THE FALLOUT FROM THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE

Let's face it. Friday was not a good day not to be on the air. But who knew that these five leftists Norwegian Arctic Circle Moonbats were going to hand the Nobel Peace Prize to Barack Obama?

For what? For not being George Bush, that's what!

Hopefully you weren't all that surprised.

Since I wasn't here Friday, let's re-post some of the comments I emailed back to the Web Wench from Texas ... and then add to those thoughts.

First - you have to come up with a definition of "peace." There's a Nobel Prize for physics and one for medicine too. In virtually every culture and every country in the world you define "physics" and "medicine" pretty much the same way. That's not the way its done for "peace." During the post World-War II the Soviet Union defined "peace' as "an absence of opposition to world Communism." As long as nobody was challenging their communist expansionism they felt we were all at peace. Let some country; like the evil United States for instance, challenge their plans for world domination and ... no more peace.

For me any definition of "peace" must have a component dedicated to freedom. You can, after all, live a life of peace in a jail cell, so long as there isn't someone there to stir things up. You're not free, but peace reigns. Web Guy forwarded some emails to me over the weekend that disagreed. These people said freedom was not a proper component of peace. Well ... see what I mean? There are perhaps as many different definitions as there are definers. I'm not at peace if I'm not free. Simple as that.

Now ... to Obama and the Peace Prize. I take you back again to that Pew Research poll conducted in Europe last year. Almost 60% of Europeans who responded to the poll wanted America to be less powerful in world affairs. That's not an uncommon sentiment over there ... not uncommon right up until the Germans or Russians come marching across a border.

So ... here we have these five Norwegian politicians; The Nobel committee. Can we reasonably assume that this committee reflects much of the European attitude? I mean, they're not exactly headquartered in Boise. They look at the nominations before them, and there's PrezBO! Now what has Obama done in the past nine or so months? Why, he's given the Euro-weenies just exactly what they wanted! Now we have a United States with a weaker presence in world affairs! Russia and China are striving for military domination. Obama backs off the American promise of a shield against Iran's missiles for Eastern Europe. Putin says "frog" and Obama jumps. Putin says "jump" and Obama asks "how high?" Then we have the Arab states reportedly working to replace the dollar as the petroleum trading currency. And last week there are suggestions that Obama is just going to declare that the Taliban are too entrenched in Afghanistan for us to possibly prevail there - a prelude to a cut and run. Does any of this sound like a projection of strength? Of course not. America is projecting feel-good, hopey-changey weakness at every turn; and this is exactly what Europe wanted.

So last week they delivered a message to Obama. Europe likes your style. You're giving us exactly what we wanted --- what we asked for. You're weakening the United States; for us, the key to peace.

Oh ... and don't forget the slap in the face for George Bush. Bush is in office for eight years. He responds strongly to the attacks from terrorist Muslims. He frees Iraq from a ruthless dictator and his rapist sons. He projects American strength .. and Europe hates him for it. So ... the Nobel committee comes along and delivers a slapdown.

For those who define peace as an living free of threats to your natural right to be free ... this just isn't your day, is it?

Well ... at least this will give Newsweek a reason to put Obama on the cover again.

But wait! There's more! If you act now ..........

With all that being said ... in case you are not aware, criticizing Barack Obama for winning the Nobel Peace prize makes you a terrorist. Seriously, folks. That comes from the DNC communications director Brad Woodhouse. He said, "The Republican Party has thrown in its lot with the terrorists - the Taliban and Hamas this morning - in criticizing the President for receiving the Nobel Peace prize ... Republicans cheered when America failed to land the Olympics and now they are criticizing the President of the United States for receiving the Nobel Peace prize - an award he did not seek but that is nonetheless an honor in which every American can take great pride - unless of course you are the Republican Party." There's more to his rant. Woodhouse says, "The 2009 version of the Republican Party has no boundaries, has no shame and has proved that they will put politics above patriotism at every turn. It's no wonder only 20 percent of Americans admit to being Republicans anymore - it's an embarrassing label to claim." By "the 2009 version of the Republican Party," I assume that he is referring to the Tea Party protesters. It is "that" type of Republican that has the Democrat boxers in a bunch.

Now we get it, don't we? If you aren't fawning over our new Nobel Peace Prize winner you're in the same bed with Islamic goons who kill innocents in Israel by lobbing rockets their way, and you're supportive of the Taliban's brutal efforts in Afghanistan. That's where political discourse has brought us today.

Hillary's state department also took the time to take a swipe at George W. Bush in the wake of Obama winning the Peace prize. Assistant Secretary PJ Crowley said, "Certainly from our standpoint, this gives us a sense of momentum -- when the United States has accolades tossed its way, rather than shoes."

One thing for certain: If the Nobel Peace Prize wasn't all-but discredited when it was awarded to Yasser Arafat, this ought to do it.

What others are saying

  • Nobel Prize
It was absolutely right for obamy to get the prize; He is in good company with Arafat the terrorist, inventor of suicide bombings.
Koffe Anan, the UN scum that allowed Bosnia, Darfur and the Sudan to spirial into genicide, while UN peacekeepers raped their children and stole billions of dollars from the Food for profit program, at least for him and his croonies.
Then there's; "I invented the internet "not" and global warming scam "yeah", can't wait to rape you, your children and your grandchildren of every dollar you earn, algore.
Along with another "show horse," not work horse, like obamy, that created the Department of Education, how's that working out?, Capped our industries and traded our jobs away beginings; removed the Shah and implemented the terrorists (I'manutjob) in Iran and the islamic revolution; never knew a dictator I didn't like jimmy carter. Yes indeed he's in good company.
As for those norweigan political hacks, they'd do well to remember, that a weak America is detriment to their health, and the health of their nation, as WE "America are their protectors."
    Dumnasses.

  • Nobel Prize
It's clear these left leaning socialist though they'd found a kindred spirit in Obama. He has promised to remake America in a fundamental way, and that excited them more than a Norwegian blond bombshell sitting at the end of a bar. read: The Nobel Peace Prize? Who's the Joke Really On?..at...http://cooperscopy.blogspot.com/
  • http://promo.espn.go.com/espn/contests/theheismanvote/2009/

Everyone should go to the Heisman voting site and vote for Barack Obama... I heard he watched a college football game this weekend so that should qualify him.
  • No Surprise Here.
The Nobel Peace Prize was poorly named considering its standardly awarded to the following: liars, murderers, eugenists, traitors and global government cheerleaders.

The global elites are positively salivating over Obama's star power, he was given the medal for his outward defiance of the Constitution he swore to uphold. God, it's almost like the plot of "2011: Obama's Coup Fails" is beginning to play out in the real world.
  • To Jimmy Dolan:
One of the biggest problems with Obama winning the award is that he had been in office for less than two weeks before the nomination deadline. He clearly did not win it for any accomplishments at all. He won it for, well, I don't know why, except for "hope and change". None of the other prizes were awarded for anything other than something the recipient had actually done, not what he or she "hoped" to do.
  • Nobel Fallout
I'm a bit confused. How can you be on the side of the Taliban by criticizing Obama getting the Nobel Prize when the taliban was on Obama's side during the campaign. To me that would make you both for and against the Taliban at the same time. Sounds to me like the democrats just can't get their story straight AGAIN. They need to learn, AGAIN, they just can't have it both ways. Pick a side morons!
  • obama & nobel prize
boortz is just another garden-variety, paranoid, right-wing moron; remember, the first thing obama said was that he doesn't deserve it; it ain't his fault they gave him the prize
  • Accomplishment
The Nobel committee did manage to accomplish something that no one else has.....for a few moments they managed to make Obama appear self conscious...to actually be embarrassed. May have only lasted a few minutes, but it was priceless.....
  • Obama Nobel opposers terrorists..
Does this mean they now consider Chavez a terrorist as well since he said Obama didn't deserve it?
  • Obama and the Peace Prize
Not only did Obama not win the Noble Prize for economics but he didn't win the Pulitzer Prize for his book in the fiction or non-fiction categories.

    And . . . brilliant post Richard!
  • Breaking Story: Obama doesn't win Nobel Economics Prize
In a shock decision, Obama did not win the Nobel Economics prize. Timothy Geithner and Michael Moore were also passed over in what was largely viewed as a snub. The president has worked tirelessly since his inauguration to ruin the world's largest free-market economy, wrest control of economic decision making from greedy CEO's to wise benelovent bureaucrats. From his $787 billion spending package, to the cap-and-trade bill, to the seizures of General Motors, AIG and Chrysler, to the undead health-care "reform" act, Obama has ravaged the U.S. economy, and therefore the global economy as few figures have in modern history.

Yet the Nobel panel chose instead to award the prize to two obscure academics -- Elinor Ostrom and Oliver Williamson -- one noted for her work on managing collective resources, and the other for his work on transaction costs.

Jimmy Carter, who was reached for comment, said "Few have managed to hurt the U.S. economy as I did....Barak Obama is in a class by himself...I cannot understand why the committee chose to snub him."

    Developing
  • DNC Brad Woodhouse's comments
You can tell Mr. Woodhouse for me, that if Chicago was awarded the Olympics, it would be like fighting in a war zone against the terrorists. So the Repubs might be right to applaud and maybe even toss a size 15 Nike at the Dems.
  • oh I could be wrong buttttttttttt........................
    RICHARD...........might be a closet racist................

that PALES remark was not only insensitive but..............it had racist over tones......and then he mentioned AYRES and god in his post.....wellll now.......
  • morons think peace can be separate from freedom
I guess those that are stupid enough to think you can separate peace from freedom must bein support of apartheid and locking Nelson Mandela back up. Idiots!
  • On the other hand
Don't know if it would be wise to turn it down. That would be a slap in the face of the committee (even though they deserve it) and no American would EVER win again no matter what peace they helped to broker.

And of course the money is going to charity.
  • RE: "More Awards"
Richard - Absolutlely the best post i've ever read since Neal went to this "Post Your Comment" format. Even more appreciated since I fish Bass tournaments.

    Darn good job!!!!
  • Unintended consequences
Most Americans are indignant about Obama being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
    He hasn't earned it.
Even my liberal sister-in-law said that this wasn't right and that if Obama doesn't turn it down it will come back to embarrass him.
Then why did the Nobel Committee present this award to Obama, rather than to someone who had earned it?
True, part of the answer was to send a slap in the face to Bush, but why couldn't the Committee see the embarrassment this unearned reward would cause Obama?
Likewise, why couldn't Obama see it when he accepted the prize? He can't be that stupid. Maybe he needed the money.
I think the Committee's, and Obama's mistake, resulted from a critical misunderstanding of the American People.
Unlike Europeans and the American Obama worshipers, Most Americans believe that you get what you earn. We don't want anyone to give us anything we haven't earned, particularly something as prestgious as the Nobel Peace Prize.
And, the most troubling aspect of this tragedy for Obama and America is that we sure as hell don't want a bunch of Euro-wienies giving our president something he didn't earn.
That's an insult to Obama and to us.
  • Not really a surprise
Seriously, the Nobel "Peace" prize is akin to Olympic ice dancing and rhythmic gymnastics. Style points count for everything and style is always subjective. So, like ice dancing and rhythmic gymnastics are not really sports, the "peace" prize isn't really an award. It is just pretty.
  • More Change
This just in: The Grammy's will now be called the "Obammy's."
  • To All
Are you guys starting to realize that pretty much everything I have said has been right? Wanna know what is coming next? Hardcore tyranny is next. Imagine Nazi Germany and you will be on the right track. We have a very hard road ahead. I wish you guys luck and I will see you in the trenches.
  • More awards!
President Obama has just been named the MVP of Super Bowl XLIV!

And in an unrelated late-breaking story, Obama has just replaced Jimmy Johnson as the points leader in the 2009 Nascar Sprint Cup Race-for-the-Chase series, and named Toyota Tundra BASS Angler of the year for 2010 and 2011. Kevin VanDam, perenniel BASS elite series favorite, said it's only fair that Obama be given the award since his duties give him limited time on the water and place him at a decided disadvantage. "Besides", opined VanDam, "the poor guy doesn't even own a boat!"

Johnson was upbeat in an interview today. "We worked hard and raced hard this season, and this was probably my best shot at winning another Championship. But all that pales in comparison* to the goodwill and prospects for improving the global image of Nascar."

Pit crews were heard chanting 'yes we can' while the Presidential limousine was in the garage area being fitted with special tires for this weeks race. Bill Ayres, who will take the wheel while Obama is flying around the world collecting his various awards this month, has been exempted from this weeks qualifying. When questioned, Ayres told Daryl Waltrip "I wrote his books, I guess I can drive his G** D****d Car!"

Rumor has it that Waltrip won't be permitted to shout "Boogitty Boogitty, Boogitty" this week because of the obvious racial overtones, and the Air Force fighter jet fly-over will be replaced by a VW bus circling the track so as not to appear overly agressive.

The devisive, in-your-face National Anthem will be replaced with the New Christy Minstrels' rendition of "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing."

(with the urging of civil rights activists, the group will change it's name to the New Christy Social Justice Singers.)

*Allow me to apologize for the " pales in comparison" remark. That was, well, uh, insensitive.

  • icing on the cake
If the award to Al Gore wasn't enough of a clue that this orgnization is a liberal propaganda machine, then the award to Obama should prove it.

    Truly icing on the cake.
  • Check out the reward for Economics
The awarding of the Peace Prize makes more sense when you see what earned the prize for Economics...

Too bad they haven't figured out there is no difference! LOL!
  • All together now.....WTF?!?
Nobel Appeasement Prize for…?? Giving good speeches. Or something.

Nominated 2 weeks after inauguration for...?? Not being Bush?

Is it not abundantly clear that Dear Leader’s epic fail performance and corresponding tanking job approval are causing panic in Lib La-La Land? Desperation yields absurdity.
  • reFrank
Ooh...yeah... they really showed George Bush! After he won 2000 and 2004. Let's see, uh... two terms as President or a watered down, empty award. Hmmmm...way to get over on him.
  • Hey Frank, if they really wanted to make me wonder...
...they'd give it to President Bush. Being pointedly snubbed by them is an honor, it helps mitigate his 'liberal' streak.

It's an antihonor for proud Americans, kinda like being awarded Hero of the Soviet Union. They only give nobels to people who are anti-American. It's a dead albatross, wear it with pride hussein.
  • Snark you give Dems too much credit
    Even Newsweek is saying "Enough":

    http://newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sheppard/2009/10/11/howard-kurtz-scolds-rush-limbaughs-critics

And Fox reports that everytime CNN etal, criticize "right wing media" their ratings go up!

So if they want to attack, let 'em!

  • Somebody give me a chit to the cry locker, a dp hack called me unpatriotic.
Yea, it did sound like uncontrollable laughter in there, it’s ‘cause I was so hurt.

I’m throwing my lot in with terrorists for laughing at a ‘peace’ award that has been awarded to the quintessential terrorist, American murdering arafat? Do these terrorist coddling idiots read this stuff before they say it?
  • rejoyce
well, that was the point of the second link I posted.

You have a base that is split and one side is really fired up. But that side is small in terms of percent of populations and easy to paint as radical.

A middle ground democrat could make great hay of this situation.
  • Presidents Cup
Did you hear? Since the Americans won the Presidents Cup Trophy yesterday, the plan is to now change the name to the "Obama Cup."
  • thank you
    http://www.worldpoliticsreview.com/article.aspx?id=4435
  • Bush punked for the 4th time since '02!
Nobel Prize Committee punks Bush for the 4th time since 2002!
World savior, one who sits at the right hand of God,a hero amongst hero's, Gunga Din Bush took a seat in the back of the bus for the 4th time since 2002!It's gotten so bad for Hop-a-Long George that it's become very painful to sit these days!
With Carter in '02, Mohammed ElBaradei in '05,Gore in '07 and Obama in '09 the Nobel Committee has heaped pile after pile of hot, wet, steamy cow manure on Bush. The decision to award Obama the Peace prize was another in a long line of punches below the belt to Bush, and at the same time an expression of the world's deep-seated contempt for the "Cowboy without a horse!" from his phoney dude ranch in Texas! Punches well deserved though!
  • Red Leader
    hear, hear!!!
  • True snark
Wish I hadn't been driving this morning, but there was a recent poll about the registered voters and how many were likely to vote 2010. Just like I've been saying, the Obama supporters are just not fired up and are unlikely to get out and vote this time. So hopefully we'll gain at least enough to hold down the damage.
  • Nobel (Ap) pease prize
Did you hear Obama won the Heisman trophy this weekend? He watched the ball games this weekend!
  • Good Morning, my fellow terrorists!
What a load of hogwash. I guess Democrats are allowed to say anything they bloody well please now, no matter how erroneous or insulting. If wondering why on earth Obama got the peace prize for having done nothing but set half our country against each other, and signing a bunch of bad bills makes me a terrorist, then so be it. Put my bad self on the list.

I will never, ever vote for another Democrat. Not even to get rid of a Republican who sucks. I will remember the mess they have made of this country at election time. Not that the Republicans have a better track record.

I will do what I usually do...vote Libertarian when there is a candidate, Republican when there isn't. This insanity has got to stop.
  • The Mandate
I don't know which conservatives are blasting Obama for this. I think Mr. Dolan just wanted to take a moment to get out his "I hate conservatives" feelings. I hope he is feeling better and can make it through the day now.
Conservatives (and, by the way, some liberals as well), are upset about the committee's decision--which means that our frustration is directed at the Nobel committee, not Obama. This is the same committee that handed out the prize to Yasir Arafat, yet never gave it to Mahatma Ghandi.
There is one important aspect to this award coming so soon in his presidency. President Obama does not have a solid mandate for a lot of his ideas among U.S. citizens. So, the Nobel committee decided to create a European mandate for his ideas. From this point forward, as the president makes various decisions, each U.S. citizen should ask, "Who is he listening to? The American people or someone else?"
  • Kåre Kristiansen
Not all of these guys are total leftists.

In the wake of Arafat's prize, one committee member resigned in protest.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kare_Kristiansen
  • Enough is Enough
I can't stand listening to others trying to trump your arguments on what the Nobel Peace Prize stands for. If you don't bring back the Rockettes on today's show I am going to turn on my music, instead of the Neal Boortz show.
  • I knew it...
The Democrats have hired Monica Lewinsky as a 'special consultant' to the Whitehouse. How else do you explain all of this. I guess you could say she's the 'Head Czar'. Thanks you, I'll be here all week. Don't forget to tip your waiter.
  • Diplomatically
i was taught as a kid not to accept praise for something you didn't do. or not to accept the blame for something you didn't do.

if he was a real man, he wouldn't have accepted it.

but, of course, he's an american politician............
  • rejoyce
By "jackass" I meant - how the majority of the world viewed GWB compared with Obama.

They viewed Bush as arrogant, dimwitted, and corrupt.

They view Obama as the polar opposite.

I think they're both wrong. Bush did a lot of good things. And Obama is no peach. ( http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/columnists/andrew_sullivan/article6869291.ece )

but, as it relates to this award, Huck is right that the GOP does itself no favors by clucking about this.

If your opponent is thrown a 500lb weight, you don't point and laugh. You just look like a jerk. Esp if he lifts it over his head.

and yes, Huck - I'll quote the truth wherever I find it. :-) Even Hucksterbee.

Because, this is where you're headed:

    http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/archives/individual/2009_10/020383.php

and that aint good for anybody.
  • Less Fortunate Donation
I'd like to see President Obama put his money where his mouth is by donating his $1.4 million prize to the less fortunate ... that is, after taxes.
  • this devalues the nobel
If Obama could win the nobel PEACE prize, then Bush should have won it. Both have the same exact identical war agenda, and both believe America should police the world and provide military welfare to other countries to the tune of bankruptcy while America's border remains wide open. Both believe in protecting borders abroad rather than at home. And both are giving blood thirsty muslim fascists all over the world a reason to unite against America, with the convenient and efficient recruitment tool that is American military presence on THEIR land. Both Obama and Bush believe in attacking 3rd world countries that have no capacity to retaliate with any military force and pose no threat to America whatsoever. Its official, the Nobel peace prize is a scam, and ironically rewards people who oversee and cause perpetual needless wars. If anything the prize should have gone to Ron Paul for making the argument that America should start acting the way the founding fathers intended, which would include not getting entangled in the internal affairs of other nations.
  • Mmmm, Mmmm, Mmmm
The prize is such a joke anyway. The only people that give a d*%& are the socialist media outlets that can plaster the mesiahs face all over their publications again. This will also put pressure on the annointed one to pull out of the middle east. Can not wait till 2012! Lets all chant together, Mmmm, Mmmm, Mmmm!
  • btw snark
    Huckabee????
  • but but snark
    another jackass WAS elected!

I can't say we elected another cause I sure didn't vote for him...

    Greg, another great post.
  • Peace Prize
I am happy that our President got something for all that polite bowing and scraping before his european hosts during his european joy ride this past spring.
  • Neal is concerned about political discourse?
For the last few years if you said we shoudln't be in Iraq you were told you were unpatriotic, didn't support troops, didn't love America, and a whole host of other things. Funny how neal had no concern for what political discourse looked like when it was on the other side. Every day just more evidence of his hypocrisy.
  • He could have said "Thanks, but no."
He would have scored points with everybody by refusing the prize. The leftist kool-aid drinkers would have been talking about what a noble (pun intended)gesture it was. Those of us who prefer filtered water would have had no room to criticize.
  • huck was right
    http://www.huckpac.com/index.cfm?Fuseaction=Blogs.View&Blog_id=2842

I dont think anyone disagrees that this was partly a message to America to say thank you for not electing another jackass.

But who cares? Obama won this for what he represents, not what he's done.

make him live up to it!

and as huck says, quit your whining.
  • ALL he did is win this award
This is where I think conservatives are nuts. Not only in the crazy unicorn beliefs they already have, but when the other party does something, conservatives cry like a 5 year old no matter what the circumstances are. Obama only was given the award. You cannot be mad at him for receiving the award. And all the comparisons are ridiculous. He just won an award. That is all. Quit crying conservatives and try and win ANY award on your own.
  • They didn't give him the award for not being George Bush, they gave him the award to pressure him into getting out of Iraq and Afghanistan and for other foreign policy decisions they'd like to see.
  • Worthless
Rush & SNL played it right; award the superbowl championship to a team, now; award the Heisman, Oscar, Beauty pageant awards, etc., to "aspiring children" for their potential future.
Of course, our man-child president is much more dangerous to this nation and citizens as he promotes Spend, Borrow, Spend; Usurpation of the Constitution; Deference to the UN; Gov't control of the Private Enterprise; Unionization of American Workforce; OPEN Borders; Amnesty for Illegal Aliens; Gerrymandering on a non-citizen census; loss of public and personal freedom; and the growth of government, its control and the oppression of its citizens thru taxes, policies, fees and mandates.
  • NBPP (No Bush Peace Prize)
I know too many words (sue me)

Despite my disdain for President Obama, I have to commend him on how he accepted the award. Diplomatically I do not see how he could refuse it without causing a huge uproar. He readily admitted he did not earn it for his accomplishments. And yes he did spin it to try to gain as much advantage as he could from it. But hey he is a politician.
  • DNC Communications Director, Brad Whorehouse
Thanks for the name-calling, Brad. No, really, It's okay! In the last nine months, the American people have become accustomed to being called names by our government such as "terrorists", "right-wing extremists", "nazi's", "brownshirts", "racists", and a "nation of cowards" by your Democrat buddies. There is no leadership in this country. The American people have NO leadership. All we have to represent us and our country is a collection of childish, lying, name-calling, corrupt, thuggish, thieving, crooked, sell-out, hypocritical, anti-American leftists. That's it. Who needs terrorists? Who needs AlQaeda? The Democrats are doing a fine job all by themselves.

Attacking America one day at a time....
  • Winning the Prize
It appears that the committee that passes these prizes out just gave Obama a $1.4 million contribution toward his re-election campaign. Somehow, they disguised it as an award for his "accomplishments." Even ol' Hugo the Horrible down south says that he doesn't deserve it (that loon probably thinks that HE deserves it).
And the way Obama was "surprised" makes this whole thing seem more like a Publisher's Clearing House prize delivery like the ads on television.
What a sad joke this award has become.
