There's always the chance that a caller-more-brilliant-than-I will come up with a surprising story .. .and we'll go off on a tear; or there could be some amazing breaking news (Obama singing the praises of freedom, for instance) .. but right now these are some of the things that are on my radar for today's show:

  1. George Will is telling you in a column this week what I've been telling you for five years ... give the Democrats control in Washington and they'll make so many Americans dependent on government that they'll never lose that control again.
  2. Democrats are moving the some of the costs of ObamaCare off the books to protect Obama's pledge not to raise our deficit one cent to pay for his government takeover of health care
  3. Obama has professed his fondness of Communist student groups and Marxist professors while in college. He appointed an avowed communist to be his "Green Jobs Czar." Now we learn that Anita Dunn, the White House Communications Director has a favorite philosopher .. a Communist responsible for the murder of 70 million people.
  4. Balloon Boy. Actually, the story tag should be "Balloon Man." I just love the way the kid exposed this fool on national television.
  5. It really is looking like there's some pretty strong cheating going on amongst the administrators of some Georgia government schools. You just can't get these one-year improvements in test scores any other way.
  6. Ann Compton from ABC News actually agrees with me! It should be called the "government option," not the "public option."
  7. It was a really big deal in the media when we found out that the Republicans made some fashion choices for Sarah Palin. Now we find out the Obama White House did the same with Justice Sotomayor. This time, though, it's not really a big deal in the media. Now why would that be?
  8. $1.42 Trillion. That's the deficit for the last fiscal year. Does that figure mean anything to anyone?

Thanks, President Obama, for making this job so easy.

Democrats aren't waiting to pass ObamaCare. The destruction of our system of health care in this country is already underway.

What others are saying

  • re: drug policy
What would legalization of all recreational drugs give us? More people trying them? More people dying of them?
How about this: Real competition in the marketplace.

Now, it may not have been true a hundred years ago, but nowadays we have quite a lot of technology on our side. Street drugs are generally dangerous, but there's no alternative because the general policy is that no company would ever invest in the safety of that class of thing, because "if it makes you feel good, it oughta be illegal"

What would full legalization give us? Simple: within five or ten years, all drugs would be completely safe. No one would even think of using "street" drugs, aside from stupid teenagers whose parents won't let them.
  • my previous post was for Big Joe Williams
sorry, my bad... read the wrong name on the thread...
  • @ GalaHGL
One good thing about Obama -

He announced this week that the Federal law enforcement agencies will no longer pursue persons who are, in accordance with state law, legally dispensing or using marijuana. This is a victory for those who favor 10th Amendment State's Rights.

    Amendment 10: US Constitution-
"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

Seeing as how the Constitution doesn't grant Congress authority to tell people what they can or cannot consume, that is a power delegated to the States. This is in direct opposition to Bush's policy of "I don’t care what your state law is, I'm going to do what I feel like doing because my base is scared of drugs. ...except the ones that we tax and/or manufacture."

Now, if only the President would apply this same wisdom to all other aspects of the Federal government, and delegate all responsibility to the States. If it doesn't involve treaties, waging war, maintaining a defensive military, or securing our borders, it doesn't belong on Congress's docket. The Federal government should not be spending money and resources it does not have to usurp the rights of the People or the States.

#7. It was a really big deal in the media when we found out that the Republicans made some fashion choices for Sarah Palin. Now we find out the Obama White House did the same with Justice Sotomayor. This time, though, it's not really a big deal in the media. Now why would that be?
    =============================

Easy... The RNC dumped 100k+ on Palin's wardrobe from high-end stores. Sotomayor had a handful of outfits (six I think is what I read), and the WH simply recommended which one they'd prefer her to wear. That's a world of difference, and isn't worth reporting. The fact that Palin was sporting 6k worth of clothing on her back while giving speeches during a massive economic collapse was almost a slap in the face of the average American. We saw Biden in a button-up shirt and khakis, probably $200.00 worth of clothes, juxtaposed to Palin's expensive wardrobe. That was the story.
  • Anita Dunn can’t be a maoist, she’s not wearing a mao suit.
It must be a baseless smear.

Some Georgia school students are at least getting a how-to (and how-not-to) education on corruption.
  • Has anyone seen Falcon? How about his crazy uncle, Mike Hawke
I went off the deep end initially and speculated that Falcon could be mixed up in a sewer system somewhere in Colorado thanks to Mr. Science's temper, his knowledge of chemistry and easy access to a bathtub. No body found over X distance on a wild balloon ride = solid alibi for The Weather Man. That was when it was being said that the “parents” saw Falcon get in the balloon. We get news of strange but true crimes every day, so I find myself thinking in bizarre worst-case scenario terms like that quite a bit now.

Naming babies is tough, I know. Thankfully, some smart people intervened when I considered names like Wood, Rock, Creek, Rapids, Meadow (wait, I still like that), Mountain, Eagle, Spider, etc, etc. But Falcon? WTF? I understand names like Falcon if your last name is Hawke. Falcon beats Mike in THAT case as if like Mike owes it money. Seriously, what is wrong with Mike Heene? Falcon Hunt rather than Mike Hunt, yes. Falcon Heene instead of Mike Heene? Why?

1.42 Trillion, eh? Whaaa? No, doesn't mean much to me after my own contemplation. But I have enjoyed reading and seeing explanations like this: http://www.pagetutor.com/trillion/index.html and this: http://www.tysknews.com/Depts/Taxes/million.htm and this: http://www.grc.nasa.gov/WWW/K-12/Numbers/Math/Mathematical_Thinking/how_big_is_a_trillion.htm
  • huh???????
    Joyce M/B?????????????

    two wongs makin' a white??????????

    ain't gonna happen........whaaaaa????

    neber mind.......
  • Moving health care costs off the books
Remember when the Bush administration kept the costs of two whole wars off the books to make the defecit numbers more palatable?

    I do.
  • SAT
To the principal that made Algebra II a requirement for the SAT - good for him!
This is just plain common sense.
  • Cats must not have good vision.
The article you liked to, Catseye, is typical MMFA you did it first garbage. Just because you put Bush, Goldwater, et c. in the same sentence with Mao doesn't mean they are praising him. The article clearly states these people were citing Mao's political tactics to advance American conservative principals. They are not saying that Mao is one of their favorite philosophers. Anita Dunn is a communist.
  • CAN ANYBODY TELL ME JUST ONE GOOD THING ABOUT oBAMA?
I tried this yesterday and never got a serious answer. So I'm gonna try it this way...

If you voted for obama or still support obama, please answer this question for me:

Can you name just ONE good thing about barack hussein obama?
  • Last night, I saw the speech where obama said he is cleaning up our country "with a socialist mop!" with a big, stupid-looking drunk smile on his face.

Lord, I wonder how much longer the CIA, FBI and our military are gonna let this anti-American, radical muslim, illegal immigrant communist attack and destroy our country? How much longer? Are they ever gonna stop this maniac from destroying our country?
  • Brian Fantana is really Jimmy Dolan!!
Has anyone else ever noticed these posters say the exact same thing in EVERY post?? Crybabies, conservatives crying, Bush did it, wah wah! You aren't fooling anyone, whoever you are!
  • moving some cost off the books for "o-care"
It seems "figures don't lie, but liars figure" applies to item 2.
  • More conservative hypocrisy
There is a big difference in quoting a simple phase from Mao and Anita Dunn calling Mao one of her
    favorite Philosophers.
  • Re: 'Obama singing the praises of freedom, for instance'
Good one Neal, The chances of that happening are about as good as the Statist looters being honest about their real agenda for the country.
  • Idiot
Hey Brian Fantana. Have you heard about the TEA parties? Have heard about all the town hall meeting where yor Fascist Democrat congresspeople are getting dragged over the coals over this stupid government health care take over? Or do you just watch CNN?
  • Catseye
    More conservative hypocrisy

for a comprehensive list of conservatives who have invoked Mao in a favorable light, with specific quotations and source references.
    By Catseye

Then they should be called on the carpet too, it certainly does NOT excuse Anita Dunn. Two wrongs don't make a right. And this administration has an over abundance of this type of thinking in their ranks. But that's probably ok with you huh?
  • I'm Brian Fantana. No you're Brick.
If democrat moochers would go to work instead of putting their hands out they wouldn't have time to go around with ACORN agitating bums to vote for their meal ticket.
  • Conservative Hypocrisy
It really seems as though one of the favorite rebuttals of the left is to say, "Well, you did it first." All of the talks about how Bush started this mess, and Obama is working with what he was left with is absurd. Bush was lambasted for doing things that Obama is praised for. It really is quite baffling. I did not approve of the bailout when Bush initiated it. I did not approve of his loose fiscal policy. I did not want to begin the war the Iraq, but I supported it once there because I have many close friends who risked their lives serving our country. Honestly, I didn't like a good many things about Bush. Likewise, I did not support Obama continuing the bailout and passing the “stimulus” package. I do not support his attempts to dismantle the American economy. I do not agree with him surrounding himself with known activists and placing them in positions of power, nor would I if it were a Republican in office. The "you started it" claims are getting tired, and frankly I find it rather hypocritical to demonize Bush's spending while heralding Obama for doing the same thing.
  • @ Ann Compton from ABC News actually agrees with me! It should be called the "government option," not the "public option."
    Why not the Pubic option?
  • government ?option?
I read enough of the bill to realize option is the wrong word. Mandate comes to mind.
  • More conservative hypocrisy

  • Balloon Boy
I'm actually tired of hearing this story.
  • Pt. #5
I taught in an Atlanta area high school about 10 years ago. Our SAT scores radically went up from one year to the next because the principal barred any student who had not had Algebra II from taking the test at our school. It was so funny how the county administration and the local papers praised our principal for "turning the school around".
  • Balloon Boy
Exposes his dad's duplicity by being honest. Kids say the darndest things! But I'm afraid of how Santa will treat young Falcon this Dec.25th.....

Also, who on Earth names their kid "Falcon" ?!?!
  • Your list
    yuck

Kinda hurts to see it all out there in one place.
  • Again, crybabies do nothing
So all of these points, and there are no crybaby conservatives doing anything about them. All I read is wah wah wah this, I dont like this, the other guy got elected, wah wah wah. If conservatives spent as much time working rather than crying than maybe they would get some people in congress these days.
