PANDERING TO VOTER IGNORANCE

Ok ... perhaps all politicians do this, but the Democrats are making it an art form.  Yesterday we talked about Obama's call for a windfall profits tax on the oil companies.  What he's talking about is stepping up and seizing an even bigger portion of the pensions, 401K and retirement funds of middle class America; including our teachers, nurses, police officers, soldiers and firemen.  If you missed my show yesterday you can click here to catch up on the details.

So ... what do we have for you today in the rich history of Democrats and their spokesmen?  Yesterday I watched some "democrat strategist" talking about Obama's tax plans.  Sure enough, I didn't have to wait long before he pulled out that Warren Buffet line about CEOs enjoying lower tax rates than their secretaries.  Give a big-time break here.  That idiotic line only works because the uneducated fools who hear it and cheer don't have a clue as to the little trick that is being played on them.  Sadly, many news anchors don't get it either; or if they do, they roll over and play dead when the line is delivered.

Here's the scoop.  What this "democrat(ic) strategist" was really referring to is the fact that capital gains tax rates are lower than income tax rates.  The key here is that a presumption is made that the evil CEO has some investments on which he pays the 15% capital gains tax rate, while his secretary pays regular income tax rates (most likely 25%) on her earned income. What the "strategist" doesn't tell you is that the highly-paid CEO is paying 33% or more on his own earned income.  Only the taxes on his capital gains are lower, and it is quite likely that his secretary has some stock in the operation as well, and is paying that 15% rate on her own capital gains.  This is pure deception – a deception that these yammering yahoos can get away with because (1) most government-educated Americans can't figure out that the wool is being pulled over their eyes; and (2) the reporters who interview these prevaricators don't step up and challenge the funny numbers.

The goal here?  This is Democrats stirring up class envy and wealth envy.  Democrats want the very letters "CEO" to conjure up in the dumb masses feelings of anger and envy.  The problems of this world are cause by evil CEOs who pay lower taxes than their poor beleaguered secretaries.

Leftists also like to rail against evil corporations.  To a Democrat, the word "corporation" is an epithet (unless it is included in the phrase "Corporation for Public Broadcasting).  Listen to Democrat voters -- they parrot the lines perfectly.  Corporate this and corporate that.  They truly believe that their lives would be all blue skies and green lights if it just wasn't for the nefarious things being done by all of these corporations.

Just what is a corporation, anyway?  It's a group of people who own a business enterprise.  That's is.  Do you have a mutual fund?  How about a 401K?  Maybe a pension plan?  Well .. guess what, you're probably a corporate stockholder.  Democrats, like the brain-dead Maxine Waters, don't like the idea of people getting together to own a business; especially a large business.  Small mom and pop operations are OK, but once the business gets too large it is time for the all-powerful government to step in and run things.

As I said yesterday, let's drop all of that talk about our failing "public" schools.  The truth is that these schools are doing exactly what they were designed to do.  They are "educating" Americans to the point that they can actually hold down a job and pay taxes, but not to the point that they become a threat to the ruling class.

AND THE OSCAR FOR UNBRIDLED ARROGANCE GOES TO ........

I talked about this a bit yesterday, but now I have the exact quote before me, so I want to cover it again.  On the night that Barack Obama clinched the Democrat nomination he was in St. Paul, Minnesota – there to deliver this absolute gem of a quote:

"I am absolutely certain that generations from now we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick.  This was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal."

Isn't that amazing?  Not until Barack "The Messiah" Obama signed up that last delegate did this country do anything to care for sick people. Medicare and Medicaid have existed on paper only ... certainly not in reality.  What's more ... a signal has now been sent to the oceans to recede and a great glob of Neosporin has now been spread across our planet.  Does this man believe his own bullshit?  We can only hope not.

By the way ... I'm still waiting for someone to point out one single Obama legislative accomplishment.  Don't rush, I have all the time in the world.

MCCAIN GETS IT ... ALMOST ... SOMETIMES ... ONCE IN A WHILE

When it comes to John McCain, he has some good ideas and then he has some not so good ideas.  His stance on earmark spending, for example.  Now there's a good idea.  But then he panders to the global warming crowd.  That is the John McCain that frustrates me and a lot of conservatives.

When it comes to taxes, McCain doesn't seem to be any different.  Here are some of his better ideas:

-Extending the Bush tax cuts

-Lowering the corporate tax rate

-Maintaining a low capital gains tax

-Phasing out the alternative minimum tax (which will save 25 million families up to $2,000 a year)

But then he goes on to say things like this, "Americans are right to be offended when the extravagant salaries and severance deals of CEOs ... bear no relation to the success of the company or the wishes of shareholders."  There he goes playing with wealth envy rhetoric.  He says that as president he will see that this "wrongdoing" is called to account by the government.  And the government will require that "all aspects of a CEO's pay, including any severance arrangements, must be approved by shareholders."  Hey, McCain.  The stockholders are already running the show.  They elect the board of directors.  Butt out.  We don't need a "conservative" presidential candidate who wants the government to tell private businesses how they must operate.  That is the John McCain I'm afraid of.

GOVERNMENT EDUCATED IDIOT OF THE DAY

Where would we be without our constant daily reminders of the general stupidity ... occasional ignorance ... of American voters?  I think you'll really enjoy this line.  The question in the newspaper is: Should Congress Continue To Fund National Public Radio?

Now .. click on the link and look at the citizen who responded to this question.  The highly-intelligent and no-doubt Democrat stalwart Richard Guess said: "Congress should continue paying for it because if they don't, the taxpayers will end up paying for it."

Just damn. Does the average voter in America actually believe that if Congress passes a bill to fund something that the Congress is paying out of pocket to do so?  Where in the hell does this guy think they get the money?  This is why we have a government that is so willing to spend your tax dollars on pork projects ... because the average person isn't smart enough to realize that they are, in turn, actually paying for it.  It's no wonder we have a nation that's in sad shape ... we've allowed people like this the chance to vote!

THE GOVERNMENT CAN'T EVEN DO WHAT?

The Democrats must be extremely partial to fine dining ... because they were willing to take a page out of the Republican handbook to achieve it.  That's right.  The Senate Dining Room has lost more than $18 million since 1993 and has dropped about $2 million this year alone.  In other words, the government service in the Senate Dining Room is so lousy that it took a Democrat to come up with a brilliant solution: privatize it. And you'll never guess who wants to privatize:  Dianne Feinstein!

Now here's a real mind blower ... are you ready for this?  Feinstein says, "Candidly, I don't think the taxpayers should be subsidizing something that doesn't need to be. There are parts of government that can be run like a business and should be run like businesses."  Now we're getting somewhere!

Now .. here's another surprise.  The restaurants on the House side of the Capital have been privately operated for years ... and making a tidy profit all the while.  That's where the Senate staffers would go to eat.

Come on, folks.  The Senate can't even run a restaurant ... but they want to run your health care.

 FLAG BURNING IN GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS

Shasta High School is in Redding, California.  The principal Milan Wollard has decided that there will not be a student newspaper next year.  He decided this after students ran a photo on the front page of the paper showing a burning American flag.  The principal called the photo "embarrassing."

The paper apparently ran the photo in conjunction with a student editorial supporting flag burning.  The faculty advisor for the newspaper called it "bad journalism."

Tell me one thing:  whose rights have been violated?  Whose life, liberty or property was harmed because some kid decided it would be cool to burn an American flag.  It's just a flag, folks.  Even government school children have to learn that at some point.

 IT'S NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS

The Austin Independent School District is trying to fight a rule that would require them to give information on how many government school teachers in their district have a criminal history.  These are government employees.  They work because your tax dollars pay for them to be there.

But the school district doesn't want to release the information ... apparently this information is "not in the public interest," according to the school district.Tell that to the taxpayers who are paying those people babysit their children every day.  I've got a better idea.  Rather than fussing with the government school district, just pull all the kids out of the government schools.  They'll get a better education and these government bureaucrats will get their fat egos squashed.

 READING ASSIGNMENTS:

With Hillary Clinton out of the picture, this makes Nancy Pelosi the most powerful woman in Washington.  Gawd, were those really our options?

This video of Barack Obama "No vetting the vetters" has been making the rounds.

Let's take a look at some of the "friends of Barack."  Yeah .. this guy is all about change.

"Who is Obama?  Where is the Press?"  by Tony Blankley.  I'll tell you where, Tony.  Reporters are too busy building altars to Obama to be able to write objectively about him.

Ron Paul has decided that he is going to hold his own mini-convention.

Democrats in congress want to kill a voucher program in DC.  Politics before the children.  Democrats being Democrats.

People in San Francisco are gathering signatures for a ballot measure that would advise the school board to reinstate the Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps program.  JROTC was originally banned in 2006 because the program did not impart "critical thinking," according to these government school board officials.

Here's a great article about why stop signs and speed limits actually make our roads more dangerous in America.  I'll give them the speed limit part.

It looks like there may be two Democrats in Congress with some common sense ... just maybe.  I'll alert the media.

The sun has gone unusually long without producing any sunspots.  Today on the air I'll 'splain what this means for the climate.

The ACLU won a lawsuit against a football coach at New Mexico State University for discriminating against Muslim students because the coach made them recite the Lord's Prayer.  Do they have helmet-shaped turbans?  (Oh, I'm gonna catch hell for that one.)

A government high school was forced to apologize to a Muslim student who was offended by the schools' graduation ceremony being held in a church.

The American Textbook Council has been accused of "caving in to political correctness" and "dumbing down" the topic of Islam.

Take a look at what unions are costing you, the taxpayers.

Talk about stating the obvious: obese people have larger medical bills, even with a shorter life expectancy. Look at the bright side.  They don't drain all that much money from Social Security.

Courts in India have ruled that the national airline Air India is allowed to ground lardass crew members.

In Dearborn Heights, Michigan, the city council has decided that ice cream trucks can no longer play music because people think it's too loud.

A city in Oregon is really concerned about flowers hanging over sidewalks that could be a hazard to people.  One couple was fined $650 for the heinous offense.

This high school senior thought it would be really cool to cuss out his family and give them the bird as he was awarded his diploma during graduation.  He is now sitting in jail.  Good.

Two teenagers who used YouTube for a prank were ordered by a judge to issue an apology on YouTube that shows them facedown and handcuffed on the hood of a car.
