HILLARY FIRED? SHOULD HAVE BEEN DISBARRED!
We touched on this yesterday, and I'm told that we've received a
mess-o-emails asking me to put something about it on the Nuze today. Ok .. so
here we go with the abbreviated version of Hillary's shenanigans when she was
working for the House Judiciary Committee during the Nixon impeachment mess. If
you want the full story
click here to read the column by Dan Calabrese.
- Hillary Rodham gets a spot on the legal staff of the
House Judiciary Committee upon the recommendation of a lawyer pal of Ted
Kennedy.
The man who hires Hillary is
Jerry Zeifman, a lifelong
Democrat.
- The House Judiciary Committee is investigating Richard
Nixon with an eye on impeachment.
- A question arises as to whether or not Nixon is
legally entitled to counsel during the investigation. If so, his council
would be allowed to cross examine witnesses appearing before the panel.
- The concern about having counsel for Nixon cross
examine witnesses centered on E. Howard Hunt. Democrats on the committee
feared that Nixon's counsel would elicit information from Hunt that would be
very damaging to the Kennedys.
- Zeifman tells Hillary that Nixon is entitled to
counsel. He cites documents in the committee's public file referencing the
fact that Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas had representation four
years earlier while he was being investigated.
- Hillary removes the documents from the committees
public file and places them under lock and key in her office where they are
not available for media or public scrutiny.
- Hillary then prepares a brief for filing with a
federal judge which falsely states that there is no precedent for an
official being investigated by the committee to have legal representation
during that investigation.
- Nixon resigns before Hillary has a chance to submit
the brief in which she makes knowingly false claims.
- Zeifman then fires Hillary. Hillary asks for a letter
of recommendation. Zeifman says no. This was only the third time in
Zeifman's 17 years with the committee that he had refused a letter of
recommendation.
Zeifman told Dan Calabrese that if Hillary had actually submitted the brief
she most likely would have been disbarred. We're trying to arrange for Jerry
Zeifman to be a guest on the show today.
So .. all you Hillary fans out there. Here we have your hero once again
hiding documents that could be damaging to her cause (Rose Law Firm billing
records, Vince Foster's files) and then committing an unethical act in preparing
a brief on a point of law she knew to be false. And you want this lady to be
our president?
Oh ... and why haven't we heard about this before? It seems to me that the
media would be interested in this level of dishonesty and unethical behavior by
Hillary Clinton.
HAMMERING THE OIL COMPANIES
First .. the big oil company tax benefits that our politicians remind us of
virtually every day are tax breaks enjoyed by corporations across the board. So
when the politicians cite those tax breaks as an excuse to tell the oil
companies what to do with their profits they're laying the groundwork for a
system in which politicians can dictate, to one or extent or another, how
virtually all American businesses spend and invest their profits.
So there we were yesterday ... listening to these politicians, many of whom
have never been responsible for delivering a profit in their entire lives,
telling the oil companies what they should and should not do (translate into
what they can and cannot do) with the money that they earn.
Now I blame those oil company executives too. They were submissive candy
asses before that congressional inquisition yesterday. These politicians work
for the stockholders and employees of these oil companies ... not the other way
around. A little bit of spine in some of these highly-paid executives would
have been a wonderful thing to watch yesterday. Instead --- they wimped out.
The political hacks made a big deal about the huge profits these oil
companies made over the past few years. All of this posturing was a sham .. and
the politicians knew it. They also knew that most of the people would watch
them deliver their big oil smack down on TV wouldn't know a profit from a profit
margin if their next six-pack and their big screen TVs depended on it.
So ... just a quick remedial course if you will.
Let's say you sell widgets. It costs you 92 cents to make a widget, and you
sell the widget for a dollar. You make eight cents on the sale of that
widget. Your profit is eight cents – your profit margin is 8%. Now, let's say
that your cost of business, comprised mostly of raw materials, goes up. Now it
costs you $1.84 to make a widget. You respond by raising the price of your
widgets by a dollar. They now cost $2.00 each. Subtract your cost of doing
business ($1.84) from sales revenues for one widget ($2.00) and you have a
profit of 16 cents. Wow! Your profit has doubled! But wait! What is your
profit margin? How much is your company making for every widget it sells?
Nothing has changed. Your profit margin is still 8%. Profits have doubled ..
the profit margin has remained the same. The only reason the profits doubled is
that the price of your raw materials has gone up. Has anyone looked at the
price of crude oil lately?
Last year the big five oil companies made around $123 billion in profits.
Pretty strong. But what was their profit margin? Around 9%. Same as the year
before and the year before that. The politicians can't pander to the dumb
masses by slamming profit margins ... so they play the dishonest game of slamming
the gross profits, and the media lets them skate. They start talking about
"windfall" profits. Tell me ... how is it a windfall profit when the profit
margin is remaining effectively the same? Some windfall.
Do you know why they get away with this nonsense? Because the dumb masses
they're preaching to were largely educated in government schools. If you shoved
what they know about economics up an ant's ass it would rattle around like a BB
in a boxcar.
Some politicians, of course, want to take this situation with gas prices and
figure out a way to turn it into another government entitlement program. They
point out that some low-income Americans pay as much as 10% of their incomes for
fuel. So .. what to do? Let's make some more suggestions as to how the oil
companies should spend their profits. Two senators, Republican (INO) Olympia
Snowe of Maine and Democrat Jack Reed of Rhode Island have asked the oil
companies
to voluntarily help "low income" consumers. They want the oil companies to
contribute to a fund to help "low income" consumers pay for this upcoming
winter's heating bills. Oh and to also pay for their transportation costs later
this summer. The Senators complain that these big oil companies "need to share
some of their profits with consumers who are in need." Since when it is the
government's role to tell a private company that it needs to share its profits.
It is not the government's money. This money belongs to the teacher's union
retirement funds, the police and fire fighter pension plans and other
organizations and individuals who have purchased stock in these companies.
Every dollar these politicians wrestle away from the oil companies is money out
of the pockets of the shareholders .. or money the oil companies aren't going to
invest in more energy production. But what the hell ... we all know that the
government can do a better job of spending this money anyway, can't it?
So there we were yesterday ... the non-productive political class telling these
oil companies what they should and should not do with their profits .. profits
that belong to the oil company stockholders.
BARACK LIES TOO
We've spent a lot of time this week cataloging the many lies of Hillary
Clinton. Maybe it's time to talk about her opponent as well. He's a liar too,
you know.
Once again yesterday we had Barack Obama saying that John McCain has said he
will keep troops in Iraq for 100 years. No long dialogue here. You just need to
know that this is an outright falsehood .. a lie. McCain never said it, and
Obama knows it. The media is calling it so.
WOULD YOU CALL THIS AN OBAMA LIE?
Barack Obama is running an ad in Pennsylvania designed to play on the voter's
general dissatisfaction with the oil companies. He mentions Exxon's profits but
does not mention the profit margin. Then he says "I don't take money from oil
companies .... "
OK .. so that's not a direct lie. He's right. He doesn't take money from
oil companies. Either does John McCain. Either does Hillary Clinton. Ditto
for all candidates for the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. And
why not? Well, Obama hasn't taken any contributions from oil companies because
since 1907 it has been illegal for any corporation to make a direct contribution
to a federal candidate. So .. let's call BFD on this campaign ad claim.
But wait! There's more! And you're going to get this without paying
shipping and handling. Here are two goodies from Factcheck.org:
- Obama has accepted more
than $213,000 from individuals who work for companies in the oil and gas
industry and their spouses.
- Two of Obama's bundlers are top executives at oil
companies and are listed on his Web site as raising between $50,000 and
$100,000 for the presidential hopeful.
Ah ha! A bit of deception there, wouldn't you say? Obama doesn't take money
from the oil companies. That would be illegal. But if the top oil company
executives want to round up some contributions from friends and employees ...well
that's just fine.

ANOTHER HURRICANE SEASON PREDICTION
Hurricane experts are already getting their boxers in a bunch over the idea
of a disastrous 2008 hurricane season. More than 1,400 emergency managers,
government officials and others involved in tropical disasters went to Orlando,
Florida this week for a National Hurricane Conference. They went to prepare for
"what may be a devastating storm season."
Gee that sounds familiar, doesn't it? Didn't we hear this same thing for the
last two years? But .. either way, they win. Hurricanes or no hurricanes,
they'll blame whatever happens on global warming.
THE GLOBAL WARMING SCAM
At a UN conference this week, poor nations have decided that they are not
going to sign a global warming pact
unless rich nations pay them billions of dollars. Must be nice. Island
nations in the Caribbean and South Pacific say that they've been hit with
floods, rising seas and cyclones all because of man-made global warming by
industrialized nations. But unlike these nations, the poorer nations say they
don't have the money to build sea walls or relocate ... therefore it is the rich
nations' job to give them the money to do so.
Rich nations are saying that they agree to help ... but they can't agree on how
to do it. The United States wants to make this a voluntary aid program, and
Europe wants to use the trading of pollution permits to generate money. The UN
Development Program says that it is going to need $86 billion by 2015 in order
to help the poor nations. China's solution is to have rich nations give at
least 0.5% of their GDP to help the poorer nations. For the United States, that
would be a whopping $60 billion. All in the name of global warming.
Oh .. before we leave this ... let's also remember that Barack Obama also has a
bill pending in the U.S. Senate that calls for the United States to contribute
.7% of its GDP to help eliminate global poverty. (Or, as others see it, to line
the pockets of petty dictators around the world). Well, that .7% and the .5%
brings us up to 1.2% I wonder if it would be a good idea to set some sort of a
cap on just how much of the wealth we produce in America we owe the world.

chat with Neal today.
He's on tour,
maybe he'll come to your town.
WHEN YOU CHILD DOESN'T READ ...
... Give him an audio book! Studies have shown a steady decline in reading. A
new study released last fall found that less than a third of 13-year-olds read
every day. By the time they get to high school, 20% are considered
non-readers.
So now teachers are turning to audio books, passing them off as an easier
way to "read," particularly for children with learning disabilities like
dyslexia.
Audio books will become to reading what calculators have become to math.
Now here's my question ... what office environment is going to say "Oh Billy, I
see you are dyslexic. Here is the report in audio form." Yeah ...What good is
this going to do for students who are truly struggling to read, or those that
flat out don't want to? The answer is that it is not going to do a darn thing.
It is just a wussified way to make students feel good, without giving them the
proper tools they need to succeed in society. Maybe I'm wrong, but reading is a
pretty necessary tool. What about newspapers ... what about novels ... these are
the students that have never read a real newspaper in their lives. These are
the students that will grow up to vote for the Hillary Clintons of the world
"because she's a woman" and her commercials during American Idol said she would
give me free healthcare.
Here's another priceless anecdote. Librarians are concerned that an increase
in audio books will create a "digital divide" between those that can afford the
technology to listen and those that cannot. So to prove this theory wrong, an
audio book company decided to go to a school in New Jersey where 90% of students
receive free or reduced lunches ... I guess this is their way of calculating "poor
students" in government schools. In their research on this school filled with
90% poor students, more than half of third graders already had their own MP3
players. In other words ... their parents can't afford to make them a lunch, but
they are more than willing to go and buy their kids an MP3 player. That, my
friends, is the "poor" in this country.

Hillary is now saying that
she is like Rocky ... she never gives up. Hint to Hillary. Rocky lost.
Even Hillary supporters are admitting they believe that
Barack Obama will prevail.
In Pennsylvania yesterday, Hillary promised labor union workers that
she was going to 'rebuild America' and give them high paying jobs that can't
be outsourced. I wonder how she plans on doing that. With government
regulations and money out of your pocket, I would suspect.
Bush is going to bypass more than 30 laws and regulations in order
to get the border fence built by the end of this year.
The state of California has now decided it would be a good time
to repeal its laws that penalize people for joining the Communist Party.
Some people in Florida are upset that
Nestle is taking water that 'belongs to Floridians' (and its free!) and
shipping the water to other states.
Take a look at the sorry state of our government education
in terms of graduation rates. We are raising a nation of absolute dumb
asses.
Afghanistan is considering
barring television programs from showing dancing and any other activities
that are considered "un-Islamic."
Getting $5,666.10 of your tax dollars back might be a good thing, until you
realize that you have
yet to file your taxes.
The Tax Foundation took the liberty on April Fool's day to
make a mockery of our current tax system.
If you are in desperate need
for a tramp stamp ... apparently you can get your quick fix by going to your
local Toys "R" Us. It's never to early for your little girl to start acting like
a slut. How about kiddie thongs?
I gave you a warning yesterday about people who drive cars without their
