SAN FRANCISCO!
Belinda and I are spending the week in San
Francisco with our families? Why? Well, because we can,
and because we have a fine affiliate radio station here, "Truth
Radio For The Bay" KTRB AM 860,
with a studio we can use! From noon to three here in San
Francisco it's more like Painful Truth Radio for the Bay.
Belinda and here family spent the weekend at Yosemite National Park.
The Queen and I went to Napa yesterday and had a great lunch at the
Auberge
do Soleil restaurant overlooking the valley. No quid pro
quo here at all ... If you happen to be in the area I want you to
enjoy a fantastic lunch there just like we did. Be sure to sit
on the terrace.
BOOK
SIGNING THIS AFTERNOON!
Belinda and I will be at the Book Passage book
store in Corte Madera at 1:00 p.m. to sign copies of "Somebody's
Gotta Say It." If they happen to have a few copies of "The
Fair Tax Book" we'll be happy to sign those too! See you
there! |
FAIRNESS FOR ALL!
Trent Lott
and Diane Feinstein had a little chat on
Fox News last night. They discussed some of our favorite topics:
immigration and (you guessed it!) the Fairness Doctrine.
Now, just
a little over a week ago Trent Lott gave me and my colleagues credit for
"running America." Well maybe not me, but talk radio. But, shockingly, Trent
Lott is doing the back-pedal. He is saying that it isn't talk radio's fault.
Really? Nope. He is saying that it is Congress' fault for not explaining
itself ... for not communicating to the great unwashed. We all just need for
government to 'splain everything to us and it will all be OK.
Lott talks
about the immigration debate saying," Talk radio defined it without us
explaining that there were reasons for it and the good things that were in it."
Well guess what Trent? We did the research. We read what parts of the bill
were actually available to the public. We've read the Heritage Foundation
reports. We've read analysis from Congressional offices. We read the
Congressional Budget Office report which said that the amnesty bill would stop
about 25% of future border crossings. Sorry, Senator: we have done
the research and we still say no.
That was
just kicking off the interview. Then Diane Feinstein comes into the picture.
Here is how Senator Feinstein describes talk radio, "Well, in my view, talk
radio tends to be one-sided. It also tends to be dwelling in hyperbole. It's
explosive. It pushes people to, I think, extreme views without a lot of
information."
Did you
hear that? Folks, I always tell you not to believe anything you hear on the
Neal Boortz show. But I have to tell you that I don't just sit up here and flap
my trap and make things up. I do research. I don't invent studies or stories
out of thin air. I'm just not that creative. But when I do have an opinion or
view, it comes from a story I've read or a study I've researched. I have my
right to have my own opinion on it.
But wait,
not for long! Then Feinstein gets into the fairness doctrine. She claims that
if talk radio was "fair," then the other "good" side of the amnesty bill would
have been forced to be discussed, and it never would have been defeated in the
first place.
WALLACE:
So would you revive the fairness doctrine?
FEINSTEIN:
Well, I'm looking at it, as a matter of fact, Chris, because I think there ought
to be an opportunity to present the other side. And unfortunately, talk radio is
overwhelmingly one way.
And there
you have it. There ought to be an "opportunity" to present the other side.
Guess what Senator. There is a way. Air America is presenting the "other
side." The trouble is, nobody is listening! Sad to say, but nobody
wants to listen to "progressive" radio. That's not my fault. Why should I be
punished for putting out a product that people want to listen to. Just because
conservatives can prosper in talk radio and "progressives" can't just infuriates
the hell out of liberals. Talk radio is "overwhelmingly one way." Well,
what about CBS, NBC, ABC, MSNBC, CNN .... you get the idea.
Feinstein
might as well have been in the elevator with Hillary Clinton and Barbara Boxer,
huffing and puffing about ending talk radio. More on that today with Senator
Inhofe ...
THE
WEEK HAS COME ... AMNESTY'S BACK
I'm sorry,
the Immigration Reform Bill. Forgot that we have to be PC about legalizing
millions of criminals. But then again, I am running America!
Senator
Jon Kyl was one of the architects of this terrible piece of legislation. He
himself acknowledges that bloggers and ... you guessed it! ...
talk radio have contributed greatly to the changes of the bill. Well
imagine that! It has been re-affirmed that talk radio hosts and callers are
important voices, and we have shaped this debate. I guess it's true ... we are
running America!
But
Tuesday is the first test vote. They'll try to stop debate. They tried
before ... and failed. And quite frankly, it's not looking too good for this
one either. Thank god. I'm sure that Jamie Dupree will have more to tell us on
the buzz in Washington, later on today.
TYPICAL LIBERAL THOUGHT PROCESSES .....
Er .... excuse me. I surely meant to say
"progressive" thought. Sure don't want to offend, do we? Here in
San Francisco I notice that the "P" work appears in the local newspapers with
the frequency of page numbers.
At any rate ... for our first adventure with the liberal
thought process let's take you to our old friend Jay Bookman, the deputy
editorial page editor of the left-wing Atlanta Journal Constitution.
Jay
decided to write a little column last week about the tremendous economic growth
taking place in Ireland; sometimes called the "Irish Miracle."
Bookman felt compelled to write the column because Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue
visited the country To be sure, Bookman gets this part right:
"Certainly, Ireland has made that
transition to high-tech hub. Its economic growth over the past decade or so
has been astounding. Once a slumbering backwater of Europe, Ireland now
boasts one of the most dynamic economies in the industrialized world, with a
growth rate more than twice that of the United States."
Very good! Mr. Bookman got that part right.
He continues: "That striking success was not accidental. Since the
late '80s, Irish leaders have taken a hard look at their country and what it
needed to succeed, and they have pushed to ensure that those needs were met."
Now Bookman is going to tell us all about what is called the "Irish Miracle."
Or is he? Does he really understand why this all happened? If he
does, will he tell the truth? Can a loyal liberal give credit where credit
is due here? Let's see:
In his column Bookman cites two items for Ireland's
tremendous advances; anti-poverty programs and spending on education.
He writes that: ",
Irish leaders made a national commitment to eventually eliminate persistent
poverty from their country, adopting what they called a National Anti-Poverty
Strategy." He adds: They began to invest heavily in their schools,
increasing spending on primary grades by more than 50 percent between 1995 and
2002."
OK ... so we have super spending on schools
and anti-poverty programs. Does he stop there? Well, pretty much.
That's it. He does say "... money wasn't
all they invested. Irish leaders also poured political attention and emphasis
into education, with remarkable results." Oh great, more political
intervention in education. That always works. Then we get the kicker.
The resurrection of Ireland "... happened because of active,
vigorous leadership that embraced government as a necessary partner of private
enterprise in making people's lives better."
So .. there you go! Spoken like a true
liberal! Ireland is kicking butt over there in the European Union and it's
all because they spent more money on government schools, got government more
involved in those schools, and created a great government/free enterprise
partnership that made people's lives better. There you have it.
Ireland is hot because of government. Again ... spoken like a true
liberal.
The truth? Well, partially.
There was higher spending, particularly on higher education. And there was
a new standard of cooperation between government and business. What
Bookman doesn't tell you, though, is that there was a substantial reduction in
the tax load on Irish citizens and businesses coupled with a serious reduction
in government regulation of the free market economy. Bookman didn't seem
to mention anything about the lower taxes and the deregulation of business and
the Irish labor market. That tax level, by the way, is substantially lower than
the tax level in the U.S. And why not mention these two things?
Because they're conservative principles, that's why. Conservatives
continually say that lower taxes and less government bureaucracy will lead to a
faster growing economy. Ireland proves it, but Bookman ignored it.
Bookman wanted to promote the cause of spending more on our schools and
increasing the control of our economy ... without telling the whole truth.
Not surprising.
Now ... for our second foray into the dark
recesses of the leftist mind, let's read a letter to the editor that appeared in
the Saturday edition of the AJC. Kimberly Thomas wanted to write about the
current immigration debate
"Racism is being repackaged
"Beware of racism. Many Americans need to
critically analyze their thoughts, opinions, and ideas. The immigration
debate involves deep issues of racism. Popular propaganda has mispackaged
racism as patriotism. "Pro-American" has become "anti-Immigrant."
"The comments contained in letters
published in the AJC, as well as on radio and TV talk shows, have been
overwhelmingly negative toward Hispanics.
"Again,
we need to critically analyze our thoughts. Many Americans today are looking
at immigrants and categorizing them. When we categorize people, we cease to
see their humanity. As humans, we belong to a global community which
transcends nationality.
"Let us all be careful and discerning in
forming our thoughts and opinions.
KIMBERLY THOMAS, Kennesaw
Needless to say, Kimberly Thomas has no clue
as to the definition of "racism." She certainly isn't alone. But
let's take a look at a few of her thoughts expressed in her letter:
- "The immigration debate involves deep
issues of racism." Well of course! The people flooding across
the border aren't white. So what if they're breaking the law.
That means nothing! The fact that they're not white means everything!
If you're upset with what they're doing it simply cannot be because they're
breaking our laws. It must be because of their race!
- "Pro-American" has become
"anti-Immigrant." Sorry, Kimberly. This isn't about being
anti-immigrant. It's about being anti-illegal immigrant.
For some reason the liberal mindset just can't come to terms with that
little "illegal" thing.
- "The comments ... on radio ... have
been overwhelmingly negative toward Hispanics." Sorry, Kim. Got
it wrong again. They've been overwhelmingly negative toward people who
break our laws. It's that pesky law thing again.
- "Many Americans today are looking at
immigrants and categorizing them." Wrong again. We're looking at
illegal aliens and categorizing them as criminals!
- "As humans, we belong to a global
community which transcends nationality." I guess this means that we're
bad because we try to enforce a national border.
- "Let
us all be careful and discerning in forming our thoughts and opinions."
You should try that advice yourself.
The liberal mind ... quite a thing to
behold, don't you think?
THE
WONDERS OF PRE-K
The
government just can't wait to get its grubby little hands on your children.
The Superintendent of Maryland says, "If I had my way ... I'd do away with the
senior year of high school and invest the money in early childhood education."
And why does she want to do this? Because teachers are complaining that
children aren't ready for kindergarten.
Ok, so I
didn't go to pre-school. But look, folks, if you aren't "prepared" for
kindergarten then simply turn around and thank your parents. Isn't it about
time that parents start to take responsibility for their own children, rather
than expect the government to do everything to prepare their little ones for
"the real world." If you don't want your kid to be a bad student, drop out of
school and turn into a criminal, here is one place you can start: READ. Read to
them. Talk to them. Let them run around on a playground and socialize with
other children.
It's
government employees like this Superintendent that want to make sure that your
kids are educated "properly." That means being good little government subjects
at the youngest age possible.
JANE
FONDA IS BACK TO HER GOOD 'OLE SELF
Where
would America be if it weren't for the traitor Jane Fonda? How many American
soldiers died because of her antics?
Well, Hanoi Jane
is back on the anti-American campaign (as if she ever left it).
Did anyone
happen to see
this ad in the New York Times? Jane and her fellow comrades of The World
Can't Wait are on their latest campaign to impeach George Bush and Dick Cheney.
Didn't you know? They are "war criminals," they openly torture innocent people
and they no better than Adolf Hitler. Did you get that? Hitler. You know that
a liberal campaign is off to a great start when they throw Hitler into the mix.
There is absolutely no merit to the debate, no willingness to discuss ... just
call it Conservative, liken it to Hitler and be done with it. You have yourself
a true anti-American campaign.
Bush and
Cheney are not war criminals. First of all, Cheney is not the commander and
chief. Only the president has that role – get it right. And "war crimes"
implies that that America violated some
international law. Go ahead, Jane. Give me a cite!
Now
guess who else signed on to the campaign? Why none other than our probable
Green Party nominee for President, the cutest little jihadist no longer in
Congress, the lovely Cynthia McKinney! We know she has a great right hook, why
doesn't she just take care of the job herself?
Now
here is a criminal for you. Saddam Hussein's cousin was sentenced to death
by an Iraqi court yesterday. He is going to hang. And that is exactly how it
should be. He helped with the killing of hundreds of thousands of Kurds and
Shite Muslims. Using chemicals weapons to wipe out people based on their
religion ... THAT'S a war crime. Let's see if Hamas Jane has anything to say
about this guy!

READING ASSIGNMENTS
It's
official,
Gordon Brown is stepping up to take Tony Blair's place as Prime Minister of
Britain. Let's hope that Brown is willing, just as Blair was, to fight Islamic
extremism, rather than rely on typical European appeasement.
Police in
Tijuana
discovered a tunnel under the border that was used to smuggle drugs and
possibly illegal immigrants into the United States. More than 50 tunnels have
been found in the last few years. And the cost to fill them (paid by U.S.
taxpayers, of course) ... almost $3 million.
Here are
some of your tax dollars at work! Health care for the uninsured and undocumented
costs you
billions of dollars every year.
Jesse Jackson was arrested for refusing to leave private property while
protesting for stricter gun laws.
Looks like
the Hillary camp is in trouble
for illegal campaign contributions in her 2000 race for Senate. Hmmm this
little insight doesn't appear on HillaryHub! I wonder why.
The
incompetency of state governments really shines
in this terrible story. It took Washington state 10 years to decide
whether this abusive mother was fit to be a foster care parent. Not to mention
the hundreds of thousands of dollars the woman got from taxpayers through
welfare checks and foster care payments.
What are
Red Bull energy drinks and ephedrine good for (besides a heart attack)?
Apparently,
getting across the U.S. border!
A woman
registered her dog to vote, to protest voter registration laws, which make
it too easy for non-citizens to vote. Apparently she was right! The "dog"
voted in two elections.
Well,
Belinda and I are out here in San Francisco. She'll be happy know that the
mayor of San Francisco is trying to curb global warming ...
by banning all government use of bottled water. What's next? Making it
illegal?
Oops. A
Hollywood celebutwit
wore a communist Mao Zedong bag while on vacation in Peru. Looks like she
forgot about a little thing called history, when Maoists killed over 70,000
Peruvians. Shouldn't expect anything more from Hollywood.
Here's a
statistic for you: 29 percent of men report having 15 or more female sexual
partners in a lifetime ...
more on THAT study.
Talk radio seems to be getting a lot of the credit for getting in the way of
the amnesty bill. Perhaps too much. I'm reminded that the nail that
is sticking out the furthest is the one that gets pounded down first.
Technology makes it much easier to keep on top of
how government is spending your money. |
