"When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men living together in society, they create for themselves in the course of time a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that justifies it."

This comes from Burt Prelutsky who is a columnist for the LATimes.

"Frankly, I don't know what it is about California , but we seem to have a strange urge to elect really obnoxious women to high office. I'm not bragging, you understand, but no other state, including Maine, even comes close.  When it comes to sending left-wing dingbats to Washington, we're number one. There's no getting around the fact that the last time anyone saw the likes of Barbara Boxer, Dianne Feinstein, and Nancy Pelosi, they were stirring a cauldron when the curtain went up on 'Macbeth'. The three of them are like jackasses who happen to possess the gift of blab. You don't know if you should condemn them for their stupidity or simply marvel at their ability to form words."

What others are saying

  • Sadly, Burt is no longer a humor columnist for the L.A. Times but you can read his columns on BigHollywood. The title of this one is: The New and Improved Iron Curtain.
  • I think this pic is from San Fran and explains a lot.

  • As a witch, I am very offended
As an actual practicing witch (it's a religion, not a holiday) I am offended by the comparison of these 3 numbnuts to true practitioners of witchcraft. What these 3 are Vampires, sucking the life out of California and the United States of America.
  • Lumpy
She has been on a ballot. She ran against Pelosi in 2008 as an independant.
  • I wish Prelutsky would stop that PC Crap
and tell us what he REALLY thinks about Boxer, Feinstein and Pelosi.
  • Prelutsky
In the immortal words of Michael Kelso, "Burn!"
  • Finally!
    Finally someone who "gets it!"

Also, he has the gonads to actually say it in public!

Too bad there aren't more like him. We will just have to suffer through an era of a 1000 little Obamanites on all levels of government controlling our lives
  • No love for Washington?
Mr. Prelutsky obviously hasn't spent much time observing who Washington state sends back to DC.
  • moonbats
    "It could be worse
To their credit the voters of California did not elect Cindy Sheehan.
    By Lumpy @ 02/08/10 12:06:44 PM"

Give them time. She hasn't been on a ballot there yet.
  • Something In The Water
It's not just women either. Don't forget Jerry 'Governor Moonbeam' Brown and Arnold 'The Governator'.

Like a bowl of granola. What ain't fruits and nuts is flakes!
  • It could be worse
To their credit the voters of California did not elect Cindy Sheehan.
  • Dems aren't the only ones...
...with crazy women in CA. Repubs have Carly (I got fired for running HP) Fiorina running against Boxer. Must be something in the water in CA.
  • Stop beating around the bush
I wish Mr. Prelutsky would just come out and tell us what he really thinks! Man up and give us an honest opinion. That's all I ask.

And, by the way, I love watching Macbeth (a/k/a "the Scottish play") so should I be offended on that basis?
Is this an insult to witches or perhaps actresses who play witches?

Oh, and Mr. Strauss, I've heard many worse things said about men in high office, by people of all political persuasions.
  • ROTFLMAO!!!
    "Double, double, toil & trouble;
    Fire burn, and cauldron bubble."
  • Don't hold back Burt!
Tell us how you really feel!

    ROFLOL
  • Wow!
So, what does that say about the people of California?
  • LMAO, that's great!
I saw the curtain go up on the three witches stirrin' the cauldron once, it's a perfect mental image.

Thanks for the coffee spew. I'm forwarding that one.
  • California Political Women
Add Carly Fiorina to that list should she get elected. She would fit right in around that cauldron ... and she says she is a conservative!!!
  • Burt Prelutsky's observation
Just three words: yes, Yes, YES!!!!!
  • These B's are not the only morons, We've got quite a few here in Florida. I can't bare to call them women. They've got no business procreating much less being in any office, pretending to run our country. I am a female and I understand now why the constitution orignally did not allow women to vote. First, they voted, then they voted themslelves in and now our country has gone to hell ever since. I'd hate to give up my right to vote, but I might consider if it would get rid of the other 75% retarded women that do vote. Proud Indian Woman not at all offended by the truth.
  • California dingbats
So the likes of Boxer, Feinstein, and Pelosi all have the gift of gab? What about the b*&%#@es on "The View"? Any one of those wastes of flesh makes the Wicked Witch of the West look like Miss America.
  • As a woman I'm not offended by this comment.
He's not talking about all women just these idiotic ones from California. I feel the same way about them too. Now, had he cast that net wider to include all female politicians, that would be a different story.
  • Cal women pols
I'm not really a hero worshiper but right now this guy Burt ranks up there with Drew Brees (I went to Purdue)
  • Quote
    Don't forget Maxine Waters
  • california pols
    don't forget Maxine Waters
  • Wow
This guy is a pure political nerd. Only an idiot would be concerned in California about politics. Go outside, sit on the beach, go surfing, check out the hot girls. STOP BEING A POLITICAL NERD!
  • I couldn't have said it better myself ...
    "double, double, toil and trouble,
    fire burn and cauldron bubble"
  • Burt Prelutsky's comment
I think he has expressed why our country is not ready for a female president. The hostility toward both Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton is incredible. This just reinforces it, in terms that would not be used against male candidates.
  • Ca women in politics
I don't understand why house Democrats don't get rid of Pelosi. I have met no one who thinks that she is good for anybody or anything.
  • NO MORE JOB FOR YOU!!!!
You think those britches won't make him the subject of a personal vendetta? Anyone want to put odds on how long he keeps his job, start a pool maybe?
