OFF TO THE BIG APPLE

As soon as the show is over today I'll head to New York City.  The occasion is a debate on the fair tax hosted by The Donald and Paula Smith Family Foundation.  I'll be debating Yale law school professor Michael J. Graetz who, by the way, served in the Department of Treasury as the Deputy Assistant for Tax Policy.  Talk about being out-classed!  Here's the talk show host, who, although he is an attorney, never practiced any tax law, debating a Yale law professor who used to be the Treasury Deputy Assistant for Tax Policy.  I sure hope that flight to New York this afternoon is serving alcohol.

THE INVASION FORCE SHOWS ITSELF.

Well, you saw them for yourselves.  Hundreds of thousands of Hispanics, most of them Mexican, marching in American cities across the country.  This was called an "immigration march," though most of those marching weren't immigrants.

Here are some loosely structured thoughts on what we saw yesterday, and what is to come:

Did you know that one in ten Mexicans now living who were born in Mexico are now in the United States?  Eighty-five percent of them are here illegally.  Of those marching yesterday, it is estimated that 80% of them were Mexicans, and the vast majority of them were here illegally.

Many of the invasion marchers were carrying signs.  Let's take a look at a few of them:

No human is illegal  Quite right.  Being a human is not illegal.  Humans take actions that are illegal.  Coming to this country and then staying here without abiding with our laws is illegal.  Their actions are illegal.

Today we march.  Tomorrow we vote!  And don't the Democrats know it!  Why do you think Ted Kennedy and Hillary were in full pandering mode yesterday?  Remember, there are movements in areas of Hispanic population concentration for giving non-citizens the vote in local elections. In New York City there are calls for allowing illegal aliens to vote.  After the next amnesty agreement the pressure will be on to get these Hispanics, citizens and non-citizens, to the polls.

We are America   You are NOT America, neither do you want to be. America is citizens and legal residents who recognize and appreciate our rule of law, and who make every effort to abide by those laws.

We are not criminals   Yes you are.  You violated the law when you crossed the border.  You violated the law when you remained in this country.  You violated the law when you obtained a job in this country.  You continue to violate the law every day you are here.  What is a criminal if not someone who violates the law?  Deal with it ... you're criminals.

Unions were heavily involved in yesterday's demonstrations.  They're looking for something that will bring them more members.  Members = power.  Jamie Contreras is a spokesman for the Service Employees International Union.  Contreras said:  "The immigrant sleeping giant is now wide awake.  People are paying very close attention to the attacks that are happening, both in the Senate and in the House.  We're fed up.  We're tired.  We're here to show our strength in numbers."  Now .. did you hear that "people are paying close attention to the attacks that are happening ... " line?  What's he talking about?  He's talking about people, both in our Congress and in the general population who are asking that our laws be enforced and our borders controlled.  These words, according to Contreras, are "attacks."

Another protestor said that "This is America's genocide."  Oh how they love to throw those explosive words around. The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language:  The systematic and planned extermination of an entire national, racial, political, or ethnic group.  Genocide?  Hardly.

Politicians were at these demonstrations, of course.  Most of them were Democrats, of course.  Hillary Clinton said:  "Your faces are the faces of America.  Now isn't that special!  Hillary Clinton believes that people who violate our laws and invade our country are the face of America.  What kind of America is she talking about?  Maybe one day we'll find out.  Ted Kennedy was there too, acting the fool:  "Do you love America?"  he said.  Then he stood there waving his clenched hands in a victory gesture.  What are these illegal aliens  going to say?  No?  Not one of these politicians at the demonstrations  had anything to say about the American people.  Citizens born here and those who came legally to become citizens were the forgotten people yesterday.

You did notice that there were no Mexican flags, didn't you?  When demonstrators arrived they were handed American flags by organizers, along with those "We are America" signs.  They were told to put their Mexican flags away.  What you saw yesterday was a fraud.

Ron Maxwell is a Hollywood director and is not happy with what he saw yesterday.  He's preparing a film dealing with illegal aliens and their invasion of this country.  Maxwell, interviewed on Fox News Channel, said that this is all part of a  plot by the elites of Mexico and the United States Congress to change the social face of America.  It's an invasion.  Twenty or thirty years from now there will be a movement to make the Southwestern US the northern province of Mexico.  These people have no desire to assimilate.  They will soon show their separatist feelings, much like the French-Canadians in Quebec.

Maxwell points out that the figure we keep hearing about 11 or 12 million illegals is a smokescreen.  He reminds us that we've already been through one amnesty deal where as many as 13 million illegal aliens were forgiven for their crimes and allowed to stay.  So, make the number 25 million.

Americans are overconfident.  The United States has been here since the day they were born, and they think that it's bulletproof.  Nothing can happen.  Our country will survive as it is today.  There has been an invasion of over 25 million Mexicans and Hispanics since 1990.  If you don't think an invasion force like that can change the face of this country, then you're asleep.

Fifteen million illegals enter the country.  Then we have an amnesty agreement from Washington.  Nothing is done to control the borders.  Another 11 to 12 million illegals cross, expecting history to repeat itself.  History then repeats itself.  Again, nothing is done to close the border.  What do you expect the outcome to be?

This is the largest mass migration -- invasion -- in the history of the world.  Twenty five million people crossing the border from one country to another in what is historically speaking a relatively short period of time.

Would you be willing to pay the higher prices for goods and service that would result if we rounded up and sent back the illegal aliens?
Yes, send 'em back!
No, we need them for the low-paying jobs
OK .. just for the sake of argument,  let's just imagine for a moment that they get their way.  Let's just go ahead and grant all 12 million illegal aliens in this country permission to stay here.  Green cards for all! What do you think would happen?

Those 12 million would not just live happily ever after.  No, those 12 million would get on the horn and start calling all of their friends in Mexico...and 12 million more would stream across the border.  The invasion would become even more brisk.  The point here is that our first job is to close the borders.  Walls, troops ... whatever it takes, close the borders.  Then we can start talking about what to do with the illegals already here.

We have a 2,000 mile long border with Mexico...that is largely unguarded.  We could secure it,  yet we choose not to.  Why?  Because politicians don't want to.  They're either in the pocket of business that wants to maintain the free flow of cheap labor, or are trolling for votes in the Hispanic community.

At the end of the day, if nothing is done about illegal immigration, more and more are going to keep coming and coming.  How much is enough?  How much before we stand up and stop the madness?

You are watching our country undergoing a profound change ... a change that will be very costly.  Our elected officials lack the political will to do anything about it.

DEMOCRATS SWITCH SIDES

Just a few months ago, the media was reporting that Democrats were going to steal the illegal immigration issue away from Republicans and ride it to victory in November.  Hillary Clinton came out against illegal immigration.  But now, that's all gone by the wayside. The Democrats are back to their familiar position....defending the lawbreakers.

Enter Ted Kennedy.  The Senator from Chappaquiddick has weighed in with his position on illegal immigration.  He says these protests by the invaders from the south are reminiscent of the civil rights movement, which is an insult to those who won that cause.  Ted Kennedy thinks we should just swing open the doors and let all the illegals in that want to come...without any limits.

But in the end, politicians like Kennedy don't see millions of people breaking our laws, sponging off our resources and threatening our national security.  To Kennedy, he seems more Democratic voters and potential children of the welfare state.

And to compare these phony protests to Martin Luther King's civil rights struggle...was an absolute insult to Dr. King, who is no doubt spinning  in his grave.

END OF THE DUKE RAPE CASE?  NO WAY!

Now, it seems, it's time to work on charging the so-called rape victim.  The DNA tests in the Duke Lacrosse case are in.  From what I've read thus far there is no DNA evidence that any member of the Duke Lacrosse team had sex with this woman.  In fact, a lawyer for one of the players says that there is was no DNA evidence found on the woman that would indicate that she had any sex recently.   The attorneys for the Lacrosse players are saying that this proves their clients had no contact with the woman.  The prosecutor is saying that he has the evidence to proceed with making his case without DNA evidence.

So ... right now there is strong reason to believe that the woman may well have lied about the attack.  The evidence isn't conclusive, but it's strong.  Should the case end?  No.  The investigation should be broadened.  Now the investigation should include the possibility of charges against the woman for filing a false police report.  If she did that ... then it should be off to jail with her.  Perhaps she should serve the same sentence one of those she has accused would have served if they had been convicted.

Here's another element for you to consider.  The woman who said she was raped was black.  The people she accused of raping her were white.  She specifically excluded the one black member of the Lacrosse team.  Now ... reverse this situation.  Have a white girl saying that she was raped by three members of a basketball team.  She says that the white members didn't participate in the rape, only black team members.  Then the allegations prove to be false.  How fast do you think the charges of racism would come to the forefront?

TULSA'S NEW MAYOR

Congratulations to the people of Tulsa, Oklahoma.  You have elected a Democrat to be your new mayor who voted twice in the 2000 presidential elections.  You have elected a Democrat to be your new mayor who tried to cheat on her taxes by filing a homestead exemption in two states.  There's nothing like honesty and integrity in government.

AND A CLOSE ELECTION IN ITALY

Italian Prime Minister and Bush ally Silvio Berlusconi stood for re-election yesterday...and the election returns are too close to call.  As of right now, the results show Berlusconi has a very slim lead.  The exit polls had predicted a win for the leftist challenger, Romano Prodi.  Who knows who will win.

But you can bet if Berlusconi gets the boot (no pun intended,) the media in this country will report that it was because of Italy's early support for the war in Iraq.  It will be George Bush's fault.  Never mind that there are several issues in Italy that are driving down Berlusconi's poll numbers...in particular, the economy over there isn't doing very well.

Remember, according to the left in this country, everything bad that happens is George W. Bush's fault.  On the one hand, they tell us he's an idiot while at the same time reporting that he is responsible for nearly everything that goes wrong.

If you have to ride in a limousine, this is clearly the way to go.

Rich Lowry explains why the "jobs Americans won't do" excuse for illegal immigration is nonsense.

The media has been reporting the story that George W. Bush declassified prewar intelligence as if it is news...but as Jack Kelly points out, the mainstream media is recycling old news.  The story was originally reported 3 years ago.

Mark Steyn says we have to face down Iran..because millions of lives depend on it.
Whether or not the west allows the mullahs to have nuclear weapons is an important test  of our will.

Massachusetts Governor and presidential candidate Mitt Romney explains the law he's passed that will provide health insurance for everyone in his state.  It's not exactly the Clinton-style socialized medicine some might think.

The media and Democrats assume Iraq never went looking for uranium in Africa.  But Christopher Hitchens reports that Iraq absolutely did and runs through the evidence.  So much for the 'Bush lied' routine of the left.

Those who argue that we should just let illegal aliens come into the United States as often as they please are ignoring some facts about illegal immigration.  Thomas Sowell says you need only look at the guest worker programs in Europe to see how they work.

David Limbaugh argues that the same Democrats accusing George W. Bush
of leaking classified information are using the same smear tactics they used against Ken Starr in the Monica Lewinsky investigation. They're doing to Bush what they complained was being done to Clinton.

Are we headed toward an inevitable war with Iran?  The White House says not, but Pat Buchanan reminds us that the White House also said Iran would not be allowed to have a nuclear weapon.  So which is it?

Hillary Clinton promised in her 2000 campaign for the senate in New York that she would create 200,000 new jobs.  That hasn't happened, so what's her excuse?  It's the Republicans' fault.

Teachers in government schools just can't help themselves.  An 8th grade teacher in Alabama has been reprimanded for showing a filmstrip that refers to President Bush as a certain kind of hole.  Oh, and by the way, that teacher is also Democrat running for office.  Figures!

So why are so many illegals streaming into the country?  This might be one of the reasons.  An employment agency that sent 70 workers to work in Hurricane Katrina-affected areas had their workers sent home.  Why?  Because the Mexicans showed up, and were willing to work for less.
