FRENCH ELECTION - NOT GOOD NEWS FOR
HILLARY
Segolene Royal, the woman recently
defeated in her quest for the French presidency, and Hillary Clinton have much
in common. They are both women trying to become the first female
presidents of their respective countries. They are both European-style
socialists. Hillary is largely dependent on the women's vote, so was
Segolene. Both promise large expansions in government welfare
programs. Just too many similarities to ignore.
Oops, we have a problem. Segolene
lost. Not only did Segolene lose, but she didn't even get a majority of
the women's vote in France!
Yesterday morning I brought this up on
the show. Here we have a female socialist trying to become the first
president of her country, and she can't even carry the woman's vote.
Comparisons to Hillary are inevitable and proper.
So .. today we find
Hillary's Handlers
in damage control mode. They're out there telling us that the comparisons
between Hillary and Segolene are just flat-out invalid.
Question: What do you think
Hillary's handlers would be saying if Segolene had won? Do you believe for
a minute that Wolfson et al would be trumpeting Segolene's win as good news for
Hillary and an indication that modern voters aren't afraid to support a woman
for their leader.
At any rate ... it really does look like
Hillary in 2008. In the reading assignments below you'll see a link to a
column from Bruce Bartlett where he argues that a Republican simply cannot win.
MULTIPLE KILLER ON THE LOOSE
In 1969 Carter Arnold Jr. went on a
killing spree in the Atlanta area with a friend. When the carnage was over
six people were dead. One of those people was a 12-year-old boy.
Another one of the victims was Daniel Arthur DuLac. DuLac was a veteran.
He had been home from Vietnam for only six months. Arnold shot DuLac in
the chest with a shotgun.
Carter Arnold was convicted of the
murder of three of the victims, including DuLac. He was also convicted of
nine robberies. He received a total of five life sentences.
You know where this is going, don't you?
Yup .. the Georgia Board of Pardons and
Parole
let Arnold out of jail. They let him out of jail two years ago.
He was sent to an aftercare home, but soon proved that he was unwilling to
follow rules. Back to jail he went. Parole revoked.
Well ... get ready Georgia. Carter
Arnold Jr. has been paroled again. Next Tuesday he is going to walk free
from a Georgia prison.
How long before another person dies at
his hands?
MORE OF YOUR TAX MONEY AT WORK
Brace yourself for this one. Your tax
dollars are being called upon to pay for reparations to the people of Guam for
the Japanese's actions in WWII. That's right. You read it correctly!
Americans will pay for what Japanese did in a war that was fought over 50
years ago.
Here's the story. A bill will be
introduced this week in the House called the
Guam World War II Loyalty Recognition Act. This act calls for
reparations—costing about $135 million—for the "unspeakable
harm as a result of the occupation of Guam by Imperial Japanese military forces
during World War II, by being subjected to death, rape, severe personal injury,
personal injury, forced labor, forced march, or internment." Now mind you, these
are terrible things that happened to the people of Guam, but why do I have to
pay for it? And why now?
Well it turns
out that
Truman signed an agreement with Japan in 1951 basically stating that from
then on, Japan is not responsible for "individual American war claims." Because
Guam is a U.S. territory, the burden to compensate for Japanese abuses falls on
U.S. taxpayers. Thanks a lot, Harry Truman. You are a great American Democrat.
But in 2003,
Bush authorized the appointment of the Guam War Claims Review Commission. I
guess we can assume that this was the result.
Now here's an interesting question.
I have heard, though I have never taken the time to verify, that there was only
one major war engaged in by the U.S. where U.S. taxpayers didn't fork over huge
sums to rebuild the loser. That would be the War Between the States ..
sometimes erroneously referred to as the "Civil War"
PATHETIC .. JUST PATHETIC. NO
OTHER WORD DESCRIBES IT.
You've heard
by now that
Paris Hilton is going to jail. She has to spend 45 days in
some luxury jail cell in the Hollywood area for basically flipping off the law.
Paris thought that the very same laws that ordinary poor ugly people had to
follow just couldn't apply to her. To the surprise of absolutely nobody
Hilton has blamed her troubles on someone else. It's all her publicist's
fault. So he's been fired.
Now for the pathetic part ... as if
Paris Hilton isn't pathetic enough.
Joshua Capone, a Paris Hilton fan, has
written a letter to California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger asking him to step
in and keep Paris Hilton out of jail. Get ready to lose your last meal,
because I want to share with you a line from Joshua's letter:
"She provides hope for young people all
over the U.S. and the world. She provides beauty and excitement to our
otherwise mundane lives."
And you think
our culture of celebrity worship isn't a problem.
MOTORCYCLE SAFETY MONTH
In honor of May being
Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month, we'll feature a daily reminder for you to
be safe on or around motorcycles. Today we have to wonder,
does a
mascot head count as a helmet? Inquiring minds want to know.
Here is yesterday's in case
you missed it.

Art or Eyesore?
This lovely "art" installation cropped up on the lawn of the local art college recently. It's right on one of the main drags through Atlanta. And this photo doesn't even do it "justice." It's spread all over the place. So what do you think?

Here's the story from the
Washington Post ... the one about how
unfair it is to
compare Hillary, the American-European socialist, to Sogolene, the
European-European Socialist. Defensive posture anyone?
How long was
it going to take before this happened!
Kansas governor blames a lack of supplies, to clean up after deadly
tornadoes, on none other than Iraq.
Bruce Bartlett tries to explain his
column from last week. He says that 2008 is going to be a Democrat year,
and that
a Republican can not win the presidency in 2008. So, he says, it makes
sense to support the most conservative Democrat out there.
Could Mitt Romney be the Republican nominee?
The Kansas City airport has added
foot-washing basins for Muslim cabbies. How far is this nonsense going
to go? Last year we learned that the TSA was providing
Muslim
sensitivity training to 45,000 airport workers.
Remember that line from the Move "The
Fight Club" that so fascinates me? Something to the effect that we have a
generation of men raised by women. Here's a story on that issue that might
interest you.
The
Incredible Shrinking Father. This might explain many things happening
in our society these days. Ok .. so the story is more about turkey
basters ... but interesting nonetheless.
The Recap:
President Bush's dinner with Queen Elizabeth II. It was awkward, but the
British love that kind of humor.
The postal
service of Canada supports my wussification theory. One worker
refuses to deliver mail to a house because of a "threatening cat."
This Laurie David woman really has the
publicity machine turned up. She verbally assaults Karl Rove at the White
House correspondent's dinner (or one of those DC events), she produces that Al
Gore Chicken Little Movie, and now we learn that she
cried for
three straight days when John Kerry lost the presidency. Poor baby.
The global warming cultists are in the
news again ... and that's not news. This time the story is about
"binge flying." It's killing the planet, you know.
Here's an
interesting study about a migration that is taking place inside America.
There are so many interesting aspects to this story. In the huge costal
cities Americans are moving out and, according to the author, "immigrants" are
moving in. He won't say it, but by "immigrants" he means illegal aliens.
Hispanics. The cities worst affected are cities that vote Democrat.
