NEW ORLEANS
Well, I must say that the crunch portion of The FairTax
Book tour ended with somewhat of a bang. I thought it would be a good idea
to bring Royal, Belinda and Ken down to New Orleans for a little partying over
the weekend to coincide with my signing at the Borders in Metairie and my
Saturday morning brunch with some 690 WTIX contest winners. We were all
originally going to leave on Sunday afternoon .. but plans are always subject to
change.
Virtually as soon as we got to New Orleans on Friday we
started making arrangements to get out on Saturday, as soon as the WTIX Brunch
with Boortz at the Ritz was over. Belinda and Royal did just fine.
They had reservations at 2:45. The bride and I had AirTran reservations at
7:45 Saturday evening. The evacuation of New Orleans started at 1:00 on
Saturday afternoon ... so we decided to plan for some crushing traffic and left
for the airport at 2:00. What is normally a 20 minute trip turned into 90
... and we felt lucky with that time!
We can't say enough good things about Dan Fraiser and Rob
Hunter from WTIX. With that hurricane bearing down on them they sure had better
things to do than shuffle us around ... but they made sure we were taken care of
before anything else. I also want to thank the people of the greater New
Orleans area. The signing on Friday night was sensational. They
estimate we signed about 600+ books with a crowd that approached nearly 1000.
By the time the signing was over Belinda was weighted down with about 45 pounds
of beads. I hope there are pictures somewhere. [there
are!] We also had a
good group for our Saturday morning brunch. I spent about 40 minutes
answering questions .... all about the FairTax. These folks were well
informed. Now we in the Boortz crew are hoping and praying that the people
we met are all safe.
Amazingly enough, it wasn't until Friday night that we
encountered our first real jerk of the tour. Some character walked up to
the table and started tossing around those "where will you spend eternity"
tracts. I told him to go away and he started screaming "You need Jesus" as
he left. "Yeah," I muttered to myself; "and you need class."
EVERYONE AGREES?
I caught this on Face the Nation yesterday morning.
[transcript found
here] Some reporterette from Baghdad was pontificating on the status of our troops in
Iraq. This statement caught my attention: "Everyone agrees, the
sight of American troops on the Iraqi streets makes everybody mad." That,
my friends, is pure bullsqueeze. I've talked to far too many American
servicemen in the past few weeks at airports across our country. The
common theme in those discussions is that the media isn't giving the true
picture to the people of this country, and that American troops are generally
loved and admired by Iraqis.
"Everyone agrees" ...... Yeah, right.
THE AMAZING AND FABULOUS HIP HOP CULTURE
Well .. it happened again. More gunshots at some Hip
Hop party .. this one in Miami.
Hip Hot Big Shot Suge Knight was shot in
the leg and is to undergo surgery today. Feeling sorry for Suge?
Well, not exactly. It's not like he's lived some sort of a squeaky clean
life up to now. Let's see ... there was the 1992 conviction for assault and
weapons violation. Then he was jailed in 1996 for violating probation
after a video camera caught him and some Hip Hop pals beating the crap out of a
gang rival. Some have even suggested that Suge Knight was involved in the
killing of Notorious B.I.G, although he's never been named as a suspect.
Are your children into this Hip Hop crap? Well ...
just know that your kids are fawning over a culture of anger, resentment,
predatory sex, disrespect for women and general violence. But, then, you
don't have any control over your kids anyway, do you? Maybe all you can do
is hope for the best.
THANKS, ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION
Now just how hard is it for a newspaper to print the
correct New York Times Bestseller's list? It really shouldn't be that much
of a challenge, but yesterday's Sunday edition of The Atlanta
Journal-Constitution printed a NYT list from three weeks ago. If you just
happened to pay $5 for a New York Times yesterday instead of $2 for the AJC you
will have seen that The FairTax Book is, for the second week in a row, Number 1!
Now ... will the Atlanta Journal-Constitution print the corrected list?
You go ahead and hold your breath. I'm enjoying life right now.
JESSE STICKS UP FOR TYRANT
The Sloganmaster has
weighed in on Pat Robertson's call to assassinate Venezuelan President and
communist dictator Hugo Chavez. Jesse Jackson called Robertson's statements
criminal and said that the US government should take action. Oh really?
This points out the
hypocrisy of the Democratic left in this country. First of all, they're all for
freedom of speech...until you say something they don't agree with. Then it
should be banned. Second, it's no surprise that Jesse is right there taking up
for a corrupt tinhorn dictator who, despite what Jimmy Carter says, was not
fairly elected in Venezuela. In addition, the preeminent race warlord said that
the Federal Censorship Commission should take action against Pat Robertson. By
the way, Jesse made these comments while he was actually in Venezuela,
addressing the National Assembly down there. Americans criticizing the United
States when they are on foreign soil is a specialty of the Democratic party, you
know.
More of that free speech,
huh Jesse? We'll have to keep that in mind the next time one of the wackos in
your party calls for the assassination of George Bush again.
CINDY SHEEHAN CORNER
Another day, another
heaping cup of stupidity from the Peace House in Crawford, Texas, courtesy of
that loon Cindy Sheehan.
But this time she has help, courtesy of Mr. Tawana
Brawley himself, Al Sharpton. What does Al want in all this?
Aside from bringing along
his rent-a-mob of fellow race hustlers, Sharpton probably was just looking for
somewhere to sell some cheap Rolexes. However, no need to make you wait
anymore...here are the latest daily statements of nonsense from Crawford:
On the subject of other
moms who have lost their sons, but still support George Bush and the war, Cindy
Sheehan had this to say: "How can these moms who still support George Bush and
his insane war in Iraq want more innocent blood shed just because their sons or
daughters have been killed? I don't understand it."
Well Mrs. (at least until
the divorce is final,) Sheehan, perhaps it is the fact that unlike you, they
don't believe their sons and daughters died for nothing.
Oh well...it doesn't
matter that the vast majority of those who lost family members in the Iraq war
support the president. The media will always cover the ones that don't. More
liberal media bias at work.
WMD FOUND IN IRAQ
The media is fond of
reminding us that no Weapons of Mass Destruction were ever found in Iraq. This
has been the clarion call of the Democrats for a couple of years now. However,
did you know that WMD were found in Iraq? Not just a couple...but lots of
them. A mother who lost her son in Iraq was interviewed on Fox News had this
to say: "I have seen photos of entire fighter jets buried in the sand. I have
seen pictures of entire caches of weapons that just my son's unit would
uncover." I wonder why we never hear much about that one? Here's also a nice
little list of what was found:
-500 tons...that's
right...TONS...make that 1million pounds of yellow cake uranium. It was found
at Saddam's nuclear weapons facility (yup...he had one of those too.)
-1.8 tons of partially
enriched uranium found at the same place. You know, the stuff you need to make
nukes.
-Hidden centrifuge parts
and blueprints.
-Two dozen artillery
shells loaded with Sarin and mustard gas.
Sounds like WMD to me!
You may want to print this off and impress your friends with your knowledge.
REDNECK SCRAP BOOK
Heck, even a redneck might need a computin' device that
speaks his language. More in the
Redneck Scrap Book.

of. A video of a presentation 3 years ago at the Heritage Foundation shows it

terrorists are Muslims.
Today's realization comes from a politician in Norway.
Tony Blair is cracking down on Muslim extremists
in Britain...and right here in his own words, he explains why.
John McCain has corrected Chuck Hagel....Iraq
is nothing like Vietnam. Of course, Bush-hating leftists like Chuck Hagel still
want America to fail in Iraq.
New York Congressman and
renowned race pimp
Charlie Rangel has suggested that Dick Cheney is not healthy enough
to continue in the office of the Vice Presidency. A low blow but you have to
consider the source.
This one should get
people going....T.R.

Keep this one away from your liberal friends.
