LET'S TAX THOSE OIL COMPANIES
Nancy Pelosi is pushing a proposal through the congress to seize an
additional $18 billion dollars in oil company revenues for the government. One
of the things this sickening leftist wants to spend that money on is
"alternative energy sources."
Let me just take a moment out of your busy day here to tell you how this
"government spending oil company money on alternative energy sources" thing
works.
Instead of the oil companies – who actually have some expertise in these
matters – spending their profits on research and development of alternative
energy, the money will be placed into the hands of politicians. This money will
then be handed out on the basis of political considerations. Congressman X is
in trouble next year, so let's spend some money in his district on some
alternative energy plan. Congressman Y cooperated with Congressman Z on some
legislation last year, so let's reward Congressman Y with a nice little earmark
for some energy company in his district.
In short .. the money will be passed out based on political considerations
rather than being spent by those businesses most able to accomplish the desired
goals.
MCCAIN AND OBAMA ON IRAQ
Ok so let's set the stage. Barack Obama and John McCain had a little back
and forth yesterday over al Qaeda's presence in Iraq.
Here's how it went:
Obama made this statement during the debate two nights ago: "Now, I always
reserve the right for the president -- as commander in chief, I will always
reserve the right to make sure that we are looking out for American interests.
And if al Qaeda is forming a base in Iraq, then we will have to act in a way
that secures the American homeland and our interests abroad."
John McCain fired back with this comment: "I have some news. Al Qaeda is in
Iraq. It's called Al Qaeda in Iraq. My friends, if we left, they wouldn't be
establishing a base. They'd be taking a country, and I'm not going to allow that
to happen, my friends."
Then Obama decided to respond to McCain's comments: "I have some news for
John McCain ... There was no such thing as Al Qaeda in Iraq until George Bush and
John McCain decided to invade Iraq."
Say what you will about your beliefs of al Qaeda in Iraq before the war.
Dick Cheney asserts that al Qaeda was operating in Iraq before March 2003 and
Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was leading the branch. But the fact of the matter is ... in
Obama's statement during the debate, he seemed completely unaware that not only
has al Qaeda "formed a base" in Iraq, but it is responsible for much of the
unfortunate bloodshed in Iraq and in many other countries. That will make for a
great commander and chief.
One of the more ridiculous rhetorical gimmicks the left likes to use to slam
Bush's attempts to protect our country from Islamic terrorism is this "The war
in Afghanistan was OK, but not in Iraq." The premise there is that we're
fighting countries. We're not. We're fighting Islamists. In this war against
Islamic fanaticism you fight where you find the fanatics. Clearly they were in
Afghanistan. Just as clearly they were in Iraq. Somehow the MoveOn Democrats
want us to believe that fighting Islamic terrorists is only OK if they're in
Afghanistan. If they're found somewhere else ... you have to leave them alone.
CLIMATE CHANGE VS. GLOBAL WARMING
Apparently I am not hip to the lingo that the moonbats are using these days.
The words "global warming" have become too politically incorrect ... at least
according to Al. Here's his email:
Subject: Climate
Change Name: Al Russ
Message: Neal,
You ignorant prick. Listen to the studies and news media talking about what Man
is doing to the envirenment. You keep complaining about people talking about
global warming. Well, no one is talking about global warming anymore. The
correct termonology is "climate change". Climate change covers everything.
Whether the earth warms or cools, its is all covered by "climate change". Also,
tornadoes, hurricanes, flooding, wildfires, droughts; all caused by climate
change. Get with the times Neal, no one is talking about global warming
anymore. The left has found other termonologhy that covers more of the
bases.
Al, folks, is government educated. That's why we didn't correct his spelling
errors. I'm trying to figure out which side he's on here. He's not all that
good at communicating, so I don't know if he recognizes global warming to be the
complete scam that it is, or if he's fully bought into this nonsense. At any
rate, Al wants to use the term "climate change" because it is a cover-all-basis
term that he can use with which he can blame all of the world's problems. The
fact is that Al can't believe in global warming anymore because he has been
proven wrong. But rather than admitting he was wrong, he would rather call it
"climate change" and go right back to his whining and complaining.
Now I rarely do this, but I am actually going to respond to Al's ill-educated
remarks. Al says "tornadoes, hurricanes, flooding, wildfires, droughts" are all
caused by climate change. That is simply incorrect. Let's stick with
hurricanes.
The NOAA's National Hurricane Center in Miami says, "There is nothing in the
U.S. hurricane damage record that indicates global warming has caused a
significant increase in destruction along our coasts." Now I'm sure that they
meant "climate change" ... but you get the point. Global warming has not caused
more intense hurricanes. In fact, a team of scientists have found that economic
damages caused by hurricanes have increased in the United States NOT because of
global warming but because of greater population, infrastructure and wealth that
has piled up along U.S. coastlines. There has been no increase in hurricane
intensity, only the number of people that could be affected by them.
Here's a way to look at it. If the 1926 Great Miami Hurricane hit during
this upcoming hurricane season ... it would cause $140 billion to $157 billion
worth of damage. To put that into perspective, Hurricane Katrina caused $81
billion worth of damage. It would be so "devastating" because rich people have
decided to come to these vulnerable coastal towns and build mansions and tennis
courts, keep yachts and private jets. Now I know that Al wouldn't be too upset
about that ... after all, those evil rich people didn't deserve to have all of
those goodies to begin with.
So Al, you and your liberal buddies can go and call it whatever you like ...
use "climate change" to justify the weakening of our economy with policies to
redistribute the wealth to "less fortunate" nations. But hey, I'm the ignorant
one ... right?!
BANNING GUNS
Yesterday on the program I got to talking about a John Stossel column about
gun laws ... and how they don't work. Then I get the emails, "Boortz – you're
wrong! How can you believe that more guns equals more protection ...". In fact,
researchers can find no instance in history where banning handguns has led to
less violence involving handguns. It just isn't the case.
Now some of you may not have seen this information in a while, if not at
all. But here's what happened in Australia just one year after gun owners were
forced to surrender their means of protection. By the way, "disarming"
Australia cost the taxpayers $500 million.
A dramatic increase in criminal activity has been experienced.
OBSERVABLE FACTS, AFTER 12 MONTHS OF DATA:
- Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2%
- Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6%
- Australia-wide, armed-robberies are up 44% (yes,
FORTY-FOUR PERCENT)
- In the state of Victoria, homicides-with-firearms are
up 300%
- Figures over the previous 25 years show a steady
decrease in homicides-with-firearms (changed dramatically in the past 12
months)
- Figures over the previous 25 years show a steady
decrease in armed-robbery-with-firearms (changed dramatically in the past 12
months)
- There has been a dramatic increase in
breakins-and-assaults-of- the-elderly
- At the time of the ban, the Prime Minister said
"self-defense is not a reason for owning a firearm"
Are you starting to get the picture, folks? Now here is some good news you
don't see every day. A bill is being proposed in Oklahoma that would
allow college students to carry concealed weapons on campus. It's headed to
the House floor as we speak. It would allow students to carry firearms if they
are at least 21-years-old and are licensed to carry a concealed weapon. The
bill would only apply to government colleges and universities. Rep. Jason
Murphey, who proposed the bill, says that the greater value of this law would be
that potential shooters would be hesitant to come onto college campuses.
WHEW ... AFTER ALL OF THAT, I NEED AN EGO BOOSTER
Subject: Thanks, I needed that. Name: Jason
Message: Neal,
Thanks for working so hard to do such a great job on your show and on Nealz
News. I just spent too much time this morning arguing with some friends I have
in California about their liberal "problems" with our nation. I was exhausted
and upset at their ignorance, stupidity, laziness, etc. I felt drained and
saddened by this and by the fact that their isn't one good candidate to vote for
in this Presidential race coming up. I went to Nealz Nuze and BOOM... there was
more ammunition, and hope. Your work is truly noble and I just wanted to say
thanks for all the hard work you put into telling us the truth and making us
mad.

As I reported yesterday on the program,
Bill Buckley has gone Tango Uniform.
Apparently if you are a Democrat, you are
required to have a plan for universal healthcare. At least according to
Hillary Clinton. By the way .. ."universal health care" is just another way
for Democrats to say "nationalized health care."

That's $1 million for a wheelchair ramp. Thanks to a listener for bringing
