AFTERTHOUGHT! | | Well .. the winsome web wench is back, so we can start playing with some afterthoughts again. Unfortunately I don't have the expertise to load these notes on the web page myself. I'm am highly trained to do a few specific things ... beyond that, I'm helpless. I guess we had better get our discussions of serious matters out of the way in the next few days. Gas prices are on the way up .. and in a week or so all people will want to do is whine about how much they're having to pay to fill up their car. We're going to institute a new rule on the Boortz Show .... If you use a cell phone to call and complain about gas prices ... you aren't getting on the air. If you can afford a cell phone, you don't need to bitch about gas prices. Kowabunga! The natives are restless. They certainly didn't like what I had to say about Indians and the Seattle government schools. Truth hurts, I guess. Yeah .. white Europeans were somewhat nasty ... but they weren't doing anything to the Indians that they weren't doing to each other before they got here. So ... what's wrong with that? Now we have a congressman from Oregon spouting off about Georgia's governor praying for rain? You folks really need to do some more reading .. ya know? Some great news ... New York Governor Eliot Spitzer pulled the plug on his plan to give illegal aliens drivers' licenses. Why?? Because his approval ratings are tanking. Lowe's has now apologized for labeling Christmas trees as "family trees" in its 2007 holiday catalogue. Who knew that in Amsterdam it is illegal to steal virtual furniture? Soccer moms ... better watch out for those pesky soccer goals! |
WAL-MART PROFITS ARE UP!
Now we sit and wait to see what Hillary is going to do. Will she announce that she wants to "take those profits" and tell us what she'll do with them? Or will she leave Wal-Mart alone? There are two ways this could go: On the one hand, Wal-Mart is not unionized. This doesn't sit well with Democrats. Perhaps she could announce that she wants to, as she puts it, "take those profits" and use them for some phony jobs security program for union members. On the other hand, people don't need to shop at Wal-Mart. Thus far Hillary has pretty much reserved her "I want to take those profits" screeching for private sector companies that produce products that people actually need. For Hillary and her ilk private enterprise and the profit motive is only legitimate when it comes to products and services that people don't actually need. We'll see how this one plays out. SPOTTED ON A CAR THAT ISN'T NEAL'S...
We offer this without commentary for your enjoyment...
EDWARDS' FAMILY LEAVE
Now the great John "poverty tour" Edwards has released his plan for the Family Leave Act. Edwards proposes spending $2 billion a year (that we don't have) to help states create family leave programs that's twice as much as Hillary Clinton's suggestion. But Edwards wants at least eight weeks of paid time off every year for so-called family leave .. and he wants it by 2014
Edwards also wants to expand the federal Family and Medical Leave Act to include 13 million workers who are eligible for unpaid leave. But wait! There's more! He also wants to require all businesses to offer workers a minimum of seven paid sick days a year. Add it up. Edwards wants to use the police power of government to force employers to pay employees for a minimum of 47 days a year ... for not working. This is in addition to vacation days! Just remember, to Democrats like John Edwards, government is the solution to everything. Edwards says, "It works in combination with universal health care, universal preschool, and a whole series of things that are essentially aimed at making sure we strengthen and grow the middle class in this country, and provide some level of financial security that does not exist today." Universal ... universal ... that's just another way of saying "funded by your tax dollars." There is not one single penny earned by one individual in this country that people like Edwards don't covet. They're smart, though. They'll be sure to take the money from people who's votes they don't need .. and then spend it on those more likely to vote for them. If Edwards and the MoveOn Democrats were to get their way on programs like these, all future election campaigns would be peppered with warnings that "If you vote for my opponent he will take away your paid family leave! If you'll vote for me, I'll give you a few days more!" Nowhere in our Constitution can I find any article or section that gives Washington the power to force employers to pay people for not working. Once you've accepted the premise that Washington does have this power ... what's the limit? REID BACK AT IT
Harry Reid is back to his old tricks. Bring the troops home or else ... Democrats won't approve any more money for the war against Islamic extremism. Next week Congress votes on a $50 billion bill for operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, but it will require Bush to initiate immediate troop withdrawals and end combat by December 2008. If Democrats don't give Bush the $50 billion, the military will have to drain its annual budget to keep the soldiers protected. Last week's budget for the military, which was approved by Congress, was apparently filled with non-war related projects. Pork, I think it's called. House Democratic Leader Steny Hoyer says that we have to pay for whatever the cost to protect the American people, "But tragically, unfortunately, incredibly, the war is not making us safer." Did you hear that folks? The war is not making us safer. That is according to a leading Democrat in Congress. Is there panic setting in among Democrats because the news from Iraq is taking a turn for the better? THANKSGIVING
With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I guess we could have expected the holiday to get wrapped up into some sort of government political correctness. And where else would we find this than in our very own government schools!
In Seattle government schools, they want to make sure that their children are indoctrinated into the understanding that Thanksgiving is an offensive holiday. That's right! Seattle government schools will mask this all in the name of "honoring the diversity of our students, staff and families." See, the government schools are afraid of offending the Native students, for whom, they say, Thanksgiving is "a particularly difficult time." So the government school district has provided a little cheat sheet to teach children the "myths" about Thanksgiving, to help students understand the holiday from a Native American perspective. It advises to start with Myth #11: Myth #11: Thanksgiving is a happy time Fact: For many Indian people, "Thanksgiving" is a time of mourning, of remembering how a gift of generosity was rewarded by theft of land and seed corn, extermination of many from disease and gun, and near total destruction of many more from forced assimilation. As currently celebrated in this country, "Thanksgiving" is a bitter reminder of 500 years of betrayal returned for friendship.
What a crock of you-know-what. Any Indians you find mourning Thanksgiving in this country are doing so because moronic leftists are telling them that they should. Fact: The European settlers didn't do one negative thing to the Indians who preceded them that the Indians hadn't been doing to each other for hundreds of years. I guess taking someone else's seed corn or land is only bad if they're a different color than you. WIDENING THE RIO GRANDE
Many Texan mayors are opposed to plans to secure our border with Mexico by building a fence. Instead, the Mayors have come up with their own solution: widen and deepen the Rio Grande. This way, rather than breaking their legs trying to climb over a fence, the Mexicans can simply drown. How about stocking it with alligators while we're at it? Six mayors of Hispanic towns in South Texas call the fence the "wall of shame." They have vowed to sue the federal government in order to block construction of the fence. The mayor of Brownsville has proposed widening 42 miles of the river, which will cost taxpayers $40 million. The mayors say that widening the river would increase the time it takes to cross the river to a whopping four or five minutes ... this would make it easier for Border Patrol on speed boats to spot potential illegal immigrants. The catch: Mexico also has to agree to the project because we share the river. Hey by the way, where is Mexico's share of the money? STELLAR GOVERNMENT TEACHER
A government school teacher in Idaho used school computers to talk about his fantasies of having sex with (and raping) teenagers. Peter Perkins taught social studies at Rogers High School. He was also photographed "twisting the nipples" of bare-chested high school boys in a bathroom. He wrote about his fantasies of raping a student, used district computers to have explicit online chats and download graphic files.
Peter Perkins was removed from the classroom a year ago ... but he is still being paid. Yep. Taxpayers of the Spokane government school district have paid $69,000 in the past year for this creep's salary and benefits ... for doing absolutely nothing ... which, by the way, pretty well describes many other government school teachers are being paid to do. Oh and the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction has yet to determine whether or not Perkins' teaching certificate should be revoked. Golly, ya think? That's government for you. Oh yeah, and here's a link to the 2005 interview with Perkins by Frontline. READING ASSIGNMENTS Here's something you probably won't hear in the lamestream media. A key al Qaeda terrorist was killed in a US helicopter strike. Talal al-Bazi was a former Iraqi police officer who held the post of minister in the "Islamic State of Iraq." Let's hope he heard the fling-wings coming. All branched of the US military have met or exceeded their recruiting goals for October, including the Army. Madeleine Albright is heading a new task force to help the US prevent future genocide. Define genocide! Remember, under the definitions contained in the United Nations Convention on the Causes and Prevention of Genocide, just hurting the feelings of one member of a protected group constitutes genocide. Research in Great Britain shows that 91% of national news articles about Muslims are negative. Sounds about right to me. This story of police in New York shooting a man armed with a hairbrush has already become a racial story ... they shot him let's say it together, folks -- "because he was black." And just remember, a decrease in the number of blacks serving in the military is all President Bush's fault ... at least according to CBS. Damn ... I thought it was because of global warming. Parents are apparently so afraid that their children are going to become complete lardasses that they are taking babies as young as four months old to gym class. More than one half of teenagers in Colorado say that they send text messages while driving. Don't expect the legislature to do anything about this. Mommies and Daddies would scream! Young people in Europe are more likely to access the Internet than turn on their televisions. A Norwegian man is suing his employer after he was fired for wearing short-sleeve T-shirts rather than long-sleeve T-shirts. Let's take a look at what Taranto dug off the web yesterday. This column should be a daily stop or all of you. Here's a story on some crime statistics which show that the D.C. handgun ban was a waste of time and enforcement effort. We all know that it's fashionable among the denizens of the left to just absolutely hate evil rich people. Jonah Goldberg writes that "The rich aren't made of money." Time magazine's Joe Klein has a warning for MoveOn Code Pink Democrats. Things in Iraq are improving .... So tread lightly. Just for fun ... take this test on state capitols. My score was 19 out of 20 correct. So ... nobody's perfect. The Clinton "planted question" story seems to be growing. Imagine my distress. This woman is a phony. Anyone who doesn't realize that the question was planted and just who she was supposed to call on in that audience is so far removed from reality they're beyond hope. Why don't politicians take voter fraud seriously? Read The Fine Art of Voter Fraud. Don't you think they really ought to update the anti-Boortz website? Come on, folks! It's been over three years now! Parents of the year ... they dropped their 6-year-old son off at a skateboard park, and the son fractured his skull. Now the parents are being indicted on felony criminal mistreatment charges. And now to get you in the holiday spirit ... The 25 Most Baffling Toys From Around the World. |
