NATIONAL ABANDON YOUR CHILDREN DAY Yup, here we go again. That wonderful day every year where we validate and recognize the overwhelming power of big government by taking our children, who we supposedly deem to be the most precious things in our lives, and turn them over the a government we know to be incompetent to be "educated" and prepared for life.
Yeah ... right. Well ... here's a treat! If you click here you can read one of the chapters from my book "Somebody's Gotta Say It," now out in paperback from Harper Collins. This excerpt details the first assault on your child that will take place on opening day at the hands of these government school bureaucrats. Read this and then check with your child when they get home from school today to see if this happened to them. THE BIG O ON VACATION
So Barack Obama is on vacation this week. What will his worshipers do? Who will they pray to or fawn over while Barack sunbathes in Hawaii? Meanwhile, a lot of liberals are biting their nails ... taking a vacation during a campaign is historically known to be a risky move. But this just speaks to Barack's arrogance. After his European trip he's actually the president! If you don't believe me, just listen to his tone! And because he's the president he is now running as an incumbent ... and this means a little vacation can't hurt all that much. After all, he's just running against that wrinkly old bald headed white guy. He is so convinced that he has this election in the bag that this little media respite won't mean squat for his bid for the presidency. The people will continue to adore him, even in his absence. Now ... as for both of them. The Chosen One and the Wrinkly One. Why do they want this job anyway? Aren't you just a wee bit suspicious of anyone who would want this hideous job? ANOTHER BIG O FLIP FLOP
This one happened over the weekend and the issue was Putin's aggression against Georgia. At first Obama just issued a neutral statement calling for an end to the violence. It was as if he was thinking "Golly, if I'm president I surely need to say something about this. So ... I'll just take the sure way out. I'll tell both sides to knock it off." Then Obama must have read something, or listened to an advisor, because he issued a subsequent statement condemning Russia. Now, as you know, because of our lawyers we've run into a spot of trouble trying to post pictures or editorial cartoons here. So I'm just going to ask you to click here so that I can send you to another website that doesn't seem to operated under the same restrictions (different lawyers). You can read about Obama's latest about face, but most of all you have to see this absolutely priceless editorial cartoon. Note, please, the press acting as judges. EDWARDS' LOVE CHILD
Well ... it turns out that the National Enquirer was right. John Edwards did meet up with a woman last month in California whom he once had an affair with. Whether Edwards is the baby daddy of the woman's child remains to be seen. He says he'll take a paternity test. Well ... wait a minute. He can say that all he wants, but the baby mama is saying that under no circumstances is she going to allow that test to take part. Pretty easy to say you'll take that test when you know that the other necessary party won't step up. Finally. It only took the lamestream media weeks to report anything about this story. Guess Edwards is off the short list for Obama's VP. The winner here? The National Enquirer. Tabloid trash, right? Once again they score with a story about a Democrat that the rest of the media wants to just go away. OK ... enuf said on this one. Edwards is now a private citizen, so that 's enough said on this one; and besides, his leftist agenda for our country was a lot more dangerous and frightening than any liaison he may have had with some campaign worker. AN UPDATE ON RACE AND GLOBAL WARMING
Do you remember a few weeks ago when we covered the statements by South Carolina Democrat Senator James Clyburn? He claimed that blacks are disproportionately affected by global warming, more so than non-hispanic whites. Well it looks like somebody heard him ... and actually took him seriously. A group of former Senate majority leaders has given $500,000 to a think tank so that they can work on a project to encourage blacks to be more concerned about global warming. This because a survey showed that only 5% of blacks in America are concerned about global warming. On the other hand 58% are concerned about high gas prices. There is a difference, you know. High gas prices are man made. Global warming (which stopped ten years ago) is not.
YOUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK Over the past four summers, the federal government spent $51 million of your tax dollars flying illegal immigrants back home to Mexico. Taxpayers have footed the bill to fly 64,000 immigrants back to Mexico City between 2004 and 2007. The programs is supposed to "break the smuggling cycle and reduce the desert death count." However, studies show that the program has not made any impact on either of those issues. About 176 illegal aliens are taken on flights back to Mexico every day. This only accounts for 20% of the Mexican illegal border crossers apprehended every day by the Border Patrol in just Tucson alone.Another reason people are upset ... the airline used for the program is AeroMexico, not an American airline, which would pump money back into the American economy. That might be because Mexico would refuse landing rights to American flag carriers. Here's a better idea. While we're shipping the illegals back to Mexico, let's give them some training that might come in handy should they wish to join the Mexican army and become of the Mexican Army Airborne. You know where I'm going here, don't you? Give them parachutes and send them out of the back of a C-130. They can use the chutes for drapes when they get back home. Yeah ... I guess I'm just angling for another MediaMorons mention. WHAT IS A LIBERTARIAN ... AS PER DR. PHD.
This opinion article appeared on a website called "The Chattanoogan." Some guy with "PhD" after his name has taken it upon himself to tells us all just what a libertarian is. Now I've been a member of the Libertarian Party for quite some time now a lifetime member and where Mr. PhD comes up with this, I can't really say. This article was written by Roger A. Meyer. Here, for your amusement, are some of Roger's opinions on Libertarianism. "Libertarianism, a fairly new movement in the United States, is propounded by politicians, business people and pundits. They say it is the only way America can regain its pre-eminence in the world. But it is really just another name for egotism, narcissism, and sociopathic behavior.
It is not a new way of thinking, but is based in erroneous aristocratic assumptions regarding wealth, power and position that are still held by many. They believe they are smarter, better, and therefore, more deserving than the rest of us.
Many high achievers (and those who believe they should be, but...) act as if they are aristocrats. They deserve to be treated in a special way, socially, in business and legally. Other people believe they are to be treated aristocratically because of their birth into the right family, education in the right schools and position in the right society. They think they should not have to pay a fair share of taxes, have laws limit their actions, or be critiqued for their lifestyles. Instead, they deserve to have several McMansions and condos and to buy up huge tracts of land for their own use, posting it to prevent others from enjoying it. And, of course, they imply, "Don't question us about paying for what we have. After all, we've got money, even if we also have huge debts."
The money they made is frequently not due to inventiveness or even hard work. Instead it is made by cooking books, cutting corners, ignoring laws, and making false (or at a minimum very questionable) statements in documents, contracts and advertisements. They also prey on people's weaknesses, pride and greed, but mainly on their ignorance ...
... In the last century, the communist governments in the USSR and China as well as Nazism were built on this same line of thinking. "Trust us, we've got all the answers." In totalitarian societies, the elite reserve the best for themselves and give the masses only enough to keep them from rioting. Do we want that kind of life in America?
Yet the Libertarians think just like this. They pose it as liberty and freedom, but they really mean anarchy. They also propose getting rid of laws that help us uphold moral standards. Some people would like that, but would that create a land in which you would want to live?
Libertarianism would create a nice life for the leaders, but the common people and middle class would suffer to support them in their luxury. It took two centuries of revolutions in America, Europe and then around the world to overthrow the aristocratic systems. Let's not give Libertarians a chance to take us back to the "good old days" (for the rich and powerful that is)."

You did catch the class warfare rhetoric in this article, didn't you? Libertarians buy up huge tracts of land for their own use .. preventing others from enjoying it. So there we have Dr. Meyer's basic screed against private property rights. He also tells us that the evil rich make their money by "...cooking books, cutting corners, ignoring laws, and making false (or at a minimum very questionable) statements in documents, contracts and advertisements. They also prey on people's weaknesses, pride and greed, but mainly on their ignorance ..." Thee is no possibility that the evil rich got to where they are by good decision making and hard work. Here's his bio from the Chattanooga Writer's Guild. How would I respond to Dr. Meyer's view of Libertarianism? I'll have a more thorough response later, but let's just say that a Libertarian believes in freedom, limited government and self-sufficiency. This also includes the freedom of someone to conduct themselves in a manner that you may not approve of, just so long as they don't violate your or anyone else's right to life, liberty or property through force or fraud. NEWS/TALK 750 WSB CARE-A-THON AUCTION: 2009 CORVETTE AUCTION

The great folks at Jim Ellis Chevrolet as been gracious enough to give us their first 2009 Corvette ZR1 to auction off for the Care-A-Thon. Bidding is now open and will be open until the final day of the Care-A-Thon on August 22, 2008. BID ON THE CORVETTE NOW! READING ASSIGNMENTS When it comes to taxes, Barack Obama's plan promises to increase the $9.5 trillion national debt. Doesn't matter though to many voters. He's black. That's all they need to know. What can we look forward to with The Big O in the White House ... the end of a private-ballot vote in unionization drives. Unions are counting on this one .... An idea sure to drive more businesses off our shores. Here's an update on the Tyson plant in Tennessee ... they have agreed to keep the Muslim holiday but they will reinstate Labor Day as a holiday as well. The Hamptons can't figure out why they have a budget deficit of $12 million. Maybe it's the $400,000 spent for a giant vacuum to suck up leaves off lawns or $710,000 a year to give all children free membership to the YMCA. Can't wait for universal healthcare to arrive in this country? Take a look at what one Canadian woman had to go through to get healthcare for a tumor in her abdomen. Here's an article with things you might not know about Barack Obama. The latest AIDS strategy ... have the government give gift cards to influential men in the gay community and encourage them to talk about responsible actions. Make that PAY them to talk about responsibility. A border city in Mexico has started handing out fines to American drivers who cross the border to fill up their gas tanks with government-subsidized Mexican fuel. Good news for homeschooling families in California. A state appeals court ruled that parents have the right to educate their children even if they lack teacher credentials. You can't make this stuff up, folks: "West Virginia is offering special driver's licenses to people who oppose digitized photos because they believe this could be the beginning of the biblical "mark of the beast" prophecy." Our asinine war on drugs continues ... this situation comes from Baltimore. Also note the government's lack of concern for the fourth amendment. The Constitution of Maldives now states that "a non-Muslim may not become a citizen of the Maldives." A Muslim lifeguard in Montreal has filed a human rights complaint against the YMCA because the club won't let her wear her hijab on duty. This is getting so tiring. I just love these DRT stories ... this one comes from Pensacola, Florida. A man in Texas was convicted of his tenth DUI ... now he will be serving life in prison. Movies theatres in Great Britain are slowly becoming popcorn-free. Some older residents in Great Britain have too much time on their hands ... complaining that a store displaying a pregnant mannequin was offensive. Looks like the French still have some arrogance left in them ... Have a birthday for your favorite blubberbutt coming up? Well, fret no more. Here is the latest in fanny packs! |
