YOUR GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS AT WORK
There is a history teacher in a government school in Nevada who is
risking
his job by teaching his classes about the American Revolution. Yup. You heard
me right. It's happening in Carson City, Nevada, and in schools across the
country. Joe Enge teaches 11th graders history in the Carson City government
schools. His custom is to begin with the birth of our Nation and to finish with
Watergate. Now the people who run his school want his course syllabus to
change. He has now been instructed to begin his history lessons with post-Civil
War reconstruction. He is not to teach anything about Thomas Jefferson,
Benjamin Franklin, Bunker Hill, the Declaration of Independence, George
Washington, Dolly Madison, Paul Revere, The Revolutionary War or the debate
leading up to the ratification of our Constitution. The school principal
excuses this absurd requirement by saying that other schools are doing the same
thing. Well, he's right. According the the Fox News Channel report I saw last
night, many schools around the country have dropped any requirement for American
history completely! Others, like the school in Carson City, are just focusing
on our 20th Century history, completely ignoring what came before.
Could there be an ulterior motive here? The post-Civil War history of this
country is a history of growing federal government, the weakening of state
governments, increased personal dependence on government, the end of the rule of
law brought about by the emphasis on majority rule, and the deification of
politicians. Perhaps there is a reason government schools don't want to
emphasize the self-reliance and love of freedom that dominated American culture
before the Civil War. No sense upsetting the government-owned apple cart,
right?
Always remember the central lesson your children will be taught at all state
educational institutions. Government is good. Government is great. All rise
up in praise of government.
THE HOSTAGES IN IRAQ
Islamic terrorists in Iraq have
taken four Christian "peace" activists hostage
and paraded them on the Jihad Channel (also known as Al-Jazeera.) The
kidnappers are accusing the activists of being...what else, you guessed it,
spies. Of course, anyone who is not a Muslim is a non-believer and should be
either converted, subjugated or killed. Looks like they're working on the
subjugation part right now. Among the hostages are one American, two Canadians
and a Brit. If history is any guide, things don't look too good for these
folks.
The correct message here is that when something like this happens it's time to
take note of the enemy we are fighting. They will abduct people who are there
to help civilians, parade them on TV and even behead them...all without any
shame. This is the face of Islamic terrorism, our enemy in the War On Terror.
These bloodthirsty animals have absolutely no problem justifying every bit of it
in the name of Allah.
Look for a different spin from the mainstream media. In the pages of the New
York Times you are likely to learn that all of this is George Bush's fault.
Never mind that, as the agency these people worked for pointed out, they knew
the risks of going to Iraq to work. Never mind that it is the Islamic
terrorists that kidnapped these innocent people. No matter...if Saddam were
still in power, this wouldn't be happening. Besides, is Saddam were still in
power these so-called "peace activists" would be pleased with the situation in
Iraq. Saddam good. Bush bad.
And notice how the media won't call the scumbags who did this "Islamic
terrorists." Muslims would never do such a thing, you know.
Oh .. .one more thing. When you hear someone from the left talking about
"peace," be sure to get some kind of definition of that word from them.
Remember, when the Soviet Union was at its strongest Communists would define
"peace" as an absence of opposition to Communism. Could these people be
defining "peace" as an absence of opposition to the Islamic jihad?
THE BOOMING ECONOMY
One of the great mysteries of the Bush administration's second term (and there
are many) is that
the economy is booming....and neither the White House nor the
media wants to talk about it. Let's take a look at some of the good news, shall
we:
1.) Gas prices are dropping like a rock. From a high a few months ago to way
over $3, it's now down to a national average of around $2. The marketplace is
working, though nobody seems to want to report that fact.
2.) Sales of new homes set a record last month. So much for the housing bubble
bursting...doesn't seem to be happening.
3.) The stock market is up. We could break through the 11,000 point by the end
of the week.
4.) Consumer confidence is up.
With numbers like these, Bush's approval numbers should be through the roof.
But unfortunately, because there is a Republican occupying the Oval Office, the
media is springing into action...spinning all the good news as bad. After all
there are still Katrina parasites being kicked out of their free hotel rooms.
The media thrives on bad news....so they have to find it even when there really
isn't any. President Bush should be giving speeches about the economy, not his
phony immigration policy or yet another Iraq speech.

HILLARY'S LATEST EXPLOITS
The Hildabeast, eager to position herself in the political middle as she runs
for re-election in New York and for the 2008 Democratic ticket, has once again
decided to champion a most important cause. Is it illegal immigration? Taxes?
Nope.
Shrillary has focused her beady little eyes* on violent video games. In a
world where government confiscates more and more of your paycheck and the
Imperial Federal Government is spending money faster than it can print it,
Hillary is worried about video games. How nice. So what gives?
In order for Hillary Clinton to have any chance of being elected president of
the United States (go ahead, you're allowed to shudder,) she must convince the
American public that she isn't what she is: a radical leftist. She has to do
what her husband did in 1992 and 1996...pretend that she's a moderate....a
conservative Democrat.
So with an eager media ready to play along, Shrillary is now taking on dirty
video games. How's that for an important issue that affects your daily life?
Video games on the surface, socialized medicine and the growth of the welfare
state on the inside. What a fun year we're going to have in 2008.
*I know. That wasn't nice.
AND SPEAKING OF 2008
My prediction. In the early part of 2008 the hottest topic on talk radio
will not be the presidential election. The hot topic will be attempts by
liberals to silence talk radio in order to clear the way for Hillary's march to
the oval office.

Duct tape...is there anything
it can't do? More in the
Redneck Scrap Book.
YE MERRY OLDE READING ASSIGNMENTS
How to spot a rich guy.
Probably not safe for work.Cindy Sheehan is upset at the wire services for running pictures of her
sitting at her book signing in front of an empty desk with her head propped up.
Apparently there really were a couple people there. Not even close to a FairTax
book signing though.
Michelle Malkin notes that liberals are complaining about the angry right these
days...but it is they themselves that are in need of anger management
training.
The Federal Censorship Commission
has decreed that the violence on cable TV and satellite must be cleaned up.
It used to be that the FCC only regulated the content on the broadcast networks,
but government intrusion knows no bounds.
The TSA is going to
start allowing scissors and sharp objects to be brought on airplanes....because
they no longer pose a threat to airline security. They say explosives do...but
they say nothing about profiling those who would be bringing the explosives.
The nation's preeminent race pimp is making the rounds on Wall Street...and it's
time to collect. The Sloganmaster says the street has a long way to go in
establishing parity for minorities. Of course, the answer to the problem would
be to throw a little money Jesse's way.
We always hear about dead-end jobs like flipping burgers and so on.
Dr. Walter E. Williams says it is wrong to put down those jobs because it is a
destructive insult to honest work.
Looks like Ramsey Yousef Clark is feeling the heat at Saddam Hussein's trial.
It seems the life expectancy as an attorney for Saddam is not too good, and
Clark wants more security.
The Cunningham bribe case is just the tip of the iceberg...Jack
Kelly says investigators are looking at half a dozen other members of Congress,
including Democrats, in the Abramoff scandal.
Anti-freedom busybodies are still running for office...and
John Stossel tells us they want to come into your home and business and tell you
what to do. Excellent as always.
Thomas Sowell has some random thoughts to share....here's a good one: the
only reason Jimmy Carter is taken seriously is because millions of people are
too young to remember what a disaster his administration was.
Is there a move at the United Nations to
destroy the materials gathered in investigating the Oil For Food scandal?
No, couldn't be! The UN is perfect! Why, we should turn over control of the
Internet to the UN, shouldn't we? And we should give the UN criminal courts
jurisdiction over American citizens!
