JOHN ADAMS

I sure hope you're watching the seven part HBO miniseries "John Adams." The first two hours were last night. Amazing. I wish every American would watch ... but I know that there's basketball and Entertainment Tonight to compete with. Too bad.

OBAMA AND THE PASTOR

Trite? Perhaps so ... cliché? You bet. True? Absolutely. You are known by the company you keep ... especially if you happen to be in politics.

There has been talk of Obama's pastor, Jeremiah Wright, for many months now. We've all heard of the frankly un-American rants that the "Rev." Wright has delivered from the pulpit of Obama's United Church of Christ. Obama had always been able to distance himself from Wright's outrageous and bigoted remarks. Obama would tell us that he wasn't there when the sermons were delivered .. and the media seemed willing to accept that. Until Friday ....

Friday the words of Jeremiah Wright hit the fan, you might say. Friday the nation found out about Wright's "God Damn America" sermon. This one didn't start with talk radio. It didn't start with any Clinton memo to talk show hosts. It didn't start with a memo from the Republican National Committee ... at least I didn't see any such memo. Blame YouTube. The clips of Obama's radical pastor started appearing on YouTube on Thursday. Friday morning the now-infamous "God Damn America" sermon came to my attention through the efforts of ABC News. From there it was off to the races.

Let's face it, we really don't know Obama very well. We don't have much experience with him to draw upon. All many Americans really know about Barack Obama is that he is a wonderful orator. A few more Americans see him as a wonderful orator who essentially says nothing. For the most part, all Barack Obama has done is to stoke the rage against high achievers in our society through his class warfare tactics and to hand out thousands of "Change we can believe in" signs.

To be fair to Obama, he has had to walk a fine line with this Jeremiah Wright stuff. Ignore Wright's inflammatory and bigoted remarks and he ran the risk of being seen as accepting them. Step over the line in the condemnation of Wright and stand the risk of being branded a sellout or an Uncle Tom. So what does he do? He tries to straddle that fence. That never seems to work in politics.

Friday Obama had to take a stand. The "God Damn America" stuff; the charges that the United States created HIV to kill blacks; the blaming of 9/11 on our own government; the "U.S. of KKKA" ... too much to for the voters to ignore. Now Jeremiah Wright is no longer a part of Obama's campaign. He's out. No longer the pastor of Obama's church. Out there as well. The words "good riddance" come to mind.

Will the content of Reverend Jeremiah Wright's sermons hurt Barack Obama's campaign?
Oh yeah, he will definitely lose some ground because of Wright
No, the people who are up in arms over Wright's comments wouldn't vote Democrat anyway
Obama's actions on Friday don't solve his problem. Only his staunchest supporters would suggest that his severing of ties with pastor Wright were heartfelt. It was a political move ... a move designed to quiet the firestorm. One of Obama's own campaign advisors says that as of about 14 months ago the campaign was worried about the affect that Jeremiah Wright (I think I'm about finished using the "Reverend" thing) might have on Obama's chances to become president. So much for Obama not being aware of what Wright was saying from the pulpit.

Perhaps the real problem with Barack Obama is the type of people he has gravitated to throughout his history. Why Jeremiah Wright? Why this particular church? Was it Wright's political power that attracted Obama? Was it the very radical statements Obama is trying to dodge today?

You can learn quite a bit about Obama by reading Bill Sammon's book "Meet the Next President." The chapter on Obama is quite interesting. In Obama's first book, "Dreams of my Father," a book in which he writes of his "fierce ambition" to become president, Obama also writes about "white people's scorn" and "all the traps that seem to be laid in a black man's soul." Now that doesn't sound very trans-racial (to use Obama's words) to me. There's also a passage in that book about Obama's mother that I found impressive: "For my mother, organized religion too often dressed up closed-mindedness in the garb of piety, cruelty and oppression in the cloak of righteousness." I wonder what his mother would of thought of Obama's church.

Sammon's book also contains an interesting revelation about Jeremiah Wright and the philosophy of the Trinity United Church of Christ. "Wright advocated a redistribution of wealth that went beyond socialism. The congregation was required to embrace 'economic parity' and disavow 'the pursuit of middleclassness.'" Think about this. This is the church that was instrumental in bringing Obama to Christ (or so he says), and this is a church advocating radical wealth redistribution. Do you know what "economic parity" is? That would mean that everybody has an equal amount of stuff.

So it came to pass that Obama appeared on FOX News Friday night to answer questions about his pastor Jeremiah Wright. It didn't take very long for Wright to step down from Obama's African-American Religious Leadership Committee. But the damage has been done. Obama has been in this guys' pews for almost 20 years ... he referred to Wright has his uncle. Even though he no longer serves an official role in his campaign, Obama will forever be associated with this guy.

Now Wright's old church is responding ...fighting back, if you will. And how do you do that? Attacking the media would be one way ... so the Trinity United Church of Christ is accusing the media of character assassination and "crucifixion." The character of this church was damaged by their pastor. It was Jeremiah Wright who continuously made these statements ... he crucified himself, and didn't do Barack Obama any favors in the process. When in doubt, blame the media.

And on top of all of this, on Friday Barack Obama confirmed that his buddy Tony Rezko "raised more for Obama's earlier political campaigns than previously known." Ok .. different issue. But perhaps this news was released by the Obama campaign over the weekend because they knew it would be buried under the Jeremiah Wright controversy.

Another thing ... Why have so many websites removed the video of Obama's pastor delivering his "God Damn America" sermon? Click here for your link to the YouTube video – then try to make it play and see what happens. Makes you wanna go "hmmmmmmmmm"

HANNITY & COLMES

So Friday night the H&C producers ask me to be on the show to discuss the Obamamess. This, of course, got the attention of uber-leftist Ellen from NewsHounds. You can read what Ellen has to say by clicking here ... she really loves it when her words get more coverage, so go ahead and read her comments. You'll find it an interesting if not dismaying foray into the mind of an irrational leftist. She, like other Obama defenders, actually equates Obama's 20-year record of attendance at Wright's church with other politico's forays to Bob Jones University in South Carolina. Weak .. but it's all they have.

You can also watch part of my appearance on H&C by clicking on the video link in Ellen's tirade. Or just click here.

Now that you've read what NewsHounds had to say and watched the clip ... poor Ellen actually cried when she watched H&C Friday night (shades of Hillary!) ... here's some of the email I received after the show:

Message:
I saw you on with Sean Hannity speaking about Rev. Wright. I want you to know I agree with you and I want to thank you for speaking out against this anti-Semite, anti white and anti-American. It seems too many in the media are taking a pass on these issues. It frightens me to think a president of the USA could have such close ties to such a hate monger. I have always been a Democrat, but not any more.

Message: Neal,
Not gonna make a speech here, but let me say this:
If I have to, I will spend my own money to see you on National television more often. Not only do I wish I could birth your AND Hannity's next born (and I'm a married man, mind you), your voice, belief system, rationale, wisdom and foresight need to be heard....shall I capitalize the words, "you need to be heard?!"
Message:
Neal,
Thank you for putting that loudmouth ***** in her place! You let her use her own behavior to point out perfectly the emotional tactics these leftists use in discussions on these kinds of programs all the time. She poked out her lower lip and stuck a sock in it the rest of the time.
EXCELLENT WORK!
Message: Mr. Boortz.
Barack Obama by now should have known the potential damage the "Reverend" Wright could cause his presidential campaign. For 20 years this "Man of God" has made some very inflammatory statements that could come back to bite him. And I seriously doubt that the Clintons were behind this. Obama did this to himself.

Message:
I'm watching you on Hannity and Combs. Please run for President! I love the way you handle these commies. this country needs you for President whether they know it or not. Maybe you could get Jeb Bush to be Vice President. Since he is a real estate agent, he is probably good with business. He did good down here in florida. Thank you for all that you do. When will the Neal Boortx TV show coming out? I can't wait.
Message:
I just watched you on Hannity and Colmes - then saw the Obama's minister's interview. It makes perfect sense why Barak's wife is just now "proud" to be an American. If she and her husband, not to mention their children, have been listening to this man's rantings for 20 years - no wonder she thinks that America is in the dumper.
Message:
Your were terrific in how you handled that democrat strategist named Tanya. She set herself up and you simply allowed her to make herself look like a rude and immature fool. What I found particularly great on your part was your line "...it's not her style".
You were a class act Sir!
Message:
Kudos to you for delivering a well-deserved shaming to that LIBERAL, cool-aid-drinking, African-American woman who appeared opposite of you on Hannity & Colmes program last Friday night!

To her credit, she actually DID shut up and let you talk ... UNINTERRUPTED ... except, of course, for some simpering, sophomoric snickering.

Message:
Neal, once again you proved to be a class act! That nit-wit opposite you more than met her match. Enjoy and appreciate your radio show.

TEDDY KENNEDY ... THE HYPOCRITE

Ted Kennedy has proclaimed that he is against a project called Cape Wind, which would be America's first offshore wind farm. (This $900 million project was proposed by a private developer, by the way.) So Teddy doesn't support this project because this is where he sails and he doesn't want to ruin a "national treasure."

I guess people actually took him seriously ... until this picture emerged of Teddy dumping diesel fuel from the bilge of his yacht into the same precious waters that are bound to be destroyed for renewable energy projects.

Hypocrite? You could say that. So what else is new.

ZERO TOLERANCE GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS

Have you heard the story of Amanda Rouse? Amanda is a government high school student in the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District in Seaside, California. One morning, 15-year-old Amanda wasn't feeling well on her bus ride to school. So she decided to stay on the bus as it picked up elementary school students, and then the driver would take her home.

While the bus driver was driving the elementary school route, she fell out of seat at a sharp turn and hit her head. The bus started hitting parked cars on the side of the road. So Amanda hopped into the driver's seat and brought the bus to a safe stop. She saved who knows how many elementary school children.

What's the response to Amanda's actions? The government high school gives her weekend detention for "cutting class." The school says that Amanda didn't follow the proper procedure for leaving school grounds. In other words, she didn't show up to school sick and then check out at the office or get a parent's approval.

Government schools ... gotta love 'em.

NOT ANOTHER ONE OF THESE STORIES ...

We had a story months ago about a police officer who sued a family after responding to call and slipping in the family's home. Well now we have the British version. A paramedic in Great Britain was responding to an emergency call from an 83-year-old man who called because his 82-year-old wife was having an angina attack. Stephen Canning, the paramedic, claims that he stumbled and twisted his ankle after a security light outside the home went out. The elderly couple has now been sent a solicitor's letter claiming loss of earnings following the accident.

THE DNA LIST

Students in Great Britain could be put into a DNA database if they exhibit behavior that indicates they may become criminals later in life. Gary Pugh, director of forensic sciences at Scotland Yard and the new DNA spokesman for the Association of Chief Police Officers say that it is possible to identify "offending traits" in children as young as five years old. (Tattoos? Wearing baseball hats backwards? No father in the household?)

Why is Great Britain considering this? Because they believe identifying criminals at an early age will save the economy huge sums of money and significantly reduce the number of offences committed. The hard part will be assuring the British government subjects that anyone on the DNA database is not a criminal, and it must be looked at as an "emotional issue."

A report from the think-tank Institute for Public Policy Research says that children between five and 12-years-old should be targeted with cognitive behavioral therapy, parenting programs and intensive support. Prevention needs to start young because offenders typically start offending between the ages of 10 and 13.

THINGS I WOULD LIKE TO DO ....

.. but I just know I would get the absolute dog squeeze kicked out of me:

  • Walk up to some guy with a nice brand new car and ask him where he got that nifty dealer sticker on his trunk and ask him if he could maybe get one for me.
  • Ask some guy with a fat wife: "Did she weigh that much when you married her?" I could ask the same question of some lady with a fat husband, but I really don't care all that much.
  • Walk up to some clown on a loud Harley and shove something up his exhaust.
  • Stand at an urban street corner with one of those compressed gas horns. When some jerk comes up with $10,000 worth of woofers in his auto sound system I'll stick the horn in his window and give him a blast.
  • Hang around a golf tournament and kick the first idiot that screams "get in the hole" right square in the nads.
  • Stand at the door of a welfare office collecting cell phones.
  • The next time I encounter a screaming ankle biter in a restaurant just walk right over there and administer a good spanking.
  • Hang around a grocery check out stand saying "You're welcome" to every person using food stamps as they check out ... just praying that one will say "welcome for what?"
  • Walk up to some sleeveless walking graffiti display and ask if I can make a rubbing of their tats.

But ... I'm a pacifist.

GOTTA BRAG ON OUR SISTER TV STATION

Now I've been watching news operations on television and listening on radio for a while now ... over 30 years. The Mother Ship (from whence the Neal Boortz show originates) News-Talk 750 WSB has been kicking fannies in the radio news department for decades. You get sorta used to being the top dawg there. But my purpose here is to brag on the WSB-TV up yonder on the third floor. I suppose it's only fair, since I been quite vocal about some of the absolutely horrid news reporters they've had working for them over the years – names like Bill Nigut and Dale Cardwell. But on Saturday this station just outdid itself.

Now, as you know, Atlanta got nailed with a tornado on Friday evening. As I was leaving the Fox News Bureau at around 9:20 Friday evening (Hannity & Colmes) that tornado was about two miles behind me. On Saturday the rough weather moved right back in with tornado watches and warnings from Atlanta into North Georgia.

I didn't know how bad things were out there until I turned on the tube to watch Arnie's golf tournament. Couldn't get it. Every station was concentrating on the terrible weather that was moving through. That was when I got my first gander at Channel 2's fancy new weather radar. Forget the golf tournament .. I just sat there transfixed at the capabilities of this radar. They could give you a sideways 3D look at a thunderstorm. Then they could peel away the layers of that thunderstorm until you could see the areas of hail inside the nympho-cumulus cloud. You could also see an outline of where the hail was actually falling to the ground. This special radar also showed a sideways view of exactly where the funnel clouds were ... you could see them reaching for the ground. On Saturday afternoon the Channel 2 weather guys were telling us exactly where the tornados were, and where they were headed .. and they nailed it. I made two phone calls Saturday afternoon; one to my daughter and the other to Congressman Linder. I told both of them to get their cars into the garage because they were about to see a nifty hail storm. Both of them called me back to tell me "good call" and to ask me how I did that. I just told them to go to WSB-TV.

Now maybe I'm just a bit more interested in weather than the average Joe. I fly little bitty airplanes, and just wandering into any of those clouds would have meant that they would have started the search for my replacement on Sunday.

I understand that there's a pretty interesting story as to how Channel 2 got their hands on this incredible computer radar program. I need to verify some things and perhaps I can share that with you later. In the meantime, if you live in Atlanta it is clear .. when the nasty weather approaches the other stations might as well sign off the air. Everyone needs to be watching Channel 2 --- expecially since you don't have to put up with the insufferable Nigut and the dishonest Dale Cardwell.

REDNECK SCRAP BOOK

Apparently "hey ya'll, watch this" is an international phenomenon. More in the Redneck Scrap Book.

READING ASSIGNMENTS

Did you know that there is a "conservative radio pundit industrial-complex?" Why yes .. there is! It seems that we are really getting on some people's nerves. Give the Democrats the power and we're really going to be in the regulatory crosshairs. This character spends about 5000 words expressing his animosity toward Rush and Sean ... oh, and he's a school teacher. No surprise there. He's out there teaching middle school students this stuff.

In the latest Zogby polls, John McCain is beating both Hillary and Obama.

This week the Supreme Court will review the DC handgun ban.

The secret Senate session failed to convince Democrats of a need for a permanent FISA fix.

Attorney General Mike Mukasey believes that the terrorists who plotted 9/11 being held at Guantanamo Bay should not be executed if they are convicted. Oh yeah ... like that's going to happen.

Michigan agreed to hold a do-over primary election in early June.

Someone has created a 4 step AP Style Guide on Defending Barack Obama.

Indonesia's President has called for a jihad of peace to spark an "Islamic Renaissance" for the Muslim world to improve its image.

Here's some comforting news about the peaceful religion of Islam ... Hamas has openly admitted that it is developing a "death-seeking" culture that uses women, children and elderly persons as human shields.

WalMart in Dearborn, Michigan will now offer Muslims a Middle Eastern food isle, included with other ethnic foods. No word on whether or not you have to take off your shoes to shop this aisle.

This comes at little surprise ... the Organization of the Islamic Conference has called for Israelis to be tried for international war crimes for their "heinous" attacks against Palestine. No word about the hundreds of rockets fired by Hamas from Gaza every month.

Muslim nations want to create a "legal instrument" to crack down on defamation of Islam.

Two moonbats in Berkeley were arrested Friday from entering the military recruitment center and sitting on the floor, blocking the door, and refusing the leave.

A government school teacher told a student that he "fit the stereotype of a terrorist" ... you can imagine what happened next.

Maryland has a something called the Maryland Criminal Injuries Compensation Fund, which is supposed to assist victims of crime ... but has spent $1.8 million on drug dealers, violent offenders and other criminals in the past 4 years.

Dallas is considering shutting off its red light cameras ... because too many people are now obeying the law, and the police department isn't generating enough money to pay for the cameras. That, by the way, would be $3,799 per month per online camera.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is going to investigate how a road sign ended up directing drivers to "Live Nudes" off of exit 45. Love it!

A father in Australia wants an elite private school to repay him $40,000 after his twin sons flunked their final exams.

Here's your idiot story of the day ... a driver in Germany was pulled over for talking on his cell phone, but he got off by saying that he was only using the phone to warm his ear.

Ever heard of the "Macon Music?" Well, they're a minor league baseball team in Macon, Georgia. Guess what? They're having an "Eliot Spitzer Night" at the ballpark! I love it, except someone has to tell them that the Mayflower Hotel is in Washington DC.
