"When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men living together in society, they create for themselves in the course of time a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that justifies it."
I heard Stephanie, a Penn State student, on Fox & Friends this morning talking about that asinine t-shirt controversy. I can report to you that she didn't use the "like" word one single time. She's a Senior .. someone will gobble her up in a hurry.

T-Shirt Controversy
I thought that this country was founded on the principles of freedom (Worship - that kind of thing)... so what if it looks like a cross.
As a godless "heathen" (Atheist), i have no problem with this and can only think that the people who are throwing their little temper tantrums are only looking for their 15 minutes.
Are these same people who went rushing headlong to get Islamic studies and out-reach programs started as fast as they could after 9/11? It's ok to kowtow to Islamic terrorists but when a t-shirt is designed with a school emblem (be it only a vertical blue bar), they start screeching about Christian symbols.
C'mon people, even if it HAD been designed with that in mind, so WHAT? Christians have EVERY right to wear clothing with a cross on it and be proud of of their faith. The hajab is a common sight on American campi anymore, does anyone object to that? 30,000 to 6... i think the majority have spoken here.
To "Shuttin Down"
re: "Those Pesky 90 Degree Angles" Looks like the 1st thing you'll have to do is quit calling them "t-shirts". LOL
Jimg,
"Yeah. Because whining about a so-called cross on a t-shirt is exactly the same as paying homage to a religion that spawned the terrorists who murdered more than 3,000 innocent people on 9/11. At one of the crash sites, no less."
Yes, while ignoring the historical fact and perspective of others who see a cross symbol on a white banner as a sign of mass murder as well.
The point you missed in your myopic view is that not everyone is a xian nor one to wear a cross everywhere.
Perspective is an odd thing and seemingly used so selectively when it comes to offence.
Your protest is a great example if such an occurrence.
Scott,
"WTF is xian?"
Abbreviation for Christian.
"I have never, ever seen that before in my life."
Not my fault. Im sure you have seen xmas. Same principle.
"Man is the word so bad to you that you can't even spell it out. "
Man, are xians so sensitive that they get offended over an abbreviation?
Odd how you comment about me using the abbreviation for Christian while using an abbreviation for "What The F***".
"I know, I've seen xmas and I have never figured out how "x" came to replace Christ."
It is a simply abbreviation.
The votes over 30,000 to 6 in favor of the design.
Id call that a successful design.
Things must be great up there for the ADL and Hillel, if thats all theyve got to whine about. They need to change their name to The Stick in the Mud Club. I wonder what theyd think of my IDF t-shirt? It has a Star of David on it, and Im a Baptist. Theyd just have to get over it, as well. Keep me away from the easily offended, theyre way too much fun to irritate.
Im a little surprised the campus feminists in training havent made them change the name of Beaver stadium yet. Oops, did I start something again?

"After all, how many of those complaining now about the harmless nature of the xian symbol on this shirt were first to complain about the crescent shape of the 9/11 crash cite memorial?"
Yeah. Because whining about a so-called cross on a t-shirt is exactly the same as paying homage to a religion that spawned the terrorists who murdered more than 3,000 innocent people on 9/11. At one of the crash sites, no less.
xian?
Drea3, WTF is xian? I have never, ever seen that before in my life. Man is the word so bad to you that you can't even spell it out. I know, I've seen xmas and I have never figured out how "x" came to replace Christ.
Politically Correct University
Officially its "The Pennsylvania State University Nittany Lions".
How can an institution the prides itself on diversity call itself a University. "The Pennsylvania State .... Nittany Lions"
The State is the institution that subjugated the Native Americans. "The Pennsylvania .... .... Nittany Lions"
William Penn was one of those evil white subjugators. "The .... .... .... Nittany Lions"
According to legend, Nittany was a Native American Princess". "The .... .... .... .... Lions"
The mountain lions were hunted to extinction. "The .... .... .... .... ...."
How can you say "The" if there is no word "Ther". "....... .... .... .... ...."
T-Shirts Shmee-shirts
I think that all roads should run parallel to each other. That way there will see no government promoted crosses as you fly across this country. Of course we can have road that "T", but they may not run through and form a Christian symbol.
Penn State shirt - Where do I get one?
I'm not necessarily a Penn State fan but I want one of these shirts. I wonder if I can order one on-line.
What should we do about...
those pesky intersections that are crosses? I guess we need a college course that will teach students how to avoid intersections. Just thinking....
you're a victim now
you're a victim now, neal.
i was listening to your radio program, and it was about democrats are always the victim. now, when i come inside and pull up your page, i see how the right is victimized too. its bipartisan thing?
My spelling...
Before anyone has a fit, in my post below, I mispelled "hijab." Don't get your headscarves in a twist.
If they liked that
t=shirt, they'll REALLY like this one http://www.zazzle.com/riggy001*
Aaaaaaaaarrrrghhhh!
Isn't it a shame that the cross seems to be the only symbol that just makes people crazy? I used to live in England and made a lot of friends who have lasted a lifetime. I was speaking with one of my Limey girlfriends last week who told me that her employer had asked Christians not to wear crosses (jewelry) to work to avoid riling up the Muslim workers. So, she's not to wear her cross on top of her clothes, but the woman next to her is dressed in hajib. If you ask me, the whole hajib get-up is a religious symbol and those Muslim gals should have to come to work naked.
If you are intellectually honest then you would have to admit that at any sort of casual distance, this looks like a xian cross. Add to it the Nike symbol on the top that is reminiscent of the crown symbol found atop many xian cross symbols.
It may not have been intentional, but the final design is very xian.
Should the shirts be banned? No. If you dont like the shirt, dont buy it.
But when people who are not xian or overtly so complain, those who cannot face any sort of criticism or objection against their religious faith should refrain from being so sensitive.
After all, how many of those complaining now about the harmless nature of the xian symbol on this shirt were first to complain about the crescent shape of the 9/11 crash cite memorial?
Fox News
Fox News is the only one making a big deal out of this ... i think 6 people complained about the shirt - that's not national news in my book.
Say it ain't so ...
No more crescent windows? Now where am I gonna go to go?
Crosses and More Crosses
What about the Red Cross? Must they become something else? What about the Crescent Moon, should the moon be blacked out? All this crap makes us lose focus.
Shrit
What a bunch of crying bed wetters. NOBODY is saying it's mandatory for you to wear the shirt at the ball games. NOBODY is forcing you to lay down 15 bones for the shirt. If you dont like the shirt, dont buy it
Am I to believe that they're more offended by a "Cross"
than they are the word "white" or "out"???
Oh wait... that's right, it's ok to kick white's out. I forgot that it's ok to discriminate against whites now, esp. white males.
what's next?
"Are we going to ban lowercase t's in the alphabet? Where do you draw the line?"
LOL...this quote made my day :)
those pesky 90 degree angles
That's it. I've had it! It's time to remove these subtle religious symbols from our society.
Perpendicularity will not be tolerated!
Starting with these tshirts, we also need to re-engineer road intersections and any building built level to earth's plane. The orthogonality of the E and H fields must be abolished - curse you Mr. Maxwell! Everyone do their part - I'm ripping up my floor tiles when I get home tonight - the kitchen and bathrooms are absolutely overrun with crosses !!!
What a shock
I am so surprised, fox news is doing their job, not reporting news but supporting wasps. What next? support for the nazi pope?
Penn State T
I wouldn't purchase one of the shirts, not because they look like a cross, but rather they like, you know, uhm cost $15!
@shirt
Has anti-Christian bigotry gotten so widespread that you can't even be seen wearing something that might look like a big lowercase "t"?
But it did look like a cross to me at first, but when I looked at it I knew it wasn't. Lightened up bigots, this kind of nonsense happens all the time. There was one time I thought I saw a hammer and sickle on a person's car, but then it turned out to be the Obama symbol...oh wait... bad example...
T-Shirt Traumatized Teenage Turdbrains
When I first noticed this story out of the corner of my eye, I assumed the 'controversy' was because the words "WHITE OUT" appear on the shirt, and that a number of 'non-white' students were outraged; never even noticed the cross similarity. But then I remembered, we're talking about Penn State. The only blacks on that campus are either buffing the floors or stealing hubcaps in the parking lot with Bill O'Reilly.
PSU T-Shirts
I'm a PSU alumni and current employee. Working at a University we are deluged with PC silliness but the general consensus among my coworkers is that this is a new low.
