UNANSWERED QUESTIONS REMAIN
As week two of the scandal that wasn't continues to unfold, two unanswered questions remain. And except for a few scant reporters, the mainstream media is making absolutely no attempt to answer them. The reason? The answer to those questions would undermine the left's big lie about Karl Rove being the focus of the investigation. The questions are:
1.) Was Valerie Plame a covert agent? The 1982 statute under which anyone who divulged her name would be prosecuted clearly states she must have been in the field in the last 5 years. So far, all the evidence says no. Her husband, Joe Wilson, was confronted with this very question Sunday. He refused to answer. If she was not in the field as an agent in the last 5 years, all of this is a grand waste of time.
2.) Why is Judith Miller sitting in jail? Who is she protecting, and why is the New York Times refusing to give her up? She gathered information for a story she never wrote, and now she's sitting in jail to protect that source. The New York Times is no friend of the Bush administration, so if it was Karl Rove or Scooter Libby, they'd sell them out in a minute. No...Judith Miller is protecting someone else. And nobody knows who it is.
Until we have the answers to those two questions, there's absolutely nothing new about Valerie Plamegate.
TWISTING BUSH'S WORDS
Yesterday, President Bush spoke to the media, and he was asked if he stood by his pledge to fire anyone in his administration who leaked Valerie Plame's name. Here's what he said:
"We have a serious ongoing investigation here. And it's being played out in the press. And I think it's best that people wait until the investigation is complete before you jump to conclusions. And I will do so, as well. I don't know all the facts. I want to know all the facts. The best place for the facts to be done is by somebody who's spending time investigating it. I would like this to end as quickly as possible so we know the facts, and if someone committed a crime, they will no longer work in my administration."
Ah ha! The media immediately ran right out and wrote a bunch of stories accusing Bush of changing his position. To them, it sounded like he wasn't going to fire anyone unless they committed a crime." Ted Kennedy put his pants on long enough to run right out and issue a press release condemning Bush for moving the goal posts. The only problem?
Bush's position hasn't move one bit. On September 30, 2003, when Bush was first asked about the leak, here is what he said: "If there is a leak out of my administration, I want to know who it is. And if the person has violated law, the person will be taken care of." Essentially the same thing.
The mainstream media these days really is slowly graduating from liberal bias to outright political propaganda.
WE HAVE SOME NAMES
Speaking of leaks, a few names of prospective Supreme Court justices have been leaked. The consensus seems to be that with Rehnquist not retiring and with the First Lady expressing a preference for a woman, then a woman it shall be. Two names are being thrown around, both Ediths. They are Edith Jones and Edith Clement, each serving on the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. Browsing their bios online, they seem harmless enough.
But none of that matters. Because the far left and the far right already have their dossier ready to go on probably hundreds of candidates. Whoever it is, outright character assassination will be the order of the day. They'll be criticized for not being pro-Life enough..they'll be called an extremist and criticized for some decision they made a long time ago...it won't matter. All that matters is that George Bush nominated the person, and therefore that person must be defeated.
And what of Attorney General Alberto Gonzales? Initially, it seemed the president would nominate the former Texas Supreme Court Justice. But now that there's only one vacancy, he'll probably stay at the Department of Justice until somebody else throws in their black robe.
Then again, maybe not. We'll know soon.
CARSON MIDDLE SCHOOL CLASS MEETS SGT RICHARDSON

Nearly 1000 residents and visitors gather at the Ritz-Carlton Lodge at Reynolds Plantation in Georgia this past Monday to honor U.S. Marine Zach Richardson and his fellow Marines newly returned from Iraq. The Ritz-Carlton Lodge arranged this event after Sgt. Richardson was ordered off the grounds of a Greensboro, Georgia Middle School two months ago when he attempted, at a teacher's invitation, to visit a class that had written to him in Iraq. Previous discussion. Heather's Corner: Do you ever get burned out on a story and then feel bad about it? I'm talking about just "being over" someone's newsworthy tragedy. Natalee Holloway is a burned out subject but media keeps it going. " Oh, they found an old barrel on the coast of Aruba" "Oh no, not duct tape !" The barrel did not contain her remains and how long can a 4 inch piece of duct tape last through the elements associated with salt water? Better yet, how many Arubians have ever used and disposed of duct tape? At this point they are grasping at straws. Even the volunteers have packed up and gone home. Now, I'm not a heartless person. I have a lot of compassion for the world's youth. I feel terrible for the family and I wish the results would turn up good news. My problem with this case is when is enough, enough? I continue to have sympathy for the family, but the media, who constantly stokes the fires of false hopes, makes me ill. It's easy to say "What about the others ?" What isn't easy to understand is when to put to rest a case in order to allow the family to begin their grieving process. If the media wasn't so persistent in keeping this as a top headline, do you think the family would finally be able to come to grips and allow their lives (which have been on hold for the past 50 days) time to mend? Now that George Bush has said he'll fire anyone convicted of leaking, should he let Karl Rove go? Dick Morris, once fired from a White House himself, says absolutely not...Karl Rove didn't do anything wrong.
If you want an idea of how Democrats look at the judiciary, the Constitution and the will of the people, David Limbaugh says you need look no further than Joe Biden.
Drudge is making a big deal out of the fact that Karl Rove wasn't on the guest list for the state dinner with the Indian Prime Minister yesterday. However, Scooter Libby was...and those lists are no doubt made months in advance. Much ado about nothing.
The Hildabeast is Hispandering....she says the government isn't doing enough to help Hispanics. And the same woman who said she was against illegal immigration now says she'd like to provide illegal immigrant students with college aid. Whatever it takes to get the votes.
Al Gore says his new TV network won't be partisan. Fat chance...that's what he said when he invented the Internet.
The Connecticut homeowners who lost the Kelo vs. New London, Connecticut case are petitioning the Supreme Court to rehear the case. Good luck. Not until we get some new judges on there.
Ebonics is being added to the curriculum at a school district in Southern California. You know, we be learnin' and stuff.
Hard-line Islamic clerics in an Indian village have ordered a woman to marry her rapist. Gotta love that Islamic law...it's always so fair!
Did you know there is plenty of good news out of Iraq...news you never hear about? Here is a nice concise list of the successes the mainstream media doesn't want you to know about.
Dan Rather may be gone, but CBS' liberal bias is stronger than ever. The Media Research Center reports on their coverage of the Karl Rove story.
The results are coming in from the "No Child Left Behind" act, and Thomas Sowell says you shouldn't expect the media to report the truth: it's working. It would seem that Neal Boortz is not universally loved. Morning Sickness: Mother charged with injecting her 22-month-old son with feces. Triathlon athletes insured against Loch Ness Monster bites. Heather's Reading Assignments: EXCLUSIVE: McD's has ridden us of June 11 . Thank God! It was such a terrible calendar day. In other news, they have also declared that you can't work there if you have graduated from... well anywhere. Thanks Jorge for pointing out this super-sized problem! This doctor must have been educated in the government education system and on drugs. Then again... when is whipped cream a restricted substance? Pink soda? All in the name of tolerance? How gay! Steal my roommate's cat and have a beer . Really. More from the Government school system: How to make a prom dress with only duct tape... 25 rolls of it to be exact . Who knew it was such a popular event??? Mom would be proud. Another jackass prank goes wrong. The French can cook, but when it comes to counting... I hope they aren't cooking for four-twenty-ten people. Kennedy and Ryan came to UCF last Fall and talked to us about the dangers of Mercury (Bush's fault ~ vote Kerry, of course), but you can get mercury from ingesting bird droppings too! I got to talk to them during the private press conference before hand, and yes, I came home with some WEIRD stories! (I REALLY wish I could share.) When you gotta go, you gotta go! What I would like to know is did he still have to go while the cop was writing the ticket? |
