MORE THANKS ...

This time to the Campus Libertarians from the University of Missouri for their invitation to speek on campus Saturday! The campus was beautiful, and the audience very receptive. Thank you so much for the warm welcome!

This beautiful airplane was provided by Epps Aviation at PDK airport in Atlanta. If The Godfather can have a $25 million dollar airplane, you would think I could have a little $3.4 million dollar PC12, wouldn't you? If I could buy any airplane out there ... this would probably be the one!

JUST SO YOU UNDERSTAND WHY

The Democrats will try to filibuster the Medicare bill today .... if, that is, they have the 60 votes they need to pull it off. 

There is much about this bill to not like.  It is strictly a vote-buying grab by politicians.  The Gimme Generation wants their prescription drugs paid for by somebody else, and the politicians know that the Gimme Generation votes.  So .. give the oldsters what they want.  We're told it will be $400 billion over the next ten years .. but there is absolutely nothing in the bill that limits this spending to $400 billion.  It will almost certainly be $600 billion and could easily approach twice the original estimates. 

Let's address the Democrat's threatened filibuster.  There is only one reason the Democrats want this bill to fail, and that is because  it provides for private sector competition with Medicare; not now, but in about six years.  Democrats absolutely hate the idea of private sector competition with any government program.  That is why Democrats have been working so hard to kill a voucher system for the abysmal Washington DC government schools.  Democrats know that with every program government controls comes millions of Americans .. and that means controlling millions of American votes.  The two biggest vote-controlling programs out there are Social Security and Medicare.  For every American that leaves the government operated Medicare program for a private sector option the Democrats see a vote lost.   So ... an attempt at a filibuster.

Remember ... always remember ... Democrats think America is great because of government.  Freedom and economic liberty have nothing to do with it.

WHOOP!  THERE SHE IS!

When the charges were brought against Michael Jackson earlier this week I pointed out that at least we would stop hearing so much about Scott Peterson for a while.  I then wondered what Gloria Allred was going to do?  All this time Gloria has been grabbing face time on television as the attorney for the little blond haystack that Scott was messin' with around the time of his wife's disappearance. 

Well ... wonder no more.  Now that the Scott Peterson matter is on the back burner Gloria has found a way to push herself in front of the cameras in the Michael Jackson situation.  There she is, in all her Gloria, Allred demanding that California child welfare authorities remove Jackson's three children from his custody because of the child molestation charges.

This is just Gloria Allred being Gloria Allred.

For quite a few years in the 1980's I served on the Board of Directors of an organization called The National Association of Radio Talk Show Hosts (NARTSH).  Gloria Allred was one of my fellow board members.  In the NARTSH organization there was a running joke about Allred's endless quest for publicity.  Every year we would present a Freedom of Speech award to an individual, and every year we would plead with Gloria Allred not to make a spectacle of our awards ceremony with some ridiculous demonstration.  Every year Allred would ignore our pleas and find some reason to prance around the awards ceremony waving a sign and shouting some type of slogan.

It just comes naturally, I guess. Allred is a pure publicity hound.  Now if she were a male I could get away with calling her a publicity whore ... but we do have to deal with the demands of political correctness, don't we? Perhaps just publicity bore would do.

AND SPEAKING OF PUBLICITY WHORES ...

Guess who is now trying to weasel himself into the Jesse Jackson case?  Yeah, that pathetic has-been washed-up race warlord Jesse Jackson is speaking out.  He's talking about an "invasion" of Michael Jackson's home, and claiming that the home was "ransacked."  He called the police operation a "seize and destroy" operation.  He even found a way to compare Michael Jackson's situation with that of Rush Limbaugh! 

When is the media just going to let this weary discredited warlord go off somewhere to a well-deserved obscurity?

MAKE US TAX EXEMPT

Did you know that there was an effort afoot to exempt government school teachers from federal income taxes?   Several years ago California's then-governor Grey Davis proposed making California teachers exempt from the state income tax.   Over the past few years there have even been suggestions that teachers nationwide should be exempted from the payment of federal income taxes.  Washington Post columnist Richard Cohen is pushing for his idea of a "Leave no Teacher Behind Act."  He thinks that we can increase the quality of teachers by relieving  them of the responsibility of  paying federal income taxes.  He then suggests that we could even extend the exemption to social workers!

Democrats have been working for years, with no small amount of help from Republicans, to relieve their core constituency of the responsibility for the payment of federal income taxes.  The next step in the process will be to take constituencies loyal to Democrats and just flat-out exempt them.  A good place to start would be the teachers .. teachers represented by the most powerful union in America, the National Education Association.  From that point we can move to social workers who are largely government employees, and then to other government workers.  Just argue that these people are so essential to the smooth and efficient operation of government, they provide such wonderful services to us all, and they just don't make enough money.  We can just give them a raise by eliminating their taxes!

Hey!  Why stop at income taxes!  Why not make them exempt from property taxes too!  And they can all carry little cards that make them exempt from sales taxes!

Give these politicians their way and the entire cost of government in this country will soon be borne by about 15% of the achievers at the top of the economic ladder.  Maybe then Atlas will dump his load.

YEAH, YEAH, YEAH ... THE POLICE ALWAYS OVERREACT, DON'T THEY

Do you remember the violence and destruction that was brought to Seattle, Washington in 1999 when anarchists and assorted anti-capitalists descended on the World Trade Organization meeting?  The city of Miami was determined that the same type of violence and destruction was not going to take place there last week during trade talks.  The police were out in force to prevent the demonstrators from doing what the demonstrators wanted to do ... destroy.

Now the demonstrators are whining.  The naughty police overreacted.   Yeah, yeah.  We've heard that before.  How can you tell when police overreact?  When there are no riots and no destruction of private property, that's how.  In the anarchist's dictionary "police overreaction" is defined as "any action taken by police which prevents protestors from destroying private property and disrupting commerce."

One protestor says she was just standing there confronting the police and waving a peace sign in the face of a police officer when WHAM! she got a club in the puss.  Wish I could have been there to see that.

JUST WHAT IS THE PROBLEM WITH PRE-EMPTIVE WARFARE

One of the principal problems that the appeasement class has with George Bush and his war in Iraq is that it was pre-emptive.  Evidently there is something inherently evil in taking pre-emptive action. 

Before we go any further with this let's sneak a peak at the dictionary.  Pre-emptive, is defined as:

1. Relating to or constituting a military strike made so as to gain the advantage when an enemy strike is believed to be imminent.
    
2. Undertaken or initiated to deter or prevent an anticipated, usually unpleasant situation or occurrence.

Now that you have some definitions to work with, does the idea of a pre-emptive strike sound so horribly outrageous?  If you actually believe that an enemy strike is imminent, is it such a bad idea to strike first?  Or of you think someone will almost certainly do something particularly unpleasant to you at some point in the future, is it so hideously wrong for you to try to neutralize that person's ability to harm you before he acts?

Let's build a little scenario here using that diminutive gargoyle who currently holds sway in North Korea.   Kim Jung Il has a pretty loud mouth; but he also has a powerful military to back up what he says.  The world believes him to be certifiable, and that's not good for the cause of peace and stability.

Here's your scenario:  Kim Jung Il launches a three-stage rocket over Japan all the way to the equator in the middle of the pacific.  At that point the world, and the United States knows that Kim Jung Il has a missile that could reach virtually any portion of the United States.  The little hedgehog then announces that in exactly 60 hours he is going to launch another such missile aimed at Los Angeles, and this missile is going to be carrying a nuclear warhead.

So, what would you "no pre-emptive war" idiots have us do at that point?  Common sense would suggest that we should send out the long-range U.S. bombers to destroy as much of Kim Jung Il's military capability as possible ... especially his nuclear and missile facilities. 

But wait!  That would be a pre-emptive strike, wouldn't it?  We just couldn't do that, could we?  After all ... he hasn't attacked us!  How can we strike at him until he actually attacks us?

Now .. if that isn't enough to make you "no pre-emptive war" whackos hide under your blankets, they you have lost all capabilities for logical thought. But, then ... you're liberals, aren't you.  It goes with the territory.

WE MAY BE COMMUNISTS AND ISLAMIC RADICALS .. BUT DON'T INVESTIGATE US!

The FBI is investigating the backgrounds and organizational methods of antiwar demonstrators in the US. Hopefully that doesn't come as a surprise to you.  It is safe to assume that a large number of these demonstrators are out there in the streets because they want America to fail in its efforts to fight terrorism and its efforts to bring secular representative governments to Iraq and Afghanistan.  Translated:  Many of these demonstrators are pro-Saddam and anti-US.  So, who wouldn't want them investigated by the FBI? 

The demonstrators, that's who.  Now we have so-called "civil rights advocates" and (God help us) "legal scholars" who are saying that these investigations could signal a return to abuses directed against civil rights protestors of the 1960's 70's.

Remember, as you've already learned, the organizers of the demonstrations last week in London were largely anti-American communists and Islamic radicals.  So we're supposed to assume that all of the protestors in the United States are Boy Scouts and volunteers at nursing homes?

Know your enemy .. and keep him close.

MISSILE STRIKE!

Did you see those pictures on television over the weekend?  A ground-to-air missile struck a cargo plane on approach to Baghdad International Airport.  You could see the airplane's wing on fire as it made its approach and landed at the airport.  The crew landed safely and nobody was hurt.

This attack was in Baghdad.  How long before some Islamic goon gets one of those missiles into this country and manages to hit an American airliner departing or arriving at an American airport.  Do you have any idea what that would do to the American economy?  Ask yourself ... if you heard of 200 passengers dying after a missile strikes a commercial airliner, how long would it be before you flew anywhere?  In order for the airlines to remain in business they would have to immediately install devices designed to prevent a missile strike ... at a cost of several million dollars per airplane.  You do know who would bear that cost, don't you?  Hint .. it wouldn't be the airline shareholders. 

So .. why hasn't it happened in this country yet?  Perhaps the main reason is because our president has taken the fight to the Islamic terrorists, instead of waiting for them to bring the fight back to us.  Many of the terrorists who have entered Iraq from Syria, Iran, Egypt and Saudi Arabia to attack American troops there might well be looking for a way to get into the United States to their damage here is they weren't otherwise occupied.  The war against Islamic terrorism must be fought.  We tried appeasement for eight years under Bill Clinton; you see what it brought us.  

Two years ago most of you wouldn't have bet five bucks to win a thousand that we wouldn't have another serious terrorist attack on our own soil by the end of 2003.  Maybe you ought to sit back and give a few minutes thought to why we have thus far avoided that second attack. One reason.  It's because we actually had a president in office on 9/11 who took his responsibility to protect and defend our country seriously ... unlike some previous presidents we could mention.

Today we learn that British intelligence MI-5 is currently tracking suicide bombers in Britain.  How confident are you that some suicide bombers aren't trying to get into the United States right now?  Remember ... our ability to protect ourselves from these goons has been severely compromised in the US because of our absurd and deadly adherence to the principles of political correctness.  Remember .. .no profiling!  Look for weapons, not terrorists. 

Go on ... protest your buns off.  Just remember, on one side we have Americans who realize that, as Churchill said, it is sometimes better to fight when victory is assured ... if you stick to it, that is .... then it is to wait until victory is in doubt but it is better to fight than to live as slaves.  On the other side .. the side of the appease and protest side .. we have the head of the British Communist Party, the head of the London Council of Mosques, and great American heroes like Ted Kennedy, Barbra Streisand and Michael Moore.

EXPLOITING THE 9/11 ATTACKS

The Republican National Committee is running its first television ad of the election season. This ad highlights the successes of Bush's war on terror.  It says that some people are attacking the president for attacking the terrorists.

The ad is correct. Bush has done a good job .. and certainly a much better job than Clinton ... of taking the fight to the terrorists.  And throughout the campaign the Democrats have been slamming and criticizing Bush for his policies.  Weasely Clark is is just one of the Democratic candidates calling for Bush to remove those ads immediately.

Now that the ad is running the Democrats are outraged!  

"How dare the president run an ad citing his accomplishments.  He's just exploiting the 9/11 terrorist attacks against Americans!  Oh, sure .. it's OK if we run advertisements and make statements in opposition to Bush's war in Iraq, because when we do that we're not exploiting 9/11.  But if the Republicans run any ads saying the president is actually doing the right thing then that IS exploiting the terrorist attacks of 9/11 and they should stop it immediately!"

The truly pathetic thing here is the fact that some government-"educated" Americans will hear the Democrat's protests and actually agree with them!  How do these people survive?

First the economy .. now this.  Bush-haters predicted that his trip to Britain would be a disaster.  They were wrong.  As the caddy said to me after I hit a 225 yard five iron to the green:  "Now that ought to silence the critics."

Vigils for a child molester?  Yup, fans around the world are holding candlelight vigils for Michael Jackson.  One 37-year-old Parisian said he (yes, "he") hadn't been able to sleep or eat for three days. Where do nut-cases like this come from?  Oh yeah ... France.

Have we had a president lately who didn't have a family member who managed somehow to embarrass him? We had Billy Carter and Billy Beer, Roger Clinton ... and now Neil Bush?  

How about some light reading for a Monday morning .... Michael Jackson's love letters to his young male friend.

Read where congress is spending some of those oh-so-badly needed anti-terrorism funds.  How about janitorial services, leather jackets, and a politically popular jobs program!

If John Allen Muhammad gets the death penalty you can expect to see him Tango Uniform in about three years.  That's still too damned long.  There's no reason death penalties can't be carried out in 90 says ... tops.

You'll love this one.  Leftist protestors show up for their annual, semi-annual, or whatever protest against a military school at Ft. Benning, Georgia.  They've been doing this for 14 years.  This time the Army had set up loudspeakers about 50 yards away from where the protestors were speaking.  Now the protestors are threatening to sue the Army for launching a "psychological operation" against the protestors.  So ... what was the Army playing over those loudspeakers?

Generation "Y" .. the thankless generation.
