What others are saying

  • Who was he apologizing on behalf of?
Who was he apologizing on behalf of, the Fox News network or the Democrat political machine, that has a system-wide policy of not granting interviews to Fox?
  • Well, that sounded silly!
Corzine has been asked for an interview (multiple times, apparently). He hasn't responded. Any "lack of balance" is the fault of Corzine and his staff. Smith's comments and his apology were both unprofessional and foolish.
  • What a DouC He bag
    Subject says it all
  • LOL@Webwench!!!
yeah and you know I'm always late...
  • Does Shep have the authority?
Does Shep even have the authority to apologize on behalf of the whole network? I wonder if his bosses appreciate the apology or not....
  • 4pm cut off
    man, i've got ya'll trained, haven't i?
  • reace
FYI Ace, it's a rare day I comment on the reading assignments (too many topics in one location)

I did reply to you in the original comment board for your ever persistent question (that I keep answering quite well actually and you keep dodging)

who was that guy asking for his $2 a while back? Lane Meyer?

    Anyway...

Since you dont seem to understand how our govt works or your still stinging from your own federalist papers supporting the idea of judicial review, please - how's about you explain to me how this works.

I've said - many times - we are a representative republic with three equal branches of govt, checking each others power all derived via the constitution, which we (as in We the People) wrote.

So, we can agree that the federal govt needs money to operate, yes? And we agree that we are not a democracy, yes? So, through our elected representatives we vest in them the power to make decisions on things like tax policy, yes?

And we rely on the SCOTUS and the power of the veto and the executive as a conduit for the people to protect the power we vest in congress along with our vote, a free press, and the freedom of speech.

which is why I say - we get the govt we deserve.

you seem to think "moochers" can vote away your property. OK, they can vote for a person who may or may not be able to change the law. But, it takes a lot of them (reps, not people).

damn...it's 353...you prob wont see this until monday and wont resp until then

nvm - catch you on the flip side
  • Shep is still a putz...
After his complete meltdown in New Orleans, all I can think of is that he has some 'damning' evidence on the producers of his show..otherwise, he should have been tossed out a long time ago.
If he had control of that show, it would be an absolute mess and about two shades to the right of that ultra-moron Keith Olberman at messyNBC.
Shep, those of us who are true conservatives are truly, truly tired of you...please take your ball and go home!
  • Yesterday's discussion on Frau Botox's “Healthcare” bill (since snarkybird won't respond on the reading assignments posting)
snarkybird Agreed with the statement that: we have a duty to turn over our private property to the government no matter how much they want.

snarkybird Doesn't see the obvious contradiction of the government having an unlimited right to your property and by extension your time and efforts, not matter how much property time and effort it needs.

But no worries according to snarkybird, we still retain control of our property, our time and our efforts by the vestiges of our One Vote and the limitations placed on the government by the Constitution.

However, snarkybird forgot that part of yesterday's discussion was on the wonders of JUDICIAL ACTIVISM whereby a leftists judge can simply eviscerate rights set out in plain language and create New rights out of whole cloth.

Plain language rights such as Free speech the right of the people to keep and bear arms.

And creating the Right to healthcare and other claims on everyone's time and property.

Snarkybird failed to explain how we can keep control of our property in the face this chicanery by the government.

Again, according to snarkybird , your right to your property, your time and your efforts is protected by the vestiges of your ONE vote.

Examples were also provided of people who voted based on the plunder they would receive.

Your ONE vote that can be easily overridden by votes from thousand to millions of other voters who can chose with their votes seize your property, your time and your efforts.

Again, snarkybird doesn't see any danger to the Republic with people being able to vote themselves property from others and a political party that is all too willing to enable them to do so.

    Why is that?
  • OK Snarky
I wasted 5 minutes of my life watching the daily show piece...Jon Stewart is so infuriating I couldn't finish the segment. I am surprised someone hasn't knocked out his teeth...he is such an ass that gets laughs through flat out lying. No honor at all in that guy.
  • retwisted
    LOL!

dude...it's called comedy for a reason.

    lighten up. sheesh!

although, I thought the whole point about Fox reporting on itself as the "some are saying" "so and so is being accused" was spot on. But, humor always has a kernel of truth.

    Pop.
  • @ Steve
I have not seen the video yet and will when I get home but I lean more toward your assessment because I believe Shep is fair. He works there so I think he knows more of the ins and outs of Fox News and will know better than say Fox News compare to MSNBC is not balance. We the viewer are not there but we know that Fox always is requesting interviews from the administration and congress, and democrats. Fox News is center right but it always has someone (who can hold their own) representing the opposite view. MSNBC left not even center left and does not even attempt to bring someone with opposit views and if they do, the person is not well informed or appear not to be well informed.
  • Jon Stewart
has the obamamedia co*k leash around his neck (and it still fits loosely!).
  • I have a headache
One toke over the line sweet "Jeebus" (sorry snarky) :)
  • Daily Show??
Ok, I watched about 7 minutes of that Daily Show clip Snarky posted.....what a waste of time.

Definitely designed for the lowest common denominator...aka liberals. And, definitely not where you should be getting your news from.

If that's where you get your ideas and opinions from, Snarky, that explains a lot.
  • Fine, I'll say it
He may be a little left of center, but I think the Fox Report is the best newscast in America. It's one of few programs that Fox can point to as being truly balanced. So simple - just report the news, with no advocacy journalism, no commentary, and no "soft bias" by omitting stories. Yet CNN and MSNBC have nothing that comes close, and nothing else like it on Fox.
  • Red Leader & Big Africa
You both nailed it right on the head about Ron Paul not getting coverage. It made me sick how they refused to cover him through the whole thing. The reality is, all news agencies are biased. Fox didn't want to report on him to take votes away from McCain and CNN was reporting on Paul to actually help take votes away from McCain. Sickening to say the least.
  • But Conservatives are right!
So you should be glad there is bias so you can keep your head on straight!

Yeah, I'm being biased and sarcastic and I know someone will take that and run I DON'T CARE! I have a headache going through that damn pelosi bill....

    BITE ME
  • Shep
How many kids does Shep have?
  • Watch it Shep.
One step off the reservation and they'll destroy you.

Snark, I saw the piece you posted from Daily Show last night, and it's the biggest indictment of the bias of Fox News I've ever seen. But of course no one one this board will look at it because they will just dismiss it out of hand. "You get your news from The Daily Show? Really?"

"Many a truth is said in jest." Look it up.
  • sarcasm is awesome
It seems some just can not understand that was total sarcasm. I love it, find it hysterical. Sarcasm in this rediculous politically correct world is becoming a lost art.
  • See ya, Shep
Shep Smith needs to be fired.

The reporter explained that Corzine has refused several requests for interview by Fox News.

If the Democratic side refuses to grant an interview, that means the Republican side must accept being silenced?

    That's not Fox News fault.

    Shep is apologizing for what???

Don't let the door hit you on the way out, Shep.
  • My Guess...
Is that Shep's contract is up soon and he's auditioning for BSNBC or CNN where he'd feel more at home. As for Fox not being balanced, this is a calculated strategy by the left. As was said, either ignore or deny requests to appear on Fox then turn around and accuse them of having bias. Brilliant. It's like on O'Reilly the other day when they ambushed Grayson and Grayson wouldn't answer anything except to tell them to make an appointment. Well, they made several appointments and have yet to be contacted for an interview. But you know what? If Fox has a conservative balance, hurrah for them. The left is upset because they don't have 100% control of the media and are ticked because Fox asks the tough questions...of both sides for those keeping score and based on their ratings, this seems to appeal to a majority, make that a vast majority of viewers.
  • @Red Leader
Thank you! ....how balanced can the news really be if they cannot even cover who is running for president? Paul was in the presidential race right until the end and Fox simply tried to pretend he wasn't and tried to shut him out of debates, despite the fact that he was the ONLY conservative running in the race. Hannity was just as bad. And just think the GOP will need to be WAY more aligned to the Ron Paul (constitutional conservative) vote in the coming elections. Its going to be an interesting next few years if they want to win.
  • how timely
    http://www.thedailyshow.com/

    "For Fox Sake!"
  • Yummy
I've never tried it, but I've heard that Bream is good to eat. I'd like to try it one day...
  • Fox is not balanced...
...just look back to the 2008 election and see how Ron Paul was treated. It was like fox was trying itself to help the government expansionists win the election. They tried their best to marginalize the constitution...
  • shep
Maybe sarcasm, but misplaced. If I were
in charge? Where did that come from.
  • "If I'd had control it wouldn't have happened"
Hmmmm, that could be taken a few ways.
  • Balance
shep, like the balance from Mathews, Keith O, brian, katie, . . . rather, walter . . for years and years. If they don't respond, hard to interview them.
  • Shep
If he was trying to be sarcastic, it didn't work. It's nothing more than fodder for the Fox haters. His show is the only one I refuse to watch on FNC. I don't like his delivery or his style and I sure as hell don't appreciate comments like he made in April of this year on Fox's online show The Strategy Room.
  • Shep
Not as good as the interview of "Empty Chair" during the campaign but it still made me giggle...FAN FREAKING TASCTIC:)
  • Sarcasm
    is truly a lost art.
  • Shep
You know, I always thought Shep Smith was just a pretty-boy airhead, but he really seems to have jumped the shark since his meltdown during Hurrican Katrina. What a freaking idiot!!! I bet he's just upset because he doesn't get invited to the cool kids' cocktail parties in Manhattan anymore, so he feels he has to prove to them he's not REALLY a Fox News conservative. You can be sure, if the Obama administration is speaking out against Fox News, the idiot leftie sheeple in Manhattan are following suit.
  • Shep Smith
Don't get me wrong, I know Shep is a bit left of field but I detected a bit of sarcasm there. Maybe I am wrong but that might be the case in this one guys.
  • Sarcasm anyone?
Folks, he was mocking those who say Fox is not balanced in their reporting. Well played Shep!
  • Shlep Smith
John Stossel should get one of Shlep's hours
  • Shepard Smith
I'd like FOX alot better if they'd dump that tool!
  • Shep the shill
What an absolute putz. Did he actually expect they'd have an interview ready with Corzine?? Idiot.
  • "Lack Of Balance"
LOL Oh please....The only 'lack of balance' I see in Shepard Smith is him teetering on that rod stuck in his ass. Fox has been asking Corzine to come on for weeks and he's either declined or ignored them every time. And Shepard Smith knows damn well that's the case. He probably just wants to work for MSNBC and figures he can get himself released from his contract if he acts like the petulent little lefty that he is.
  • Smith is a ding-dong
Sheppard Smith is nothing more than a pretty-boy talking head. To have him decide on what should or should not be covered is laughable. Stick to reading the teleprompter,Shep. You'll come across as much more intelligent.
  • Shepherd Smith's "Lack of Balance"
I guess I don't see the problem. All Fox can do is ask Corzine. If he refuses interviews (taking cues from the White House) what is Fox to do? It seems to me if the politicians are refusing interviews, they are the ones lacking balance.

    Shepherd is weird!
  • Shep
Lack of balance? She just said they've been trying to talk to Corzine. Maybe he
just doesn't want to talk to Fox. Get
down off the cross, there Shep.
  • Why does he sound so sorry?
He should not be. The stink over Fox News will not go away, even had he had "balance."

The fact that liberal douchebags refuse to appear on Fox News is not something that the network has control over.
So in conclusion, the left will try to make their views on Fox News a self-fulfilling prophecy, i.e. Don't appear on Fox, Fox therefore only has one side of the issue, now we can scream and moan.
