Harry Reid has some gonads. He is accusing the Republicans of not having any healthcare plans, when he himself technically does not have a completed healthcare bill to show the world. Last week, he sent off pieces of healthcare legislation for a CBO cost analysis. So the Republicans said they wanted to see the bill that he sent to the CBO. Well the truth of the matter is that this bill hasn't even been written yet. He is waiting for the CBO analysis to come back in order to decide which direction he wants to take. Then he took a shot at the Republicans for daring to request to see this elusive bill he submitted to the CBO. Reid said that the GOP health care plan "remains a secret, unless perhaps it does not exist." He goes on to say, "I fully understand if your plan is still under development, and would not presume to suggest that you publicly share draft legislative text for even an individual element of your plan, let alone an entire bill, before it is finalized."

Unfortunately for Harry Reid, the Republicans do have healthcare bills. Three of them. And they have been on the table since May and June of this year. CNSNews has the list:

In May, Republicans in the House and the Senate formed a bicameral coalition to produce the130-page "Patients Choice Act of 2009."

In June, Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) introduced the "Health Care Freedom Plan," a 41-page proposal.

And in July, the Republican Study Committee, under the leadership of Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.), unveiled the "Empowering Patients First Act," a 130-page plan.

Harry Reid is desperate. So are his Democrat friends. They know that they are losing this battle to get their healthcare plans passed. So now they are complaining that the other side doesn't even have a plan. Shouldn't we be thanking these Democrats! Oh we should be so thankful ... at least THEY have come up with plans to take over 18% of our economy!

What others are saying

  • @Truth Ignorer
Ha, you wouldn't know a lie if it came up behind you and gave you a wedgie.

For someone who likes to call himself "Truthseeker" you seem to ignore it mostly, while believing every bill of goods the politicians in power sell you as gospel truth.

Really, in fact, for ALL you dolts out there that think the politicians in power care about you and that this healthcare bill is a good thing... you are all SUCKERS.

Well, ok, not all of you... for the moochers and deadbeats I suppose it will be a good thing, since they won't be paying for it and don't care about how craptastic it is.
  • @Brian Fantana -Oh mon Dieu!!!
You finally understand what the conservatives have been saying. Yes it is that simple, all the perceived health care "crisis" not only can be solved but it will be very efficient and effective if done within the private sector. No need for another gov't bureaucracy or should I say bureaucracies. Here are few suggestion, allowed purchase of health insurance nationwide, allow insurance companies to create a high risk pool that is subsidized by low risk pool or the gov't, decrease the income limitation for Medicaid, or allow those who do not want private insurance to be have access to Medicaid for catastrophic illness at a fraction of what it would cost on private insurance (only have access for catastrophic illness) or allow people to tailor their private insurance coverage according to their need, age, etc...

Brian, your response today gives me hope!
  • paper stock????
4 reams of paper???? or is it rhems?
  • Could harry make his absurd claims without the msm giving him cover?
Nope. If a GOP Senate poohbah made such an absurd claim publicly one or more reporters there would have copies of the three on hand to follow up on.
  • 1900 pages isn't REALLY all that big
...after all, its only 1/8 the size of our tax code.

    :-)
  • No one knows about the Republican bills
There may be fabulous bills that the Republicans have drafted, but we don't know anything about them. Why? Well, they get plenty of time on all stations, especially Fox, but none of them are discussing the bill. You don't see Republicans going on Hannity to talk about their propositions, or really any other host for that matter. Any chance a Republican gets to be on TV or radio, they use that time to bash Democrats and attack Obama. Instead of trying to win people over with ideas, they try to win by destroying the other party which represents more than half of America. This is a tragically failed tactic and a pitiful waste of the airtime they are given each day. They need to come out and offer alternatives instead of just criticism, insults, and scare tactics.

Intelligent Americans need to weigh ideas against other ideas. Instead, we're made to weigh bad ideas against scary bumper-sticker sound bite slogans like ObamaCare and PelosiCare.

    Where's the beef?
  • Pat Daly
    Thank you!!!!

TruthIgnorer, we are awaiting your response. Oh and before you start with the whole "death panel" crap, go view this video: http://libertarianwoman.blogspot.com/2009/10/death-panels-who-really-began-that.html
  • Liar Reed
Are you kidding?? Harry Reid telling a lie??? Say it ain't so and how come the republicans can introduce legislation in under 150 pages while the dems have to use over 1,000??? And I thought they were concerned about the environment..
  • @TruthSeeker
True! For years, Boortz was content to tell us Bush did not lie about WMD in Iraq because he believed there were at the time, despite having no knowledge of what Bush knew at the time. This was Boortz' way of sidestepping the real issue at hand: was it a mistake to be there and should we continue?

Yet somehow Reid passes Boortz' very liberal definition of liar immediately.
  • Truth Seeker sez.....................
"There are Republican lies, and then there are Democrat lies
If you took all the lies that Republicans have said about the Democrat's health care proposals, you could fill the Manhattan phone book.

But, since they were Republican lies, they apparently don't count."

Truth Seeker, could you document the Republican lies?

Your position has been posted millions of times, and millions of times we have given you the page in the bill that shows you to be a liar.

You may not have been a liar the first time you posted it, but since you persist, you become as big of a liar as Reid.
  • Democratic Health Care - more expensive, less access
If you BELIEVE that your health care will be less expensive, your taxes will NOT go up, and you can get into see your doctor with ease, then I have swamp property for sale in Florida! Who's buying?

Anybody who actually believes this 1,900 page pile of horse dung should be taken out and whipped with a copy of the US Constitution.

Let's forget the fact that the FEDS are now telling you by LAW that you MUST purchase a product. These clowns in Congress are also telling you that you taxes will not go up and they will magically FIND cost savings in MEDICARE? Like there’ve been known to be Savings Fairies in the hallowed hall of Congress!

Fix tort reform. Allow insurance companies to compete across state lines. Allow co-ops insurance companies, open up nursing practices to allow nurses to give prescriptions and run low cost centers. Make insurance portable when you change jobs.

Get the hell out of my pocket and create an atmosphere where business and industry wants to expand and create jobs. Then shut up, sit down and get the hell out of the way!

Harry Reid is a moron and very, very soon, he will be sitting in Nevada watching the sun rise all by his lonesome.
  • Telling a big enough lie...
If you tell a big enough lie often enough, people will believe it. Especially when the MSM WILL NOT report both sides. So Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi know that they can say whatever they want about the Republicans and the MSM will only report what they SAY. They will not report the truth. And the sheeple of the United States will believe what they hear in the Reid /Pelosi soundbite and will repeat it to THEIR friends. Basically owning the media is a good thing, right?
  • Yet?
Is Nov 2010 here yet? This guy is getting tiring...
  • Re: Randy Yeah, Harry's A Liar, & “ How hard is it to at least step to the Senate or House floor and make their healthcare proposals a matter of record? “
What makes you think they haven't?

Could it be the Statist's near monopoly over the 'media'?
  • There are Republican lies, and then there are Democrat lies
If you took all the lies that Republicans have said about the Democrat's health care proposals, you could fill the Manhattan phone book.

But, since they were Republican lies, they apparently don't count.
  • liar??????
    hairy reed a liar???????

    and your point is.........
  • Links
The Empowering Patients First Act and Patient Choice Act of 2009 links are not working.
  • I KNOW!
    Brian are you okay buddy?
  • So Harry Reid is a liar
    What's your point?
  • the best plan is no plan....
this national feeding frenzy going on right now about healthcare is ridiculous. it wasn't much of an issue until the dems pushed it front and center and now everyone is expected to come up with "a plan". I think the best plan right now is no plan. they should shelve this trillion dollar monster and concentrate on paying the bills we have already incurred.
Asphalt Ranger...BF is still a creep.
  • OMG - The End Is Near
Fantana posted a reasonable comment! You might not agree with him, but I bet most if not all of us have thought we could write better bills about health care. And it wouldn't be difficult since we wouldn't be pandering to our favored interest groups and we wouldn't be looking to increase our power base. 1990 PAGES!! You don't need anywhere near that many pages if what you truly want is to lower the cost of healthcare.
  • They all suck
This is so simple I cannot believe it. I could have written this plan in less than a week w/o proper training. All they need to do is make an affordable option for people who cannot afford healthcare or for people who are uninsurable like what Texas has but cheaper. Anything that is more than that is just pork
  • Yeah, Harry's A Liar, But....
I blame the republicans, and no one else, for the fact that their healthcare proposals have not received any coverage. How hard is it to at least step to the Senate or House floor and make their healthcare proposals a matter of record? Sheesh, what wimpy weenies the GOP are.
  • Too few pages
He probably thinks those are summaries. Reid gotta go.
