Official airline of the Boortz Book Tour

Hitting the road again tomorrow afternoon ... and this week we'll hit Norfolk/Virginia Beach, Charlottesville, Va., Pittsburgh and Hyannis/Cape Cod.  I have never done a book signing in any of these cities before, though I've visited my 790 WNIS listeners in the Tidewater area many times.  This will be a first for 1070 WINA in Charlottesville.  The WINA listeners participate heavily in the show .. and I'm really looking forward to meeting them.

It will be a very special evening with one of my newer affiliates, the legendary 1020 KDKA in Pittsburgh.  Oddly, the history of KDKA and Neal Boortz intertwine!  On November 2, 1920 Leo Rosenberg went on the air in Pittsburgh to report election returns in the Harding (R) vs. Cox (D) presidential race.  Right then, right there, KDKA became the first broadcast radio station in the world.  The interesting twist here is that Harding won and James Cox went on to begin what would become Cox Enterprises .. and my flagship radio station, 750 WSB in Atlanta.  KDKA is now 87 years old.  WSB just celebrated its 85th Birthday.

The last stop this week will be in Hyannis, Mass., in old Cape Cod.  My station there is 95 WXTK Newsradio (95.1 FM).  The way the listeners on Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket have embraced my show on 95 WXTK is nothing less than spectacular ... and I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to this stop.

As for the book .... still going strong!  Hey, even though it's my book, I'm still amazed and the flood of positive comments I've been getting from readers across the country.  People who ordered the book in advance of the publication date from Amazon or Barnes & Noble are coming to the book signings to get additional copies for friends, relatives and coworkers.  What an incredible compliment, and I'm truly thankful.  Here's a sample email:

"I keep your book "Someone's Gotta Say It" in our truck and when I take my husband to our hangar in Navasota, I read it to him. I am going out and buy a few more copies to give to friends as birthday gifts.  I especially want people to read the chapter of the Democrats secret plans.  When it gets closer to the election, you need to hammer this to the American people every day!"

Something else that makes me feel especially good is when I get an email from someone who actually changes their opinion -- either of me or on some particular issue -- after reading the book.  A particularly tough time for me on my show was when the Terri Schivo controversy was boiling over in Florida.  I was honest with my listeners then ... and made quite a few enemies when I spoke my mind.  Here's an email I received yesterday:

"I'm writing to apologize for any rude or nasty E-mails I may have sent you during the Terri Schivo events.  I am not sure if I sent you an e-mail one way or the other, but if I did I am very sorry, it turns out that you were right in this situation and I was wrong.  (Although I wish there had been a more humane way of letting her die than starvation...) I'm nearly finished with the book and only regret that it isn't 10 times longer.  Thanks for all you do keep making the liberals crazy."

This person was referring to a chapter in "Somebody's Gotta Say It" entitled "Because She Earned It."  Again ... thanks for the nice note --- and thank you, my friends, for showing up at my book signings and for continuing to keep Somebody's Gotta Say it up there in the rarified atmosphere of the Top Ten on the New York Times Bestseller's List.

WAKE UP, DAMMIT!

CNN had a series of stories this past weekend dealing with the health care soldiers returning from the war against Islamic fascism (CNN calls it the "war on terror") are receiving at our veterans hospitals and other government medical facilities.  In short ... it's not good.

One particular story dealt with a young soldier suffering from PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.)  His efforts to receive treatment were being met with roadblocks virtually everywhere he went.  On one occasion he told a case worker that he was feeling suicidal.  The case worker told him that they would have a bed for him in 26 days.  He was dead within a week.  Hanged himself.

So .. here I am again delivering the same message again.  This is the future of your medical care!  If not for you, then almost certainly for your children and grandchildren!

This is the reality of socialized medicine.  Yes, there is socialized medicine in the United States right now ... and there has been for generations.  It is to be found in our system of military hospitals, clinics and dispensaries.  I grew up with this medical care system.  When I was sick my mother would take me to the base dispensary.  Never heard that word?  Well, the dictionary describes it as "a charitable or public facility where medicines are furnished and free or inexpensive medical service is available."  Medical care was free for military families, thus the name.  This has been quite some time ago, but I can still remember the excessive waits for even serious problems ... such as a large wooden splinter being driven up  underneath a fingernail.  Who would forget that one?.

The clamor of the people for someone --- anyone --- other than themselves to take care of their medical needs is leading us inexorably to a system of socialized medicine for us all.  No, they won't call it socialized medicine.  "Universal health care" seems to be the term of choice right now.  But socialized medicine it shall be ... and the stories coming out of our veteran's facilities will be yours to tell in the future.

You asked for it.  You're going to get it.  And you're not going to like it one little bit.

NOT HARD TO FIGURE OUT

There was a headline on the online version of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution this morning:  Brawl erupts at Madison Square Garden.  Before I clicked on the link I thought to myself "basketball game."  That was the first thought that came to my mind because basketball seems to have become a thug sport.  Be bad.  Be mean.  Scowl as much as you can.  Get those tats --- all the way up to your ears.  Don't take no sh&3 from nobody.  Well ... I was right.  Basketball.  High school championship game --- rivals from Brooklyn.

THE ABSURD CONTROVERSY OVER THOSE U.S. ATTORNEYS

The Democrats and the leftist media are making quite the deal over the fact that the Bush Administration fired eight U.S. Attorneys.  Nobody is saying that Bush didn't have the right to fire those attorneys.  They're just upset that he actually did it.

This is part of the Democrat plan to make sure that there is always something they will call a "scandal" going on each and every single day until the 2008 elections.  As soon as this U.S. Attorney thing goes away they will pick another one .. then another .. and then another.  The media, ever hopeful of a massive Democrat win in November 2008, will be all too eager to go along.

You do know why Bush fired 7 of those attorneys, don't you?  The story is that they refused or failed to pursue investigations of Democrat voter fraud.  Now maybe you have a better idea of why the Democrats are so upset that they were fired.

Now why would the leftist mainstream press fail to hammer home the point that there was actually a reason behind the firings?  Well ... let's cogitate on this one for a bit.  If the media continues to tell you that these U.S. attorneys were fired because they wouldn't pursue investigations of Democrat voter fraud, then Democrat voter fraud would become part of the story, right?  Do you really think that the predominately Democrat media wants Democrat voter fraud to become part of this story?  Come on!  Especially when they have the Bush administration and the attorney general on the run!

But then again .. there's talk radio.

That's why talk radio must be destroyed.

MARINE GUNNED DOWN ON '60 MINUTES'

Haditha Marine Sergeant Frank Wuterich's trial may be months away, but last night '60 Minutes' reporter Scott Pelley decided to court martial him on national television.  It was one of the most outrageous displays of media bias ever.  In case your memory needs refreshing, the Haditha incident was a situation in Iraq where a group of Marines, led by Wuterich, cleared a house that they thought was being used by insurgents.  It turns out it was occupied by several women and children and all were killed.  They've been charged with murder and their trial is expected later this year.

Wuterich says he's innocent.  That the way he cleared that house was consistent with his training and that if Marines start asking before they shoot, they die.  That's war...that's how it works.  People die...and sometimes those people are innocent.  It's called collateral damage.  So anyway, all of this wasn't enough for the smarmy, condescending Scott Pelley on '60 Minutes' last night.  He interviewed Wuterich and naturally, immediately took the side of the enemy.

Pelley called it a massacre...wrong.  A massacre would be walking into a house, ordering everybody out, and shooting them in the head.  This was a house-clearing operation, something that's done to root out insurgents in Iraq everyday.  But Pelley continued his interrogation of the 25-year-old Wuterich...questioning his actions and mocking him because he hadn't seen combat prior to Haditha.

Ironically, with Pelley's interview..he may have created quite a bit of sympathy for Frank Wuterich.  Just what we expect from the mainstream media...always blame America first.

POLL SAYS LIFE BETTER IN IRAQ

Buried beneath the headlines and the reporting that things are terrible in Iraq and the war is going poorly...is the news that things are actually getting better in Iraq.  Yes, killings are down because the surge is working...but the proof is in the pudding, as they say.  Just ask the Iraqis.

A new poll of Iraqis finds that they think life is better for them now than it was under Saddam Hussein.  This is huge news...and it's good news about the war that you'll find nowhere in the mainstream media.  Can't have positive news about the war circulating out there....it's just not allowed.  After all George W. Bush might benefit.  So just how well do Iraqis think things are going?

Despite the fact that 1 in 4 Iraqis has had a family member murdered, the poll of 5,000 found that a majority of people think things are better today than under Saddam Hussein.  And here's an even more telling statistic:  61% of Iraqis do not think there is a civil war going on.  This contradicts the 99% of Democrats that believe there is a civil war (the 1% being Joe Lieberman and Ed Koch.)

One wonders just how well things in Iraq will have to start going before people finally recognize things are getting better...and were never as bad as reported.

CONSPIRACY IN THE CHOCOLATE CITY

New Orleans Mayor Ray "Chocolate City" Nagin says that what happened in his city could happen anywhere.  That's right, according to Nagin's line of brilliant thinking...a hurricane could hit say...Peoria, Illinois and the levies could burst.  Oh and he suspects a conspiracy that is keeping blacks away from New Orleans.  The frightening thing is this man was elected mayor....twice.

You can tell Nagin's officially gone off the deep end from some of his recent statements:  "They dispersed all of our people across 44 states with one-way tickets.  They thought they were talking about a different kind of New Orleans.  They didn't realize that folks were awake, that they were paying attention."  So who is they?  Beats me.

So let's recap Nagin's theories:  it is a national conspiracy by The Man to keep black folks out of New Orleans and to keep the rebuilding from happening.  In addition, the Bush Administration blew a hole in the levies on purpose.  Oh and not enough money is being spent on New Orleans, despite the fact that Nagin has admitted the city inflated its budget request for rebuilding.

Nagin may want to cover his head in tin foil to keep out the radio waves from the aliens.  They might be listening.

REDNECK SCRAP BOOK

Here's another important gadget for the high-tech redneck. More in the Redneck Scrap Book.

READING ASSIGNMENTS

Oh man ... you gotta watch this.  First the story, then the video.  My guess is that the servers will be slammed .. so keep trying

The United States is cozying up to The Gargoyle in North Korea.  Now we're releasing $25 million previously frozen funds "for the betterment of the North Korean people."  Uh-huh....something tells it will be used for Kim Jong-Il's new high heels.

Al Gore has lost some weight, so some people are reading into that observation that the former VP may be running for president.  Gore probably couldn't stand the pay cut, not with $1,200 light bills in Nashville to pay.  But he does have an Oscar.  Oh, and Gore is catching some flack for profiting from toxic mining.  That's not very environmentally friendly, Al.

Democrats continue to drill the Bush Administration on their made-up political scandal over 8 fired U.S. Attorneys.  Alberto Gonzales...Karl Rove...Harriet Miers....all are expected to testify on Capitol Hill over what they knew and when they knew it.  The controversy about nothing rolls on.

There is a new poll out surveying the Republican field for president in 2008.  Leading the pack is former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who now has a double-digit lead over John McCain.  In addition, Newt Gingrich has pulled ahead of Mitt Romney.

Speaking of John McCain, he stepped in it Friday at a town hall meeting.  He used the term "tar baby."  Supposedly, this is considered some sort of racial epithet.  McCain later apologized, saying he shouldn't have used the phrase.  Perhaps no one noticed.

One bit of news that the mainstream media is covering up is the fact that the troop surge in Iraq is working.  Things are beginning to turn around and the Iraqis are shaping up as more of our troops arrive.  You will never find this out by watching the news in this country.

So with everybody yawning over the lackluster choices on the Republican side for president next year, Peter Brown points out a dark horse who may enter the race.  There is an effort to get former Tennessee Senator and Hollywood actor Fred Thompson to run.

Robert Novak exposes an effort by the White House to not make public a database of earmarks as promised.  They are worried about offending members of Congress whose support they need.  They just don't want the public to see where all of their money is going.

A federal appeals court has struck down a ban on guns in the District of Columbia and George Will says the court may have just made it a campaign issue.  It's been quite some time since gun control dominated the political landscape.

Professor Mike Adams would like to publicly apologize to the European Human Rights Panel for something he wrote in an earlier column.  Evidently he seemed to offend the Euro-weasels.  The good professor couldn't have possibly meant to.
