Funny how the Obama administration managed to shift the focus to this jobs summit and away from other less popular topics like healthcare and Afghanistan.

When it comes to government-run healthcare, the latest Rasmussen survey finds that 62% are opposed to a single-payer system and another 12% are undecided.

Polling also shows that young people (18 to 29) like Barack Obama but aren't too thrilled with his policies.

This from a liberal: I'm Stripping The Obama Sticker Off My Car.

Are we beginning to see the beginning of an avalanche in the Democrat party?

Democrats in Congress want to implement a cap-and-tax carbon scheme here in the United States. But check out how that is working out for Denmark.

Here is some great information from the Heartland Institute about union wages and their effect on state taxes.

John Stossel has today's lesson on who creates jobs. A few people in Washington could stand to pay attention.

The California Medical Association, which is the second-largest state medical group in the country, has come out in opposition to the Democrat healthcare plans.

We've been off the subject of healthcare for a little while, but it is worth remembering that healthcare "reform" could make the average American worse off.

Contrary to what you may think, Barack Obama has not received any more threats than other presidents.

A new study found that 40 years of health improvements from the declining numbers of smokers may be undermined because too many Americans are now obese.

Paul McCartney proposed his idea for "Meat-Free Mondays" to the European Parliament on saying that it would help to halt global warming.

The Congressional Black Caucus wants the Obama administration to help minority-owned broadcasters.

A listener found this local news broadcast where The FairTax: The Truth makes a sneak appearance.

MSNBC's Chris Matthews finally apologized for saying that Obama had traveled to an "enemy camp" at West Point to address the nation on the war in Afghanistan. What a jerk

Is Sarah Palin's bus tour really more of a Gulfstream tour?

I bet I can make your mouth hang open like a brook trout. Of course, you might also throw up a little.

  • @3mbw
I think you have captured some of the appropriate letters in your "name" but you should drop all but the m and b and then place them in reverse order as that would effectively describe you.
  • Thanks, Joyce

  • Great post Scarlett
    Hope you stick around.
  • hahahahahahahahaha.................
    SHUTTINDOWN.....heheheheheheheheheh.....nooooo......shesheshesheshe.....
  • Sarah P
@3mbw--I have heard far less laughter than nasty vitriol in Sarah's direction. The liberals aren't tied up in knots over Mike Huckabee or Mitt Romney; they aren't worried about them, evidently. But the genuinely hateful things that I've heard and read in regards to Sarah makes me think that some people are afraid of her, not laughing at her. There are those who want to destroy her, not merely disagree with her.
@t-shirt doctor--I must disagree with your assessment. From her writings and views, I see her as a substantive woman. I don't really foresee her, or any other conservative, being in control of the currently rudderless GOP anytime soon, however.
  • The ex-Mr. Fonda
Tom Hayden is unhappy because President Obama isn't liberal enough. I guess he should just sign a decree banning all Republicans and conservatives from the planet. Think that would make Ol' Tom happy?
  • in nyc..........
the plane boss......the plane......when you hear those words in nyc.......RUN....cuz it don't make a difference what type it is........
  • Palin
Here's my advice for Palin. First, ignore the liberals. Second, start taking serioulsy the concerns conservatives have about some of your statements and those persons you have joined with and have endorsed you.

Then maybe try for a run for the Senate, then perhaps following with a cabinet post in the next Republican administration.

After all this, no one could legitmatly question her experience or creditials. If she wants to be a credible candidate, she needs to stop hanging out on the fringes of the party.
  • donkey or woman
butt - it was supposed to be a woman?

    (oh man.......)
  • PDS
No 3, the posts on that article are very typical of the hatred shown to Palin across the internet. It's more than just viewing her as a threat or stupid, there is something almost psychotic in the comments.

There are plenty of other conservatives they could be attacking for some of the same reasons but they choose to treat her like she is going to come into their homes and eat their first born.

    Those people are sick.
  • Only starting or growing businesses create jobs.
Hussein knows less than nothing about that.

If the Californians are against it, it must be REALLY bad, they’ll try almost anything.

The dp idea of health care ‘reform’ will even make the freeloaders worse off than they are now, abundance from the relatively free market is what gives them their free ride.

The cure for obesity can’t be too far off. Nancy, harry, and hussein will take over food production and distribution then obesity will quickly disappear as people starve. North Korea, cuba, and Zimbabwe have almost completely eliminated obesity.

Paul is dead, that’s just an alien clone. Now I’ll have to eat twice as much meat on Monday to take up their slack. Can I blame him if I become obese?

Are minority owned broadcasters dumber than others and need remedial government help? The cbc shouldn’t stereotype and be so prejudiced against minorities, they are borderline racist/sexist (how are females a both the majority sex, and a minority, btw?).

It’s nice to know what’s in chris matthews’ beady little brain these days, but I had him figured in the ‘90s. Do you believe him when he says he supports “the enemy camp,” I mean the Troops? Him, olbie, and madcow should have a show together instead of wasting most of the night.

It’s the dp that finds civil aviation distasteful, especially jets (except theirs, of course). There’s a vicious rumor going round that you can hit more cities and towns in less time if you swap your bus for a small jet. I don’t know why anybody would want to do that on a book or speaking tour. I bet the extra money Palin brings in pays for the Jet and then some. I hate it when people are counterproductive just for appearances.

Hey, there I am! What a stud! Where are all those hot classy Phillies when I go to WalMart?
  • That was probably the main purpose, diversion, it sure wasn’t to create jobs.
That, and to fool the slow into thinking he’s doing something.

65% of people see the noose the dp is holding or smell the slaughterhouse they are being led to, take your pick.

Sounds like a lot of young people have been lobotomized and are incapable of making associations between hussein and his policies.

A liberal is making room for the next politician to sucker him/her. I wish they would leave them on, so I know who to keep an eye on in traffic (their driving decisions aren’t likely to be much better).

What did the people who voted for democrat politicians and are now disappointed because they are getting socialism rammed down their throats should burn their voter registration and stick with voting on American idol. What did they expect?

Like socialism, as far as the dp is concerned, cap and trade hasn’t failed until it has failed here (and they won’t even admit it then).
  • if you had a choice.....................
SHUTTINDOWN.............if you got to choose......between the donkey or the woman.......which would you want to be??????
  • shifted focus????????
well it was eazy to divert attention of most amerikans.......they're dumbasses.....

the attention span of a grapefru......ooooooow pretty..........
  • Airplane Wrong
The Palin plane is a King Air, not a Gulfstream.
  • @Scarlett
"I think the rabid hatred for Sarah Palin is because the lefties view her as an effective conservative."

When will you conservatives get it? We don't hate Sarah Palin, we're laughing at her. She is s joke and it's even more hilarious to see conservatives wanting to nominate her. I say go ahead, Obama will trounce her in the 2012 general election.
  • Ain't a Gulfstream
The plane Palin arrives in is a King Air. Can't believe Neal missed that one.
  • Totally off topic but here goes anyway....
I want to personally thank our Web Wench (aka "WW") for the poll yesterday where we got to vent about what makes us mad. It really felt good to vent, and Fred was so sweet to me even so, and get cooled down for the weekend. I'd like to ask the WW to consider doing the vents more often or even weekly. I'm totally cool in NC and no, its not cause we expect snow up here in the mtns tomorrow. :) Lack of traffic helps a lot though...
  • Tiger Woods
I think Neal is missing the point on this one. Yes, his marrital relationship has no effect on our lives. However, from a marketing perspective, the Tiger Woods brand has been damaged. Tiger has been promoted as an uber-gentlemen and has also been actively involved with children's charities as a positive role-model.
There are commercials out there with little kids saying, "I am Tiger Woods". So, in that respect, Tiger has done a disservice to those who looks up to him.
However, I do agree that our society is way too interested in the lives of celebrities, and many Americans just want to tear down those who are successful because of jealousy and envy.
But, I also think our society's acceptance of immoral behavior, like cheating on your spouse, is also a point of concern.
  • Sticker pulled.....
Tom Hayden is pulling the sticker because Obama is not liberal enough!
  • Sarah Palin
Excuse me, but what difference does it make what means of transportation Sarah Plain uses to get through her book tour? The taxpayers aren't paying for it! And she doesn't profess to be an environmentalist. In fact, she's the one who wants us to tap the vast energy resources that the State of Alaska offers. So if her publisher or some wealthy friends of hers believe it is economically advantageous to fly her around on private planes, what is it to you? Do you honestly believe ALGORE travels around in a SmartCar?
  • Scarlett
maybe people don't like her because she's form over substance. and will quote here:

...the persona is the policy. Palin is beloved because she’s (supposedly) just like ordinary people, which (supposedly) gives her a profound understanding of their needs.

That attitude used to be associated with the left, which claimed to speak for the ordinary folks who get shafted by the system. Logic and evidence about policy, to many liberals, were less important than empathy and good intentions. Now it’s conservatives who think we should be guided by our guts, not our brains.

Palin is the embodiment of this approach, never imagining that knowledge and reflection might be of more value than instinct.
    *****

but i'm with you. i want sarah to get so in control of the republican party, that they'll never get the strength to crawl out of the grave they've dug for themselves
  • Meat Free Mondays
Didn't the Catholics try that for centuries with their Meat-free Fridays? How'd that work out for the planet? Or maybe, we can blame the Catholic church, since they cancelled meat-free-Fridays in the 60's and the planet has been warming ever since! Is there no end to the idiocy of the left?
  • Palin's "Gulfstream"
One of the other posters already mentioned it, but just look at the pictures of the planes in the article, a Gulfstream II has jet engines on the empennage, not propellers in front of the wing. Morons.
  • @ Joyce
I think the rabid hatred for Sarah Palin is because the lefties view her as an effective conservative. Anyone who is successful about getting out the conservative message (Reagan, Newt back in the 90s, et.al.) has/had a large number of arrows shot at them. They have one of two labels flung at them: stupid or evil. Right now, they're trying the "stupid" label. If that doesn't stick, they'll no doubt try the "evil" label. If that doesn't stick, they'll bring out the one they only use occasionally: "stupid AND evil." Obviously, Sarah's doing something right!
  • Palin Plane
Oh My GAWD! Sarah Palin actually uses a plane to make appearances all across the country?! I bet she didn't even have her personalized version of a presidential seal sewn into the leather seats! How tacky!
It's the stories like this that make me like Sarah more and more. If your worst criticisms are hypocrisy (like that a traveling celebrity MIGHT use a plane to help tighten up the schedule) and lies (the book banning and abstinence only education, for examples), then you really don't have much on the lady.
The bigger question is why Neal likes republishing this kind of garbage on his site from time to time. Must be out of embarrassment and to deflect from his ongoing support of the man who never saw a crime heinous enough to not grant clemency, that RINO with a preacher's grin, Mike Huckabee. Hey, I love the FairTax, too, but unfortunately it's not going to make Huckabee a better candidate. Come on Neal, what gives?! Just tell us where you stand so we can debate that.... I have a feeling you're not ready to defend your unmitigated support of Huckabee and your thinly-veiled contempt for Palin. Time to take a stand, sir!
  • Replace the Democrats with WHAT?!?!
Vote out the incumbents - no matter if they're Democrat or Republican or Fink!

    DRIP! (Don't Re-elect Incumbent Politicians)

    Butt's right!
  • avalanche in the democratic party?
i hope so. just as much as i want to see beheadings in the republican party.

    Conservatives Want Republican Purge Trials

Across the land, grindstones sing as axes are sharpened for the RINOs.

  • Michael, what an idiot
Yeah Michael, I am sure Paul McCartney is worried about you not listening to his music. hahahahaha. He is the best and his concert at Piedmont Park was the best concert I have ever seen. You probably havent even made it out of your trailer park or your town of 200 people
  • PDS - is that part of the liberal mental illness?
I don't get it, why all this deep hatred for Palin? She's not my choice for office, but there is no reason to loathe her and be obsessive about her like these morons. Get a life people!
  • Sarah Palin's Tour
The comments in the page about Sarah Palin's tour are hilarious. I never heard of that website, but I don't think I ever saw such a collection of idiots before. :)
  • Forcing Cap-and-Trade down are throats?
Global warming has already been shown to be a big hoax, serving no other purpose except to enrich the likes of millionaire big time polluters such as Al Gore. And just like with TARP, the government is choosing to hurt the taxpayers by forcing this Cap-and-trade "carbon credits" nonsense down our throats while the world deals with record cold temperatures.

Why doesn't the government place its efforts into convincing nations such as China to clean up. Why doesn't our government do proactive steps such as subsidize solar panels, tax excessive packaging, junk mail, and newspapers? Why can't we drill more in this country? Why can't we build more nuclear power plants? Why can't we have deposits on bottles, cans, plastic jugs etc. There are many things that can be done besides taxing, overtaxed people and businesses and force them to buy idiotic carbon credits. Like TARP, cap-and-trade is nothing more than a massive tax that does nothing except hurt the average taxpayer.
  • Paul McCartney
Here's one for you, Sir Paul? I'm gonna have a McCartney free LIFE! Maybe by me not listening to 'Silly Love Songs' and 'Band on the Run' will somehow cool the planet!
  • Gulfstream?
Neal, you of all people should know that plane is NOT a Gulfstream! According to the link, it's a 1984 Beech 300.
  • chris matthews & msnbc
I guess it's time to fess up to you guys and tell you ... I watch a lot of msnbc and may be addicted.
    Let me explain:
I find chris, keith, and rachel to be fascinating characters, in much the same way I was mesmerized by that donkey show in TJ (many years ago, okay?)
    It's sick, it's disgusting, it's depraved - yet I can't look away.

Don't even think about an intervention - I don't believe in them...just pray for my soul...

    Yours:
"The Afghanistan Escalation Is Just The Last In A Series Of Disappointments"
    to mine:
"The Afghanistan Escalation Is Just ANOTHER In WHAT WILL BE A LONG LONG Series Of Disappointments"

I hope obama keeps on letting you bastards down like this while he's dry-f***ing the rest of the country, you miserable liberal anti-military anti-America hack.
Brings SUCH a warmth to my heart knowing he has pissed you off - and it's Friday to boot. It just doesn't get any better...
  • "This from a liberal: I'm Stripping The Obama Sticker Off My Car.
Are we beginning to see the beginning of an avalanche in the Democrat party?"

I think these are two examples of the Obama train derailing fast. The GOP has a great opportunity to make major gains in 2010 and win the White House in 2012 if we can get some leadership and get the party back on track.

I just finished a blog post about the GOP Purity test and who it should actually eliminate and a comment on a poll claiming Rush Limbaugh as the most influential conservative. I invite all to drop by http://eastcoastrep.wordpress.com/
