STUPID -- MINDLESS PANIC STRICKEN STUPID

OK, so we're beginning the Memorial Day Weekend.  There is just no way in the world that I can wait until Tuesday to refresh Nealz Nuze to make some comment about the absurdly stupid thing that Hillary Clinton had to say today.

Are you ready?  Here we go.  Hillary was responding to a question from the Sioux Falls Argus leader editorial board about people who were calling for her to drop out of the race.  This remarkable woman said "  "My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. You know I just, I don't understand it."

OK .. now for the translation. Hillary was saying "Why should I drop out?  After all, someone could shoot Barack Obama!"

Well .. there you go folks.  That's it.  Finis.  No vice presidential spot.  No Supreme Court nomination.  She's toast.  Over-cooked, dry toast.  This is how her mind works ... in the darkest and most evil ways possible.

So ... over this Memorial Day Weekend, Hillary becomes a memory.

A bad one at that.

MCCAIN IS BACK ON IMMIGRATION

For the first time in a while, John McCain has brought the issue of immigration back to the table. This apparently happened at a roundtable yesterday with businesses leaders out in California. McCain claims that he "got the message from the voters" after last summer's disastrous McCain- Kennedy amnesty bill. He apparently McCain still believes that immigration reform should be a top priority for the next president.

Reform? OK, I'll bite. What type of reform?

I'd like to believe John McCain. I'd like to believe that the first thing he would do as president (besides sign the FairTax) would be to close the border. Seal it. And drop the idea of creating some sort of amnesty program for millions of illegal criminals. Even though McCain claims to have heard the voice of the people on this, he seems wedded to the plan that didn't pass. McCain says: "Senator Kennedy and I tried very hard to get immigration reform, a comprehensive plan, through the Congress of the United States ... It is a federal responsibility and because of our failure as a federal obligation, we're seeing all these various conflicts and problems throughout our nation as different towns, cities, counties, whatever they are, implement different policies and different programs which makes things even worse and even more confusing."

All in the world the American people want is to have our laws enforced. That, in the eyes of many, makes us bigots, racists, xenophobes or what-have-you. Just enforce the law. Shut down the border. If we need workers from south of the border than figure out a way to do that within the law. There are plenty of good ideas out there. Just standing by and watch the Hispanic invasion pour across the Rio Grande isn't one of them.

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME

Politicians have been coming up with all sorts of fancy schemes to combat the current gas prices ... they've done everything except actually come up with a logical, long-term solution. But this hairball scheme, out of all the schemes out there, might be the most ridiculous to date.

Representative Paul Kanjorski is a Democrat from Pennsylvania. His plan would establish a "Reasonable Profits Board" in which the government will determine whether or not a company's profits are excessive. Here are the basics:

  • H.R. 5800 would tax industries' windfall profits.
  • The bill would set up a Reasonable Profits Board to determine when these companies' profits are in excess, and then tax them on those windfall profits.
  • As oil and gas companies' windfall profits increase, so would the tax rate for those companies.
  • Kanjorski said his legislation will encourage oil companies to lower prices to prevent them from receiving higher tax rates.

How completely asinine is this jerk's idea? Clearly he was educated in the same Marxist school as Barack Obama and these other liberals who despise the idea of the free market.

I'm not through with this crackpot idea yet. I know many of you have read "Atlas Shrugged." Now maybe I'm wrong, but wasn't there a similar government entity in that epic book? It's been a while since I read it, but I would swear that this Kanjorski idea was lifted straight from that book.

Remember --- for politicians like Kanjorski, you really only allowed to earn profits selling something or providing some service that the people don't actually need.

Just how long do you think it would take for politicians - anti-capitalist politicians - to start working to add other consumer items to the jurisdiction of the Reasonable Profits Board? The pressure would certainly be on to get food added ASAP. Then it would be pharmaceuticals. Oh ... and if you'll remember that story from earlier in the week about "affordable" weight loss clinics ... let's add those too.

Idiots like this Kanjorski need a little more attention from you. Here's his web page.

GOVERNMENT AND GAS PRICES

If you want some explanation as to where much of your money you spend on gas is going ... look no further than your own government. Dick Durbin sits in Washington and points his finger at oil executives for their "excessive" profits. He then complains that in his home state of Illinois, Chicago residents are paying the highest gasoline prices in the country ... and this is all the fault of the oil company executives!

Well guess what? Dick Durbin forgot to tell you that Chicago also has the highest tax rate on gasoline than anywhere else in the country. Nearly 20% of the Chicago price for gas goes directly to the government. The prices are higher because of government taxes.

In fact, there are apparently ten levels of taxation on gasoline in Chicago. You want a break down? First there are Motor Fuel Taxes, which go to the federal government, Illinois, Cook County and the city of Chicago. Then there's a 9.25% sales tax which is split among Illinois, Chicago and Cook County's share of the state sales tax. Then there's a county home rule tax. And how about a RTA transit tax. Oh and let's not forget a Chicago home rule levy. Yep, that's about ten levels of taxation. But the oil companies probably came up with that plan ... wait, no they didn't. That would be the government.

So right now, on a $4 gallon of gas, the government gets a total of 79.2 cents in taxes. The Governor of Illinois is really excited about these high gas prices because they are expected to bring an extra $220 million into the State Treasury. More of your tax dollars for your government to waste.

THE DUMBEST MEMBER OF CONGRESS ...

Who is the dumbest member of Congress?
Sheila Jackson Lee
Maxine Waters
Patrick Kennedy
Paul Kanjorski
Someone else
Well, that might be quite a contest. Up until yesterday I might have had a hard time picking between that Kennedy kid, Sheila Jackson Lee from Texas and Maxine Waters from California.

Yesterday Maxine Waters got her chance to grandstand in front of those very same oil company executives that were roughed up by the Senate on Wednesday. Waters didn't exactly like what she was hearing from the private sector .. so she started sputtering something about the government taking over the oil companies. She stumbled over the word "socialism," but finally settled on "taking over." The actual word she was looking for was "nationalize."

What a ditz.

Sadly .. thanks to our wonderful government education system ... there are quite a few Americans who would go along with the idea. I mean, after all, the votes to put an idiot like that in Congress had to come from somewhere, didn't they?

55 MPH AGAIN?

Are we getting to a point where Congress may consider adopting a national 55mph speed limit? It's happened before ... and there doesn't seem to be anything stopping these power-hungry ignorant politicians.

SO HOW ABOUT BECOMING PART OF THE SOLUTION

The Bush administration has released a report showing that most of the oil and more than 40% of the natural gas on government land is off limits to drilling. Do you hear that? Almost ALL of our oil, we are not allowed to access. Almost half of our natural gas, we can't get to it.

Opening up these resources would give energy companies access to 19 billion barrels of oil and 231 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. Based on current consumption, the inaccessible reserves amount to a 2 _ year supply of oil and a 10 year supply of natural gas.

DEAR AMERICAN VOTERS

Some liberal think tanks have taken it upon themselves to let the world share their opinion of the US presidential election. After all, according to Barack Obama we are supposed to live our lives in the United States based on expressions of approval from other countries: "We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times . . . and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK. That's not leadership. That's not going to happen." So the liberals are just following their messiah by creating a website called Dear American Voter ... this is where the rest of the world gets to tell us how we should vote and why.

Like I give a flying flip what Hanz in Germany thinks of the United States election for president. Hanz probably wants me to vote for Barack Obama because he will provide the US people with government healthcare and government education and government, government, government ... but guess what? Hanz isn't the one that is going to be paying for those entitlement programs. And Hanz isn't the one that is governed by a set of laws based on individual freedom and liberty.

Let the rest of the world voice their opinions, but don't give them the idea that it actually matters.

READING ASSIGNMENTS

Obama has begun the search for a Vice Presidential running mate. Hillary, however, does not seem to be an option.

John McCain took a stab at Barack Obama yesterday for Obama's lack of military service.

This whole oil executive charade in Congress is out of hand. Take a look at the hypocrisy of Senator Chuck Schumer on Saudi Arabian oil production compared to the US oil in ANWAR.

In the wake of Ted Kennedy's diagnosis, we are starting to get some pretty interesting articles. Like this NYTimes article, for example: "And if some of his solutions cost the government some money, well, that is what the government is for." Is that so?

The state appellate court of Texas has ruled that the government had no right to take the children living at a polygamist sect's ranch.

The ACLU believes that state and local police who enforce federal immigration laws are targeting Latinos and "terrorizing" people across the country.

The taxpayers have spent more than $22 million to repairs the levees in New Orleans ... only to find them leaking yet again, because New Orleans is built on "mushy ground."

A Museum in Great Britain was forced to cover up naked Egyptian mummies to protect the 'sensitivities' of visitors. I have no doubt that these offended visitors were Muslims.

After a bomb exploded at a restaurant in the UK, a Muslim convert is now being held by police.

Iran has a new enemy on its list: imported neckties.

A group in Malaysia has condemned the government school uniforms worn by girls, saying that the uniforms encourage rape and pre-marital sex.

Remember the 11-year-old boy who sold his video games in order to donate money to the Hillary Clinton campaign? You'll be happy to know that a group of elected officials from a nearby town in West Virginia raised the money to replace his video games and bike.

A principal of a government high school in South Carolina resigned after the district approved an organization for gay students, which conflicted with his religious beliefs.

Here we have another unfortunate story of an illegal alien causing a fatal car wreck because he was drunk.

Are you liberals ready to be outraged? A new study shows that wealthy people have higher IQs.

The European Court of Human Rights has agreed to hear the case of a chimpanzee. The question is whether or not the chimp has human rights.

Your tax dollars have been used to officially define life-long premature ejaculation.

We got such a great response from our government outrage yesterday about the Piping Plover on the Cape Hatteras National Seashore that we figured we'd put a link up to the story so Nealz Nuze readers could share your frustration.
