BUSH SPEAKS TONIGHT

President Bush will make his address to the nation tonight on the issue of what the politically correct among us refer to as "illegal immigrants" or the "immigration" problem.  The "immigrant" word seems to have stuck.  It's just a nicer way of saying "gate crasher."  The proper phrase is not "anti-immigrant" because these people aren't immigrants.  Immigration is a legal procedure, and those who ignore the legalities and just flow across the border in violation of our laws don't earn that label.  If these home invaders are immigrants, than we could just as easily apply the same name to an invading army.  Call them what they are, and please don't cloak them with the same respect do most of our ancestors who followed the law and waited in line to get here.

By the way ... apparently talk show hosts like me are part of the problem.  Over the weekend I read the words of some columnists who made references to "anti-immigrant talk radio."  Secondly, instead of "anti-immigrant," what's the matter with the phrase "pro-sovereignty?"

We're really going to have to wait until after Bush's little speech tonight before the real discussion starts, but there are a few points I would sure like for him to cover.

1.  We're supposed to have a military capacity in this country to fight two separate wars in two separate areas of the globe at the same time.  Now we hear that we don't even have enough troops to put on the Mexican-American border.  If we can't stop the Mexicans from invading the  U.S., we sure as hell can't stop Kim Jong Il from invading South Korea.  Sup wid dat?

2.  Does your idea of a path to citizenship put these illegals who have flooded our country ahead of those who have followed the rules and who have gone to our embassies and consulates, filled out the proper paperwork, and then have waited for their return phone call?  If so, aren't we, the great country of the rule-of-law, rewarding these people for ignoring those laws?

3.  Are you willing to place harsh penalties on American employers who hire illegals?  We know that these employers of illegals are huge supporters of the Republican Party.  Can you put your oath of office to defend the borders of this country ahead of those campaign contributions?

4.  Do you have the courage to tell Vicente Fox that his open support and encouragement of the Mexican invasion is not making him any friends in this country, and that it will no longer be tolerated?

5.  Are you willing to take a principled position and stand up to the sure-to-come demands from the left that non-citizen Mexicans and Hispanics be allowed to vote in local elections around the country?

Speaking of El Presidente .... Mexican president Vicente Fox called Bush yesterday to ask if he was militarizing the border.   Well, duhhhhh.  Pretty nervy guy, that Vicente.  Let's see ... the Mexican government is openly encouraging the invasion of the United States by it's low-skilled workers.  The Mexican government even prints instructions on how to cross the border, and to avoid being caught once in the US.  There are reports -- too many to ignore -- of uniformed Mexican troops appearing along the border to assist Mexicans in getting across, even reports of illegals being ferried across the border in Mexican army troop carriers.  And, to top it off, there are reports that uniformed Mexican troops have actually fired on U.S. Border Patrol agents trying to intercept Mexican drug smugglers.  In the face of all this .... Vicente Fox calls Bush to ask if he's militarizing the border?

Fox has a lot at stake here.  Mexico is a country rich in natural resources and people.  There is no reason Mexico can't be  a thriving economic power unto itself -- no reason, that is, except for the rampant corruption throughout the Mexican government.  The illegals streaming across the border into the U.S. give Fox relief on at least two fronts.  One, they relieve the pressure for reform that could lead to jobs and opportunities in Mexico.  Two, the illegal invaders represent about a $20 billion per year boost to the Mexican economy.  That's "free," if you will, money just flowing into Mexico via wire transfers from the gate crashers living and working in the U.S.  Oh ... and by the way ... that's $20 billion that's not being spent here to boost our economy.

Bush will take the position tonight that there is just no practical way that we can deport the 12 million illegal Mexican and Hispanic aliens now in this country.  Fine .. I agree.  We can't deport them.  Logistically, it would be a nightmare and would most likely result in violence and riots in many American cities.  We can, though, yank out the welcome mat.  I've gone through this on the air and in the Nuze before, but just in case the president's speech writers wanted to take a look at my notes before they polished up Bush's remarks, (yeah ... right) ... here's just how to reverse the flow:

1.  Harsh .. to the draconian level .. penalties against any employer who knowing hires any workers who are not in this country legally.

2.  Punishment - though milder - of any employers who hire illegals because they didn't conduct due diligence in the hiring process.

3.  Change the law to deny citizenship to children born to a woman who is in this country illegally.

4.  No children of illegals in American government schools.

5.  Deny all social welfare benefits to anyone who is in this country illegally with the one exception of life-saving medical care.

6.  Confiscate a substantial portion of the monies earned in this country by illegal immigrants.  We confiscate drug money because it was earned illegally, so why can't we confiscate the money earned by illegals?  I'm not saying take it all.  Leave them enough to buy some food and get a bus ticket to Matamoras.

Does all this sound harsh?  Sorry ... I suppose it is ... but these people are criminals.  They are NOT, as their signs proclaim, America.  The idea here is to make them feel as unwelcome here as we possibly can.  Yank out the welcome mat from under their feet.  Make them prefer life in their own country to a life of deprivation here.

There's a letter making the Internet rounds.  It was a letter to the editor of a newspaper in North Carolina, but I've been unable to track it down.  Whoever wrote it ... it's brilliant.  Here you go:

To the Editor:

Recently large demonstrations have taken place across the country protesting the fact that Congress is finally addressing the issue of illegal immigration.  Certain people are angry that the U.S. might protect its own borders, might make it harder to sneak into this country and once here, to stay indefinitely.

Let me see if I correctly understand the thinking behind these protests.

Let's say I break into your house.  Let's say that when you discover me in your home you insist that I leave.  But, I say, "I've made all the beds and washed the dishes and did the laundry and swept the floors:  I've done all the things you don't like to do.  I'm hard-working and honest ... except for that part where I broke into your house.

"According to the protestors, not only must you let me stay, you must add me to your family's insurance plan and provide other benefits for me and my family.  My husband will do your yard work because he too is hard-working and honest ... except for that breaking in thing.

"If you try to call the police or force me out I will call my friends who will picket your house carrying signs that proclaim my right to be here.  It's only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I do, and I'm just trying to better myself.  I'm hard-working and honest .... ummmmm .... except for that breaking in thing.

"Besides.  What a deal it is for me!  I live in your house, contributing only a fraction of the cost of my keep, and there is nothing you can do about it without being accused of selfishness, prejudice and being anti-housebreaker!

Did I miss anything?  Does this sound reasonable to you?  If it does, grab a sign and go picket something.  If this sounds insane to you call your senators and enlighten them because they are stumbling in the darkness right now and really need your help.

(Name? _______________)

Well ... let's see what Bush has in store for us tonight.  I'm virtually certain he is going to make the case for the 12 million illegals in this country staying.  Add that to the past amnesties and we'll have about 30 million or so Mexicans and Hispanics in this country who came here illegally and later had their behavior cleansed for the sake of politics.

EAT THE RICH!

So .. you're upset that the capital gains and dividend tax cuts have been extended?  You agree with Democrats and various other anti-capitalist leftists that this is nothing but a handout to the rich?

Let's test that theory.   Let's see just what the evil rich have been getting away with since the taxes on their precious capital gains and dividends were cut in 2003.

Fact:  The wealthiest 3% of Americans have seen their tax payments to the Imperial Federal Government of the United States increase at twice the rate of the other 97% of taxpayers from 2001 to 2004.

Fact:  Today, three years after the dividend and capital gains tax cuts, the richest 3% of Americans are paying almost as much in total income taxes to the federal government as the other 97% of taxpayers.

Those evil rich bastards are really getting away with murder, aren't they?

QUICK --- SOMEONE ALERT DALE CARDWELL!

Who's Dale Cardwell, you ask?  Well ... since these program notes are read virtually around the world, I'll explain.  Cardwell is a television "journalist" for our sister station, WSB-TV in Atlanta.  Several weeks ago Cardwell succumbed to the siren call of a local anti-airport group and did a scare piece on all of the "unknown" airplanes that were flying in and out of Atlanta's Dekalb-Peachtree airport and that the government didn't know where these airplanes were going or who was in them!  Oh, the humanity!  Of course Cardwell forgot to mention that his own television station's news helicopter took off from that very same airport many times every day without filing a flight plan .. which meant that the government didn't know where it was going or who was in it!

Well ... hopefully just in time for sweeps ... we have a scoop for Dale Cardwell!  It happened just this past Saturday in Budapest!  Someone was flying a model radio-controlled airplane and it crashed into a crowd and killed two people!  Oh my God!  Do you mean people can be killed by a model airplane? Well --- if a model airplane could kill two people just by crashing into them, think what that model airplane could have done if it was loaded with explosives!  Or nerve gas!

Now I happen to know that there are people right here in the city of Atlanta who own and fly model airplanes, and the government doesn't know who they are!  What's more, the government doesn't know when and where they're going to fly their model airplanes!  This is a security nightmare!  Why, someone could park outside of Turner Field while a game was going on, launch a model airplane from a parking lot, and fly it right into the stadium!  Imagine the carnage!  Obviously these model airplane hobbyists need to be identified and licensed, and the government needs to be notified every time they fly one of those potentially lethal airborne bombs!  It's happened in Hungary, it could happen here!

OK Dale!  I've done your work for you!  Now get on the story!  Your first call should be to your pal and great American watchdog Mickey Feltus!  A dedicated public servant like Mickey needs to know about this disaster just waiting to happen!

YOU GOTTA SEE THIS ....

Last week a London Court ruled on a court case involving Apple Computer and the record label owned by the Beatles.  How exciting.  At any rate, BBC called one Guy Kewney, the editor of Newswireless.net, to their studios to be interviewed about the court case.  When a production flunky ran to the lobby to retrieve Mr. Kewney for the interview he managed to grab a clueless cab driver instead.  The poor cabbie, who could barely speak English, was slammed onto the set and suddenly he was being interviewed about a case he knew nothing about.  You gotta give him credit.  He was game .. in spite of the look of absolute panic when he realized what was happening.  Here's the story.  There's a link in  the story where you can watch the interview.  Nobody knows who the cabbie is.  They're looking for him, and if they find him he'll be an instant Brit celebrity.  Thanks to Drudge for finding the story!

THIS SHOULD SCARE THE HELL OUT OF YOU

Someone named Dr. Robert O. Freedman, of the Baltimore Hebrew University wrote an op-ed piece for The Baltimore Jewish Times in which he suggested that what this world needs is an International Religious Court that would ask governments to punish anyone who directs an insult at any religion or religious figure.  Freedman writes" All governments must agree that the negative depiction of religion is out of bounds."  What Freedman means, of course, is that it should be a crime to make a negative comment about religion.

Nice, huh?  A real champion of free speech, that Dr. Robert O. Freedman.  Sadly generations of government education have rendered a huge segment of the American population a little to dull to understand just how dangerous Freedman's words are.

MAKE 'EM GO HOME AGAIN

Do you ever notice how many former congressman and Senators live in and around Washington DC?  When you fall in love with government you REALLY fall in love with government.  Here's an idea.  What if we passed a law saying that a member of congress must return to and live in his or her home district for five years after leaving office!  Hmmmmmmmm

TIME TO START DRILLING

If ever there were a reason to start drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and to start more offshore drilling down in Florida...this is it.  You see, Venezuela is a nation where we get a lot of oil.  Unfortunately, that nation is currently fronted by an absolute lunatic...the leftist dictator Hugo Chavez. Because of the control he has over the oil market, Chavez is much more dangerous than say...Castro.

Our friend Chavez was in England over the weekend...meeting with the mayor of London.  You know the Lord Mayor Ken Livingstone, don't you?  The Lord Mayor is  also buddies with the Islamic terrorists that run Iran.  Chavez announces that if the United States were to attack Iran, oil would hit $100 a barrel.  Said the Venezuelan crazy man: "If they attack Iran, the Iranians will cut off their supply of oil. We would do the same if we were attacked. We would cut off our oil.  Moreover, Iran has said it would attack Israel, and I know they have the wherewithal to do so."  Sounds a bit like Democratic talking points, doesn't it?

This is why we must begin drilling for as much of our own oil as possible. Every day that goes by that we don't, we strengthen nutcases like Chavez and terrorists like the ones that are in charge in Iran.  Oh sure, we might not trade directly with Iran...but all available oil goes into the world market, contributing to the overall price.  And just what has gotten us into this jam in the first place?

Leftist, socialist, anti-capitalist environmental extremists, that's who.  The next time somebody comes out against drilling in ANWR, perhaps you should ask them why they're supporting the economies of terrorist countries?

CLINTON MORE HONEST THAN BUSH?

A new poll shows just how effective the revisionist, anti-Bush media has been in re-casting the Clinton years as a roaring success for this country.  According to CNN, 46% of people surveyed said Clinton was more honest than George W. Bush.  Only 41% answered correctly...saying Bush was more honest than Clinton.

So why does Clinton have the edge?  According to CNN's reporting, they say it's WMD and the CIA leaks.  Right.  But what they fail to report is that there is not a single shred of evidence that proves George W. Bush lied about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, nor is there any evidence that he lied about any CIA leaks.  In fact, President Bush and the entire Bush administration have been exonerated in the leaking of Valerie Plame's name.  The next time some of your Democrat buddies accuse Bush of lying, ask for the evidence.   They won't have any, because there isn't any.  By the way, you do know that weapons of mass destruction were found in Iraq, don't you?

But Clinton..dishonesty was normal operating procedure for him.  From lying while under oath to telling his bimbos to "deny, deny, deny" to several dishonest business dealings...there isn't enough room here to list everything.  But the media, always looking for the chance to spruce up Bill's legacy...they cover it all up.

By the way .. this same poll also says that the majority of Americans think that Clinton did a better job of solving their problems.  If you think that it is the government's responsibility to solve your problems, then it is no wonder that the sheeple of this country would think that a Democrat outperformed a Republican.

FAIRTAX RALLY - WILL YOU BE THERE?

Here's the deal folks. If we can get some sort of indication as to how many people are really going to come to the FairTax Rally May 24th, we may be able to upgrade to a larger venue. So, if you are going to be there, RSVP here. It's not for nuthin'. At the rally, 5 of these people and a guest will be upgraded to the front row! Don't worry. You don't HAVE to RSVP. You're welcome if you do and welcome if you don't. It'd just help us if you did.

READING ASSIGNMENTS

So what are Hillary Clinton's chances of winning the 2008 presidential election?  Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich says she is beatable. Perhaps he will be the one running against her.

According to Newsweek, George W. Bush's approval rating is up 6 points....to 35%.
This proves yet again that the result you get in a poll depends on who is doing the polling and who is being polled.

An immigration bill hits the floor of the Senate today.  What would this one do to curb the flow of illegal aliens?  Nothing.  In fact, this one would double the amount of legal immigrants coming into this country.  That should do it...not.

And now a little history lesson...for those who want price controls and windfall taxes on oil companies.  Patrice Hill says those ideas were tried in the 1970's...and led to several shortages.

There have been a few left-wing Democrats that have called for George Bush's impeachment.  So Mark Davis explores the idea:  just what would they impeach him for?  Turns out there's not really a reason.

Congress doesn't just hand out pork-barrel spending in the form of money for worthless bridges.  As Robert Novak reports, there's plenty of taxpayer-funded handouts to corporations, too.

The NAACP opposes the idea of school choice vouchers...but why?  Star Parker points out that their position is designed to keep more black people in poverty.

With every column, Professor Mike Adams takes on one institution of higher learning or another...all in an effort to stamp out political correctness.  Today's target: Bucknell University.  Always entertaining, never dull.

The biggest problem facing Republicans this fall as they try and retain control of Congress is making sure the base turns out.  And as Jack Kelly explains, that base is hopping mad.

The United States' decision to send $10 million to Hamas...as the leaders of the Palestinian Authority...is a mistake.  Diana West wants to know just when we're ever going to get tough with the Palestinians.
