THE UN IS PUSHING FOR CONTROL OF THE INTERNET
Yup .. you got it. There is a move afoot to turn the control of the
Internet over to a United Nations agency. You can almost imagine the
arguments. Right now the names and Internet URLs are assigned and
controlled by an American entity. Most of the computing power that drives
the Internet is located in the United States. In a situation like this it
is easy to develop various conspiracy theories pointing to U.S. efforts to keep
undeveloped and developing countries down by denying them full access to the
Internet and manipulating Internet access for the benefit of America's
friends. It doesn't matter whether these claims are true (they're not) or
untrue. It just matters that charges like this resonate with America's
haters around the world.
This move was inevitable. For the most part the Internet knows no
international boundaries. Someone in Croatia can order a book from a
Japanese book store with a few mouse clicks. A villager in Uganda can
voice an opinion on a Hollywood chat line in seconds. These capabilities
are not going to escape those who would like to establish a one-world government
through the UN. In their minds anything with the international reach of
the Internet simply has to be regulated and controlled by the United Nations.
And just how does the UN feel about things such as freedom of speech and
freedom of expression? Just read the United Nations Universal
Declaration of Human Rights. Sure, right there in Article 19 it says
that "Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and
expression." It also says that everyone has the right "to seek,
receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of
frontiers." That sounds pretty good, doesn't it? Even if the UN
did control the Internet we would be assured of our freedom to seek, receive and
impart information, right?
Not so fast. You need to read a little further. Just read Article
29 Section 3. Here, I'll print it for you:
"These rights and freedoms may in no case be exercised contrary to the
purposes and principles of the United Nations."
Do you need me to translate? This section says that your freedom of
speech, your freedom of expression, and your freedom to "seek, receive and
impart information" cannot be exercised if you would interfere with the
"purposes and principles of the United Nations," whatever those
are.
Remember also that the United Nations has recently determined that some forms
of "hate speech" can actually be war crimes. Now ... define
"hate speech." And while you're working on that definition
remember that liberals, the very people who love the United Nations and who feel
that we should turn over our sovereignty to this august organization, would tell
you that the very idea expressed on this web page are "hate
speech."
Yeah ... UN control of the Internet would certainly be something to look
forward too. Not only would web site content end up being censored, but
you could also look for other goodies such as a UN imposed sales tax on all
Internet transactions to fund UN activities around the world .. activities that
usually work against the interests of the United States.
FEELS LIKE THE SUMMER OF 2001
U.S. Security experts are saying that things feel like the summer of 2001 out
there. By this they mean that "chatter" on telephones, activity
on the Internet and other areas of interest to intelligence gatherers appear
similar to that experienced prior to the 2001 attacks. New Al Qaeda videos
have shown up on terrorist-friendly websites that haven't been seen before ..
even videos of the attacks in New York. Some terrorism experts are warning
of a possible attack on a shopping mall. Now if you're looking for a way
to affect the U.S. economy by instilling terror in some folks, hitting a
shopping mall would sure work.
I bring this up for one reason. Just try to remember who it is out
there that is bringing the fight to the Islamofascist terrorists, and remember
who the appeasers out there are who are have nothing but criticism, condemnation
and damnation for the war on terror.
A few weeks ago The Weekly Standard published a brilliant and well-documented
essay detailing intelligence reports which removed any doubt about a connection
between Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden. These intelligence reports
have never been detailed on one single network news broadcast. The
mainstream media ignored them. It's almost as if they were afraid of what
would happen to the leftist agenda if it ever did become clear to most Americans
that the Hussein - bin Laden connection was there!
There are many issues before the American people today. The economy,
education, trade, jobs, taxes, the size of government. There is no issue before
the American people right now more urgent and more important than fighting
Islamic terrorism. At a time like this you should look very hard at
politicians who would place the war against terrorism behind their quest for a
return to power.
HIP HOP
Music isn't dead. It's just hibernating somewhere. "Hip
Hop," whatever in the hell that is, has pretty much captured the latest
Grammy nominations. Wow! I just can't wait until the Grammy awards
television show airs.
Say what you will ... the Hip Hop culture is one of violence, drugs,
predatory sex and disrespect for America. Matt Drudge reports that the
latest "song" from Eminem actually wishes president Bush dead.
Here are some of the words from "We as Americans:"
'F**k money. I don't rap for dead presidents. I'd rather
see the president dead. It's never been said, but I set precedents and the
standards and they can't stand it... We as Americans. Us as a citizen. We've
got to protect ourselves'...
Well isn't that special! Good thing the president that Eminem wishes
dead is a Republican .. George Bush .. or the "music" industry might
actually get upset with this!
INTEMPERATE
THOUGHTS
Has anyone ever seen a more useless and ridiculous Christmas gift than that
stupid Black & Decker vibrating cheese grater? Doesn't everyone want
finger fragments in their cheese? Then there's that jar opener. Are
people really buying these things?
How about a new rule in Iraq. If Islamic terrorists manage to detonate
a bomb and kill some Americans, and if you come to the scene of the bombing to
gloat for the cameras, you get shot.
Blizzards are forecast for the Northeast this weekend. Damned global
warming.
That's all. I'm going to go have a nice breakfast before the show.

Susan Estrich is a fairly sharp Democratic strategist ... and Susan Estrich
says that the politics of hate currently being pursued by the Democrats will
not beat George Bush in 2004.
Here's an update on yesterday's issue regarding eminent domain abuse in
Norfolk, Virginia. It's
looking like Thomas Musick may get to keep his home.
Would you like to host a house party where you will show a video entitled
"Uncovered, the whole truth about the Iraq war"? What fun!
Showing a video provided by an organization with funding ties to a number of
anti-American communist and Islamic groups. Well
... if you're so inclined, here's your link!
And still another installment in Thomas Sowell's series on the
high cost of busybodies.
Charles Krauthammer writes about the "Bush
Derangement Syndrome." This is defined as "the acute
onset of paranoia in otherwise normal people in reaction to the policies, the
presidency -- nay -- the very existence of George W. Bush." Now
you should know that Krauthammer is a psychiatrist, so his discovery of a new
psychiatric malady should get your attention.
