FAIRTAX RALLY -- COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA -- TWO WEEKS FROM TONIGHT.

We want 10,000 people in the Carolina Coliseum. The Republican presidential candidates debate will be telecast from a location right across the parking lot from the coliseum that evening at 7:00. It's just this simple: If these candidates, their handlers and the media see that 10,000 people came from all over the Southeast just to rally for this FairTax idea ... then they are going to know that even more people would go to the polls to support the FairTax on election day. Please, make a sacrifice. We'll make it worth your while. The FairTax can change the direction of this country, and we, working together, can get this done. Click on the banner!

BIG DEMONSTRATIONS FOR CRIMINALS ON TAP TODAY

It's May Day. This used to be the big day for Communists to celebrate their grand successes in bringing the world under Communist rule. Communists seem to be somewhat quite right now. They don't have a lot of successes to brag about. So it looks like the great May Day demonstration platform is wide open for some other group to occupy!

So ... how about the mob rule crowd! How about turning the May Day chanting over to those who don't think all that much about our rule of law, and who want to legitimize the Mexican invasion of the United States.

So .. prepare yourselves for demonstrations around the country for "immigration reform." Now what they mean by "immigration reform" is allowing those people who have broken the law by coming into this country illegally, staying here illegally and working here illegally to get special treatment from our government; treatment that is not afforded people who use the legal processes to enter America. In other words, the demonstrations you see today will call for rewarding criminals for their criminal behavior. Simple as that.

The supporters of criminal aliens are trying to tell us that there is no way the 12 to 20 criminal aliens in this country could possibly be sent back home ... that we're just going to have to find a way to accommodate them.

Wrong.

It can be done. Control over our borders can be established. We just have to be willing to take some rather strong steps to get it done.

Now this idea isn't original with me ... I've just adopted it because it works. Here's your plan for sending those who are here illegally back home while making sure that American businesses and agriculture will get all the workers they need to stay in business.

What do you think of Neal's six step plan to combat illegal immigration?
That's the ticket!
I don't think it'll work.
Step One: You enact harsh -- draconian -- penalties for any employer, no matter how large or small, who knowingly or carelessly hires someone who is in this country illegally. These employers are going to have to use the services of private sector firms that verify citizenship or legal residency. If the demand for such certifications is created, that demand will be met by private businesses. The law would require the federal government to cooperate in all respect with any companies in the business of certifying legal residency. There would also be harsh penalties for any landlord who knowingly or carelessly rented living quarters to anyone not in this country legally.

Step Two: All federal funds would be withheld from any cities or other local governments who refuse to cooperate with federal immigration authorities in the enforcement of our immigration laws. This would put an end to this "Sanctuary City" nonsense.

Step Three: A law would be passed that would allow U.S. Businesses to hire temporary workers who are not legal residents of the United States. All of this hiring would be done through federally licensed but privately operated employment agencies. The companies using the temporary labor would make all payments to the employment agencies, and the employment agencies would in turn pay the temporary workers. The penalties for any payments made by employers to temporary workers outside of this system would be harsh. Very harsh. Say, for instance, denial of any rights to hire temporary workers through this program again.

Step Four: U.S. law would require that any foreign person seeking work in the United States through the temporary worker program would have to have a temporary worker card issued by the United States. Without this card the employment agencies would not be permitted to bring these people into the U.S. for temporary work assignments.

Step Five: The temporary worker cards would only be issued in that worker's home country. Nowhere else. In other words, if you are already in the United States you would have to return to your home country to be issued a card. If you chose to remain in the United States you would be unable to find any work because you would be ineligible to be hired through the federally licensed employment agencies, and no employer would dare take a chance on the fines that would result from paying you outside of the federal temporary worker program.

Step Six: When a U.S. company need some workers, construction, agricultural ... whatever, that company would go to one of the federally licensed employment agencies and put in an order. That agency would then arrange to have the needed workers brought into the country and would arrange for their temporary housing. The employer would be billed for these costs. When the temporary work assignment was over the agency would provide transportation either back to the temporary workers home country or to the next temporary job. All payments to the temporary workers would cease until another assignment was found.

We have all of these illegal criminal aliens in this country because there is a demand for them. This program would eliminate the demand. Workers would be available through the temporary worker program. Going outside of the program would be unthinkable, considering the harsh penalties involved. Illegals already here would simply have to go back to their home countries to get that temporary worker card. We could even give them preferential treatment in issuing those cards ... just so long as they return to their own country to get them. The demand for illegals would dry up ... and those who truly need and want to work would, in spite of the inconvenience, abide by the law to accomplish their goals.

In many ways this idea gives the Republicans what they want, labor for American business. The problem in getting a program like this implemented is that it would most certainly NOT give the Democrats what they want ... more votes. Democrats see every one of these illegal aliens as a potential vote. Why, after all, do you think there are voter registration drives being promoted today? Just who are they trying to register? And which party is it that screams bloody murder whenever suggested that people voting or registering to vote show some ID or prove that they are eligible? 'Taint the Republicans. Connect the dots.

DRILLING OFF SHORE

It's looking like we're going to get a new push from the Bush Administration to increase our domestic production of oil. How? By expanding oil exploration within our own borders and in our offshore waters. Proposals are being floated (let's drive these into the parking lot and see if they dent any fenders) to allow drilling for gas and oil off the Alaskan, Virginian and Florida coasts. There are projections that successful exploitation of these oil-rich areas could allow us to not purchase one drop of oil from the Middle East for 10 years.

Oops! Wait just a minute here! Did I say FLORIDA? Why yes, I believe I did. I also said Virginia. But the politicians in Virginia are showing common sense on this issue. Can we expect the same from Florida? Probably not.

If you listen to Florida's Washington delegation you will soon see that Florida is simply not ready to step up and become a part of the solution. No doubt Florida's U.S. Senators Bill Nelson and Mel Martinez will rant at high volume against the proposals.

Florida politicians will squawk about tourists seeing drilling rigs off the coast. Let's do some calculations to see if that is possible. There are any number of sites on the Internet where you can calculate the distance to the horizon. This information is valuable for boaters who might want to calculate the distance to some object at sea and to talk show hosts who have a point to make.

OK .. here's the science. The distance to the horizon in statute miles is the square root of "X." OK, that doesn't help much ... unless you know what "X" is. Well, "X" is the the height of your eyes above the sea, as measured in inches, divided by 0.5736. Got it? Well .. if that's a challenge, you can just click here for your distance to the horizon calculator. My eyes are about six feet from the soles of my feet. Enter that 6 feet and if I'm standing at the water's edge the horizon would be 3.3 miles away. That means that even with binoculars I couldn't see someone floating in the water 3.4 miles off shore.

OK .. so an oil rig is somewhat taller than someone floating in the water. Plus, if I'm a tourist in Florida I might be on the 20th floor balcony of my fancy hotel room in Sarasota. Now I couldn't find a horizon calculator that would allow me to input numbers for the height of an oil rig as well as my 20th floor balcony. No problem. Simple geometry dictates that you only have to combine the two and input that number for the person on the beach. So, let's go with 250 feet for my hotel balcony and another 250 feet for the height of the drilling rig. For those of you who attended government schools, that would be 500 feet. Just how far would that drilling rig have to be off shore for me not to see it. Answer ... 30 miles. Are there any proposals to put any drilling rigs within 30 miles of the Florida coastline? Nope. None. No serious ones anyway. The closest I have seen for any proposal is about 45 miles. So ... let's build a big hotel and see just what floor I would have to be on to catch a glimpse of that rig 45 miles out in the Gulf. Let's allow 12 feet per story. Fair enough? Let's round up some illegal aliens and a foreman who hables espanol and start pouring concrete. When do we send the illegals home? When we've poured about 92 floors. Does anyone know of a hotel that tall on the Florida Gulf Coast?

Golly! It looks like this concern about Florida tourists seeing all of those ugly drilling rigs and heading back to Connecticut are a little bit overstated, wouldn't you say?

And what about oil spills? Well, fact is that most of the rigs off the Florida Gulf Coast would be recovering natural gas, not oil A natural gas spill is not going to wash up on the beach. As for oil spills, modern drilling and recovery techniques make such spills highly unlikely. There is a greater danger of oil from the wreck of an oil tanker on the way to New Orleans or Houston than there is from a rig dozens of miles off the coast.

So what's the problem here? Ignorance, that's what. Many Floridians have come to accept as the truth the arguments about tourists seeing rigs while they're relaxing on the beach or the danger of spills, and it's easier for people like Florida's two Senators, Bill Nelson and Mel Martinez, to cater to the ignorance of the voters than it is to actually show some leadership in this matter.

HILLARY GOES CLINTON

She did it before, and by golly she's doing it again? And what would "it" be? Getting rid of that pesky "Rodham" name, that's what! When her "husband" was running for his last term as Governor of Arkansas Hillary quietly became just plain old Hillary Clinton. As soon as the voters of Arkansas gave Bill the nod it was back to Hillary Rodham Clinton. Well ... she's done it again. All of Hillary's press releases now refer to her as Hillary Clinton. Not a Rodham to be found ..... except a brief reference to her father in her official biography.

What the hell ... it worked before. Perhaps it will work again. My guess? As soon as she elected she swaps the "Clinton" for a "Rodham" and becomes President Hillary Rodham. She will issue some excuse about her wanting to build her own legacy separate from her husband's. Well, nobody can blame her for that, can they?

WASHINGTON PROSTITUTION SCANDAL

OK ... so they've arrested someone whom they claim to be a DC Madam ... a woman who was supposed to be providing prostitutes to Washington's power elite for quite a number of years now. Well ... I've been listening to the media voices and I haven't heard anyone else say it, so I guess it's up to me. Look .. these people either work for the government or they're elected officials. They're going to be screwing someone. Your choice. You or a prostitute?

GEORGE TENET

A lot of talk about former CIA Director George Tenet's book. But talk about what? If you've been listening .. most of the talk has been about Tenet's harsh words for George Bush and that famous "slam dunk" comment. Tenet seems to feel that Bush somehow threw him under the bus. Just what part of Tenet's book seems to be escaping the attention of the media? Why ... would it be that part where he speaks of Al Qaeda's plan to use a nuclear weapon against the people of the United States? Well ... perhaps the Defeatocrats can face that problem once they've managed to get their man/gal into the White House. Certainly not before.

Oh ... and we certainly had better not do anything about Iran. So what if they might one day become the source of Al Qaeda's nuclear weapon. Time to deal with all of that later. Right now we have to get rid of those pesky Republicans ... the ones who are actually fighting Al Qaeda NOW.

AND NOW WE CLOSE WITH SOME RANDOM THOUGHTS

We learned yesterday that tooth decay is on the rise for young children. The culprit? Too much sugar in their diets. There's also the problem with bottled water .. no fluoride. So, is anyone surprised? Look around at all the little fat kids you see today chewing on their fast food. Bottom line: Lazy parents.

It's Good Neighbor Day at DeKalb Peachtree Airport June2nd. Air show, open house .. the works. Here's you airport link! On Good neighbor day there's an emphasis on things to do for the kids ..... could be a lot of fun. Admission is free.

READING ASSIGNMENTS

Neal has a $10,000 FairTax Refund for a lucky Atlanta listener!
And now, Wed-Fri this week, Neal doubles your refund - $2,000!!!
Here's a "gotta read." You're a U.S. taxpayer. How do you like the idea that you are subsidizing, with your tax money, terrorist propaganda and Holocaust denial in the Arab world? Is this what you worked and paid taxes for?

Neal read some of these funny signs on the air...check them out plus a bunch more!

It's looking like the Defeatocrats are going to back down on their confrontation with Bush. Harry Reid is talking to Republicans about a compromise, and Princess Nancy is admitting that sooner or later the troops are going to get their funding without a timetable. Pelosi will probably take a shot at overturning the veto first. Gotta love her.

OK you people. Here's a story from the Australian Daily Telegraph which tells you that lesbians are twice as likely as heterosexual women to be overweight. Now I don't want any of my listeners running around assuming that just because a woman is fat it must necessarily mean she's a lesbian. That would be insensitive.

The circulation for our local paper, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, is down by 2.1 percent. That's nothing compared to the Dallas Morning News. They're down 14.3 percent. You do wonder, though, what would happen if we had a paper with an editorial policy that was more in line with the way people think in these parts.

The Supreme Court has now ruled that police cannot be sued for injuries which occur when a high-speed chase leads to a crash. The suit was brought by a Georgia teenager who ran from police .. and was paralyzed in the crash when he lost control of his car. The Supremes also posted video of the chase on their website. Now ... if they would only allow the police to yank these people out of their cars and pound the stew out of them when they're stopped.

Even though Bush is not what you might call the most popular president in our lifetime, our current collection of Republican presidential candidates continue to beat the Defeatocrats in head-to-head polling.

Tuesday's CyberAlert from the Media Research Center ... "Tracking liberal media bias since 1996." There's a bit here about speculation that NBC will hire Rosie for the Today Show.

There are now a bunch of resources online for following the money in politics. Are your representatives working for you or a fat campaign contribution?
