"When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men living together in society, they create for themselves in the course of time a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that justifies it." Frederic Bastiat |

This bit is hard to start ... because there are so many things to say and so many people to thank. I'll keep it mercifully brief.
We all stayed at the Renaissance Hotel, the site of Saturday evening's ceremony ... right there on the Chicago River. What an incredible view. Spent much of Saturday walking up and down Michigan Avenue. My favorite store was the Garmin store .. but then I'm a tech freak. The lobby of the Tribune building is quite impressive. There are quotations there from various people about the need for a free press. Those words mean a lot right now after an election where the "free" press was clearly in the bag for one particular candidate. Then there's the gift store in the Tribune building. You guessed it ... Obama stuff everywhere.
Then there was the Hall of Fame dinner and ceremony Saturday night. I was just too nervous to eat ... which was probably a good thing. First up was Rush Limbaugh to deliver my induction speech.

Let me say something about Rush: Several years ago Rush told me that if I was ever inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame he would like to deliver my induction speech. When this year's inductees were announced I sent Rush an email asking if the offer was still open, but telling him I would certainly understand if there was a scheduling difficulty and he couldn't make it. Well ... there was a scheduling difficulty. This past weekend was Rush's annual golf outing with friends. They spend about three days playing golf and a few evenings with dinner and cigars. When Rush got my message he told his golf buddies that they were going to have to eat dinner without him Saturday night ... that he was flying to Chicago to deliver my induction speech. Turns out his pals listened to the show, and wanted to come too! So after Saturday's golf Limbaugh, George Brett, Gary McCord, Vince Flynn and a few more fly to Chicago. (I asked Flynn to have Mitch Rap off an Islamic terrorist in my name). Rush told the crowd about the time I helped him earn a 45 minute suspension on Chicago's WLS. At my urging, Rush told his national audience about the number of accidents caused by women farding in their cars. After the induction, Rush and the golf posse headed back to Midway and flew right back down to West Palm for Sunday's round of golf.
A special shout out to Dennis Miller and Willard Scott. Dennis had the crowd gasping for air during his remarks .. and who doesn't love Willard Scott. Turns out that Willard listens to the show on WSVA and spends much of the Winter down in my Naples neck of the woods, so dinner plans are in the works.
Saving the most important for last .. .and that's you. I know that I infuriate you sometimes, and more likely than not you've sent the show one of those "I'm never going to listen to you again" emails. But when the voting for the HOF came along, you were there. People who work with me know that I started dreaming of being in the Radio Hall of Fame about 17 years ago. I'm still pinching myself. I know I could never have made it without the support of my wife, Donna, and the dedication of people like Belinda Skelton, Royal Marshall and Cristina Gonzalez ... and listeners like you.
Special note: Ivan Solomon from Solomon Brothers Jewelers has a special Radio Hall of Fame ring made for me. We're going to take that ring and the Hall of Fame trophy and put it on display at Solomon Brothers for a week or so ... then I want it back.
Thanks to all of you.
