The debate between Sarah Palin and Joe Biden is tonight. Who knows, maybe it will attract more viewers than Barack Obama and John McCain last Friday night. But the consensus is pretty clear: all Joe Biden needs to do is refrain from saying something remotely silly, and he has won. Everyone, the media especially, will be hanging on to every last word that Sarah Palin says. I think it was Belinda the other day who said that the McCain campaign hasn't let Sarah Palin be Sarah Palin ... and this is coming back to bite them. Big time.
The person who came onto the national stage and energized the Republican party ... that person has been stifled. And it is the campaign's fault. But even if Sarah Palin comes out swinging tonight, it won't matter either. Hate to tell you this, but the media already has their stories written. All they have to do is fill in some blanks after the actual words are said tonight. . Take a look at stories like this ... in her interview with Katie Couric (which wasn't impressive, to say the least), Sarah Palin didn't specify which news sources she reads. Yep, an entire news story devoted to the fact that Sarah Palin wouldn't throw out just one name: USA Today, Fox News, nada. This, of course, means that she doesn't read. Right? Look, folks. In tonight's debate, the John McCain campaign could use a boost. In fact at this point, think of it more like a lifeline. This debate may be a make-or-break deal for John McCain.
JUST KEEP THE HATE MAIL COMING! (BY THE WAY, I'M NOT A REPUBLICAN)
Subject: Immaturity of American Voter Name: Corbett It's always some excuse with you Republicans. You present us with John McCain as your candidate & then call the American voters immature because they want nothing to do with the author of McCain-Feingold, the man who voted against tax cuts & the man who sabotaged the nomination of conservative judges.
When will you people grow up? Grown up people take responsibility for their mistakes. They don't blame others and they don't call people names for disagreeing with them.
You people nominated a sure loser. You knew he was a loser when you nominated him. Accept the responsibility for your actions & accept the inevitable defeat gracefully.
And be prepared to leave the country because Obama is going to destroy what little bit GWB has left of our liberty. READING ASSIGNMENTS How about a little insight into Nancy Pelosi. Seriously, folks. Read this. In about four months this woman, along with Harry Reid and Barack Obama, are going to be running the entire show. The media isn't too fond of a "sarcastic" John McCain. Me? I LOVE sarcasm. A new citizenship test has been unveiled. At least they got rid of the question, "Name the amendments that guarantee or address voting rights." But it looks like it didn't get much better. Now I wonder if this new test had anything to do with my conversation with the person who wrote the last one a few months ago. Here's a list of the 10 things that will change thanks to this financial crisis. Actually, they aren't really changes, just a return to the past. When it comes to the Vice Presidential candidates, here is an article about how each of them differ on how they are going to "protect your wallet." There is a one in four chance that John McCain would not survive a second term as president. Don't worry, that assumes he will win the first term. The size of government has grown tremendously, but the people's biggest worry ... the national debt is getting so large that it won't fit on the national debt clock near Times Square in New York City. Vandals decided to spray paint an image of Barack Obama on the side of the building housing their local Republican campaign headquarters. Yet another article about Barack Obama and his race. This one from Bloomberg: Obama Backers Worry His Race Will Hurt Him in "Middletown, USA." When you can't sell cars, launch a website! That's the plan for General Motors. Hikers in California believe they have found items belonging to Steve Fossett. It is not illegal for government school teachers to hand out fliers inviting students to attend a religious workshop on a Christian approach to peer pressure, at least in San Leandro, California. "Walking" is now the official state exercise of Maryland. And that is just the beginning of the list of ridiculous laws passed in Maryland. The federal government is proposing the addition of 48 species native to Hawaii to the endangered species list, including plants, birds and a type of fly. This is the mentality of government ... at least it's Great Britain: A city council is asking people to leave their sheds open because it costs the taxpayers more money to repair or replace sheds that are ruined by thieves forcing through padlocks.
