ONE WEEK TO GO
The sad thing here is that there are so many people in this
country, perhaps even a majority, that are so bored by politics that they've
completely tuned this midterm election out. They don't care. They
may vote, and then again they may not.
I ranted a bit on the air yesterday about people talking
sports. Who has the best offensive line, who has the best wide receivers,
blah blah blah blah. From a look at some of the email that Web Guy
forwarded to me I made plenty of people mad. It seems that when you attack
their devotion to their favorite college football team, you are attacking the
very basis for their existence.
Look .. sports are great. I'm a big-time Atlanta
Braves fan, Falcons, Georgia Football .. the works. The one spectator
sport I love to attend in person more than any other is hockey. Sadly, hockey
just doesn't translate to the TV screen all that well.
The problem here is that I'm about 90% certain that if I
waded into the crowd at a sports bar on any given Saturday afternoon I would be
hard-pressed to find someone that could name the two U.S. Senators from their
own State, let alone the name of their congressman and the person running
against him in next week's election.
Your favorite college team may win or lose next weekend,
but the cold, harsh reality is that whatever the outcome of the game, it really
isn't going to have any material affect on your life. Your favorite
college or professional football team, or your favorite NASCAR driver cannot put
you into debt against your will. They cannot seize your money or property.
They can't affect your freedoms.
Are you really aware of some of the things the Democrats
want to do if they ever get control of the House, the Senate and the Presidency?
Well ... how about an additional payroll tax?
OK ... try this idea. I believe this one is from
Charlie Rangel. The proposal is to
expand Medicare to include every
American. Not just the old ...everyone. This, of course, would be
very, very expensive. It would mean new taxes. So how about a new
payroll tax? How much? Well, let's say about 8.5%. That ought
to do it ... for now. But the Democrats know that most Americans buy into
this idiotic nonsense about your employers "matching" your Social Security
"contributions" ... so the idea is to put a 1.5% tax on your actual paycheck
stub, and another 7% tax on your employer's total payroll. Thanks to
generations of government education the politicians know that most voters won't
realize that any tax on any portion of an employer's payroll comes out of the
money set aside to pay employees. The result of this socialized medicine
scheme? Less pay for you.
And speaking of government education.
Democrat
Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. is proposing a constitutional amendment that would
take the United Nations declaration on children's rights and make it a part of
our constitution. If this were to happen, and considering the voters in
this country, I feel that it could, you would then be violating your child's
rights if you took them out of a government school to either home school them or
enroll them in a private school.
And just one more thing to raise a few more hairs on the
back of your neck. Labor unions. You do know that Democrats just
love unions, and unions love Democrats. About 95% of all union political
donations in this country go to Democrats ... and you're about to find out one
of the reasons why.
Unions are upset because union membership is declining.
They need a way to increase union membership, and one way to do that of course
is to increase the number of union workplaces. There's a small problem
here though. Workers don't seem to be as inclined to vote to become
unionized as they have been in the past. Why? Not sure. Maybe
the workers are rebelling against the Democrat-led war on the individual.
Whatever the reason, the unions have a cure, and the Democrats are ready to
implement it.
The idea is simple! Just get rid of union elections!
Instead of allowing workers to vote by secret ballot on whether or not they want
to unionize, just pass around a petition! Once a majority of workers sign
a petition saying that they want to be unionized, the workplace automatically
becomes a union workplace! OK .. I hear you. What's the difference
between a vote on whether or not to unionize vs. a petition? Secrecy,
that's what. In a secret ballot, nobody knows how you voted. You
might not want to stir the puddin' with your fellow workers by refusing to sign
a petition .. .but when the election comes around, and you're casting your
ballot in private ... you have a chance to make your feelings known without
alienating your fellow workers who want the union! As soon as the
Democrats gain the necessary power you'll see this plan implemented. The
legislation is already in place.
Am I furious at Republicans? You bet. There is
absolutely no excuse for the way they've increased spending on discretionary
programs and grown the size of the Imperial Federal Government. There is
no excuse for their failure to curb the Mexican invasion. There is no
excuse for their failure to send people like Randy Cunningham and Mark Foley
packing years ago. Simply put, they do not deserve to hold control of the
Congress. They've betrayed their voter base and have not earned
reelection. The best thing they have going for them is the radical,
big-government, socialist, wealth-redistributionist, anti-individualist agenda
of the Social Democrat party.
You folks really should check out libertarianism.
Not necessarily the Libertarian Party, but the philosophy. When the
Libertarian Party decides that our borders and our nation are worth protecting
from the Mexican invasion and Islamic Fascism, we'll give them more
consideration.
JOHN
KERRY'S OPINION ON MILITARY SERVICE
The Poodle recently
told a
group of college students the following: "You know, education...if you make the
most of it...you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be
smart, you can do well...if you don't, you get stuck in Iraq."
Well isn't that just so
very special! Now we know what The Poodle things about all of your sons,
daughters, fathers, brothers and sisters who are "stuck in Iraq."! They
just couldn't cut it in school. They weren't smart enough. Now they
have found themselves stuck in the military and in Iraq.
If this is the way John
Kerry feels about the military, why doesn't he just throw away all those medals
he has? Oh, wait. I forgot. Been there, done that.
The Poodle has about
summed up his opinion on military service in that statement. In the coming
days, he will do everything he can to backpedal. He'll tell us that's not what
he meant...that he was really saying this or that. But the fact is, he said
it. What about those who join the military so they can get money for college?
It is an insult for somebody like John Kerry to sit in his cushy office and talk
down to those who are risking their lives in Iraq.
The truth here is that
this isn't just John Kerry speaking. This is pretty much the way many
Democrats ...especially Hillary Clinton ... feel. Disdain for the military
and for those who serve runs deep in the Democrat mind.
Oh, and John Kerry voted
for the war that sent those troops to Iraq. But he's had amnesia about that for
several years now. And I'm sure the 150,000 troops we have in Iraq are pleased
to know that John Kerry thinks they are stuck there because they couldn't cut it
in college.
THE
CHURCH OF GLOBAL WARMING
More proof today that
anti-global warming crowd is not a scientific movement, but a religion. ABC
News reporter Bill Blakemore says
he
doesn't like the word "balance" when it comes
to global warming coverage. He compares global warming skeptics to the Flat
Earth Society....you know, the people who still think the world is flat. Cute.
This just goes to show you
that those who are so sucked into the anti-capitalist, environmental extremist
movement refuse to hear any other point of view. To them, global warming is
absolute. They refuse to accept that there are smart people..scientists even,
that dispute the existence of global warming. They refuse to acknowledge
evidence that the Earth really hasn't warmed all that much in the last 100
years. They refuse to accept that temperature records only go back so far. The
theory of global warming fits in their Leftist, anti-business lexicon all too
neatly...and they're not letting go.
Give liberals enough time,
and they'll tell you exactly what they think. When Bill Blakemore reports the
news on global warming, he won't be giving you both sides of the story, it will
be just one side. And that's his side, his personal beliefs. He won't be
reporting the news, he'll be serving a political agenda...a pre-conceived agenda
that offers no room for any other points of view.
Which is why global
warming is not a movement...it is not a theory....it is a religion.
THOSE
EVIL VOTING MACHINES
|

Psycho, who actually has a decent computer and software, sent in this
rendition. Much better.
|
There's just one week to
go until Election Day, and already the hysteria is mounting...over voting
machines. After the 2000 debacle in Florida, governments across the country
have bought these electronic voting machines. But the media and Democrats,
always pushing the "disenfranchised" lie, are trying to portray them as hard to
use and inaccurate. After all, how can normal people be expected to use a
voting machine? What if they vote for the wrong person?
Think about that position
for a minute. Just about every person walking our streets has used an ATM
machine. We use computers at home....which are much more complicated than any
voting machine. People use self-serve grocery check-out stations. They pay at
the pump for their gas. The voting machines are not complicated. They are not
hard to use. But that's not the real issue here anyway.
I want you to consider the
possibility that the real issue that Democrats fear is that the machines just
might be accurate. For decades, Democrats have been propelled into office by
election fraud. That is, people voting twice...dead people voting...people
being paid off and told who to vote for, etc. The electronic voting machine
gets rid of a lot of that. Computers are absolute...they only do exactly what
people tell them to do...not what some Democratic precinct chief wants.
And then there's the whole
issue of the soft bigotry of low expectations. Shouldn't the people who
Democrats say are too dumb to work the machines be offended? Of course
not....not as long as those same Democrats keep the checks coming.

Department of Homeland
Security Secretary
Michael Chertoff says without a guest worker program, getting control of the
border will be very difficult.
Just so we can understand his logic, he's essentially saying that unless you let
millions of people violate the border and break in for free, you can't control
the border. Right.
The Internet is taking its toll on the newspaper business...circulations are
down all over. The #1
nationwide newspaper is still USA Today, with The Wall Street Journal being
next. Oh well..they've always got the Sunday shopping ads and people's need to
line their bird cages in their corner.
Not only will Dennis
Hastert be a goner if the Republicans lose the election next week,
but more and more, people are predicting he'll be forced to step aside even if
the GOP does win.
Turns out many are none too happy with his performance in office of late.
An interesting trend has
surfaced in this year's election cycle:
Republicans running as Democrats.
It turns out many conservatives see the writing on the wall at the unpopularity
of the GOP and are simply running on the other ticket.
North Korea has returned to the 6 party talks over their nuclear program,
just like they always were going to. The Norks can ill afford to have their
neighbor China mad at them for too long. Which once again proves George W.
Bush's policy on North Korea is working.
Christopher Hitchens wants to know what's going to happen
to those who support democracy if we just up and leave Iraq? Hitchens says
those who want to cut and run are just afraid of the jihadists...and unwilling
to stay and fight.
Thomas Sowell takes a look at the clamor over Barack Obama
and wants to know why anyone would want him to be president of the United
States. Not only is he inexperienced, but putting him in power would elevate
the agenda of the Democratic party.
Dick Morris says as Hillary Clinton gets ready to run for president, she's
updating her position on several issues.
Her latest flip-flop: gay marriage. She's now all for it...but not so long
ago, she wasn't. Not only does Morris know this because it's public record, he
was there.
David Limbaugh is calling out the Republicans who want to have it both ways.
That is, they want to support the war on terror, yet they are running as fast as
they can away from President Bush and the war in Iraq.
Pat Buchanan takes a look at what happened in the world of politics 50 years
ago. Ike was in the
process of being re-elected and the Middle East was blowing up....all while the
Cold War was going on. Interesting how some things haven't changed in half a
century.
And now, the final scary video of the day for the scariest day of the
year, well besides April 15,
this is a
clip from the 1932 horror film
Freaks. If you
haven't seen the whole film, it's, uh, something else. Very high creep factor.
Bored at work?
Update Mr. T's look.
