FAIRTAX RALLY --- ONE WEEK FROM TOMORROW!

Just one week from tomorrow, at 10:00 on Saturday morning, we'll have a rally on the steps of the Orlando City Hall in support of the FairTax!  I must confess to a growing case of nerves.

There is a lot going on in Washington right now -- a lot I am not free to disclose -- regarding the FairTax.  Believe me, the FairTax is most certainly on the radar screen of those who wield the power in Washington.  That rally we had in Atlanta two months ago ...  a rally where we had to turn away thousands ... opened some eyes.  Then we had the 85%+ favorable vote for the FairTax in three Georgia counties in this week's primaries.  Emails I received from listeners are now being circulated among the Beltway power brokers.  These were emails I received from people who said that they had no intention of even voting in the primary until they heard me say that the FairTax was on the ballot.  One listener wrote to tell me that he and his wife were returning home from the dentist.  The dentist had just yanked all of her wisdom teeth.  Let's just say that she wasn't feeling all that well, but when she heard that the FairTax was on the ballot she insisted that they stop by to vote before going home.

Trust me on this one.  Politicians LOVE an issue that will send people to the polls who otherwise might sit on their hands.  The FairTax has proven to be just such an issue.  They also pay attention when thousands of people flock to a rally for tax reform.  Atlanta woke them up.  In eight days we'll see if Orlando will open their eyes a little further.

THE FAIRTAX BABE PANCAKE BREAKFAST!

You have to meet this young lady!  Her name is Jessie, and we call her the FairTax Babe!  She is one of the most dynamic promoters of the FairTax that I have ever met.  She and her friend Jonathan are the people behind the website fairtaxgroups.com.  Jesse has set up a pancake breakfast for people attending the rally.  The breakfast will be at the First Presbyterian Church of Orlando, just two blocks from the rally.  Jeff Parnell will be performing while you chow down on pancakes, bacon, juice and coffee!  Here's your link for directions to the breakfast.  The green arrow is the breakfast, the red arrow is the rally location.

Come on, folks.  We can do this!  With listeners and FairTax supporters from across Florida and the Southeast we can get 10,000+ on the streets of downtown Orlando to call for the biggest transfer of power from government to the people in our country's history.

SORRY ... JUST ISN'T NEWS

Hezbollah's leader Hassan Nesbrallah

For the second morning in a row I've been treated to non-stop coverage on CNN about the evacuation of Americans and others from Lebanon.  OK!  We get it!  People are being evacuated!  But this isn't the story!  The story is Israel pounding Hezbollah.  The story is Israel doing the work of so many other Western nations in ridding the world of a good number of these vicious monsters.  And the story is also the Western world getting ready to tell Israel enough .. to drop back ... to hold off ... to allow Hezbollah to regroup and rearm so that Israel can be attacked again.

And what of Lebanon?  Yeah, things are certainly rough there.  They harbored Hezbollah.  They ignored the UN's demands that Hezbollah be disarmed and removed from the Israeli border.  They tolerated the Hezbollah's presence ... now they're paying the price.  It is sad, truly sad that so many civilians are suffering.  Perhaps this could have been averted if they had done something about the presence of these Islamic monsters who were occupying their country.  Did the people who are pleading for Lebanon similarly plead for Israel when the Hezbollah would fire rockets into Israel trying to kill Israeli civilians?  Somehow, I don't remember that.  Perhaps instead of complaining to the world and asking the world to get Israel to leave them alone, they should be asking the world to step in and help Israel rid them of he Hezbollah menace.

How can I say this strongly enough?  This isn't between Israel and Hezbollah.  This isn't between Israel and the so-called "Palestinians" in the Gaza.  This isn't between the U.S. and the Islamic fascists in Iraq.  This is between the entire free world and Muslim radicals.  This is a shooting, bombing war that is going on in virtually every continent on earth, save Antarctica.  This is a world war.  On the one side you have Muslims who believe that they are on a mission from god, on the other side you have people of various stripes merely trying to preserve their own way of life.

IRAQ A CIVIL WAR? HARDLY

Do you think there is currently a civil war going on in Iraq?
Yes
No
Times sure are tough for the Democrats.  As world attention is drawn to the conflict in Lebanon between Israel and Hezbollah, people aren't paying much attention to the left's signature issue: Iraq.  Well, Senate Minority Leader (he likes to say 'Democratic Leader,' so people aren't reminded he's in the minority) Harry Reid decided yesterday it was time to pump Iraq back up.

Reid decided that it's time to bring Iraq back to the Senate floor for debate.  He declared yesterday that Iraq has spiraled into a civil war.  Oh, but Harry Reid wants you to know he has been using restraint.  According to him, he has been  "somewhat gingerly approaching this.  No longer. There is a civil war going on in Iraq. In the last two months, more than 6,000 Iraqis have been killed. That's averaging more than 100 a day being killed in Iraq and we need to make sure there is a debate on this."  Poor baby.

Bill Frist's chief of staff called Reid's ploy a 'summer rerun.'  That's about right.  This is Desperation 101.  Democrats, aware that they have absolutely nothing to run on this fall, are playing the only card in their hand: Iraq.  It is the reason President Bush is unpopular and they think they can ride the wave.  The only problem is sooner or later, voters will want to know what their plan is.  Then it will become painfully clear that they don't have one.  Nationally, Democrats have nothing to run for, at least nothing they want to promote openly.  A platform of higher taxes and bigger government doesn't exactly resonate with most voters.  The American people know we can't cut and run and they know we have to support the troops.  That pretty much empties the left's tank when it comes to solutions.

Remember: for the Democrats to win, America has to lose in Iraq.  It is the Vietnam template being replayed through and through.

SADDAM ISSUES DNC TALKING POINTS

Saddam Hussein, through his American lawyer, the treasonous fraud Ramsey Clark, has written a letter to the American people

Let's take a peek at the contents, shall we?

First of all, it's 5,000 words long.  Tyrants love tirades.  There's no way we can touch on every point...that would take forever and would  frankly be quite boring.  So we'll hit the high spots.

According to Uncle Saddam: "People of America, the misfortunes that have afflicted you and afflicted our Arab nation and within it our heroic people — including the breakdown of America's standing and reputation — were only caused by the reckless behavior of your government and by pressure from Zionism."  Sound familiar? But wait, there's more.  "The massacres and blood that now flows in the streets and countryside of Iraq in torrents — the responsibility for that falls on America before all others."  (I wonder if the bloodshed and in Iraq's rape rooms and torture chambers while Saddam was in power were our fault as well?)

The letter went on to state that Bush lied about WMD and there was no connection between Saddam and Al-Qaeda (he would know, right?  And Saddam never lies.  Such an upstanding guy.)  If all of this sounds a bit familiar...it should.  Saddam's ramblings are a carbon copy of the Democratic National Committee talking points.  Howard Dean, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, John Murtha and Al Gore could have all written Saddam's Letter.  Perhaps Saddam has a secret ghostwriting  job we don't know about.

Oh..and Saddam is still on his hunger strike. But get this...it was announced that he is drinking coffee with sugar and nutrient-laced water.  Hey...that's cheating!  That may keep the Butcher of Baghdad alive...but in case it doesn't, Howard Dean will have to sneak Saddam a bologna sandwich (beef, of course) to keep him going.  After all, good speechwriters are hard to find!

CYNTHIA WATCH

OK ... I've pretty much decided that I want Cynthia McKinney to win her primary runoff against Hank Johnson.  Either way, a Democrat wins, so why not root for the Democrat who will be the most ineffectual?  Why not root for the Democrat who will be the greatest embarrassment to the Democrat Party and to the Congressional Black Caucus?

Now, having said that, I will be sure to give you the latest news on the activities and comments of The Cutest Little Jihadist in Congress as we move toward the primary runoff.  Our pal Jamie Dupree tells us that Cynthia has been a no-show this week in Washington.  She did have an official leave-of-absence for votes cast on Monday and Tuesday, but she was supposed to be back at work, representing the people of Georgia's 4th Congressional District, on Wednesday.  She wasn't.  She wasn't there Thursday either. This week she has missed 19 votes on the House floor.  One of the votes she missed was the attempt to override Bush's veto of the stem cell bill.  She also missed a vote on a constitutional amendment on gay marriage.

There is no word on whether or not Cynthia will return to Washington next week.  Who knows?  Maybe she sees the handwriting on the wall.  Maybe she knows that she has a slim chance of prevailing in the primary runoff and has decided to start her retirement early.

In the meantime, those evil Diebold machines are just waiting for her to pack her bags.

Can a machine be a racist?

REDNECK SCRAP BOOK

You know this attempt at car repair is probably taking place in a front yard. More in the Redneck Scrap Book.

READING ASSIGNMENTS

Ruth points out that someone has set one of Neal's better rants on Muslims to a slide show and posted it on youtube.

CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric says she will not be going to the Middle East to report on the war there.  Says the perky one: "I think the situation there is so dangerous, and as a single parent with two children, that's something I won't be doing."  There may be hope for her yet.

A hate-spewing Muslim cleric who fled Britain in 2005 is now begging the British Royal Navy to save his hide.  He wants the British government to let him back in on humanitarian grounds.  Should have thought about that first.

President Bush's back rub of German Chancellor Angela Merkel is now all over the Internet, thanks to websites that host video clips.  If you want to see it, you can click here.

The current war between Israel and Hezbollah shows the high price of appeasement.  Hal Lindsey says you can trace that policy all the way back to 1993 and the 'land for peace' deal with the Palestinians.

Pat Buchanan is no fan of our current policy toward Israel.  He takes issue with a recent editorial by Bill Kristol which calls for air strikes on Iran's nuclear reactors.

Kevin McCullough calls out Barack Obama for telling a lie at this week's NAACP convention.  Apparently Obama implied that President Bush would not sign the Voting Rights Act.  Of course, Obama should be reminded that it was Democrats that opposed the civil rights movement in the first place.

Thomas Sowell has a shocking observation: if a cease-fire was going to work in the Middle East, wouldn't it have worked the other umpteen times we had a cease-fire over there?  He says people need to learn to tell the difference  between rhetoric and reality.

Governments around the world have been condescendingly admitting that Israel has a right to defend itself.  Oliver North wonders why that even comes into question.  Don't all countries have that right?

Speaking of a cease fire, Mona Charen says if Israel is forced to stop fighting, then Iran and Syria will benefit as will Hezbollah. She also takes the New York Times to task for their pro-appeasement editorial page.

Just how big are the disagreements in the Republican Party over President Bush's foreign policy?  David Limbaugh says the differences aren't as widespread as the media would have you think.
