9/11 REPORT OUT TODAY
Well, today the 9/11 Commission releases their report. This is the report that has taken months and untold millions of dollars to reach the same conclusion about 9/11 that we had before. We just simply weren't prepared for a terrorist attack inside this country. We were asleep at the switch on September 11, 2001. Let's alert the media.
Politics...more specifically, partisan politics. Don't forget for a minute that it was Democrats that initially pushed this idea of a Commission, and along with the mainstream media forced Bush into going along with it. Once the commission held hearings, it was the partisan liberal Democrats like Richard Ben-Veniste, Jamie Gorelick and Timothy Roemer that carried the water for the DNC and the Kerry campaign in nailing the Bush administration to the wall. Clinton was in office for 8 years before the attacks and Bush 8 1/2 months...but we all know who they were blaming.
Early media reports say that the report will blame neither the Bush or Clinton administrations. There's your primary indication that the report is flawed. Any logical appraisal of Bill Clinton's inaction after the first World Trade Center bombing would lead you to the conclusion that Clinton's failure to act decisively certainly had an affect on later events. Can you just imagine what the left would be saying today if it had been George Bush 41, instead of Bill Clinton, who took no action when offered custody of Osama bin Laden?
Then you have this video that was released to the public. It shows how easily these Islamic terrorists waltzed right through our "airport security." Well here's a newsflash for you....airport security is no better today! Instead of racially profiling Arabs and Muslims and scrutinizing people who look like terrorists, the TSA is strip searching little old ladies. There is nothing in place today that would have stopped the hijackings on September 11th. Here we are three years later, and we're gotten exactly nowhere.
The 575-page report will be for sale in bookstores. Save your money...and your time. A "MUST READ" BOOK FOR YOUR NIGHTSTAND
Are you constantly having to argue with your leftist friends who love to spout the "there was no connection between Saddam Hussein and al Qaeda" line? Here's your ammunition. Stephen F. Hayes has written a concise and hard-hitting book "The Connection. How al Qaeda's Collaboration with Saddam Hussein Has Endangered America." (Harper Collins). Head to Amazon.com and the book will be in your eagerly-awaiting hands by Monday. You simply cannot read this book and then voice a heart-felt opinion that there was no connection between Hussein and al Qaeda. Read it and you'll have all the information you need to cause your leftist, appeasement-oriented Democratic friends sputtering in confusion.
Now ... a word for you Bush-hating Democrats out there. Save your money. Take the $19.95 list price for this book and give it to a homeless person somewhere. You aren't willing to learn. You don't want to know the truth. You're comfortable with your "Bush lied" mantra and you aren't going to let anything, let alone the facts, invade your political comfort zone. You're going to continue to parrot the "there were no WMDs" line, even though those weapons have been found. You'll repeat with your last breath the "Bush stole the election" nonsense, even though every single Florida recount, even the recount conducted by a consortium of leftist newspapers, has shown that Gore lost. Your hatred of George Bush is stronger than your desire to know the truth. Your belief in your own moral and intellectual superiority prohibits any admission that you might have actually been wrong. So ... save the twenty bucks. Use it to take a few fellow-travelers to see Michael Moore's film. I understand that film is being shown in dark rooms. You should feel comfortable there ... safe from the truth. MORE NEWS ON CYNTHIA MCKINNEY
Here's a bit more for you on the first electoral victory by Islamic radicals in the United States since 9/11 ... The victory of the Democrat nut-case Cynthia McKinney in Georgia's 4th Congressional district Democratic primary on Tuesday. On Tuesday night Ms. McKinney had a little celebration for supporters. The media was there to chronicle and report on the event .... including a reporter for our flagship radio station, Atlanta's News-Talk 750 WSB. When Cynthia's bodyguards noticed the female WSB radio reporter in their midst they swung into action. They approached our reporter and physically shoved her toward the exit with the words "Get your WSB ass out of here." Our reporter is still waiting for an apology from Cynthia McKinney, but ... she isn't holding her breath. It goes without saying, of course, that if the bodyguards for a Republican candidate had muscled a reporter out of a public gathering in this manner it would be quite the story. Maybe that's why Cynthia doesn't see the need to apologize. After all, she's a leftist Democrat. The rules of civility just don't apply. IRAQ WAR DEATH TOLL HITS 900
The mainstream media, keeper of the Operation Iraqi Freedom death toll, is running the headline that there have now been 900 U.S. deaths in Iraq since the war began. It's true. Over 900 Americans have died in Iraq. The real headline, though, should be that there have been ONLY 900 American casualties. Remember, the left was telling us that the death toll by this time would likely be somewhere near 10,000 Americans.
The fact of the matter is that for an operation of this size, 900 is a small number. It's obviously not a small number to the 900 families that lost loved ones, but compared to other wars, it's a huge success. We invaded an enormous country, toppled the government and turned it over to an interim government, all within 16 months. Not too shabby, and with only 900 casualties. The point's been made before, but when you compare that 900 to the Korean War's 33,000, Vietnam's 58,000 or World War II's 405,000 American casualties, it pales in comparison. Not even close. Not even in the same ballpark.
Just giving you a little perspective, which you will find sorely lacking in the media.
GREENSPAN PRAISES BUSH TAX CUTS
This will no doubt send the bedwetters into an uproar. Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan said yesterday that Bush's three rounds of tax cuts helped ensure the 2001 recession was mild and brief and have provided critical stimulus to keep the economy on track. In other words, the Bush tax cuts are the engine that have powered today's recovery.
In his testimony before Congress, Democrats tried to get Greenspan to blame the tax cuts for the deficits and to support rescinding them. No go...Greenspan said "I would prefer lower spending and lower taxes and lower deficits." He also put the blame for the budget deficits squarely where they belong: Congress.
Congress authorizes and spends every dollar, and they sure love government spending. Both parties trade votes for our money, and they do it all the time. In fact, the size of the federal government has doubled in the 10 years since Republicans have controlled the House. The Poodle would love to convince you that the government doesn't have enough money....that we need to raise taxes to "pay for" the deficits and the spending. Really, all the government needs to do is stop spending so much money, and everything would be fine.
Now .. if the Bush tax cuts have helped to turn our economy around, just what happens if and when Kerry is elected and he actually makes good on his promise to raise taxes again? What happens when the people who really power our economy suddenly see the Imperial Federal Government taking more and more of their paychecks? For Democrats there are two things that should never be limited. Taxes on the wealthy and government spending.
The Soufflé's campaign must be disappointed...there's nothing here for them to bash Bush with. Better luck next time, boys.
... AND A FEW RANDOM THOUGHTS Islamic thugs have kidnapped six more foreign truck drivers ... from India, Egypt and Kenya ... and have threatened the usual .. beheadings ... unless their countries pull all citizens out of Iraq. For this we give thanks to the leadership of the Philippines. As Donald Rumsfeld said ... "Weakness is provocative." Was that Linda Ronstadt who was kicked out of the Aladdin Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas on Saturday night, or was it Pete Rose. They said it was Linda ... but look at the pictures! Since I switched to the Firefox Mozilla internet browser I have had not one single popup while cruising through the Internet. Not one popup. Not one spyware or adware file. Not one. If I had listened to the Winsome Web Wench when she told me to do this months ago I might have saved myself a spot of trouble. Now we have some GOP organizers apologizing for the bumper sticker which implies that Osama bin Laden would vote for John Kerry. Apologize? Why? Why apologize for the truth? Given the choice Osama would surely go with Kerry. And why not? They share some common goals: The weakening of America, for instance. READING ASSIGNMENTS
Here's an interesting read ... from The New Republic. Anti-war "journalists" are doing their dead-level best right now to make sure that the Joseph Wilson story, that Iraq was not trying to buy uranium from Niger, doesn't unravel. It can't be done. The truth is coming out -- and there goes another of the "Bush lied" chants. Make no mistake, there is a real war going on in the Democratic party between the Clintons and The Poodle's camp. Dick Morris says don't be fooled - the Clintons want Kerry to lose. Now just what have I been telling you? Perhaps the greatest intrigue in this entire election will be just what the Clinton's will do to neuter The Poodle.
Sandy Berger says it was all an honest mistake....Byron York says otherwise, and has more troubling details from Berger's National Archives heist. Then there's this from The Washington Post. It seems that the staff of the National Archives was suspicious of Berger from the get-go. The Kerry campaign says that Berger never told them that he was under suspicion. Believable?
The Washington Post has a hot story today with more about Sandy Berger...and it even includes a sting operation at the National Archives. There will be much more of this story to come, even if the biased media hides it on page 23.
Sandy Berger told the monitor at the National Archives to leave the room while he made phone calls, and took an unusual amount of bathroom breaks. This is getting good.
Clear Channel is suing Howard Stern, accusing him of failing to heed the FCC's indecency rules. Poor Howard..they're suing him for $3 million, which he could probably find in his couch.
Michael Moore is going to address the Congressional Black Caucus. That's a good match...an anti-American moron addressing a bunch of loony tunes, left-wing nutcases. A match made in heaven. Peggy Noonan has some hints for The Poodle's acceptance speech.
Newt Gingrich has an excellent op-ed about why President Bush declined to speak at the NAACP convention.
Every network but one led with the Sandy Berger story on Tuesday....CBS. The Media Research Center is there to recount their carefully crafted spin (bias.)
A lot of so-called "Republicans" want to dump Dick Cheney from the ticket. Ann Coulter says Republicans need to learn to never take advice from their enemies.
There is a simmering feud between the Mayor of Boston and the rest of the Democratic party over the local police union. Robert Novak has the latest.
With all of the distractions today, nobody seems to be reading literature anymore, according to George Will.
Think there's no media bias? Larry Elder has some facts for you, and there's no doubting it.
Thomas Sowell looks at the grand fallacy that men are unfairly paid more than women. Good reading, as always. Do you know a tough guy proud of their manly Dodge? Maybe it's not so manly after all. [thanks Rusty!] How do you think Hillary feels about the choice of Queen for this American vs Russian chess set? Remember that article Terror in the Sky? Don't believe everything you read. |
