OBAMA
OK ... those of us who are paying attention have heard the speech by now. I've also listened to no small amount of controversy about the speech. I'll save most of my comments for the air, but in short ... it wasn't so much what he said in the speech that disappointed me as what he didn't say.
About his grandmother. I guess we're supposed to apply some sort of equivalency to the comments made by his white grandmother in the privacy of a family gathering to the hate-filled statements of Rev. Wright in a large, politically powerful church. Yeah .. that certainly works for me. Interesting, also, that Obama demanded that Hillary Clinton in effect disown Geraldine Ferraro for her comments while being adamant that he cannot disown Wright for his. And just what did Ferraro say? Nothing more than that Obama wouldn't be where he is in this race right now if he weren't black. Now I might not agree with that statement, but it certainly isn't racist. There are undoubtedly hoards of people out there, both black and white, who might say the same thing. Do you know why Barack Obama could not and will not "disown" Rev. Wright? Because the Trinity Church of Christ is one of the biggest in Chicago. I think that it is fair to say that Barack Obama's motivation to join this church was more rooted in his quest for political power than for communion with God. Another point: Who was the first announced presidential candidate to call for Don Imus to be fired last year? Yup, you're right ... Barack Obama. I will highlight a couple of excerpts from the speech I thought were notable: - I have brothers, sisters, nieces, nephew, uncles and cousins of every race and every hue, scattered across three continents, and for as long as I live I will never forget that in no other country on Earth is my story even possible.
- He referred to as "distorted" Rev. Wright's view that "... conflicts in the Middle East (are) rooted primarily in the actions of stalwart allies like Israel, instead of emanating from the perverse and hateful ideologies of radical Islam." Pretty strong for a man whose father and brother are Muslims.
- "The church contains in full the kindness and cruelty, the fierce intelligence and the shocking ignorance, the struggles and successes, the love and yes, the bitterness and bias that make up the black experience in America." Good line.
- He actually mentioned "taking full responsibility for our own lives" in his speech. An interesting thought from a liberal.
Much more to say ... I guess you'll just have to bite the bullet and listen to the show. YOUTUBE ELECTION This is the first YouTube election. The mainstream media just can't keep up with what is happening on the Internet. Here are a couple of things for you to look at today. We've all heard that Democrats are soft on defense. True? Well, take a look at this clip of Barack Obama telling us of his plans for protecting this country. This would thrill the hell out of Cindy Sheehan, but then she's profoundly demented. What do you, a much more rational person, think? Now ... get the children out of the room. Sit down. Make sure that there are at least some lights on in the room, and take a look at this! Just absolutely freaking amazing! More to come! Watch this space. HILLARY'S HISTORY
After facing a lawsuit, Hillary Clinton will finally be making her records as first lady available to the public. Some 11,000 pages will be released detailing her meetings, trips, speaking engagements and social activities ... you know, all of those events that now make her qualified to be commander and chief. Now we'll get a chance to see the documentation that proves all of this wonderful experience she has. RESCUING THE AMERICAN FLAG
Have you heard the story of Ray Adam Modisette? He is 20-years-old. He also happens to be a U.S. Marine Corps reservist from Oklahoma. Last Friday, Modisette was leaving Tinker Air Force Base when he ran into a group of protestors from the Westboro Baptist Church carrying signs saying "Thank God for dead soldiers." Fine. They are imbeciles of the first order. But when Modisette saw protestors dragging the American flag on the ground and one protestor stuffing and American flag down her pants ... he reacted. He crossed the street to confront the protestors, ignoring police officers' requests not to get involved.
Well guess what. He was arrested on a complaint of interfering with official police process. The Midwest City Assistant City Attorney even thinks there are grounds to prosecute Modisette for an act of civil disobedience. But at the request of police officers, the charges will not be filed. Not, please, that the city attorney doesn't seem to be eager to prosecute the fools from the Baptist Church. Modisette ended up posting $850 bail ... money that he earned during his deployment to Iraq. The good news is that the money will now be refunded with prosecutors declining a case against him. Many local residents have offered to help Modisette recover the funds, but he declined saying "I think it would have been money well-spent." My only hope is that one of those idiots came away from the confrontation with a bloodied nose. WHEELCHAIRS IN THE PARK
Federal law requires that government parks provide "universal access" to its land and attractions. So when you want to visit a national park in a wheelchair ... you have to have the same capability of everyone else standing on two feet. Now a federal class-action lawsuit is mounting against the National Park Service and the Golden Gate National Recreational Area, which has a series of parks across 75,000 acres of government land. I guess it is no surprise that this lawsuit is mounting in the San Francisco Bay area, which is considered the birthplace of the disability rights movement.
Disabled visitors are saying that they can't access the Golden Gate area's historic buildings, trails, museums, restrooms or water fountains. On a stroll around the Marin Headlands, someone points out barriers such as jagged pavement, driftwood stairs, locked gates and steep trails ... all signs that the government is "systemically discriminating against plaintiffs on the basis of their disabilities." And now it is the people's turn to pay with their tax dollars. The Golden Gate recreational area has already invested millions of taxpayer dollars into correcting problems around the Bay Area. For example, the taxpayers are now funding special vehicles on Alcatraz Island to move people from the dock to the cell house. The coastal trail has had a $3 million facelift to cater to disabled visitors. This is still not enough. And back in 2005 the California park system agreed to repair and remodel 270 parks to cater to disabled needs. That has already cost the taxpayers of California $100 million. The tyranny of the wheelchair. FIVE EASY STEPS TO BECOMING A CANDYASS LIBERAL
Since universities across the country are using these "diversity training" seminars to indoctrinate your children ... we here at the Neal Boortz Show figured that you shouldn't miss out on the fun. So here are some preliminary steps to becoming a candyass, wussified bedwetting liberal moonbat. Step #1: "Examine and come to terms with your own personal prejudices." Step #2: "Take responsibility for addressing discrimination you encounter on campus." Step #3: "Get involved in activities and events sponsored by different groups...[or] enroll in a semester-long cultural diversity course or workshop, or a course about a culture different from your own." Step #4: "Make a sincere effort to establish a meaningful relationship with a student of a different ethnic or cultural background or lifestyle." (Someone like Halle Berry, for instance) Step #5: "Learn to overcome the tendency to stereotype members of various groups, and instead, try to develop sensitivity to their feelings and experiences." Oh ... I feel so much better now. READING ASSIGNMENTS In case you missed Obama's speech on race yesterday ... here is a video and a transcript. And for those of you who are lazy, here are the highlights. What do children, thieves and politicians all have in common? They love to spend other people's money. Minorities cut class. Minorities don't study. So .. .blacks and Hispanics don't graduate from the Palm Beach County schools at the same rate as those who do study. So ... the ACLU sues. Will these idiots ever give up? Liberals are saying that global warming is a threat to US security. As much of a threat as liberal idiocy? Even amongst all this controversy surrounding Obama's pastor, Texas Christian University would still like to honor Jeremiah Wright. Well ... it's not exactly TCU, rather it is a church that operates on their campus. How quick do you think TCU would be to condemn a right-wing group operating on their campus? The Washington Times says that over half of Democrats and two-thirds of Republicans would be less likely to support Obama after hearing Jeremiah Wright's speeches. In case you haven't been keeping up with the bedwetters these days, some kid over at the DailyKos believes that the United States needs to be invaded and occupied in order to become a nation of compassionate pacifists. Right now things are looking pretty good for the right to keep and bear arms. But remember, this is the same Supreme Court that ruled that government can seize your property for the purpose of increasing the tax base. I love this law. In Sarasota, Florida the police will impound your car if the stereo is too loud. How long before they do this in Atlanta? Yeah .. right. Reuters' excuse for mislabeling Eliot Spitzer as a Republican ... "that the (R) means that he is the person on the right side of the photo." Yeah ... we're buying that. Muslims must be losing their edge ... after the reprinting of the Muhammad cartoons, many called for the boycott of Danish and Norwegian products. Only that doesn't seem to be working out so well. When you want Muslim girls to attend a madrassa, just blow up their current government school so they don't have a choice. That's how they do it in Pakistan. If you live in Saudi Arabia you can look forward to camel beauty pageants. Well, at least they don't cover their camels with tarps. Where in the world would a 10-year-old boy marry his 11-year-old cousin? Why Saudi Arabia of course! And while we are still on the topic of Saudi Arabia ... A Saudi Arabia University Islamic Studies faculty member, Dr. Walid Yabba Dabba Al-Rashudi, said on television that "we will not be satisfied even if all the Jews are killed." Which companies that you support are considered "green" according to Greenpeace? That Nintendo Wii is really causing some damage. These thugs could get seven years in prison for posting a video on YouTube where they explain "How to Scam Del Taco." People are now relying on metal detectors on beaches to provide them an income. Metal detectors have sold out in many of Florida stores. |
