Barack Obama says that he isn't losing any sleep over Fox News. I'll buy it. But I bet you dollars to doughnuts that there are a lot of Obama officials and dogwashers who lose plenty of sleep over the fact that Fox News is VERY effective at poking holes in their White House bubble. But the latest comments actually come from the president himself. Obama says that Fox News is "operating basically as talk radio."

Here's the full quote: "I think what our advisers have simply said is that we are going to take media as it comes ... And if media is operating basically as a talk radio format then that's one thing, and if it's operating as a news outlet that's another but it's not something I'm losing sleep over."

Here again we see The Community Organizer focusing on three shows: Beck, O'Reilly and Hannity. Two currently have talk shows. O'Reilly had one, but got his ass kicked in the ratings. So once again let's make this point: Obama's gripe with Fox News is with the opinion and commentary shows, not the news shows. It might be nice if someone would sit The Community Organizer down and try to explain to him the difference between news and opinion. Hey, PrezBO .. you're never too old to learn!

  • Ayn Rand Quote
We are fast approaching the stage of the ultimate inversion: the stage where the government is free to do anything it pleases, while the citizens may act only by permission; which is the stage of the darkest periods of human history, the stage of rule by brute force.

  • 3m - There you go again ......
3m, There you go again mentioning that SILLY little word -- "FACTS". Will you one day please enlighten us with the true FACTS as you see them because so far I have heard none. Also Please provide links.

As of now you keep sounding like my 8 year old son argueing with his 10 year old brother. "You stink. Your wrong because I said so. Republicans hate America and so on...."
  • That's my fav movie!

And all too true, Tired, all too true.
  • Common Sense
"sound and prudent judgment based on a simple perception of the situation or facts" if you have it then it doesn't matter where you get your news...you will be able to see things as they really are. for instance...is insuring an additional 20 million or so people worth adding another trillion dollars to our debt and possibly bankrupting the country? if you have any amount of common sense you will know the correct answer. if you dont then you are probably cheerleading for nationalized healthcare.
  • I love Auntie Em
She is a very smart woman :)

I run a good court that condemns scoundrels of all walks of life.
But let me reiterate, my conclusions are very much my own and do not necessarily reflect those of Fox News.
Let's take another example of one of my court's rulings.
    NAMBLA.
If one is unable or unwilling to completely condemn this organization for what it is, than under my gavel (it's really just a cooking spoon) such person is guilty of pedophilia regardless of whether they have, do, or ever will physically engage in this deplorable act.
The court of shuttin down finds that they have the desire - just as bad.
    It's final - sorry...

Are you getting it now, O purveyor of fairy dust and magic beans? Fox News doesn't tell me how to think - it's all me!
  • BO is bogging everyone down, including Neal.
Please reread the following: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

Please notice that it mentions Freedom of the Press and Freedom of Speech. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF IT IS OPINION! If BO respects the constitution (and he is supposed to be a constitutional lawyer!) he has to respect their right to put forth the news or their opinion. Also there are plenty of precedents, going right back BEFORE the US Revolution, to allow FOX to not bother to make the distinction. It is up to the readers/viewers to decide, for themselves and ONLY for themselves, if it is news or opinion, not the President and not his minions!

While BO and his Congressional pets haven’t technically violated the Constitution by making a law, can any of you liberals be honest enough to admit that the WH behavior toward FOX on the Feinberg interviews is equivalent? I doubt it, that would be admitting that conservatives and moderates deserve the same rights and I’ve yet to see that from those of you invading this site.

Hmmm, This situation looks like a reality TV version of the Wizard of Oz - but without the happy ending.

    Toto = FoxNews

  • Thank You Shuttin Down...
"he may not be openly practicing, but it's where his allegiance lies in terms of any religious aspects of his life.

I didn't get this from Fox either. I held a hearing on this (yeah, just me) and this was my conclusive finding in the matter. I banged my gavel 3 times and declared "Guilty, Guilty, Guilty"."

...for giving us that honest insight into the conservative thought process. Just come to the conclusion that suits your agenda and hatred, not letting things like facts mess up the process.
  • The crying is just starting
Does anybody think that the crying (Fox News is Talk Radio), finger pointing The protestors don't represent America, excuses making (It's Bush's Fault!!), and lying (The Stimulus is Working!!!), is bad now. Wait until November 2010.
The rest of the World is watching us like a bad soap opera. Its embarrasing.
  • "First Obama is not a Muslim, so there would be..."
    yes, he is.

he may not be openly practicing, but it's where his allegiance lies in terms of any religious aspects of his life.

I didn't get this from Fox either. I held a hearing on this (yeah, just me) and this was my conclusive finding in the matter. I banged my gavel 3 times and declared "Guilty, Guilty, Guilty".

    It's final - sorry...
  • You mean news doesn't equal opinion??
The WH confusion is easy to understand. The Obama-enslaved media never actually offers any real news, just slanted opinion pieces, so it's only natural that they judge Fox based on *their* opinion shows. The WH lackeys probably can't fathom what the rest of Fox News' programming even is.
  • Maybe this is the problem
PrezBo can't tell the difference between news and commentary. Maybe he doesn't know the difference between law and ideology, or fact and fiction. There just may be Purple polka dotted elephants in his world.
  • Or in 2012
We could get a president and a congress that understands who they work for, restore the republic, tell the environmentalists to back off and let the oil companies drill where we can get away from foreign influence, secure our border and maybe even bring our guys home in honor! Restore the American people's faith in their representatives, have policies that encourage business and job growth resulting in increased tax revenues in combination with stopping all this crap being initiated from going into effect so we can start bringing the national debt under control and restore our Nation's credit rating. Tell the world if you want to do business with us fine, but we will no longer kiss ass to get that business.

Wouldn't that be nice? Currently I don't know of but one or two in Washington who could accomplish that and they sure aren't in the White House right now.
  • BO an Fox feud
What a petty little man.You morons who voted for this chump elected a child pretending to be a man.I used to kinda like the man personally but opposed his lame ideas.I have since grown to dislike the man behind the mask.
  • Hey 3mbw - why not answer Joyce
    hey 3mbw,

Joyce and others have repeatedly requested facts to back up your statements. Why do you not answer?
  • Hey "3mbw"
You sound like you're actually under the impression that ANY of the things you just mentioned were IMPROVED IN ANY WAY WHATSOEVER by our most recent President.

I find it hard to even grasp that anybody could be that blind. I don't even know what to say. I'm in awe. You keep on waiting around for that "hope and change" . . . I cannot WAIT for this guy to make millions and MILLIONS of dollars doing speaking engagements against whoever wins the Presidency in 2012 . . . of course, that will be okay with you. It's not the money that people make, it's WHO makes the money and what their politics are.

With Obama, much more is said than is EVER done . . . the mark of a good CON is details. LOTS of details. No substance mind you, just details.

I never thought I'd see the day where Anti-Capitalists actually ran the show and didn't even try to conceal their ANTI-AMERICAN prejudices. It's amazing.
  • @Lane, Same holds for CNN
You'd think that when turning on CNN (Cable NEWS Network) I would get news shows, not Lou Dobbs, Larry King, Anderson Cooper...
  • 2012
"Assuming that they'll still HOLD AN ELECTION in 2012"

They're still holding an election in 2012.

And yes the next president could bring back the economic crises, the credit crunch, 4.00/gas, a plunging stock market, trash our national reputation. But who wants that?
  • Are they smoking Crack?
If it is the White House's intention to snub FNC, they apparently have forgotten that the best way to get a book on the best seller list is for the author to get sued or have the Catholic church ban it.

My guess is they are (a) sending a message to the other news outlets that they will be put on double secret probation if they follow suit, and (b) as someone has already said, this it a diversion to the latest series of WH disasters: the on-going health care debate and Afghanistan policy.

Nonetheless, history suggests that snubbing FNC is certain to send the otherwise oblivious to them out of curiosity.

FWIW: Every time I watch a news program on FNC I am amused at how non-right wing and sometimes silly it is. If I were going for the hard right viewer, I would be much more aggressive in airing items that annoy the left and please the right. I just don't see that going on there. I think they miss regular opportunities to do so.
  • The Facts
Don't you know that his opinion is the only facts that matter. Facts are relative to opinion
  • Fox News bias
    Same as earlier this week.....

I have said on these forums many times that I do not personally care if fox news is biased or not. It is a private business giving their audience what they want. It's a free country. All that said any notion that their bias does not permiate their "news" division is complete and utter BS. Neal wants examples...

Carl Cameron tells President Bush his family is campaigning all over the state for him. He also posts a blog questioning John Kerry's sexuality. He later says it wasn't meant to be published and that it was only something he did to send to other Fox staffers. Yea...sure thing Mr. Senior WHite House correspondent. No bias there.

Senior Correspondent Eric Shawn is hosting the news desk and has Liz Trotta on who jokes about assasinating Obama. Shawn's reply? Simple little chuckle and "Tell us how you really feel"

Republicans in trouble regularly identified as democrats.

Ensign affair sat on for weeks while they knew about it. The husband contacted them directly and still not a word until after everyoen else broke it and even then it was minimal.

Fox Producers whipping up the crowds for tea party protests to show on the news.

Terrorist fist jabs, madrassas, birth controversies, gay rumors, cocaine rumors all get reported as hard news.

Give it a rest Neal. Your double standard is always there but on this it is way out of whack. By the way when you and other conservatives speak of the liberal bias at other netowrks do you ever limit it to just the "hard news"? Sure thing.
  • WH and Fox
Neal, I can't believe you missed the story about the White House attempting to exclude Fox News from interviewing Ken Feinberg yesterday. They invited the press pool to each have five minutes Feinberg, but when the "except Fox News" was said, the other networks refused to do interviews. The White House was forced to back down and let Fox interview as well, but they cut down every network's interview time from 5 to 2 minutes.
  • why?
why is neal so fixated on this non-news item?
  • What lies 3?
Second, free speech is not under attack. It's this hate filled smear campaign which is being exposed.

if someone was goign around town spreading lies about you, would you excuse it as free speech?
    By 3mbw

You keep spewing that lie, so back it up, what lies are you talking about or SHUT UP!
  • Fox News
The war on Fox News is a carefully planned distraction. The White House wants to keep us from hearing about what's going on with health care "reform". It's working, too. See how easy it is to control the media?
  • O dam ya
There is NOTHING HONORABLE about this man or his government machine.
If his supporters don't see the danger of this type of assault performed by his staff, but not owned by O, then the "Enemy List Makers" may soon out number the Americans.
  • I HAVE A QUESTION.
Assuming that they'll still HOLD AN ELECTION in 2012, is it possible that we can REJECT and ELIMINATE all these ridiculous and horrific programs that the current administration is trying to put into place?
I mean, if Obama is so dangerous and can wreak such havoc in such a short time, why can't the next guy who becomes President just get rid of all of it? It seems like the government takes forever to do ANYTHING, so it seems like they're gonna run out of time before they manage to drive us into the ground.
  • Free Speech
"Didn't B. Hussein Obama put his hand on (what, a Koran?) and swear to uphold the Constitution, doesn't that include the 1st amendment and not abridging the rights of a free press and free speech?"

First Obama is not a Muslim, so there would be no reason he would be sworn in on a Koran.

Second, free speech is not under attack. It's this hate filled smear campaign which is being exposed.

if someone was goign around town spreading lies about you, would you excuse it as free speech?
  • Two Things
Did ya hear Anita Dunn's hubby is getting a job in the White House!!!

And I gotta give the other media guys kudos for refusing to participate in a briefing yesterday (can't remember with who) if the Fox correspondent was not going to be included. Good for them! They realize that abuse on any one of them is bad for the press in general.
  • Yah
of course, what idiots would think by turning on fox NEWS that they would have news shows on. Dont forget the excellent fact checking that fox news does. When Mark Foley was goggling over his pages like a catholic priest at a playground they reported him as a democrat. My gosh that news isnt biased at all.

o'reily-even Neal says he is nuts(checkout youtube clip)
    hannity-24/7 crybaby
    beck-Literal crybaby
  • Once again
And once again, in making this statement, which is basically a non-statement, Obama is saying, "Well, I don't really have an opinion one way or the other and I'm not losing any sleep over it. But I can't help it if everyone who works for me is obsessing about Fox News..."
  • Obamao & Co.
Lets face it. Liberals simply will not accept criticism of any kind. Any sort of challenge or criticism to their way of thinking is nearly always met with an emotional outburst.

These were the screaming kids inside K-Mart 30 years ago that your Mother wonder why the parent wouldn't do anything to shut them up. Cry babies one and all.
  • Fox News and profits
Fox news and talk radio just go down to one thing to any business, to make a profit. Fox news started, they saw with Rush and the talk radio format the being conservative right wing was a great way of making Fox news to stand out. They are looking at an income group of $50,000 and above. Look at what companies buy the most ads, investment companies, luxury items, and other high price items. Fox is going to report the news to those demographics. If they do not care about the ratings, they could put Al Franklin or other liberal commentators in the line up, but they won't because they know they have a gold mine in the way they have it. Why do you think CNN is trying to be more conservative? The money!!!!
  • but he'll do Leno?
So he'll go on Leno and Oprah, but he won't do an interview with a news network? That just seems ludicrous to me. During the day CNN, MSNBC, and Fox are all covering the news. Just don't go on the opinion shows. It stands to reason he would go on Fox, just to address the opposing views and sway people to his side. But what do you expect from a community organizer?
  • Why doesn't it bother you Leftists that the Democrats are going after free-speech?
Don't you consider yourselves to be “Liberal”, does suppressing free speech sound “Liberal” to you?
  • Fox News
I wonder how the WH can say Fox News is not News because they have opinion shows. That is like saying some of the other channels are not News because they have Soap Operas, reality shows, comedy shows etc. Maybe the White House has finally shot itself in the foot. They have had the undying devotion of the other news media till they tried to exclude Fox. Could be this opened the eyes of some of these and caused them to jerk their head out for a breath of fresh air.
  • Violation of Oath
Didn't B. Hussein Obama put his hand on (what, a Koran?) and swear to uphold the Constitution, doesn't that include the 1st amendment and not abridging the rights of a free press and free speech?
  • Fox News Debate
I think White House war on Fox News is the most disturbing of all. Attempts to suppress the media because of negative coverage is scary!
  • Obama
It must be very frustrating, being President, yet having to put up with irritants like the Constitution at the same time. I don't know which is worse: Bush never ONCE standing up to defend himself against the leftist media (especially during its active campaign to lose the Iraq war)...or Obama, who basically is so childish that it would not surprise me to see him say, "If FoxNews doesn't stop exposing my disastrous presidency I'll hold my breath and fall down and bump my head and then you'll all be sorry!"
