A FANTASTIC FATHER'S DAY GIFT!
Here's a little paragraph that appeared in a column in
today's Atlanta Journal-Constitution:
"When a Fair
Tax rally draws 4,500 people, some of whom drive hundreds of miles, as the
one did Wednesday night, you gotta take the movement seriously. And that's
those who got in the door. Another 2,000 were turned away. U.S. Rep. John
Linder (R-Ga.) and Neal Boortz have started something."
Father's Day is approaching. A few weeks ago I
signed 1000 copies of The FairTax Book for Father's Day gifts.
Here's a

HERE'S AN IDEA! LET'S LIMIT FREEDOM!
Some organization, the Consumer Federation of America, has
has come up with an amazingly stupid idea on how to combat high energy usage.
They want to
ban advertising of gas-guzzling SUVs on television
[pdf]. They have
other brilliant ideas, such as an SUV buyback program. Just who would buy
them back? Well, I would suppose this gaggle of idiots would propose that either
the government (which means the taxpayers) or the automakers buy them back.
Either way the cost is passed down to individuals; either taxpayers or
shareholders. They also want a federal gas tax that would stabilize, as
they call it, gas prices at about four bucks a gallon. Oh .. and they say
they have polls showing strong consumer support for their ideas.
In the America of 2006 you don't have to look far to find
someone who will tell you of all of the problems we can solve by just limiting
freedom with more government controls and regulations. We have an obesity
problem, why not ban the advertising of foods that exceed a certain caloric or
fat content? How about a cheeseburger buyback program?
The really sad thing is that these idiots actually manage
to get media attention.
ILLEGAL ALIENS HIT THE LOTTERY
The Senate has passed,
and will now send to a conference committee with the house,
a bill on illegal
immigration. Here is how the bill proposes the 12 million illegal aliens in
this country be handled:
- Those who have been
in the country illegally for between 2 and 5 years...get to join a temporary
worker program. That means they get to stay here. That means their
illegal actions are being forgiven and rewarded. That's amnesty.
- Those who have been
in the country illegally longer would go on an 11-year probation, then get
citizenship. Again ... .amnesty. And just how in the hell are they going
to prove they've been here for more than 5 years? Why, with the same
forged documents they used to get jobs!
- Oh...and they'd have
to learn English, pay a penalty and clear up any back taxes. OK ...so they have
to buy their amnesty. And learn English? Mark these words.
They'll have to answer a multiple-choice quiz on some simple English phrases.
That's it. You could learn what they will have to know in one weekend.
There is no denying this
.. there is no getting around it ... this is amnesty. Yet another reward
for the lawbreakers. Depending on your motivation, these Senators have
either listened to their leaders promising them a new era of Democrat control
with the votes of millions of new Hispanic voters, or they've listened to the
businesses in this country who have profited through the use of cheaper illegal
labor. Who aren't they listening to? No secret there. They
aren't listening to us.
You have to wonder if
Mexican President Vicente Fox brought a few suitcases of cash with him on his
recent trip to the United States. First of all, this plan not only does nothing
about the 12 million illegals here. Does anyone really think the illegals that
have been here less than 2 years are really going to be returned to Mexico? Fat
chance.
Second, what effect do
they think these kinds of laws are going to have on future illegal aliens? The
message will be heard loud and clear: break into the United States, buy your
time for 2 years doing odd jobs...then you get a guest worker program. We're
encouraging people to break the law. Why not just take down the fence and tell
everybody to come on down?
Now the House says that
there is not going to be any amnesty. No way, no how. Ain't gonna happen.
Sorry ... my money is on the Senate bill and amnesty. Here's something
else you can bank on. The Mexican invasion of the United States will
continue unabated. Sure, they're promising to seal the borders in this
bill. They made the same exact promise in their last amnesty bill in 1986.
Eleven million invaders have crossed since then. There is no will to stop
them now.
WHITE HOUSE CAVES ON HOUSE PAPERS
The FBI raided
Representative William Jefferson, Democrat of Louisiana's office...seizing
documents in a corruption investigation. The FBI had a search warrant. It
all happened just the same way it would happen if they wanted to search YOUR
office. From the minute it went down...members of the House...both
Democrats and sadly Republicans...have been spinning around on their eyebrows
and spitting wooden nickels. They think he should have had a warning the Feds
were coming, so Jefferson could destroy the evidence.
Congress called it a
separation of powers issue. The executive branch overstepped their bounds. So
yesterday, President Bush...the head of that executive branch...caved in.
Imagine that
He ordered the documents
sealed for 45 days while people try to
figure out what to do. Nobody has access to those documents for 45 days. This
has probably crippled the FBI's case.
What good is 45 days
going to do? What will be different then from now? The only explanation is
that the House lawyers want to go through every document and decide what the FBI
should get.
So .. .why did Bush cave to the
Imperial Congress? Perhaps it's his way of
trying to get conservative Republicans back on his side after his failure to
handle the issue of the Mexican invasion. At any rate ... it's clear that
our elected officials -- many of them anyway -- clearly believe themselves to be
above the law.
It will be interesting to
see what happens 45 days from now.

GEORGE GALLOWAY BACK IN ACTION
Remember George
Galloway? He's the ultra-leftist Member of Parliament in England.....the
terrorist sympathizer who represents a largely Muslim district. He also known
to have been on Saddam Hussein's payroll. Now he's crossed the line just a
little.
In an interview with GQ
magazine,
Galloway actually said this: "Would the assassination of, say, Tony
Blair by a suicide bomber - if there were no other casualties - be justified as
revenge for the war on Iraq? Yes, it would be morally justified." He then went
on to say he wasn't calling for it.
Imagine if that was said
in this country by a member of Congress. No never mind. I forgot.
It would be bad if a citizen were to say something like this .. .but we have to
remember that if you're a member of congress the law simply doesn't apply to
you.
REDNECK SCRAP BOOK
With a few inexpensive items a redneck just may have come up with
the best way to capture
illegal aliens as they cross our border. More in the Redneck Scrap Book.

So what effect are higher
gas prices having on summer travel?
According to AAA, absolutely none.
In fact, more people...not less...are going to be traveling this year.
Jurors in the Enron trial
are speaking out after
former executives Ken Lay and Jeffrey Skilling were sent to the can for the rest
of their lives. They say Lay in particular did no favors by testifying.
Iran has made an offer to
talk directly to the United States...and
Charles Krauthammer says we should tell them to go take a hike.
He calls it a ploy...and we shouldn't take the bait. Good advice.
Speaker of the House
Dennis Hastert attempts to explain his position on the William Jefferson raid...and
why it was wrong...in an op-ed piece for USA Today.
William F. Buckley has
checked his copy of the U.S. Constitution...and finds nothing that prohibits the
search of a Congressman's office.
He explains how Hastert and Pelosi are reaching when they say the search was
unconstitutional.
Senator Rick Santorum says the bill the Senate pushed through is exactly the
wrong way to fix our
immigration laws. You can count him out as a fan of amnesty for illegal aliens.
David Limbaugh gets to the point and explains why President Bush has done
himself no favors by
caving into Congress and ordering the documents seized from Jefferson's office
sealed for 45 days.
Mona Charen looks at two recent hires President Bush has made...Tony
Snow as press secretary and a new domestic policy adviser...and says both are
excellent choices, for reasons she explains.
Al Gore's latest rantings
about the environment show that he's still the same old Al Gore, and certain
members of the media are still worshiping him.
Jonah Goldberg has more.
Sally McNamara sounds the alarm on something we've talked about before.
And that's the long-held dream of the United Nations to achieve the power of
taxation over the world. Hold onto your wallet.
