DON'T PAY ANY ATTENTION TO THIS DANGEROUS MAN .....
HE'S BLUFFING
I know that the left will urge us to ignore this Islamic
goon, but Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the H.T.H.W.I.C. of Iran, has told a crowd of
"theological students" in Iran that
Islam must prepare to rule the world.
His exact words? Well, according to a former Iran analyst for coalition
forces in Baghdad, Ahmandinejad said "We must believe in the fact that Islam is
not confined to geographical borders, ethnic groups and nations. It's a
universal ideology that leads the world to justice,"
Well, let's put this Islamo-idiot's thoughts on world
domination together with some other pronouncements. The Holocaust is a
myth, Israel must be wiped off the face of the Earth, and Iran is going to
become a nuclear power no matter what the Western world thinks about it.
Here's an idea. Let's ignore him. Let's pull
our troops out of the Middle East and allow Iraq to immediately fall under the
control of Al Qaeda and other Islamo-fascist groups. Let's show Muslims
around the world that we do not have the moral strength to stand up to Islamic
despots. Let's take all of that money we've been spending trying to
liberate Iraq and spend it on making life all comfy for Katrina deadbeats and on
our hideous and beyond-salvaging government school system. While we're at
it, let's engage in a year of self-flagellation over the treatment of Islamic
prisoners and detainees. Let's work hard to strip the president of any
executive powers he may have to fight Islamic terrorism. And while we're
accomplishing all of these worthy goals, let's sit back and see just how much
oomph Ahmadinejad can put into his dream of world domination.
Oh ... and one more thing. While we're at it, let's
make sure we never identify the religion of Islam as the violent entity that it
most assuredly is. Wouldn't want to offend someone, would we?
HERE'S SOMETHING ELSE FOR US TO IGNORE
Saddam Hussein was training Islamic terrorists before we
removed him from power.
According to Stephen Hayes of The Weekly Standard, new
documents captured from Iraq and newly-translated have shown that Saddam Hussein
was, indeed, training Iraqi terrorists in Iraq, thousands of them. The
training took place at training camps inside Iraq in the four years immediately
preceding the invasion.
Now, don't look for any coverage of this revelation in the
mainstream press. You have to go to The Weekly Standard website to get
this information. Why? Because the news if favorable to Bush and
supports his decision to get rid of Saddam Hussein. That makes the news
simply unfit to print. So, you want more information? Good for you!

TEDDY IS TROUBLED
When all is said and done
come January 20, 2009 and George W. Bush leaves office, the biggest mark he
leaves may well be determined by whom he appoints to the Supreme Court. With so
many aging liberals on the court, he may yet have another nomination to make.
So far, there hasn't been much of a shift. Replacing William Rehnquist with
John Roberts...that's a wash.
But what we have going on
now....the nomination of the conservative Samuel Alito to replace the leftist
Sandra Day O'Connor....that's going to change things. Democrats are starting to
realize that if they lose their grip on the Supreme Court, then they'll really
be out of power. The left relies on activist judges to implement their agenda.
And with the Alito confirmation hearings underway this week, we're starting to
see liberals realize this.
Teddy Kennedy said
yesterday that
Alito's record troubles him. Democrats say they'll oppose Alito's nomination if he doesn't tell them how he'll vote on certain cases. But
wait...that's a standard that they haven't held past liberal nominees to the
court to. Doesn't matter.
Alito says good judges
stick to the law...and that's not what liberals want to hear. We should have
some good fireworks this week.
IT'S
ALL ABOUT ABORTION
Here's my chance to stir the puddin' and generate an
outpouring of hate-mail for my ever-growing collection. There is really
only one issue in the confirmation hearings for Samuel Alito.
Abortion. Will Alito vote to overturn Roe v. Wade, or won't he? Here's some
bad news for those of you who are obsessed with controlling women's reproductive
lives. Once again, repeat after me: Abortion will never be illegal
throughout the United States, even if Roe v. Wade is overturned. The
majority of the people in this country are in favor of a woman's right to chose
whether or not she will have a child. Overturn Roe v. Wade and all you
accomplish is placing the issue back with the states and state legislatures.
Oh, to be sure, there will be a few states that will outlaw abortion.
Others may put some additional restrictions on the procedure. All that
will be accomplished there would be to make it difficult for poor women to
travel to another state to get the procedure done. This will result in
more children being born to woman who (a) don't want them, and (b) can't raise
them properly. For the rest, it will simply be a matter of getting in a
car or on an airplane and traveling to the neighboring state where the procedure
remains legal.
Give it up, folks. There are issues we face in this
country that are far, far more important than abortion ... and all of your
protests aren't going to make a difference anyway. Let's concentrate on
things such as the rule-of-law, property rights, and lessening the grasp that
big government has on our lives. Kelo vs. New London is far more important
to Americans than Roe v. Wade.
FREEDOM IS DOOMED
There was news this week
that another big corporation...IBM...was going to be
discontinuing their pension
plan. In its place would be a 401K retirement plan instead...one that employees
would manage themselves. This continues the trend away from companies providing
a fixed retirement benefit along the lines of Social Security and moving more to
a market-based system where people control their own destiny.
People are alarmed. They
expect government or some company to take care of them when they retire. After
all, a poorly managed 401K could lose money. People could retire with nothing!
Looks like a little personal responsibility might be called for here and we
can't have that. No way, no how!
But even more alarming are
the results of a survey out yesterday from something called the Consumer
Federation of America and the Financial Planning Association. When asked what
the most practical way was to accumulate several hundred thousand dollars,
respondents answered:
--21 percent said winning
the lottery was the way to do it. Government loves that answer. The
answer also gives us a read on just what percentage of the American public is
stupid beyond fixing.
--3 percent said a big
insurance settlement was how you got rich. The trial lawyers are happy about
that one, but 3 percent is a bit low.
--11 percent said
inheriting money was how you accumulated wealth.
--And thankfully, 55
percent said saving money each month was the answer.
Now that means about half
of those surveyed have no idea how you get rich in America today. Score one for
government schools. By the way, according to the study, the poorer people were,
the more likely they were to believe the lottery was how they would retire. I
guess that's how they get and stay broke!
NOW HERE'S ONE OF MY MORE BRILLIANT IDEAS
I don't know how many 37-cent stamps I have sitting around
the home and office. Too many. Two-cent stamps? None!
And I'm not likely to have to suffer the frustration of actually visiting a post
office to get any. One, you have the lines, and two, you have postal
counter employees. It's just not worth it, so this morning I put two
37-cent stamps on a letter. Thirty-nine cents to mail the letter, and
35-cents to avoid the hassle. Now, here's an idea. Why doesn't the
USPS create a rule, a temporary rule, allowing people to take scissors and cut
up their 37-cent stamps? Cut each stamp into thirds .. and then we can use
those one-third stamps with a whole 37-cent stamp until our supply is exhausted!
The Postal Service is still getting extra postage on first class mail, and their
customers are saved the agony of a trip to the post office to buy two-cent
stamps! Now, I'm one to experiment. This morning I took an envelope
and addressed it to myself. I put one and one-third 37-cent stamps on the
envelope. I then wrote "excess postage" on the envelope right under the
stamps. I'll report.

READING ASSIGNMENTS
According to National Review's Michael Ledeen,
Osama Bin Laden died from kidney failure last month and is buried in Iran. I
guess the only way to know for sure is to dig him up and do a little DNA
testing.
We haven't had a candidate
for Senate who has this much chance of winning since Alan Keyes ran against
Barack Obama.
John Spencer, who is running against Shrillary, criticized The Hildabeast for
being weak on national security.
Paul Bremer, who used to
be in charge in Iraq,
now says the biggest problem in Iraq was....not enough troops.
Of course, he's pushing a book...a motive the mainstream media never seems to
recognize.
How does government lift a
million people a month out of poverty?
Thomas Sowell says you won't believe what country is doing it: China.
This one should really make the left wet its pants.
The Republican Congress is
increasingly bought and paid for, sending pork home to their constituents and
wallowing in the pleasures of power.
George Will reports.
Ted Kennedy quoted a study
in his opening statement at yesterday's confirmation hearings for Samuel Alito.
The accusation: defendants don't get a fair hearing in Alito's court room.
Byron York takes a look at this so-called "study."
The left is continuing
their effort to demonize Samuel Alito...but
David Limbaugh says it all comes down to the fact that Alito is just not enough
of a right-wing extremist for liberals.
Gas prices are going up again....and
while the left will jump up and down and blame George Bush, they will do nothing
to actually bring the prices down. You know, like drill for more oil in the
United States and build more gasoline refineries.
Senator John Kyl says Congress should make some New Years' resolutions of their
own....and one of
those includes border enforcement. Good luck...doesn't seem to be much
political will on either side of the aisle to do anything about the problem of
illegal aliens.
Speaking of illegal
immigration,
Mort Kondracke opines that the president needs to talk some sense
into his fellow Republicans when it comes to immigration. |
