OUR AFLAC CARE-A-THON

All is normal on The Neal Boortz Show today ... except for one important thing. We'll be broadcasting from the Aflac Cancer Center at the Children's Hospital in Atlanta. This is our Care-A-Thon, our yearly effort to tell you of the wonderful job the Aflac Cancer Center does in treating childhood cancer and blood disorders in children from around the country – and to ask you to donate some of your hard-earned cash to help these wonderful people and these incredible children. We're truly emotionally invested in this ... so give us a hand.

WE'VE SOLVED THE MYSTERY OF BUILDING SEVEN!

All you Alex Jones types ... your 9/11 building 7 conspiracy theories have come to an end. No longer can you call my radio show and yap, "9/11 was an inside job! What about building 7 ... blah blah blah." The Washington Times reports that scientists with the National Institute of Standards and Technology have completed their three year investigation of the building's collapse, and they say the science behind their findings is "incredibly conclusive."

The investigation concluded that the collapse of building 7 "was actually the first time in the world a fire caused the total failure of a skyscraper." A giant computer model of the collapse shows the failure of the internal column of the building is what brought the building down. Extreme heat caused some of the steel beams to lose strength throughout the entire structure; however it was the collapse of the 13th floor that weakened the critical support column. Investigators also found that another collapse nearby had broken the city's water main, which left the bottom of the building without water for the sprinkler system.

None of this matters, though, to the "9/11 was an inside job" whack jobs. There are people who believe that the Earth is flat. There are people who earnestly believe that the Earth is perfectly stationary in the middle of the universe. And there will be people who will take that eternal celestial dirt nap quite sure that 9/11 was an inside job. Come on now ... these people make life interesting.

AN UPDATE ON THE WHALE

Perhaps the most captivating story of this week on the Boortz Show has been the story of Colin the whale. Colin is a humpback whale in Sydney, Australia who lost his mom and adopted a yacht as his mother. He tried unsuccessfully to suckle the boat for food.

They've tried unsuccessfully to lead the whale back to open waters. The New South Wales Parks and Wildlife Service considered using a sling to tow Colin out into deeper waters. But now we are hearing exactly what we had hoped to avoid ... officials have decided that the only option is to kill the whale.

Naturally this sparked outrage in Australia. A rescue group tried to design a feeding apparatus to provide milk to the calf. But plans were underway to euthanize the abandoned baby whale ... but then officials went out at night and couldn't find him in the dark waters. Marine researchers do not believe that Colin will survive the night.

Metaphor alert: Baby whale = The American people. Boat = government. Try to lead us into open waters and we're coming right back ... looking for the nipple.

THE MESSIAH IN TRAINING

Several Democrat political consultants say that Barack Obama spent part of his vacation in Hawaii working on weaning himself off his heavy dependence on teleprompters. Apparently, even at events that are considered "town hall" events, Obama's remarks are scripted or in bullet points that scroll on the teleprompter. One political consultant said, "He just locks down and can't get the words out ... For such a fine speaker, it's really quite remarkable that he's had issues."

I guess the homework didn't pay off as well as Democrats would like, considering the fallout from the Saddleback Forum.

Don't worry ... if he ever has to confront Putin or some mad mullahs we'll make sure a teleprompter is handy.

THE U.S. EXAMPLE

Barack Obama finally came around on Russia, scolding the nation for invading a sovereign nation (Georgia). However, now he has thrown a new caveat into the mix: the United States should set a better example on that front, too. He says, "We've got to send a clear message to Russia and unify our allies ... They can't charge into other countries. Of course it helps if we are leading by example on that point."

So finally, Barack Obama comes out and directly compares Russia's military invasion of Georgia to our own efforts in Iraq. Way to go Big O.

Does anyone remember Georgia being a threat to Russia? Did Georgia have a weapons program? Was Georgia in violation of multiple UN Resolutions ... violations that authorized any UN member to go in and remove their leader? Just wondering.

UNIVERSAL PRE-K

Government funded Pre-K programs....
a good thing
a bad thing
Barack Obama has a plan that he called "Zero to Five," which basically means that he wants to put your children into the hands of government as soon as humanly possible. In fact Obama wants to spend $10 billion a year "to ensure all children have access to pre-school." What he's really saying is that he wants to spend $10 billion a year to insure that the government has access to all children. The government does such a wonderful job from K-12, why not just hand over the ankle biters earlier!

Some National law enforcement leaders recently traveled to Washington to unveil a report that says that we need these government –funded pre-K programs to prevent children from dropping out of high school and turning into criminals. But experts are saying that a new and costly federal program is not the way to prevent this from happening ... there's a real shocker.

"While the Lexington Institute report cited studies that find low-income and at-risk children can benefit from quality pre-school programs, it also found evidence that the benefits for other children are limited and that pre-school can even create behavioral problems in some children."

Fact is the private sector and faith-based organizations are already doing a fine job of providing quality pre-school programs. But liberals can't stand this ... they want your child to be in the hands of government as soon as possible so they can become good government subjects!

Look, folks. What it comes down to is the fact that government pre-K programs aren't going to stop teens from dropping out of high school and turning to crime. Cultures are going to enable children to do this. Parents are going to enable children to do this. And getting your children into the hands of government at a younger age isn't going to stop them!
