If this doesn't bring tears to your eyes, you have no heart. Gracie the dog greets her dad just back from Afghanistan.

Can you take some more? There's a whole collection of 'em. Aren't dogs great?

What others are saying

  • great video and cats
Of course my cat is happy to see me, even if I've only been out the door for a few minutes...he purrs his butt off and makes figure 8's between my feet and flops over in the floor so I can rub his tummy....
  • Hooyah
    Hooyah brother, and welcome home!

Tom--> As a service member myself, I'd like to strip you from your family for 6 months or more with limited contact to go and serve your country. After you see that the "simple" things in life aren't so easy to come by over there, let's see how you react when you get home and see your pet. Only problem is, a half-wit like you probably wouldn't make it alive out of Basic, so you would never get to experience something so hard, yet honorable. Do yourself a favor and think before you have a bout of verbal diarrhea, and enjoy your fluffy life. People like us will make sure it's still there for you tomorrow morning.
  • Maybe I'm just a big ol' sap,
But that was the nicest video I've seen in a long time. Welcome home.
  • Dog Homecoming
    Neil,
You get it. Thanks for the video and and the links
  • 2 of the most loyal beings on the planet
The American Soldier and his Dog. God Bless them both!!!
  • My dog
acts like that everyday I come home. Never really appreciated it until now. Makes me feel like a cad.
  • dogs
"May I always be the type of person my dog thinks I am."
  • Dogs
I agree with Micah. I've had dogs my whole life. I get that greeting every time I come home from work; or if I just walk out to the car and come back in!
  • welcome home!
god bless you for your service! to all troops and loyal americans(dogs and cats of coarse).
  • @ CowboyUp @ 11/17/09 12:26:37 PM
Yes I've seen that. In the deep south,we call that CATDOG!!!
  • @Tom, yes...
    @Tom-

Yes, your suspicions are confirmed - you are heartless.

If you don't see the value in the video, whether it be the young warrior's return home from his sacrifice or his dog's unconditional love, then you sir are dead inside.
  • Hey Rockhound, my cat thinks she's a dog.
She turns her nose up at solid white albacore or wet food and only eats dry dog food (other than what she kills). When me and the mutt go for a walk, she comes along with us. She was living in a yard full of dogs before I got her. Her and the pup are like siblings.

I think she'd still eat me if I died, my mutt would starve first. That's loyalty and love.
  • Mine thought I was gone forever, quit eating, and died in a month.
Talk about a guilt trip. I can tell my second pup, I got 2 years after I got out of the Army, is the same way. She's 16.5 years now, and I've never been able to leave her more than a week without the dog sitter calling me home.

She used to cry/bark/howl, wag her whole butt, and do backflips, before she got too old, when I got home from work, and she's a pretty big mutt. Now she just cry/bark/howls. I've always worked long hours, so of course she's spoiled rotten. She minds better than most, once I use the "that's enough," voice, and she's smarter than some people.

    Thanks for that.
  • endearing
My girlfriend gets that way when I neglect her. It's very sweet.
  • Dog happy Daddy'
    Oh yes I cried....
  • Great!!!
Thanks for posting this. It was great!
  • Dogs are like little kids
Dogs are like little kids. They want to be near you, please you, play with you, and pine for you when you are not there.

Cats are like teenagers. They are aloof, shy, and only seek attention by interrupting what ever you are doing.

I will argue that cats do miss their owners and show a very loving affection when reunited. BUT....never as with the joy that a dog will show every day.

God Bless our Soldiers, may we ALL learn a lesson from the dog to show them the thanks and appreciation they have EARNED!
  • good rule of thumb
Never fall into the trap of believing that you are as wonderful as your dog thinks you are.
  • No tissue needed
My dog does this evryday when I get home from work. Move along people, nothing to see here.....
  • Dogs
When I left for Bosnia we had only had our dog a year. My wife wasn't sure he'd remember me after six months but when he saw me he went nuts. We still have him - he's 15 now. Every time I saw a dog in Bosnia I thought "God, I miss my dog." This video brings it back.
  • Cats Do Care
They just show their appreciation i a different way. They won't jump all over you like a dog but after a while will rub all over you. But there is nothing like a dog getting excited to see you. They do love you unconditionally. And to think there are people who abuse these noble animals.
  • Reminds me
of a saying I saw recently.

If you want to know who loves you unconditionally, lock your dog and your wife in the trunk of the car and see who's happy to see you when you open it 2 hours later.......
  • dog love
I can't get streaming video at work, but I'll watch it at home.

    My favorite dog quote:

We give dogs time we can spare, space we can spare and love we can spare. In return dogs give us their all. It is the best deal man has ever made.

    - M. Acklam

    Adopt a shelter pup!
  • Re: Cat
Jared, I respectfully disagree. My cat is at the door to welcome me home every day after work, and that is only being gone for a few hours.
  • Dogs
This is why dogs are man's best friend
  • Most do that even if you just left for 10 minutes
IME of owning 5 dogs in my lifetime most do that even if your gone for only 10 minutes ;)

I love my dog and cat and honestly my cat greets me at the door just as often as my dog does.
  • So sweet!
Haven't teared up this much at a video since I watched Christian the Lion.

Jared, cats DO care. They just have different ways of showing it.
  • THE BEST PART IS:
He came back with all of his parts intact. Let us hope that his mental health is intact as well. We should be truly thankful for out military!
  • Oh good lord
Pure cheese. Guess I have no heart, what a lame video.
  • Gracie the dog
See dogs know when there owners are gone and when they return like human they miss there owner so much....what a nice lovely movement in life for are brave men n women fightin for are freedoms!
  • dogs happy...........
    welcome home young warrior.......
  • Wow that really was sweet
Dogs and soldiers, a great combination... think this will convince Belinda to let the kids get a dog?
  • Tissues definitely needed
Thanks for the warning. If the beautiful dogs don't get you.. those children at the end will! Thank you to all our heroes!
  • Had Tissues -- still didn't help
Gotta love it ... dogs love you always and unconditionally -- thanks for the uplifting moment.
  • Cat
You wouldn't see a cat do that. They couldn't care less.
