OUR AFLAC CARE-A-THON

All is normal on The Neal Boortz Show today ... except for one important thing. We'll be broadcasting from the Aflac Cancer Center at the Children's Hospital in Atlanta. This is our Care-A-Thon, our yearly effort to tell you of the wonderful job the Aflac Cancer Center does in treating childhood cancer and blood disorders in children from around the country – and to ask you to donate some of your hard-earned cash to help these wonderful people and these incredible children. We're truly emotionally invested in this ... so give us a hand.

RUSSIA IS GETTING FEISTY

After the U.S. and Poland agreed on a missile shield in Eastern Europe, Russia says that its response will "go beyond diplomacy." Looks like Czar Putin really means business. I wonder how Barack Obama would respond to such a threat ...

In fact ...I'll go a bit further here. Putin is making these "beyond diplomacy" noises because he senses American weakness. This weakness has been brought about in part by leftist opposition to our war against Islamic terrorism, and in part by our embrace of The Chosen One. Putin possibly believes that Obama is going to be the next decision maker – the next commander in chief. He also correctly believes that Obama is an appeaser. There's no time like the present to make your bold moves and stake your claims – while America is embroiled in an election, and the eventual winner looks like the kind of guy that Putin would have as an appetizer.

OBAMA'S BROTHER

So they've tracked down the Messiah's half brother in Kenya. George Hussein Onyango Obama lives in a hut in the outskirts of Nairobi. He lives on less than a dollar a month ... for those of you in America who are living in "poverty." George Hussein Onyango Obama says that he has only met Barack twice and it was like meeting a complete stranger. When people ask about his surname he usually says that he is not related because he is "ashamed." Obama described his brother in his autobiography as a "beautiful boy with a rounded head".

So there you have it, folks. The Messiah's long lost poor brother in Africa has had his 15 minutes. You would think that things will improve for George once his brother becomes the most powerful man in the world.

Shudder.

THE "REAL PEOPLE"

The goal of the Democrat Convention is to showcase "real people." Who knew that the Chosen One didn't count as a "real person"? But seriously, the stated goal of this convention is to describe Obama's American story, his family roots and his "understanding of real-people challenges." In attempts to do this, the Democrat Convention has chosen a select number of "real people" to speak. Here's the list of speakers who are supporting Barack Obama because "they think he will help folks like them":

-- Mike Fisher, an Amtrak machinist from Beach Grove, Ind. He is worried about job security, with Amtrak facing tough financial times; two of his children are struggling to pay college loans; his son has a new baby and no health insurance; and his son-in-law is in the National Guard facing possible deployment to Iraq.

--Pamella Cash-Roper and her husband, of Pittsboro, N.C., are unemployed due to health problems and can't afford gas to leave the house much.

--Xiomara Rodriguez, of Reno, Nev., served in the U.S. Coast Guard and is concerned about veterans affairs.

--Beth Robinson, of Chesapeake, Va., has multiple sclerosis and, as the wife of a Marine who has served repeated tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, is concerned about the housing market's decline on their future relocations and being a single parent when her husband is deployed.

--Roy Gross, a truck driver from Taylor, Mich., is a single father to a college-age daughter.

Look .. I know that there are some people out there having a rough time. Usually it is because of the decisions they have made in their own lives ... sometimes external circumstances come into play. But what about those in this country who have made the right decisions? Why not showcase people who are successful? How about a speaker who is a successful entrepreneur ... a small business owner ... anybody who has made a life for themselves in this country based on hard work? Small business owners are creating 80% of all new jobs right now ... and already employ 70% of Americans who already have jobs. Why not bring in one of these small business owners to tell America what Obama's "tax the rich" plans will do to them?

I would like to hear from someone who went to work in the dark and came home in the dark ... somebody who doesn't rely on the government to educate their child ... somebody who isn't afraid to be proud that they are successful and it didn't take government to get them there. Anybody who isn't asking the government to do something to solve their problems. Yeah ... like that's going to happen. I refuse to believe that this list of speakers is an accurate display of "real Americans." Maybe it is just display of people who vote Democrat.

A TIMELINE?

What do you think of the timeline the Bush administration is negotiating with the Iraqis?
Excellent!
I'm skeptical, but if the Iraqis want this, we should comply.
I hate it! Iraq will be a disaster if we agree to this.
US and Iraqi officials have finished working on a draft security agreement that would have all American troops out of Iraqi cities by June 30th. The rest of the troops would be out of Iraq by 2011. The deal still needs to be approved by both governments. Right now the contentious issue is offering immunity for American troops from prosecution under Iraqi law.

Don't worry, once the Chosen One is elected, he will have no problem taken care of that little snag.

TOP TEN SIGNS BARACK OBAMA IS OVERCONFIDENT

David Letterman apparently did a list of "Top Ten Signs Barack Obama is Overconfident" ... now there is some brouhaha over this list and whether or not it will be re-aired, blah blah blah. So in case you've yet to see it, here's the list:

10. Proposed a bill to change Oklahoma to "Oklabama"

9. Offered Bush 20 bucks for the "Mission Accomplished" banner

8. Asked guy at Staples, "Which chair will work best in an oval-shaped office?"

7. The affair with Barbara Walters

6. Having head measured for Mount Rushmore

5. Guy sits around eating soup all day

4. He's voting for Nader

3. Offered McCain a job in gift shop at Obama presidential library

2. Announced his running mate will be Andy Dick

1. Been cruising for chicks with John Edwards

READING ASSIGNMENTS

House Minority Leader John Boehner told House Democrats yesterday to either "put up or shut up" when it comes to voting on offshore drilling.

John Stossel has an earful about the "idiocy" of calls for energy independence.

The Democrat National Convention wants a full investigation by the FEC of the John McCain campaign on his right to withdrawal from the public matching funds program. This is par for the course for Obama. He prefers to eliminate his opposition before the actual election.

Even when Barack Obama was on vacation, he got more attention from the media than John McCain.

In case you didn't know, John McCain is playing from the Hillary handbook.

I never thought I would see the day when a speech by the Big O would put someone to sleep. Maybe they just fainted.

The virtual fence that is supposed to built along Arizona's Mexican border has been put on hold. It's a government operation. What do you expect?

A man is told that he will no longer be a candidate to work for the Library of Congress after telling his future boss that he will soon be a she.

Denver wants to make sure that all of its homeless people look as groomed as John Edwards. Do what we did with the homeless in Atlanta during the 1996 Olympics. Put berets on them, spray they with Glade, and tell everyone they're French.

Some people take things way to seriously ... who knew that the outfits the Olympic athletes wore for the opening ceremony could cause such outrage!

A Wisconsin man was able to get out of a speeding ticket by proving that the speed limit signs are invalid because the signs are not posted in the correct position.

PETA wants to buy SeaWorld, free the animals and then replace them with virtual-reality or animatronic displays.

Your taxpayer dollars have gone to fund what medical studies?

A 6-year-old gets on the bus to go to his government school and ends up ... in Mexico?

Government officials in Copley, Ohio have banned those evil ice cream trucks.

This is a big week for Muslims here in Atlanta, the home of the Mothership. The Boortz show was promised a tour of this place. Should be interesting.

A British man was sent to jail after taking a picture of a cop going the wrong way on a one-way street.

Cute story of the day: dogs catch a ride down the river.

A little military humor in pictures.
