California Democrat Senator Barbara Boxer is and has been a loon. But ... that's California for you. Boxer is a big proponent of the man-made global warming hoax, and she's not one bit happy that some hackers have exposed this active fraud. So ... in the world of Barbara Boxer, what do you do? Do you demand an investigation into those emails to see if these scientists were engaged in an attempt to defraud? Why no! Of course not! If you're Barbara Boxer you want to punish the person who exposed this fraud, not the fraudsters themselves. So Boxer wants to treat the hackers of the Climategate emails as criminals.

Boxer belongs to California ... but she's the Nation's problem.

What others are saying

  • @Glados
    Just as you say...

Is Ms Boxer also going to go after that couple who illegally recorded Newt Gingrich's cell phone conversations?

Those people WERE lauded as heroes by the libs and the MSM.

What a worthless bunch of people!
  • Ellsberg
Is Ms. Boxer also intent on putting Daniel Ellsberg in prison? If not, she is a hypocrite.
  • JCooper & Steve
    On the SCUMSUCKERS Scale

    Barbara Boxer = 10
    Alan Grayson = 10
    By J Cooper

LOL!!!!! Do we have to be limited to 10?

Steve, it was a law broken in Britain, not here. None of our business. Plus I put this on the scale of prosecuting the two ACORN whistleblowers.
  • Watergate
I wonder where Ms. Boxer stood on the Pentagon Papers and the whole Watergate leak saga.

Dare I say she worried little about it.
  • Barbara Boxer
I think that what they did is great and useful,; but, isn't also illegal? I mean, politics to the side, are we or are we not a Nation of laws? If we are, we can't exclude an action committed for any reason, good or bad, if it is illegal.
  • @D from Cal @ 12/03/09 10:14:22 AM
Hey D,work on that for us,I can't do nothin from Florida. I've got my own scumsuckers to deal with.(Alan Grayson)

    On the SCUMSUCKERS Scale

    Barbara Boxer = 10
    Alan Grayson = 10
  • boxer
    Loonitic dumb farking koont.
  • Hackers
The hackers are apparently in Russia. Who's going to arrest them?
  • Not a hacker
The latest word on the sites run by global warming skeptics is that the data was placed on a server open to the public. There's speculation that it was being gathered in case a Freedom of Information claim couldn't be rejected. Regardless, no hacking is required to access data on a public server nor is it against the law to download that data.

As a sideline, does Boxer know that U.S. law has no jurisdiction over the CRU, which is in Britain?
  • whistleblower
I'm not a lawyer and I have no idea whose jurisdiction any of these alleged "crimes" were commited. But, wouldn't whistleblower protections apply in some aspect or form for these hackers. Especially if fraud is shown to have occured. These institutions are getting an awful lot of grant money to be completely free of any oversite.
  • The Centaur Baaa Ba Box-her
Have Californians no shame or is this the best that you have?
  • was bush involved???????????????
I can clear this up real eazy.......that guy that invented the wheel.......well he is related to bush.........so it's________'s fault...

and who's runnin' 'round 'xposin' themse'f........
  • Punish the Hackers?
Unfortunately this is the result of the government having too much power and control of it's people. We are expected to believe their Global Warming BS, allow them to steal our money in the form of taxation, alter our lifestyles and give more power to the government and all because the government can invent some bogus crisis backed by phony science.

The only way to fight this tyrannical government will be to hack into computers and publish the evidence, spy, arm yourself etc. The government has earned it's reputation of being untrustworthy, corrupt, immoral and unrestrained. These guys fought back in the only way they could. The government lies and must be stopped.

These e-mails were made by folks paid using tax-payer money, SHOULD have been made public in the first place. The government has no business hiding info from it's citizens and citizens should have access to all this data and correspondence. Boxer needs to try herself for conspiracy against the US citizens.
  • remembering
Isn't Ma'am Boxer related (by marriage, IIRC) to the goreacle?
  • I was wondering what took so long
In fact, I expected the liberals to be howling for the blood of these hackers for making their attempts to hoodwink the world (via man-made global warming) that much more difficult. And I expected it immediately.
However, it seems obvious that the reasons they did not were to let this thing die a quiet death.
"If we do not make a big fuss," thought the collective liberal hivemind, "this fraud incident will blow over (with a little help from Tiger) and we can go back to convincing the world SUVs are the true evil."
But it did not pass and now the left are trying to shift blame from a worldwide hoax to those hackers who exposed another crack in the foundation of said hoax.
    *
Does anybody else think these hackers would be lauded as folk heroes had they uncovered some conspiracy hatched by the GOP, or was in anyway aberrant from the liberal agenda?
  • The emails are nothing
The real farce here is that the scientists have no original data because they threw it out. No one can check their work without the original data. The CRU has said there is no record of what stations comprise the dataset. There is no record of how they arrived at the current data set. So it isn't science. Science is about publishing all the data you started with and your methods then daring other scientists to replicate your results. But this cannot happen now because the dog ate their data.
  • B Box
Nothing would make this Cal resident happier then to see B Boxer lose her "earned" title in the next election.
  • Jurisdiction
Given this occurred in East Anglia, England, and that there is an excellent chance the perpetrators are scattered across the globe, and certainly will never be identified, her entire rant is most certainly moot.
  • Sorry, they Are criminals.
I think BOTH need to be investigated. It is great that they got the info and we know about it. but they broke the law. now, lets investigate the scientists.. the data, AND the hackers.... sorry, no one is above the law.
  • Messenger
I suspect that the "illegal hacker" was actually a whistleblower and entitled to Federal protection. How 'bout that, Ms Boxer? And let's remember Daniel Ellsberg, who leaked classified documents that were printed in toto in the NYT, to great liberal applause. "Where you stand depends on where you sit."
  • Criminal Charges
The hackers should go to jail. They illegally hacked someones inetellectual property.
  • Boxer is absolutely right!
I agree with Boxer! These Hackers should be subjected to the full action of the rule of law. If they committed a crime, they should be tried and convicted of such. The only thing that might be different in this case is sentencing. Were I the judge, I would sentence these hackers, upon conviction, to a year of confinement in Las Vegas' Bellagio Resort Hotel's Presidential Suite, with nothing but finest meats, fruits, vegetables, and cheeses to eat, and microbrews and Mountain Dew, and $500 daily chips for play and free rides to the "Intimate Entertainment" venue of their choice, where any "service package" would be granted free of charge.

How awesome would it be to be able to respond to that question on job apps:
"Ever been convicted of a crime?"
--YES! I exposed the fraud of global warming researchers, and saved the world TRILLIONS of dollars in useless spending by hacking into the CRU networks.
  • The one?
Wasn't she the one who also demanded to a general not to address her as ma'am?
We can only hope that Carly Fiorina wins her seat in November.
How much more idiocy can we take?
  • Who Elects these Hacks?
I keep asking myself, what kind of nutjob elects idiots like Boxer and Pelosi? Who wants to be represented by people perpetuating this evil blend of fascism and socialism? Who elects people that see the Constitution as an annoyance? WHO? Our government is OUT OF CONTROL and it is LYING to us.
  • Global Warming
This global warming stuff is stupid. If it wasn't for global warming we would still be in the ice age. Maybe the campfires of the cavemen doomed the ice age. Anyhow anyone with any sense knows global warming is caused by all the hot air coming out of Washington DC.
  • Boxer
Any one know her position on the hacking of Shara Palins E-mails?
  • Boxer
She's nuts, but she has a job for life in Commifornia.
  • Twit
This twit is just trying to pull a diversionary tactic to get the lamestream media take the bait and drop any coverage of the Klimate Koolaid fraud.

Can this woman be any more transparent than she is now?
  • It is a crime
See all the 15 year olds that hacked into the government and whether or not that was a crime or not. They exposed a fraud which is good but that doesnt mean they should be treated in any other way than criminals.
  • Go Ahead, Boxer
Boxer's desire to punish the hacker who exposed this conspiracy is just more proof that the truth hurts. Let her talk it up.
