TUESDAY -- 666
ARE YOU READY FOR THE APOCALYPSE?
Well, here we are. The year that has
been anxiously awaited since, well, since the last time this happened, on June
6th, 1906. Yes, whether you date in the European fashion, or the Western,
any way you look at it today is 6/6/6. I think I'll just stay in bed.
THE
BEST CONGRESS MONEY CAN BUY
The nonpartisan Center for
Public Integrity released
a study yesterday and it showed that over a 5+ year
period between 2000 and 2005, members of Congress (both Republicans and
Democrats) accepted $50 million in travel from corporations and special interest
groups. This makes Jack Abramoff look like a pauper. Among the findings:
Members and their aides
took at least 23,000 trips paid for by outside interests
-
2,300 of
the trips cost more than $5,000
-
500 cost
$10,000 or more...and 16 cost at least $25,000.
Among the
goodies:
-
$500 a
night hotel rooms....not exactly Motel 6.
-
$25,000
corporate jet rides (yep..it costs that much. Trust me.)
-
200
trips to Paris, 150 to Hawaii and 140 to Italy.
Since
companies don't pay millions of dollars for nothing, what do you suppose they
got in return? Corporations and special interest groups pay for influence
because they want a member of Congress to listen to their proposal or push their
personal legislative agenda or tax exemption. Imagine how much less money
would flow through the halls of Congress if there was no income tax and thus no
complicated tax code. Whenever you're talking about power in Washington, know
this: the overwhelming majority of that power is derived from taxation.
Yet another argument for
the Fair Tax.
BIDEN SAYS NO PLAN TO WIN WAR
Delaware Senator Joe
Biden, who is running for president and who once chaired the Senate Foreign
Relations Committee, is once again complaining about George W. Bush's handling
of the war in Iraq. He said that
Bush had no plan to win the war in Iraq,
essentially accusing the White House of endlessly waging the war for no
particular reason.
Fair enough, but if he
doesn't agree with the current course, then what's his solution? Ah .. that's
where things always fall apart with Democrats. They don't like the way Bush is
doing it, but when you get ideas like this:
Split Iraq
into three separate countries, one for the Kurds, Sunnis and Shiites. This was
Biden's plan. Pure genius.
Cut and
Run, also known as the Murtha plan. Simply leave Iraq and hand over the keys to
that Islamic terrorist animal Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi. See if he can do anything
with it. Brilliant! Just brilliant!
Set a
deadline, then leave. This is essentially Cut and Run Lite, because the
terrorists will just cool their heels until we bolt.
Send more
troops. This is the part where the Democrats (after much success in Vietnam)
will play the part of U.S. Military Generals and decide what our troop levels
should be.
In all of
this I'm left wondering just where we would be in Iraq, in Afghanistan, in our
problems with Iran ... where would we be today if the Democrats had, three years
ago, decided that they were going to get solidly behind the president in his
plan to bring freedom and elected representative governments to the Middle East.
I think there's a good chance we would be out by now, and freedom would have
taken a strong hold. Instead, the Democrats and the idiotic
peace-at-any-price crowd have concentrated on fighting the president and his
efforts every step of the way. Democrats and the left --- the heroes of
the Islamic insurgency.
FRANCINE BUSBY -- REVISITED
Well, today is the day folks.
So ... what was Busby's exact quote?
When a Latino man stood up in the audience and said "I want to help, but I don't
have papers" Francine Busby responded "Everybody can help, yeah, absolutely, you
all can help.
You don't need papers for voting. You don't need to be a
registered voter to help."
Tell me now .. just what part of "You don't
need papers for voting" is so difficult to understand? Hold on to that
thought for a moment. I want you to read an email I received from a
Democrat. Here you go. Enjoy:
Subject: Honestly, does
stupid hurt?
Name: Rob Kaufman
Email: Robxxxxx@verizon,net
Message:
If it does you have my sympathy because you must be in excruciating pain. I
know you right wing whackjobs like to misinterpret what Democrats say, but to
have to lie to do it is quite sad; even for you. Just how do you idiots
conclude that Francine Busby said this moronic comment," Busby is telling
Latinos that they don't need to be here legally to vote." Any person with
half a brain, and yes I understand that must be the reason you didn't grasp
what she said since you have less than half a brain, would understand that she
was telling the crowd that they do not need to be registered to vote to help
on her campaign. I guess according to you then anyone who is not registered to
vote must be here illegally. So truly sad, but hopefully Rush can get you some
OxyContin to help with that pain you are enduring.
So there you go. This is what passes as
rational and logical thought on the part of a died-in-the-wool Democrat.
Busby says "You don't need papers for voting." Kaufman conveniently
ignores that specific sentence and just blithely moves on to the next one: "You
don't need to be a registered voter to help." Of course Mr. Kaufman, I can
clearly see that Busby told the crowd that they didn't have to be a registered
voter to help on her campaign. For the life of me I can't figure out why
you can't also see that Busty clearly said that you don't have to have papers
for voting! Then you come up with the simply amazing conclusion that it is
my considered opinion that anyone who is not a registered voter must be here
illegally. But ... you're a liberal Democrat. Rational and logical
thought isn't exactly your strong suit, now is it? Oh .. and nice dig on
Rush. Totally expected from your ilk.
THIS IS GOING TO MAKE AN AMAZING CHAPTER
Yesterday afternoon was routine. I had
lunch, went home, closed the doors to my office, put on the Bose noise-canceling
headphones, and started writing. Somebody's Gotta Say It is due at the
publisher in few months. Time's a wastin'!
After an hour or so I paused to check the
email. Web Guy had been hard at work culling some of the more strange and
vitriolic responses to my comments yesterday on
Bush's pandering to the
homosexual-hating bigots out there. And ohhhhhhhh ... the email!
OK .... some examples: (No spelling
corrections attempted)
-
I do think you should take a biology class.
Nature has all the answers for you. You know I love my dog, so much, should I
marry my dog???? Wait till the animal lovers and the petiphiles want the same
right.
-
I waited on hold for an hour today to
disagree with gay marriage. I could hear you while on hold. You only let
supporters of gay marriage speak. You went to far this morning my friend. I am
tuning in Bill Bennett and Laura Ingram at am 920 from here forward. I know
you don't care about my side of the argument and I am glad you love your gays
so much. One question, when is your coming out party?
-
Boortz, There you go again showing people
how stupid you really are on this marriage amendment. ... You sit there and
say this does not mean anything at all, it is just political, it is to make
Bush look good, so on, so on, man you are a fool. This is about the minority
try to control the majority in a vote that has been pasted. (Yeah,
those "pasted" votes can really be a problem, can't they? NB) Wake up man
this is not about homosexual marriage it is about majority rights.
-
today i heard you say that g bush is upset
that there are some gay couples in the neighborhood love each other. when did
you become the champion for gay rights? maybe you have some homosexual
tendencies. The next thing you know you might be leading the gay rights parade
with juliani.
-
...our religious beliefs so the argument the
pervert left uses to try and separate law from morality is a non-starter. In
biblical times, the law dictated the punishment and God with His Son Jesus
Christ and the Holy Spirit (The Holy Trinity) DESTROYED TWO MAJOR CITIES AND
KILLED THOUSANDS OF HOMOSEXUALS because their behavior ran afoul of man's law
and certainly that of God.
Oh well .. you get the idea. I lost
count of the childish "I'm never going to listen to you again" emails, and now
we have a new twist. Several wrote to tell me they weren't going to
support the FairTax any more because I'm not for a Constitutional Amendment to
ban gay marriage.
Well ... first of all. Bad news for
those who wrote me such loving emails. We found out yesterday that there
are not enough votes in the Senate to pass the amendment .... so it's dead.
Stone, cold dead. Game over. Bush will have to find another group to
pander to or, miracle of miracles, actually find some issue that the American
people can really get behind.
So ... here's what I mean about an amazing
chapter. Since my discussions of homosexuality and gay marriage generate
so much anger among a narrow band of listeners, I've decided that I simply must
stir that puddin' in the book also! So I'll start writing a chapter on the
issue. I'll include some of the scientific research that points to a
genetic anomaly that brings about homosexuality. We'll discuss the
"homosexuality is a choice" argument, as well as those university studies which
show that those who display the most homophobic tendencies seem to be unusually
aroused by homoerotic photographs! And throughout the chapter we'll print
some of the more amazing emails we get from the "I'm never going to listen to
you again" crowd. Durn ... wish I had saved more over the years.
Neal was talking about Squids on crotch rockets today. Here are two motorcycle morons.
MORE ON THE WONDERFUL RELIGION OF PEACE
Last night before I hit the sack I was
watching some high-def TV show about some lost civilization that was centered in
the Himalaya Mountains in Tibet. This particular civilization was located
on the Silk Road trading route between Europe and China and was quite rich in
and of itself, with gold and iron contributing to its wealth. The
civilization is gone now. And what happened? Muslims, that's what
happened. The nations surrounding this region converted to Islam and then
the wars began. Eventually this isolated kingdom was wiped out completely.
Watching this special I was struck with a thought (unusual, I know). At
first glance it seems that since somewhere in the 1500s or 1600s the people of
most nations and civilizations touched by Christianity and Western culture
seemed to thrive to one degree or another, while the people of nations and
civilizations touched by Islam seemed to generally suffer at worst, or just
simply remain mired in their third-world status at best. Would anyone like
to prove me wrong on that?

Those big beer coolers are heavy. Someone, probably a redneck,
came up with a solution to
hauling it around. More in the Redneck Scrap Book.

ASSIGNMENTS
Hey...here's an
enterprising idea. Instead of trying to round up illegal aliens and boot them
out of the country,
Great Britain is paying them to leave. $6,500 to get out of the country.
Wonder if that would work with the fence-jumpers down South?
Pat Buchanan has an interesting perspective on this Haditha business.
He says if it's true, a serious collision is coming between Middle America,
which will side with the Marines and mainstream liberal media.
The New Orleans police
chief has announced that
in the event of another hurricane, he will confiscate private firearms.
As you might expect, people in favor of the Second Amendment aren't too happy
and are calling on the attorney general to take action.
Here is an excellent
example of why government should stay out of the charity business.
An analysis has found that New York politicians squandered about one-third of
the $20 billion in federal aid
given to the city after the 9/11 attacks. That's $6.66 billion dollars...down
the drain.
Thomas Sowell doesn't mince words about the recent Senate immigration bill.
He says it not only does nothing to control our borders, but it makes them less
secure. He calls it nothing short of selling out our nation's birthright.
How bad is the Haditha
"massacre" and is it going to occupy a place in history, along the lines of the
My Lai massacre in Vietnam?
Christopher Hitchens says there's no comparison.
Ann Coulter has a new book out today...and she would like you to know about it.
In today's column, she excerpts a portion of the first chapter, free for her
loyal readers.
David Limbaugh would like to know where the people who normally crow about "a
rush to judgment" are
when it comes to the Haditha incident? Suddenly, when it comes to the U.S.
Marines, people who defended Bill Clinton and O.J. Simpson are nowhere to be
found.
Professor Mike Adams continues his studies of Mormonism...continuing
today with some of the legendary stories of Joseph Smith. He also takes a look
at whether the Book of Mormon belongs in the same league with the Bible.
There was good news out of
Iraq recently...where American soldiers were exonerated in one incident where 13
Iraqis were killed. Naturally, the media ignored the good news....and continued
to push the Haditha story.
Cal Thomas has more.
