SADDAM ON TRIAL

Saddam is on trial now in Iraq.  He's being tried in an Iraqi court by Iraqi judges.  He has the privilege of counsel, something he didn't give his victims.  This particular trial is for the murder of about 150 Kurds, and the testimony is quite interesting, to say the least.  As this trial goes forward, please remember that Ted Kennedy, Barbara Boxer, Michael Moore, Barbra Streisand, Harry Reid and many other leftists don't believe this should even be happening.  If they had their way Saddam would still be in charge in Iraq, his torture chambers still operating and his sons still raping, murdering and pillaging. Today Iraqi children are going to schools that didn't exist under Saddam.  Iraqis have electricity and running water for the first time.  The Iraqi economy is growing, for the benefit of Iraqis, not Saddam.  There have been two free elections, one of which adopted a new constitution written by Iraqis.  There will be yet another election next month.  All of this, according to the Democrats, should never have happened.

As the trial progresses, so too will the leftist media's attempts to rehabilitate the Butcher of Baghdad's image.  The latest hero in the Saddam trial is his newest defense attorney.    And just who would that be?  Former U.S. Attorney General and Democratic nutcase Ramsey Clark has joined Saddam's defense.  Apparently a man with absolutely no conscience, he sees nothing wrong with defending a dictator responsible for the murder of hundreds of thousands, maybe even millions of people.  That's no problem for Clark, who as a long-standing America-hater is gladly stepping up to bat for Hussein.

In fact, Clark has quite a history defending the scum of the Earth.  Remember when the Achille Lauro was hijacked back in the 1980's by Islamic terrorists and the man in the wheelchair was pushed overboard and drowned?  Well, Leon Klinghoffer's family sued the Palestinian Liberation Organization...and there was Ramsey Clark defending the PLO.  The leader of the Rwandan genocide? Yep...Clark defended him too.  Oh, and don't forget Slobodan Milosevic...the Butcher of Belgrade is among Clark's clients.

So now he'll be pushing to get Saddam acquitted.  But even that is an uphill battle....because with so many mass graves, it doesn't look like Saddam can be saved. But that doesn't mean some won't try...including the media who tries to convince us he's just a harmless old man to Democrats who say Iraqis were better off under his rule.

I wonder where Saddam's weapons programs would be right now if he had been left in power?  It doesn't seem to matter to Democrats.  That's a chance they were all-too-willing to take to make sure this dictator wasn't deposed.

Spotted on worldnetdaily.com. HOLIDAY trees? What, for Ramadan? Does that include a Chanukah bush? It's a CHRISTMAS tree! Get over it! What's next? Holiday egg hunts in the Spring?

THE END OF AMERICA?

The Drudge Report is reporting this morning that several broadcast television networks are considering a series loosely based on the concept of the end of America.  Details on the various programs aren't yet available, but my bet is that the fictional end will come through either terrorism or some sort of a natural disaster.

The networks have part of this right.  The end of America as we know it could well be on the horizon.  The networks just wouldn't dare present the end as it very well may happen.  The death of America will more likely come from the advancement of the American welfare state.

Empires have life expectancies.  The history of civilization would tell us that a country based on freedom and economic liberty generally last just a bit over 200 years.  If you know of such a society that has lasted well beyond the 200-year mark, let me know.  I haven't been able to find one.  Our Constitution was ratified on December 15th, 1791.  In just a few weeks the United States of America will be 214 years old.  That, for those of you who went to government schools, is just a bit over 200 years.

You can trace the decline of American to several different and varied beginning point.  Among them:

  1. The adoption of a graduated and progressive income tax, as envisioned by Karl Marx.
  2. The adoption of a system of government education of our children, again as envisioned by Karl Marx.
  3. The movement away from a rule of law to a rule of the majority (Democracy) which really took hold during the days of Franklin Roosevelt.

America, the welfare state, is growing steadily.  In the last few weeks we started George Bush's Medicare prescription drug program.  The original estimates for this welfare boondoggle ran at about $300 billion for the next ten years.  Those estimates doubled before the program even began.  The actual tab will probably be closer to one trillion dollars for the first ten years .. and growing after that.  Baby boomers will be retiring over the next decade.  As they retire they will start drawing down Social Security and Medicare dollars by the bucketful.  The cost will be enormous.  As presently structured, these income transfer programs can't handle it, but all attempts at reform, at least insofar as Social Security is concerned, have failed.

Back to the main point.  Americans are no longer in love with freedom.  In fact, the case can be made that Americans are afraid of freedom.  Oh, they want to be free to go on vacation and to chose where to live, who to marry and what to wear each day, but that just about covers it.  Americans  want the government to educate their children, guarantee their jobs, determine their wages, provide them with medical care, pay for their prescriptions,  ensure their comfort in retirement, regulate their business competitors,  and control the actions of their neighbors.  If you suggest that the responsibility for any of these factors be placed back into the hands of the individual the screams and howls of outrage and indignation will be heard across the country.

If the networks want to do a series on the end of America, their script has already been written ... .by some Russian named Ayn Rand.

CRACKING DOWN ON ILLEGALS?

Which is the best solution for dealing with illegal immigration in the United States?
Deport all illegals and lock down borders
Bust companies who employ illegal immigrants with real penalties rather than a slap on the wrist
Guest worker programs
Open borders...let 'em all in!
The Bush administration, which for 5 years now has done absolutely nothing to curb the flow of illegal aliens into this country, has decided it's time to do something about it.  For quite some time now their solution has been to do nothing....except propose an amnesty disguised as a guest worker program.  Nobody wants to talk about deporting those that break the laws of the United States and sneak into this country.  To send them back might cost Republicans the Hispanic vote, and we can't have that.

But the political pressure is on.  People are tired of the United States being overrun with illegals, and the billions of dollars a year it is costing us in social welfare spending.  Democrats are starting to steal the issue...and could even use it to take back the Congress next year.  So Hispandering is out and cracking down is in.  The president is scheduled to make a speech on the issue today.  What will he say?

He's still going to stick to the guest worker program.  To qualify for the program, all you'd have to do is break into the United States from Mexico....sneaking across the border as an illegal alien.  Then, apply for a guest worker card, and you get to work here for 6 years.  He will also call for tightening border security and enforcing the immigration laws.  But that's talking out of both sides of his mouth.

The fact is that if he's going to excuse the act of illegal immigration itself, then how can he at the same time propose cracking down on it?  How do you say that you're going to crack down on border security, but at the same time allow everyone who is here illegally to stay for 6 years?

And is anyone naive enough to believe that at the end of the six years, all of the illegal aliens are going to magically just leave?  Fat chance.  But because there are votes to be had...the Hispandering will continue.  In the meantime, Al-Qaeda is gearing up down in Mexico...ready to sneak across the border for their next Islamic terrorist attack.

Sure does make you feel safe, doesn't it?

GLOBAL WARMING VS. NUCLEAR WEAPONS

A story is making the rounds this morning from somebody being referred to as Britain's "top scientist" about global warming.  A conference is getting ready to kick off in Montreal to decide the fate of the disastrous Kyoto protocol, which the United States (thankfully) won't sign.  The doom and gloom predictions of the radical environmental leftists have already begun.

Anyway, this British Scientist...whose name is Robert May...says that global warming is so dangerous, it should be compared to weapons of mass destruction. Some of these same scientists also are peddling the lie that the latest hurricane season of Wilma, Katrina and Rita are the result of global warming.  The only problem?  Nobody bothers to support that argument with solid science.

But the science doesn't matter....all that matters is the anti-capitalist agenda of those pushing it.  We're supposed to believe that weapons of mass destruction, which could kill millions of people at the push of a button, are the same thing as global warming?  I think not.  Global warming is, at best, an unproven scientific theory.

But the facts don't matter...and expect to hear more outcry and hand-wringing about how the evil United States won't sign the Kyoto Treaty.

YE OLDE READING ASSIGNMENTS

Neal's guest today, Neil Cavuto, author of Your Money or Your Life and host of Your World on Fox News Channel.
President Bush briefs new White House intern.

General motors is in trouble.  The union GM workers want us all to believe that the blame lies with GM management.  If you want to know what really happened, Michael Barone tells you why GM and the UAW's postwar economic vision failed.

Here's a feature article from the Sunday Atlanta Journal-Constitution.  The story details the travails of a convicted felon (he pointed a gun into a teenager's face and threatened to kill him) with a long criminal record.  He got out of prison, graduated from a first-rate (though liberal) university, and now in the world of background checks just can't get a job.  Read this and then tell me your thoughts.

I would strongly suggest that leftist Democrats not read this story.  Nothing can screw up a week for those incapable of logical thought than being slapped in the face with the logical truth.  For the rest of you, here's the speech President Bush should give about Iraq.

Is there any allergy more serious than an allergy to peanuts?  Boyfriend eats peanut butter sandwich --- kisses girlfriend hours later -- girlfriend dies.  Teenagers are so strange that I'll bet the women are standing in line to experience the "killer kiss."

How many happy lottery winners do you know?  Here's another tale of million-dollar misery.  Remember, your mind is programmed to handle a certain amount of wealth.  If your programming can't handle it, you will soon loose it.

When you see a headline "Black Bear Bites Pa. Hunter Who Shot It" you just know you're going to enjoy the story.  I wish deer would evolve into carnivores with a taste for bipeds wearing orange.

With so many people ready to throw in the towel in Iraq, James Q. Wilson reminds us that not only are we winning in Iraq, but we're winning decisively. He says it's time for George Bush to make a new speech on the subject.

The Crawford Crackpot Cindy Sheehan was back in business over the holiday weekend....but with much a much smaller crowd.  She even had a book signing, except nobody showed up.

Pat Buchanan wonders if defeat in Iraq is now considered an option next year, whether the insurgency is gone or not.  All indications seem to point to at least a measured withdrawal.

Unlike her husband who is now opposed to the war, Hillary Clinton is still riding the fence....pretending to support the war and be opposed to a pullout.  And she won't say if she read the intelligence reports before authorizing the president to go to war.

Actor Bruce Willis intends to make a positive movie about the troops in Iraq and the success they are having over there.  He wonders why the good news isn't being reported by the media.

Robert Novak reports on one appointee in the Bush administration
who had to do some serious sucking up to Democrat Dick Durbin in order to get his nomination through.

If you pick up the latest collection of Looney Tunes cartoons on DVD from Warner Brothers, you might be surprised to find Whoopi Goldberg on there explaining that you're not supposed to laugh at certain things.  Mark Steyn tries to figure out what she's talking about.

Charles Krauthammer says it's time for people to start being honest about torture.
He starts with the three kinds of terrorist prisoners, and explains each one.

In a recent column, Professor Mike Adams took on a professor at the Warren County Community College...and said he would tell us why the good professor was so angry.  Today he has the answer: PMS, but not the kind you're thinking of.

In a recent poll, only 27% of Americans said they thought the country was on the right track.  Star Parker attempts to figure out why this is...and says the problems at General Motors are a good start.

Did you see the picture of nut-case Cindy Sheehan waiting for the throng to show up to sign her book?  The throng apparently had somewhere else to go.  Despair not.  If you didn't see the picture, here you go!  When you're feeling low, just take a look at poor Crazy Cindy. It should pep you up a bit.

You will remember -- if you're a loyal listener -- that several weeks ago I told you about Muslim birthrates in France and Europe vs. the birthrates for the rest of the population.  Muslims are out-producing others by a significant margin.  Evidently the same problem exists in India.  Woe be unto the poor sap who suggests that Hindus start cranking up their sex life
