"When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men living together in society, they create for themselves in the course of time a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that justifies it." Frederic Bastiat |

If the web wench were in today I would post a picture of my father's and mother's grave at the Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio. On the front it says Neal A. Boortz, Sr. Lt. Col. USMC WWII, Korea, Vietnam. On the back it says Mary Frances Boortz. USN WWII. Both of my parents were veterans of WWII.
There's a story out there that is very fitting for Veterans Day. Here's your link. Four muggers attack a man in an alley in Milwaukee. They take his wallet ...everything. The leader of the gang opens the victim's wallet and sees a military ID card. He then orders his buds to put everything back. The victim's wallet and other belongings are laid on the ground next to him. The leader then apologized for the robbery and thanked the man for his service. He even came back for a fist bump after the robbers were walking away.
This story caused me to think ... to wonder if all of us give our men and women in uniform and our veterans the respect these criminals did. I think that generally we do ... I certainly hope I'm right.
Both Royal and I are from military families. From the entire Boortz show staff a big thanks and a heap of respect to all of the men and women out there who are serving and have served in our armed forces. You're truly the cream of the crop.
And it was too damned easy. The Islamic goon killed 10 people at random, and he got a painless injection. We should have tied him up to a post and shot him. Once again .. murderers should be executed the same way their victims died. None of this "cruel and unusual punishment" nonsense. If it was good enough for their victim ... it will be good enough for them.
I really am surprised it took this long. Usually after a tragedy involving a firearm, the anti-gun nuts are quicker on the trigger. Stepping up to the moonbat microphone in the aftermath of the Ft. Hood shooting we have Chicago's Thug Mayor, Richard Daley. Daley opines that this happened because of America's love of guns! He says, "Unfortunately, America loves Guns. We love guns to a point where that uh we see devastation on a daily basis. You don't blame a group."
Americans don't love guns, you fool. Americans love freedom; and American's cherish their right to own and to use firearms, if necessary, to defend those freedoms. This truth is so basic that even Daley should understand it: Guns don't kill people, people kill people. There's another little saying that I like more. "If guns are outlawed, only the government will have guns." Actually, that's not quite correct. Only the government and the criminals will have guns. And another little reminder: Blaming guns is the easy way out. If you blame guns for violence in the inner city, you don't have to address the black culture of violence. If you blame guns for Ft. Hood, you don't have to address the Islamic culture of violence. You focus on objects, not people, and objects don't vote. You're safe in your demagoguery.
Aren't you tired of people saying that: "Why can't America be more like Europe?" Well those people are finally getting their way. America is becoming more like Europe ... in terms of our unemployment rate.
Let's take a jog down memory lane. The Obama stimulus package that cost $787 billion had to be passed and it had to be passed immediately in order to cap our unemployment rate at 8% and turn this economy around. Meanwhile, the Congressional Budget Office warned us that all of this spending is eventually going to shrink the economy "in the long run." Well guess what? Unemployment is now higher than it would have been had Congress done absolutely nothing.
The Washington Post reports, "The official U.S. unemployment rate, reported last Friday, now stands at 10.2 percent, compared to 9.7 percent in Europe. This is the highest rate in more than 26 years, and marks a huge change from the recent past, in which unemployment was double the American rate in much of Europe."
Three Cheers for The Community Organizer!
Earlier this year Obama was urging other countries to pass massive stimulus plans, similar to ours. Misery loves company, I guess. Perhaps The Chosen One wanted other countries to pass a similar stimulus plan so that if it didn't work he wouldn't be sticking out like a wart on a beauty queen's nose. It's essentially the opposite of the aphorism "a rising tide lifts all boats." France, for example, refused to adopt an American-like stimulus package and it's unemployment rate hovers at 10% (ours just topped 10.2%). Germany adopted a significantly smaller stimulus package and currently has a 7.6% unemployment rate. Reports show that as of right now, countries that did NOT adopt an Obama-style stimulus plan are faring far better.
So how do you feel about this hopey-changey thing now?
When the whole healthcare reform debate began, many people (particularly politicians in Washington) were frustrated by the fact that Barack Obama did not own a clear vision for healthcare reform. He stood on the sidelines for an awfully long time, before he finally decided what he wanted out of a healthcare plan. Perhaps this is the Obama leadership style. You figure out where the crowd is going, then you rush up to the front and holler "follow me!" And you will remember, that when he did finally come out with ideas, he changed the whole debate from one on healthcare reform to one on healthcare insurance reform. This move was pretty transparent - pandering to the wealth envy crowd by demonizing the evil insurance companies is going to be a lot easier than trying to reform the healthcare system based on flawed logic.
Moving right along ... while a healthcare bill did pass the House, the fate of healthcare reform is still very rocky ... even dismal. Politicians in Washington don't want to go down with the ship, and the ship is taking on water. Now we see Democrats backing away, maybe in anticipation of failure. And who do they want to blame? Barack Obama.
Democrat Senator Mark Warner says that Obama blew it on healthcare reform when he decided to shift his focus to health insurance reform. He says, "I wish the president would have started the debate by explaining to the American people that our current health care system is not financially sustainable, for even another decade ... Driving down health care costs should have been the focus of the debate."
Folks, I have never been against healthcare reform. What I do not support is a government takeover of healthcare. This seems to be where Mark Warner gets it right; the debate all along should have been about lowering costs. But it wasn't. It has always been about power and more government. It has NEVER been about your health. Unfortunately for this freshman Senator, he is learning this the hard way.

Yesterday I told you about Rep. Cardoza of California who scored a $500 million medical center in his district as leverage for his vote on Pelosicare. Here are some more examples of the backroom deals that took place to get this thing passed.
There are two different bills floating around in Washington right now that want to rein in financial institutions. Here are the differences ...
The city of Las Vegas got a $64.3 million grant to buy houses for low-income families. Eight months later, not a single person is in a house.
Even a liberal admits that with healthcare reform, Democrats are creating a new entitlement program, which, once established, will be virtually impossible to rescind.
Could we be gearing up for Townhall Part II over healthcare reform as Congress returns home for the Veterans Day recess.
Should the FBI consider the shooting at Fort Hood an act of terrorism?
Of the 200 amendments the Democrats in the House rejected before passing Pelosicare, 11 would have required for Congress to enroll in the government option.
