LAST NIGHT'S SPEAKING ENGAGEMENT

The Boortz Show comes to you from 690 WOKV in Jacksonville, Florida today. I was in Jacksonville last night to speak to the Northeast Florida Builders Association. The banquet hall was full of some of the very people that we are led to believe will be dead-set against the FairTax. Well, you couldn't tell it by the applause and the reception the FairTax received. After a one-hour speech I signed well over 100 books for those in attendance. There was not one objection raised -- not one negative response to the FairTax idea. The FairTax is truly an idea that is popular with the people while being unpopular with the political class. The president's so-called tax reform panel was a huge disappointment. The crowd last night was not. My fighting spirit is renewed. Believe me ... the FairTax is far from dead. The idea will only die when Americans have fully surrendered their lives and their economic liberty to the Washington crowd.

John McGrew sends this one in, spotted in North DeKalb County, GA. Woo hoo! I wonder if they gave out bumper stickers that said "My Child Goes to An Adequate School". Come on people, send some in from other states. This is getting to be right embarrassing for Georgia.

A NEW HERO FOR THE ISLAMIC JIHADISTS

Democrat Congressman John Murtha of Pennsylvania took to the floor of the House of Representatives yesterday to call for an immediate pullout of American troops from Iraq. I'm told that Muslims don't drink. Perhaps so, but I'm betting that they were more than willing to throw down a cool one when this Democrat stood up in the U.S. Capitol to plead their case. Murtha was actually calling for the very thing that these Islamic radicals have been trying to accomplish with their campaign of terror against Iraqi citizens and coalition troops.

Somewhere in Iraq yesterday the word of Murtha's cut-and-run strategy reached the home of an Iraqi who had, up to now anyway, been supporting the new freely-elected government of Iraq. As soon as he heard this American lawmaker talk about an immediate pullout this Iraqi started rethinking his options. Perhaps, he thought, it might be better to show some support and allegiance to the insurgency. After all, if the Americans suddenly leave the insurgency will have control of the Iraqi government in no time at all. It would be better to be alive under the insurgency than to die for supporting the new Iraqi government.

Elsewhere in Iraq an American serviceman from Pennsylvania couldn't believe what he had heard. He has seen first-hand the successes of the American armed forces in Iraq. He has personally felt the warmth of the Iraqi people who have shown their appreciation for the efforts of the Americans and their coalition partners. He has seen Iraqis with running water who have never had running water before, Iraqi children going to schools that didn't exist under Saddam. He knows what has been accomplished, and now he hears about this Democrat calling for him and his fellow soldiers to leave --- not when the job is finished, but right now.

And .... somewhere in Iraq, and in Syria, and in Iran, and in Jordan, and in Saudi Arabia, Murtha's words reached the ears of the Islamic terrorists themselves. Last week Democrats were calling for a timetable. This week they have Democrats calling for an immediate withdrawal. They view this as nothing short than an immense victory. They know what they must now do. They must step up the campaign. Strap bombs on more suicide bombers, plant more roadside devices. They have their hated non-believer enemy on the run. Today there's one member of congress calling for an immediate surrender. Kill a few more Americans and tomorrow maybe there will be two. Murder a Mosque full of Iraqis and more will turn against their new government. Kill a few school teachers and school children and more Iraqi children will shun the schools newly built by Americans. The infidels are collapsing. They're growing weak. Their resolve is dissolving. Keep up the pressure --- step up the pressure --- and soon Iraq will be theirs! Not only will Iraq be theirs, but the Arab people will once again have a stark reminder that the Americans cannot be trusted to keep their word, to carry out their goals. Once again the Americans will have left tens of thousands of Iraqis to die at the hands of the Islamic terrorists.

Why didn't Murtha take this one step further? Why didn't he ask for us to restore Saddam's presidential palaces and put him back in power before we run?

Tell me. Is Murtha a French name?

MEDIA LIES ABOUT CUTS

Yesterday the House of Representatives passed a bill by a razor-thin margin of 217 to 215 cutting spending.  According to the media, these were painful cuts in programs for the poor, students and agriculture. The only problem?

There were no cuts.

What these spending "cuts" refer to are cuts in the growth of spending.  That means rather than giving the poor, students and farmers a raise next year, we're going to give them a smaller raise.  Boy, that's some "cut."  Imagine if the rest of the world worked that way?

Husbands and wives could tell each other when they go shopping....don't worry, I'll cut my spending..and wind up spending more than they did last time.  But no problem...they were going to spend more and didn't! It's a cut!

Don't expect the dishonest left in the mainstream media to ever correct the lie, either.  Except for Fox News (once in awhile) the mainstream media will use the word "cuts" over and over.

No wonder the country is going bankrupt.

BASHING BOB WOODWARD

Legendary Washington Post reporter Bob Woodward is in the dog house.  Held up for decades by the left as the patron saint of Watergate, Woodward has fallen out of favor with liberals over his role in the Valerie Plame case.  So what did Bob do?

He simply kept the promise not to reveal his source, until he absolutely had to.  I thought that was supposed to be the honorable thing to do...because journalists are protected by the First Amendment and all.  But that's not why Democrats are hopping mad at Woodward.

It's because he's screwing up their political witch-hunt of the Bush administration.  Because of Woodward's admission, it makes more plausible Scooter Libby's defense that he heard about Valerie Plame from journalists.  Patrick Fitzgerald's case is now weakened. He says he's going to press on with it...but it's more doubtful he'll get a conviction.

So who was Woodward's source?  He's not saying...but Karl Rove says it wasn't him and now there's word today it wasn't Dick Cheney.

The whole Valerie Plame (non) affair is getting weaker and weaker.  And the left couldn't be more upset.

READING ASSIGNMENTS

Ann Coulter continues to take on George Clooney and his movie about Joe McCarthy
...she says the left can't produce a single person falsely accused by McCarthy.  Oh, and did you know one of Edward R. Murrow's good friends was a Soviet Spy?

Here's a little good news for those parents who don't want teachers drugging their children: Congress has barred schools from requiring ADHD drugs as a condition to attend classes.

A major new poll finds that 40% of Americans believe we should mind our own business and withdraw from the world.  More and more people are forgetting September 11th.  A frightening show of hands, for sure.

One French diplomat has admitted to taking bribes from Saddam Hussein.  Now watch this story and see if it gets any play in the mainstream media. Doubtful.

Time magazine reporter and Plamegate figure Matt Cooper has called the Washington Post leak of secret prisons "a good leak."  That's right..he's admitting that it's good because it embarrasses a Republican president.

It's looking more and more like Bob Woodward may have saved Scooter Libby.  One former Independent Counsel is calling on Fitzgerald to drop the indictments.

A new study casts doubt on the entire theory of global warming.
It turns out there may be an innocent explanation for it....which is why you won't hear about this anywhere in the mainstream press.  Can't speak the truth if it contradicts the radical environmentalists.

Will the Democrats try to impeach George W. Bush?  Mort Kondracke says if they can, they'll try.  But just as it really didn't work out for the Republicans with Bill Clinton, the same could happen with the Democrats.

Dover, Pennsylvania may have thrown the creationists out on their heads, but Charles Krauthammer says the push for "intelligent design" succeeded in Kansas.

The economy is booming! Need proof?  Larry Kudlow has it....and you'll be surprised to learn just how well things are going.

David Limbaugh says Republicans should be jumping all over Democrats who are calling for the United States to cut and run in Iraq.
