It wasn't but a week ago when Barack Obama told House Republican leaders to "stop trying to frighten the American people."  But that hasn't stopped him from doing that himself.  Here's what Obama told ABC News.  He says, "If we don't pass it, here's the guarantee....your premiums will go up, your employers are going to load up more costs on you ... Potentially they're going to drop your coverage, because they just can't afford an increase of 25 percent, 30 percent in terms of the costs of providing health care to employees each and every year."

So the plan is to send more people to the government for healthcare and then tax the businesses if they don't comply with government regulations?  This, folks, is fear mongering at its finest.  Take a benefit like healthcare and tell people that if this legislation doesn't pass, they are going to lose this benefit.  Unbelievable.

But Barack Obama did get something right.  He noted that the costs of Medicare and Medicaid are on an "unsustainable" trajectory and the "federal government will go bankrupt" if we don't do something about it.  How bad is it looking for the future of your children?

CBO currently projects that federal spending on Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid alone will increase from 11.2 percent of GDP in 2010 to 17.1 percent in 2030. That jump in spending--5.9 percent of GDP over two decades--is larger than the current size of the Social Security program and will be added to the nation's budgetary obligations without any additional funding to pay for it.

Just try and wrap your brains around THAT one.  Now, here's where Obama gets it wrong .. he says that if we don't pass this Democrat healthcare plan, then this is going to lead to the bankruptcy of our nation.  I would like to know how these bills in Congress plan on addresses the entitlement crisis.  From what I have read, both the House and Senate bills actually expand coverage to at least 133% of the poverty level.  Not to mention the fact that both bills cap premiums at a percentage of income for households below 400% of the poverty level.  How many Americans does that affect?  About 127 million people.  That leaves even more of the burden to fall on the evil rich.

In fact, the healthcare bill is going to be very expensive according to the Congressional Budget Office, and that will get worse over time.  Expanding Medicaid coverage would cost about $200 billion annually by 2019 and increase every year thereafter at a rate of about 8%.  But supporters of reform argue that the bill will actually reduce deficits.  This is based on a lot of "fuzzy math" and we all know how that usually works out for the taxpayers.  From the Heritage Foundation:

For starters, both bills assume that Medicare physician fees will be cut by some 20 percent on a continuous basis, even though there is strong bipartisan opposition to such cuts being implemented. Fixing that problem alone would push these bills into the red.

Moreover, the "pay fors" in both bills are heavily weighted toward across-the-board payment rate reductions in the Medicare program for hospitals, nursing homes, home health agencies, and insurers. There is no effort to measure and reward quality care. Consequently, pressure is certain to build against them over time, and Congress has a long history of reversing such payment cuts at the first sign that access and quality are being compromised.

By necessity, any credible plan looking at long-run sustainability must address the rapidly rising costs of the nation's large health entitlement programs--Medicare and Medicaid. But that job could be made impossible if a health care bill locks in legislative changes aimed almost entirely at financing insurance expansion.

Look .. I know you're bored to death with all of the talk of government health care by now.  Sorry about that ... but we're in a very dangerous time.  Right now we know that Medicare and Medicaid are about to force our country into bankruptcy, yet the Democrats are pushing for a new entitlement program that will dwarf these two.  Americans need to remain vigilant.  This has to be stopped.  Free market solutions absolutely must be tried before we go for the government option. 

Think rationally about this.  How in the wide wide world of economics can you tell an insurance company that they must accept every applicant, no matter what preexisting condition they may have, and not have to raise rates to cover the extra costs?  What world are these ACORN Administration people living in?

There has NEVER been a federal entitlement program that did not cost much more than the proponents said it would cost when they were pushing it through congress.  Why do you think this is going to be any different?

    I look at big bang, big crunch, big bang, big crunch - ad infinitum as a timelessly beautiful display of God's love and forgiveness which we cannot begin to truly grasp. Souls (if you believe in their existence) have some sort of mass or energy. Therefore, in lieu of divine intervention, they cannot escape eventual ‘capture’ by black holes’ creating the next singularity before the next big bang. So, back to the singularity we go! Unless (?!?) there is an escape. Perhaps that is another message of The Good Shepherd.

    Then again, I also think Satan (the most powerful CREATED being EVER) has a finite number of "I forgive you's" coming from the Ancient of Days. 70 x 7 means SOMETHING. It has to, dammit. And I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if the parable of the prodigal son is about him specifically. So, take my ramblings with a grain of salt in a beer or two.

    Disclaimer: I ponder this stuff to give myself hope. I am just trying to say there is hope for the DISTANT future to anyone getting scared today. That’s my limited layman’s take on intelligent design/cosmology/something gives a crap about us.

    He fails to mention that many, MANY employers are going to dump insurance completely and pay the fine rather than provide it to their employees because it will be cheaper for them to do this.
    Others will cut back on the number of employees, so unemployment will skyrocket even more.

    It would seem the dems are cutting their throats with this whole debacle. I say they are so confident that they are going to make millions of illegals voting citizens before the next election so that they will never lose another election.

    Eventually when we develope faster than light travel, Earth will be part of some interplanetary government or alliance.

    It's because at this point, the only ways the country can be saved from bankruptcy from social security/medicare/medicaid is for them to be allowed collapse on their own(I kissed the money I’ve been forced to put in them goodbye two decades ago) before that (which would be best, but political suicide), or for a lot of sick and sickly people to die early and cheap.

    That's why the age for breast cancer screenings has already jumped 10 years. When they socialize medicine women won’t even be able to pay for them out of pocket. When you wait until lumps are obvious, it’s usually too late. There’s no need for heroic and expensive treatments, if statistically it’s too late. “Would you like a referral to a euthanasia – oops, end of life counselor?” You’ll save the government so much money they’ll probably cut your family a check of chump change if you take the ‘patriotic option.’ That's only the beginning, and most only know about this premature (It’s only Providence they jumped the gun and gave America this example) increase because everybody loves ta-tas. This sort of thing will permeate the system, and add up to big money.

    The end of the line for their gravy train is probably coming much sooner than forecast. They always assume steady robust economic growth, which won’t happen under their energy and economic policies, and they badly underestimate future program costs. That’s why they’re willing to lose 40 seats to secure control of access to health care. They have to socialize medicine quickly, within the decade. Whatever they pass will almost certainly be expandable administratively to avoid having to vote on it and insulate themselves from responsibility. If there’s a problem, they just blame the administrators.

    Sir Isaac Newton spent more time studying Bible prophecy than he did the sciences. I read that he studied the sciences in order to glorify his God. Google Newton 2060 (he was not a date setter, but that is one SEASON he gleaned from his exhaustive studies). Most of all, fear not. Being born again is a spiritual epiphany for sure, and stunning changes in behavior from those that experience it are evidence thereof (notwithstanding backsliding and continuing to live life as human beings) but I submit that the statement to Nicodemus had deeper meaning. It also means that there is life after death, and that life must be "born" into. When we become sprit and shed our bodies, for lack of His ability to explain it to "feeble" minded people like us, He called that being "born again".

    Technically, stepcousin, Sol is a star in the mid to lower regions of class G. It is not massive enough to go super nova. Most stars of such mass as our sun have a relatively long life span (8-10 billion years) and upon the twilight of that life go nova. Nova is when the sun expands outward and briefly enters the red giant phase. Likely, the surface of this giant will expand close or even past our planet, scouring it of everything on the surface. Finally, Sol will end up as a white dwarf which is a shrunken and massive "dead star" about the size of a small planet.
    Super nova stars typically (it is believed) become black holes after the explosion.

    2012 is surmised to be caused by a massive solar flare (in the movie) much like the movie that came out last year called Knowing. A flare could happen in our lifetime, a nova will not happen till long after humanity has wiped itself from the planet.
