So ... the words are all here, but the formatting may be a bit strange.  Deal with it.

GUSTAV

The Boortz show has some reporters in position on the Gulf coast to keep us up to speed on the effects of Hurricane Gustav.  We've delayed our departure to St. Paul until later today to make sure that we cover both stories, the hurricane and the GOP convention, as thoroughly as possible.

PALIN V. OBAMA AS CORRUPTION FIGHTER

With all the muss 'n fuss over the hurricane I just don't have the opportunity to put this in the notes ... but I'll get to it --- promise.  I just think that some comparison needs to be made between The Chosen One and Sarah Palin when it comes to government reform.

Here's your preview.  I'm going to show you that Barack Obama was brought up in the Chicago Democrat political machine ... a hotbed of corruption and influence peddling if ever there was one.  We will show that there were plenty of opportunities for Obama to speak out against this Democrat machine corruption – but every time an opportunity presented itself, Obama said "who, me?"  Palin, on the other hand, has a history of going after her own party, even her own party chairman, when there is corruption to be exposed and fought.

When it comes to reform and fighting corruption, Obama can't hold a candle to Sarah Palin.  Then again, when it comes to tax and spend ... and playing the class warfare game by soaking the nasty, vile, evil rich ... Obama wins in a landslide.

THE EXPECTED CRITICISM

With John McCain's choice of the relatively unknown Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin, the media has already picked up on her first apparent weakness: her lack of experience.  To do this they have to paint Obama as much more experienced than Palin.  That, my friends, is a stretch.

Here is a prime example of what I mean ... the liberal columnists and editors are pathetically trying to push Obama's experience.  Here is one editorial from the Mercury News in California:

"Republicans will argue that Palin is no less experienced than Obama. That's ridiculous. In the Senate, in organizing a stunningly successful national campaign and through 18 months of hard campaigning for the nomination, Obama proved to be as capable, articulate and knowledgeable as anyone in Congress — and certainly the equal of McCain."

"Proved to be capable?"  Articulate, we'll give you that.  That's all Obama has, basically ... he speaks good ... as long as there's a teleprompter around.  Put him on his own and you get the ems, uhs and ahs full force.

And his Senate experience and campaign organizing ability?

Point 1:  Obama actually was in the Senate for about 143 days before he announce for the presidency and essentially became a part time Senator.

Point 2:  Obama didn't organize the campaign.  He brought in some very capable people to do that for him.  What he proved here is that he can hire effective people.  Who's to say Palin can't?

So there you have it, Obama is qualified to be president because he has proved to run a "stunningly successful national campaign."  There will be more like this.  But we can safely say that the experience card isn't going to work.

AND YOU WON'T BELIEVE THIS ATTACK ON PALIN

Where does it come from? That would be the ultra-left wing website The Daily Kos – the closest thing those on the left have to a Bible.   You can get the details on this Amanda Carpenter column at Townhall.com ... but to give you the Reader's Digest version. Left-wing bloggers are saying that Sarah Palin's newborn daughter – the one with Down's Syndrome – is actually her daughters; her 16-year-old daughters.  Now remember ... it's us right-wingers who are so full of evil and hate ... right?

OBAMA'S LATEST AD

The theme that emerged out of the Democrat convention and will likely continue until the election in November is ... "eight is enough."  The Obama campaign sees its best chance at defeating McCain by continuing to link McCain to George Bush.  So far, this doesn't seem to be sticking.  On Friday, we also put to rest the notion that John McCain has not voted with George Bush "90% of the time" on the issues that matter.  I'm not talking about votes honoring the local Little League for their recent victory; I'm talking about issues that have the potential to affect us as a nation.

If you will recall ... we took a list of 31 crucial votes since the 109th congress.  We eliminated from that list all unanimous Senate votes ... and figured out that McCain actually votes "with Bush,"  (That means with the Republicans), about 45% of the time when the vote is (1) meaningful and, (2) not unanimous.  Again .. only a Democrat with Bush Derangement Syndrome could get his boxers in a wad over McCain voting "with Bush" on a resolution commending a basketball team.

So even after choosing Sarah Palin as his running mate – a woman who is the epitome of a "Washington outsider" – the Obama camp is still trying to pin John McCain to George Bush.  Here's the latest Obama ad.

By the way ... George Bush and Dick Cheney not speaking at the Republican convention is a blessing for the McCain camp and takes away a prime target for the Obama camp – Bush campaigning for McCain.

GIVING BACK

The Obama campaign is putting his national e-mail list to use ... mobilizing his supporters to volunteer or send contributions to victims of Hurricane Gustav.  Now take a look at the way Barack Obama is approaching the situation: "We can activate an e-mail list of a couple million people who want to give back."

Here we go again with the phrase "give back."  Lordy how I hate that phrase.  It's a favorite with the left because by saying that an act of charity is "giving back," you are saying that whatever the charitable person has that they want to donate to a worthy cause was given to them, not earned.  This is a constant theme with Democrats.  You have what you have because it was given to you, not because you actually busted your buns and earned it.  And since it was given to you in the first place, it is totally ok for the government to take it from you to give to someone else – just to make things fair.

WHAT WOULD OBAMA SAY?

Israel is now saying that there is no way that Iran is going to be allowed to develop nuclear weapons.  Sounds pretty serious, especially with Iran working 24/7 with 4000 centrifuges to purify uranium.  Doesn't Israel know that Obama is ready to go talk to the Mad Mullahs at any time?  That will solve everything.

By the way ... "What Would Obama Say" translates nicely into WWOS ... which, in my mind anyway, would be pronounced "Wusssssss"

... AND THE POOR KEEP GETTING POORER ... BLAH BLAH BLAH

I have a little question about this "rich keep getting richer" thing that The Chosen One is so fond of pushing.  The IRS recently released some data covering income figures for the 10-year period from 1996 to 2005.  There are four Bush years in there.  How do you think that the bottom one-fifth of income earners did during that period?  Well, it would seem that they saw their income increase by 91%.  And what about the top one-fifth --- the "rich?"  Their income went down by 26%.  For all taxpayers the increase was 26%.  Hey ... don't yell at me, these are IRS figures.

READING ASSIGNMENTS:

The former chairman of the DNC believes that Gustav's timing with the Republican National Convention "just demonstrates that God's on our side."  Later Don Fowler apologized – not for his remark, but if anyone was offended by his remark – and said that the person who taped him was a "right-wing nut case."

Here are the latest Zogby polls that show how voters feel about the Vice Presidential choices.

In rock star fashion ... 38 million people tuned in to watch Obama's speech at the DNC.  That's more than the Olympics opening ceremony in Beijing, the final "American Idol" or the Academy Awards this year.

This story actually came out of the Times of London: Sarah Palin: conservatives find the girl of their dreams.

Sarah Palin had a few things to say about Joe Biden and our energy policy.  These Vice Presidential debates should be interesting.

The Politico wants to know: Can conservative talk radio stop Obama?  If it doesn't, then Obama will certainly stop conservative talk radio.

This is an excellent run-down of Obama's 'Blueprint for Change' ... and how much more government he wants in your lives.

The Wall Street Journal says that Obama needs to come clean on his relationship with Bill Ayers, Tony Rezko and others. Yeah .. like that's going to happen.

Most Americans don't share the Democrat's pessimism about the US economy.

You knew this one was coming ... from the Washington Post: Is race involved in the criticism of Obama's "temple"?  Why of course it is!  Race is involved in EVERY criticism of The Chosen One.

We've brought this to your attention before, but now that Governor Palin is McCain's VP pick ... she's the one that filed a lawsuit against the federal government for listing of the polar bear as "threatened."

In the wake of Gustav, Ron Paul is upset with the notion that government "must bail everybody out."

Many people are upset with an anti-gun billboard in Massachusetts which reads "We Sell Guns! Criminals and Terrorists Welcome!"

An illegal immigrant in Virginia was convicted of manslaughter after killing someone in a drunk driving accident.  He is now being shipped back to Mexico.

Fat police officers in Great Britain are being banned from traffic duty unless they lose weight.

On par with winning the lottery ... a former American Idol is now having financial troubles.

You can't make this stuff up folks ... an elderly woman at a Swedish airport misunderstood the directions to check her luggage, placing herself, rather than her baggage, on the conveyor belt.  You know what happens next.

And now for a 61lbs child ... who is 11 months old
