ANOTHER AMERICA-HATER HEARD FROM (Friday, 6:30 pm, EDT) Randall Robinson wrote a book entitled "The Debt What America Owes Blacks." That cracks the door on Robinson's entitlement mentality. Now the door has been thrown wide open by Robinson's contribution to the leftist Huffington Post on the Internet. Read what Randall Robinson has to say here. Then come back to read my response. Robinson is angry about the delayed response to the tragic situation in New Orleans. We all are, but Robinson goes too far. He calls America a "monstrous fraud." Even though I might be able to understand his anguish, his outrageous comments cannot go unanswered. Robinson begins his screed with the totally unsupported charge that there are reports that black hurricane victims have turned to cannibalism to survive. I would like to take a moment to respond. OK, Mr. Robinson, What's your source? Do you even have a credible source for your cannibalism charge? Maybe, Mr. Robinson, you begin your Huffington posting with that inflammatory line just to get attention. After all, if we were to challenge your assertion it would certainly expose us as racists, wouldn't it? You say that you're angry at your country for doing nothing when it mattered. Nothing? Just what country, Mr. Robinson, were those helicopters and rescue swimmers from that I saw on Tuesday morning plucking victims black victims from rooftops? Did those helicopters make a supersonic flight across the Atlantic from the African continent to assist in the rescue effort? For the past three nights my family, my wife and daughter, have been working Red Cross and Salvation Army telephone banks, Mr. Robinson. They were taking donations from Americans to help the victims of Katrina. My wife would have to beg volunteers to go home because there were only so many telephones, and there were more volunteers lined up outside that wanted to help. Did you see any of this, Mr. Robinson? I rather doubt it. You were too busy seething with hatred for America, Mr. Robinson, to have learned of this particular phone bank, and of the tens of thousands of like-minded Americans who were lining up across America looking for a way to help. Since you are so seething with race-based animosity, Mr. Robinson, let me share something else with you. Every single time I walked into that phone room; every single time I saw those volunteers on the phones on television; every single time, Mr. Robinson, the vast majority of those volunteers were white. This phone bank, Mr. Robinson, was deep in the heart of a majority-black city, and the bulk of the volunteers were white. These are the Americans who you said were "doing nothing when it mattered." You wrote that thousands of blacks in New Orleans were dying like dogs, and that no one has come to help them. No one, Mr. Robinson? Nobody at all? Pretty hideous country, isn't it Mr. Robinson. Millions of dollars collected in this one phone room in Atlanta in 60 hours ... and we're doing nothing at all. Now you have finally come to see America as a "monstrous fraud." Let's talk a bit more about coming to help those in desperate straights, Mr. Robinson. Helicopters show up at New Orleans hospitals to evacuate patients, and they're fired on by black predators in the streets. People show up to help, and blacks try to murder them. They you have the outrageous audacity to claim that America is doing nothing, that nobody is coming to help. Friday afternoon we heard that blacks showed up outside the BellSouth building in St. Bernard's Parish. Inside that building were BellSouth employees who had been trapped there by the water. Black employees, white employees, who wanted nothing more than to get out. Did the blacks you're so concerned about show up to help rescue the BellSouth workers? No .. they showed up to loot. They showed up to kill. They started firing on the BellSouth building, and on the law enforcement personnel who showed up to help. There is word that one police officer or national guardsman was killed, Mr. Robinson. Are you going to write that they were doing nothing when they met their death? Would you care to address the rapes in the Super Dome and the New Orleans convention center, Mr. Robinson? Black predators roamed these places looking for rape victims. Petrified tourists were beaten - Helicopters on rescue missions fired on by blacks.
- Doctors and nurses in stranded hospitals moving patients to higher and higher floors, as black looters invade the floors below.
- A cry for help from a children's hospital on Tuesday night, as black looters try to break in from the streets.
- Police officers making rooftop rescue efforts, fired on by roving gangs of armed blacks.
Then along comes Randall Robinson to tell the world that blacks are having to eat corpses in New Orleans because no one has come to help them. Tell you what, Mr. Robinson. I would like for you to give some heartfelt consideration to a request a suggestion I would like to make. Ready? Please take this in the spirit in which it is offered. I, and I daresay many others, would like for you to sit down and shut the hell up. You're a fool, Mr. Robinson. A race pimp. A race warlord. Right not you are not part of the solution, you're part of the problem. You're words gave great comfort, I'm sure, to those who's response to this tragedy was to pillage and rape. After all, what more does a monstrous fraud deserve? Right, Mr. Robinson?
THE SURVIVAL OF NEW ORLEANS BLOG CRACKING DOWN ... TOO LATE Yesterday afternoon and last evening I did what I have been doing most of the week ... I sat in front of the television watching the devastation and the dual nature of man unfold in New Orleans and the Mississippi Gulf coast. I'm not there .. so I can't say with any certainty just what is or is not transpiring in the New Orleans war zone. I think that most of you will agree that the appearance is that the response has not been swift enough nor strong enough. It seems that were getting much more television face time with FEMA and Homeland Security officials than were are actual action. We keep hearing what these officials are going to do. They go on television and tell us that they're conducting the biggest disaster relief project in the history of this country. Gonna, gonna, gonna. But we still see the video of Katrina victims huddled in groups all around New Orleans ... with no officials in sight. A story came through last night from a New Orleans hospital. Doctors and nurses who had been on duty there since the hurricane struck have been moving patients to higher floors as the looters invade the floors below them. These hospitals have helicopter pads on the roofs. These are hospitals, dammit. Why aren't helicopters landing troops on the roofs of these hospitals to find these predatory looters and kill them? Do you realize what we are seeing here? We are seeing a preview of how the federal government would handle a massive terrorist attack on a large American city. We're seeing a preview of how the federal government is going to react when -- not if, when -- Islamic terrorists manage to launch a devastating attack on a major American city. We had warning on this hurricane. Days of warning. The Muslim terrorists have already issued their warnings ... do you think we're ready? The looters. We can't lump them all together. There are those who are looking for food and water, and those who are looking to steal anything of value they can get their hands on. There is not one among you who would not break through the door of a grocery store or restaurant to find food or water in a situation like this. Shoot them? Not good. But clearly officials were too late -- much too late -- in showing that the random looting of businesses and stores would not be tolerated. Aren't we all a bit tired of hearing the Governor of Louisiana tells us all how she is now ready to crack down on the lawlessness in New Orleans. She's been ready to crack down for days. Have you seen it on TV? Police say that they weren't arresting people because they didn't have any place to put them. One of the first responsibilities of government in times of disaster is to restore order. This means that you stop people from preying on other people. If some looters had been shot and killed on day one -- not at grocery stores, but at clothing, appliance or jewelry stores, or in the casinos or at an ATM -- if a looter had been shot the first day, we would have seen a lot less violence. Maybe things are changing .. finally. Now we have the Louisiana governor saying of the newly arrived National Guard troops: "They have M-16s, and they're locked and loaded ... I have one message for these hoodlums: These troops know how to shoot and kill, and they are more than willing to do so if necessary, and I expect they will." In 1906 a devastating earthquake hit San Francisco. The mayor at that time was one E.E. Schmitz. Mayor Schmitz issued a proclamation. Perhaps you would like to read it:

Let's take a look inside the Super Dome. They wouldn't let the media in. Why? Did they know what was going to happen there. You can't walk around in the Super Dome at night because you'll step in human waste. Women are being dragged into restrooms and raped. Fires are being started. Gunshots have been reported. Fights are commonplace. On day one helicopters could have landed outside the Superdome loaded with armed National Guardsmen with orders to treat predators harshly. Didn't happen. They searched everyone before they entered the Super Dome. No guns allowed. This left innocent people unable to defend themselves. Does it sound trite to say that an armed society is a polite society? Would the predators have been so eager to drag women off to rape them in the bathrooms if they thought that there was someone nearby with a gun that would step in? We are reaping the results of a liberal culture that seeks to make excuses for violence and criminal activity. HEY JESSE! AL! WHERE ARE YOU GUYS?
Several listeners emailed this question, so I thought I would pass it on. Has anyone heard from Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton? Have any of these great and exalted black "leaders" issued a statement asking for their brothers in New Orleans to stop the violence? Just asking. If you've said anything, I haven't hear it ... and I'm pretty much glued to the media on this one. OFFICERS AWOL?
One news report says that 20% to 40% of New Orleans police officers are AWOL. In case you didn't now, the New Orleans police department was a highly politicized organization. There was a rule stating that they had to live within the city limits. Those who were dedicated to law enforcement, but who didn't want to live within the city limits, could not serve. Hiring and promotions had a strong racial component. People from New Orleans that I've talked to aren't that surprised at the news of AWOL police officers or the apparent lack of command and control in the New Orleans Police Department. NOW --- LET'S TALK A BIT ABOUT GUN CONTROL

I mentioned this above .. but let's bring it up again. Gun control. For decades the left has been eager to disarm the American people. Democrats and liberals have been dedicated to the idea that only government should have guns, that the people should totally and completely put their right of self defense to government. How would you like to have been one of the people in New Orleans who sat out the storm in their house, only to now find to now find predatory looters trying to come through the front door ... and no police help available. One shot through the door to take out that first looter and the rest would run. They're looking for safe targets, not homeowners with guns. And what about the hospitals? I'm almost dead certain that the rules in these hospitals forbade any employees from having guns on the premises. Now we hear about doctors and nurses moving patients to higher floors of hospitals while looters make their way upstairs. Do they wish they had guns now? How about that children's hospital that was under siege a few nights ago? Now you know. In times of disaster and civil unrest the government isn't - can't be there to help you. You will, at least for some period of time, be on your own. You have a responsibility to your children, to your family members, to protect them. Are you up to it? Do you have a gun? What about this program I told you about a few weeks ago .. a program whereby you were supposed to ask the parents of your children's playmates whether or not they had a gun in the home. Presumably you were supposed to tell your children they couldn't visit a home where there was a gun in the house. How special. OK ... so let's say that your child is visiting one of these wonderful gunless homes .. and some disaster strikes. Maybe it's an earthquake, or our Islamic friends. You can't get to your children, and you know that there are predators and looters in the streets. Your children. Are they safe? Are you proud that you made sure that the adults in that home would have no way to protect themselves --- and your children --- until the cops got there. The gun control loons out there have all sorts of ideas as to how to get the guns away from law-abiding citizens. Have them explain to you just how they are going to make sure that the predators don't have guns when disaster strikes. HOW ABOUT THOSE GODS OF WAR?
So you see those helicopters doing their humanitarian rescue work in New Orleans? Many of those helicopters came from a Navy ship located off the coast of Biloxi and New Orleans. They are being flown by Naval aviators. One week from tomorrow Cindy Sheehan, Code Pink and others from the leftist anti-military brigade are scheduled to show up at the Brunswick Naval Air Station in Maine to protest. Protest what? Protest a show by the Navy's Blue Angels --- the very symbol of Naval aviation. Cindy Sheehan says that she will be there to protest this worship of "the Gods of War." That's it, the Blue Angels and Navy aviators are the "Gods of War." I'll repeat my plea from yesterday. Please, Democrats --- PLEASE, my liberal friends, keep Crackpot Cindy out there in the news. Make sure the microphones are around to record her every word. She's just wonderful. ASKING THE QUESTION
Yesterday, House Speaker Dennis Hastert dared to ask the question of whether or not it was a good idea to rebuild New Orleans back to the way it was. You would have thought he proposed bulldozing the city with all of the people still in it, the way some responded.
The governor of Louisiana whined about being kicked while they were down. But the question is a good one: should billions and billions of federal funds be used to put the city back in the same condition? What would be the point? There New Orleans would be...a sitting duck for the next hurricane. It would still be below sea level. Sure, the American taxpayers are going to step forward .. but should they step forward to rebuild a New Orleans below sea level again? It could be time to do something different.
Perhaps the answer is to bring the city to higher ground. But to simply fix the levees and rebuild the city would be an irresponsible act. It's time for better urban planning to ensure that another Hurricane Katrina doesn't come along and have the same effect.
People may want to shoot the messenger on this one, but given the sums of money involved, it's worth a look.
THE WONDERFUL, PEACEFUL RELIGION OF ISLAM. CHAPTER 23,503
Here we have Muhammas Yousef Al-Mlaifi. He is the director of the Kuwati Misistry of Endowment's research center. He has published an article entitled "The Terrorist Katrina is One of the Soldiers of Allah. Read it here. You do remember the tsunami, don't you? After that horrible disaster struck the Islamic populations along the Indian Ocean the United States reacted with massive aid. Now disaster hits America and Muslim officials sing the praises of Allah. When are we going to learn -- to understand the true nature of this dangerous and violent religion. REPORTING FROM NEW ORLEANS
By far the best reporter working in New Orleans is the Fox News Channel's Shepard Smith. When he's on I cease every other activity to watch. He delivers information, empathy and insight with an amazing prose. This is his moment ... and he's the best there is out there. SAMPLING THE EMAIL
** Many Kudos for your NUZE on price gouging! Couldn't write you earlier, too busy making the same points in my Macroeconomic courses (gifted under-achievers, 98% products of government high schools) ... you do a great job dispelling ignorance, hopefully together we can educate some of these young folks ... Now, if we can get the talking heads at Fox and CNBC to stop talking about growth from the repair of the damage [remember Bastiat's Broken Window Fallacy], we may make a difference ...Lou W ** The Federal government should evacuate the people and help relocate. The City of New Orleans should be left to rot ** Good thing we weren't on the letter G when they named the storm- Dems would want to name it hurricane George. They can't beat him with ideas so they're so desperate they have to try to blame a Hurricane in him. These are despicable vultures trying to score political points off of others' tragedies. Plus they know their caught with their pants down over this whole oil shortage. Keep up the good work exposing those split tongue vipers.... ** Congratulations on your email. In times like this it is important for us to be reminded that America is still capable of producing people who display no outward signs of intelligence or logic. While so many people are rallying to help the victims of Katrina, we need to be aware that the slow-thinkers are still among us. And thus it will ever be. ** Neal would you please read this quote I found on the net to possibly educate some of the morons I hear screaming about price gouging at the gas pumps. Thanks, Harry Demmon. (Pensacola, Fl.) "There is no such thing as price gouging, and anyone who says otherwise is a Communist fool. In a capitalist economy there is no such thing as "price gouging"! In the old communist economies of East Europe there were always lines for everything as things were always in short supply. That was because the prices were kept artifically low. There was no incentive to produce goods for artificially low prices. When they switched to capitalism the lines dried up when the prices went up. The stores are now full of goods. The prices are much higher as well. There were those who complained "But the price of bread is now 10 times what it used to be and I can't afford that." The answer to that is: "If the price of bread is so high then now is the perfect time to get into the bread-making business." Those who saw opportunity thrived. Those who ran to the government for protection -- well, they are called "Democrats."
Tour Gallery | amazon.com reviews REDNECK SCRAP BOOKWe're starting to run a bit low on material, so excuse the obvious and poorly photoshopped entry. Maybe while you people are on vacation this weekend you'll see some appropriate things and send them in. More in the Redneck Scrap Book.
READING ASSIGNMENTS The July 10th issue of U.S. News & World Report contained an article entitled "Big Blow in the Big Easy." Perhaps you would like to read it in light of what happed almost two months later. Here's another link; this one to an article from the October 2004 issue of National Geographic Magazine. New Orleans can't say it wasn't warned. Germany is blaming the United States for the high price of oil. Europe blaming the US for something? What else is new....but they do point out something correct: the lack of refining capacity.
Haley Barbour got into it with Miles O'Brien on CNN....of course, the TV anchor was trying to get him to bash the Bush administration, and Barbour wasn't having it.
Columnist Stanley Crouch is stirring the pot on this one: he says it's time to legalize drugs. Not convinced? Check out his column.
The lawlessness and the disaster currently going on in New Orleans is the failure of government to do proper disaster planning. Good points from James Pinkerton.
ABC had a sit-down interview with George W. Bush recently, and as the Media Research Center notes, Diane Sawyer was ready with the liberal talking points.
Here's some good advice for the law enforcement types in New Orleans from Mona Charen: shoot the looters. That should quiet things down.
With all of the coverage of Hurricane Katrina, people are probably forgetting about the Iraqi Constitution. Charles Krauthammer brings us up to speed.
Joel Mowbray examines the firing of Michael Graham and wonders whether or not CAIR is killing free speech in the United States.
More on the Iraqi Constitution from David Limbaugh. He says we shouldn't expect the Iraqis to give out all the rights we're accustomed to.
Oliver North tells us that not even Hurricane Katrina can stem the hate and hypocrisy coming out of the bitter left these days. |
