DESPERATE TO BE GREEN

The Democrats have their thongs so far up their politically correct behinds that they are unable to think rationally. They are drunk on OwlGore's kool-aid. Take this Democrat Convention coming up in Colorado. First it was the food. No fried food. Food must be organic or have a small carbon footprint. You get the point. Well now it looks like their entire scheme for offsetting their carbon footprint for the convention has completely failed.

Eager to utilize their latest scheme – carbon offset programs – the Democrat Convention chose the eastern Colorado wind turbine as their offset investment. The only problem: It doesn't generate electricity. None. An investigation reveals that the turbine which was to begin producing electricity February 15th but it is incapable of producing its intended output. They found that the district's turbine has never produced marketable energy because of massive equipment malfunctions. Apparently since February, they have tried to turn it on and off 10 times but it is unable to ramp up to full capacity. All it does is sit there and kill birds.

So there you go. The Democrats are so eager to impress you that they are willing to invest money into a defunct offset scheme ... all in the name of being "green." This is a disease, my friends.

BONUS GOVERNMENT OUTRAGES THIS WEEK!

Every day this week, Don Corace, author of Government Pirates (read an excerpt here) will come on the show and talk about a government outrage from his book. You won't want to miss that!

IS THIS THE TYPE OF CHANGE YOU WANT

It seems that Wall Street is already reacting to the prospect of an Obama presidency; this according to some folks who know a lot more about Wall Street than I do. The reaction, by the way, is not positive. For some reason known but to God these investors don't particularly like the idea of higher capital gains taxes and increased taxes on the American investor class.

Well ... that's change for you. I guess we're going to have to live with it. The price we pay for The Chosen One to be our next leader.

A TRANSNATIONAL PRESIDENT

Rich Lowry's latest column suggests that Barack Obama could be our first "transnational president." What he means is that Obama is a candidate who prefers global norms to those of his own nation. Remember that "citizen of the world" stuff he spewed in Berlin? And this is a good thing? I don't need a president who can "unify" the world or identifies as a "citizen of the world." I want a president whose absolute number one priority is protecting this country and promoting American, not world values. I want a president who is tuned in to the American voter, not a the wishes and desires of the man-on-the street in Berlin. I want a president who is willing to make the hard choices for his country. America does not need a transnational president, it needs an American president.

YOUR CONGRESS AT WORK

Keep this in mind while reading this information ... you have the power at the ballot box. Yesterday I had a caller who said that we needed some form of revolution. Well .. we do. But there is no need for a violent revolution. We don't need to beat our iPods into swords. We just need to vote – and vote harshly We need is to have voters who are willing to stand up to power-hungry politicians and kick them out of office. What a wonderful wake-up call it would be to the political class if they woke up the day after the election to find that half of the Congress were brushing up their resumes. Imagine what kind of message that will send.

Moving right along ... It turns out that 94% of the bills passed by the Senate of the 110th Congress (that would be the one led by Democrats) have been passed without debate or even a roll call vote. A non-partisan study by the Congressional Research Service found that of the 911 bills passed by the Senate, 855 of them have been "streamlined by Democratic Party leadership with a procedural tactic known as Unanimous Consent (UC), which requires no debate or even a vote." Who can you thank for that? None other than Majority Leader Harry Reid.

No wonder your politicians are getting away with all of these pork-barrel projects. No wonder you keep electing them into office – you don't even know what they are really doing.

OBAMA SOLIDLY IN BED WITH TEACHER'S UNIONS

... and that means that Obama is working against our children. But what does that matter? He, after all, is The Chosen One.

Did you read yesterday's lead editorial in the Wall Street Journal? Probably not. The subject is our government schools ... and how hideously bad they are.

If you're not a voter that has already swooned at the altar of Obama --- if you're a voter who is still trying to make up your mind in this election --- let me share a few quotes with you on the subject of school choice and vouchers.

First we have John McCain: "Some parents may opt for a better public school or a charter school: others for a private school. No entrenched bureaucracy or union should deny parents that choice and children that opportunity."

Now here's Barack Obama: When he accepted the endorsement of the teacher's unions he talked about ".. tired rhetoric about vouchers and school choice."

So ... does that help you make up your mind? Well ... probably not. After all, how 200,000 screaming German youths who showed up for a rock concert and got to hear Obama be wrong? Put your common sense aside. Stop trying to think through this. Listen to the rock concert crowd. Your choice is clear.

Today on the program I'll use some of the material from this WSJ editorial to inform you about Washington DC's voucher program and the tremendous success it has achieved. I'll tell you that Democrats in congress – owned wholly by the teacher's unions – are refusing to reauthorize the D.C. voucher program. They want it dead.

Let's vote for these people. Let's give them control of the House, a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate, and the White House. Sounds like a mighty fine idea to me!

MCCAIN GETTING BETTER MEDIA COVERAGE?

Barack Obama made an appearance at the UNITY conference for minority journalists. Apparently black journalists are equally as frustrated with the media coverage of the campaign, but in a different way. Les Payne, a founding member of the National Association of Black Journalists and an editor at Newsday, sat on one of the panels at this conference. When asked whether it was appropriate for journalists to clap for Barack Obama, here's what Mr. Payne had to say: "The total duality of it gets to me ... There's no question that mainstream journalists completely adore McCain and cover him favorably ... Now it is: You cannot do what we do routinely . . . and have been doing for a century ... You have been writing favorable stories about [President] Bush for eight years. This is a serious problem and one of the reasons why this organization was founded." So there you go. According to a black journalist, it is McCain who is getting all of the adoration from the media, not Barack Obama.

OK ... I'll have some of what he's drinking.

NANCY'S PRIORITIES

Nancy Pelosi is upset. There's a big surprise. Take a moment to picture Nancy with her thong in a wad. OK ... sorry 'bout that. This time she is upset with the news reports that say the federal budget deficit will reach a record high of nearly $490 billion. Naturally, she is pointing her finger at President Bush. But she isn't upset that the government has spent so much money. Nope. She is upset that the government didn't spend the money on her priorities.

Here's the quote: "President Bush has mortgaged our future with record deficit spending

on the wrong priorities. An unnecessary and extraordinarily costly war in Iraq has turned record surpluses into record deficits. Meanwhile, our economy is in a severe economic slump as a result of this President's mismanagement."

Record deficit spending on the right priorities – right according to the aging hollow-eyed hippie – would be OK.

This is why we have big government, folks.

So our war in Iraq is not a priority to Nancy Pelosi. Perhaps our greatest threat to this nation's security – Islamofacism – is not important to Nancy Pelosi. She would rather give bailouts to people who stopped paying their mortgages or have the government provide healthcare for all of those 47 million uninsured Americans.

READING ASSIGNMENTS

Looking at the poll in yesterday's Nuze, Nuze readers...
don't know their DEFCON levels
are unconcerned with the mortgage bailout
Thanks to our government spending, we now have a record budget deficit of $482 billion. Oh .. and how about $30+ trillion in unfunded Medicare costs?

Liberals (and a lot of conservatives these days) want more government in our lives. Little do they realize that government is our problem. An expensive problem too.

How much damage could an Obama court do? The answer is ... a lot.

OK, all you ObamaManiacs out there. Just what has Obama accomplished?

Robert Novak has been diagnosed with a brain tumor.

John McCain now says that he favors a proposed referendum in Arizona that bans affirmative action. Barack Obama is "disappointed" that McCain changed his position from years ago. There was no change in position.

The Obama camp doesn't seem too thrilled about the article I read on the air yesterday, "I worked out with Obama!" Maybe he does sweat!

They say it's hard to make jokes about Obama. As Byron York says, this is a man who made up his own presidential seal and motto? What's not to laugh at?

Apparently there is a missing thesis from Barack Obama that he wrote in his senior year at Columbia about the Soviet's nuclear disarmament.

Ahmadinejad now believes that Iran and the United States can find "common ground" on Iran's nuclear program thanks to America's "new behavior."

The EPA has decided that it is not going to talk to anyone – no reporters, no congressional investigators and not even the agency's own inspector general.

Here's a report from the Center for American Progress whining about how the mainstream media ignores "ordinary people" in its economic coverage. By "ordinary" they undoubtedly mean "poor."

Apparently, abiding by our Constitution makes the United States "unwelcoming" to illegal immigrants. Actually ... we don't welcome criminals. Illegal immigrants are criminals. All of them. Every one.

It might not be the greatest idea to take 22 inmates from a boot camp for alcoholics and drug addicts to a bar ... especially if you are a correctional officer.

If you find yourself at a Seattle Mariners game, they apparently now have peanut-free seating in their stadium for all the people who suffer from those hideous peanut allergies.

Russia is considering banning "emo" from its country because it pushes young people towards social withdrawal.

Two police officers arrive at your birthday party ... You, a) assume they are responding to noise complaints or b) assume they are strippers.

Chef Adam Scott makes a dream omelet.
