TODAY ON THE SHOW
During the campaign and since the Democrats have taken control of the Congress we've been hearing a lot about income inequality. The storyline is that the share of total income earned by the evil, rancid, putrid top 1% has been increasing at an obscene rate while middle income Americans are stuck in some state of stagnation. It seems that the leftist mainstream media doesn't want to give you the full story here. Perhaps that's because when you know the whole truth, there doesn't seem to be a problem at all! We'll cover this on the show today.
- The Wall Street Journal reports that states are in a race with one another to attract new businesses and jobs. And just what are these states looking to? They're looking to get rid of state income taxes. Well imagine that! Getting rid of the income tax could create more job, attract new businesses and improve the economy. Who would have thunk it?
- Would you like to know the latest statistics for waiting times in the wonderful, almost-perfect Canadian health care system? We'll have those figures for you today. You can think about them as you dream of universal health care in the United States. Remember ... phrases like "universal health care" and "single payer" are merely euphemisms for SOCIALIZED MEDICINE.
- And this from the Georgia Public Policy Foundation: Two U.S. Ambassadors were negotiating an agreement in London with a Muslim official. The Muslim official told the U.S. representatives that it was the right and the duty of all Muslims to make war on any nation that did not acknowledge the authority of the Quran. Do you want to know who these two ambassadors were? You'll learn that on today's show also.
FOUR WEEKS FROM TODAY! How about a little excerpt from Somebody's Gotta Say It? My next book hits the book stores four weeks from today, which means that in about 30 days there will be liberals saying that I'm quite possibly one of the most evil people in the world ... especially because I take great care to pick on the poor, poor, pitiful poor:
"Give me a break. There are very few people in this country who fit any sort of a realistic definition of being poor. The average so-called "poor" person in this country has a higher standard of living than the average European. Now, do you consider the average European to be poor? Those defined as living in poverty in this country usually own at least one color television, a microwave oven, an automobile, and a cell phone. Not too long ago, every one of these items was considered a luxury. Today you'd be hard pressed to find a poor person without them."
Monday morning Somebody's Gotta Say It was number 1,237 on Barnesandnoble.com. This morning it's number 22. Thank you very much, my friends, for ordering your copy in advance. The odds are against me, but it sure would be nice to repeat that "Debut as No. 1 on the New York Times Bestseller's List" thing. Here's your link to order your copy .... and again, Thanks. |
AL FRANKEN OFF THE AIR
Al Franken is leaving Air America....the network has been sold out of bankruptcy to a real estate company.
Stop the gloating. This is most definitely NOT good news. We want Air America to thrive and become a healthy enterprise. If it doesn't, Democrats in Congress and a potential Democratic president in 2008 will point to the lack of any "progressive thought" (whatever that is) on the radio as an excuse to bring back the Fairness Doctrine. And that would be a complete and total disaster for the entire talk radio business. So with that in mind, here are some tips for the new owner of Air America.
Run it like a business, not a political cause. As a radio network, you are in business to make money, not change the world. Any radio station that wants to carry any of your program should be welcomed with open arms. Initially when it started Air America refused to let any of its programs air on stations that carried Rush Limbaugh. Change that in a hurry. Just a tip.
So who knows what's in the cards for Al Franken? Word is he might run for the United States Senate. Franken in the Senate? Now that would be interesting.
2003 HILLARY VS. 2007 HILLARY
One of the pitfalls of being the smartest woman in the world means that people hang on your every word. They also make note of the things you say. In the case of Hillary Clinton, this is not good. You know that she was all in favor of deposing Saddam Hussein in 2003 prior to the invasion, but now she is squarely against the war. What you may not know is just how different her statements on the subject are some 4 years later.
For example, from 2003: "I ended up voting for the resolution after carefully reviewing the information, intelligence that I had available, talking with people whose opinions I trusted, tried to discount the political or other factors that I didn't believe should be in any way a part of this decision." Oh really? You carefully reviewed the information? Carefully reviewed the intelligence? So you didn't make your decision lightly, Senator Clinton? Well, sometime in the last four years she must've fallen and bumped her head.
Now in 2007, things sure have changed mightily: "So he took the authority that I and others gave him and he misused it, and I regret that deeply. And if we had known then what we know now, there never would have been a vote and I never would have voted to give this president that authority." But wait, Ms. Rodham! We thought you carefully reviewed the information? That means you didn't just take Bush's word for everything. So ... wasn't your fact-finding exercise every bit as faulty as was the president's?
Here's a prediction: in the next 21 months, everything Hillary Clinton has ever said is going to be exposed. More contradictions to come.
THE TRIAL OF THE CENTURY
The media is religiously following this Scooter Libby trial as if Scooter Libby were somehow the most important government official in history. So why all the coverage? After all, did we see so many headlines when Sandy Berger, a former National Security Adviser, was in trouble for stealing documents? Of course not. But Scooter Libby is a Republican, so as the saying goes...it all rolls downhill.
One thing that the casual observer might miss on this trial is that it has nothing to do with Bush Administration policy and it has nothing to do with the Valerie Plame (non) affair. All the case is about is Scooter Libby supposedly lying to investigators and obstructing justice. He was supposedly lying to protect information that wouldn't have gotten him in trouble. In other words .. nobody seems to be able to establish a motive for Libby to lie, yet here is is on trial.
To that end, there have been a few developments. Tim Russert and Ari Fleischer have testified...and both sold Libby up the river. There seems to have been a falling out between Scooter Libby and the administration. So much for a presidential pardon in 2009. But don't worry..the media will be there to cover it all.
Because as we all know, Scooter Libby is the most important government official to ever set foot in a courtroom. At least if you listen to the media. Before we head to the reading assignments ... a question. Why isn't Sandy Berger on trial? Oh .. that's right. A quick plea and a settlement in his case. But what about Hillary Rodham? She lied under oath when she was the First Lady. She lied to impede an investigation into a scam that cost American taxpayers millions of dollars. There was an actual crime committed there, not a fairy tale about revealing the name of some "covert" CIA agent. She lied under oath ... obstructed justice ... and is now the frontrunner for the next presidential election. Oh .. almost forgot. She's a Democrat. Never mind.

German engineering versus Arab technology. [video] Catch Neal on TV! He'll be on with Neil Cavuto's show Cavuto On Business Saturday, February 3rd at 10:30am.
Politics seems to be the only business where people who rise to the top aren't necessarily the most talented or hardest-working. Herman Cain also points out that it is the Left that seems to be obsessed with Barack Obama's race.
Questions continue to surround Harry Reid's questionable land deal...so where are the calls for his resignation? His censure? How about stepping down from his leadership position? If this were Trent Lott, it would be page one news. But a Democrat? Nah..the media will let this one slide.
The war is not the only thing Hillary Clinton has flip-flopped on....now she's campaigning in Iowa for ethanol production. But it wasn't all that long ago that she was speaking out in opposition to the corn-based fuel. I guess it just depends on the audience.
Congressman Duncan Hunter, who is running for president, is calling out John Kerry for his anti-American remarks while in Switzerland. He also makes an interesting point...not that many countries that were attending that conference helped the United States after Katrina.
So this Civilian Reserve Corps...this idea that President Bush mentioned in his State of the Union speech...how would that take shape? The Washington Times looks at the idea and tries to see if it's just another applause line or an actual good idea.
Thomas Sowell says it's not just a tragedy that a group of kids' lives were destroyed by an overzealous District Attorney in North Carolina, but he says there is a larger issue at play here. Sowell says there are issues of race involved.
Finally..somebody is coming right out and saying it: just what in the world makes Chuck Hagel so courageous and brave for opposing the war in Iraq? Slate's Mickey Kaus...a liberal, no less....exposes the fraud of the Mainstream Media's infatuation with Chuck Hagel.
Jane Fonda is back in the protesting business as is the rest of the celebrity crowd. Democrat Ed Koch wants to know where these Leftist Hollywood types get off calling President Bush an evildoer. After all, aren't the Islamic terrorists the evildoers?
Hillary Clinton is riding both sides of the political fence these days, and David Limbaugh says there are good reasons why. In fact, Limbaugh points out that Shrillary has been doing this for a very, very long time.
Democrats have their sights set on the White House in 2008...and Star Parker says the Dems' plan to get there is based on class envy. She goes over a recent column from Chuck Schumer in which he runs down his class warfare agenda. |
