"When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men living together in society, they create for themselves in the course of time a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that justifies it."

This headline really says it all: Harry Reid is shopping for reelection insurance.

Here's an explanation as to why a health insurance mandate will make people worse off. And you thought this was all about your health?

John Kerry says that Gen. McChrystal's request for more troops is too ambitious. Since when are we letting John Kerry dictate our foreign policy?

Our pay czar has extended his reach to now include 525 second-tier executives at the seven companies receiving "exceptional assistance" from the government.

Could it be that one reason Congress has performed so poorly is because, for 100 years, its members' compensation has been totally unrelated to their performance?

Nineteen states are now making moves to reassert your rights as individuals to make decisions about your healthcare.

The New York Times thinks that our economic problems could be solved by more economic stimulus from the federal government.

From Pravda ... America is slowly moving from a country of capitalism to a country of socialism.

Chicago is going to pay bounty hunters to rat out businesses that cheat on their taxes.

Do you remember the Cash for Codgers program? Obama and the Democrats seem to want to make that a reality.

I'm sure you've seen this list by now ... what if Bush had done that?

Now here's a presidency you never want to be compared to: Jimmy Carter.

The Northwest pilots who overshot the airport by 150 miles have had their licenses revoked by the FAA.

"Damn it feels good to be a victim"

You can decide if this is a good thing or not. Studies show that most women end up looking like their mothers.

And for you men .. if you want to ensure marital bliss .. marry a woman who is smarter than you and at least five years younger.

Hey, it was worth a try.

What others are saying

  • ECC
However I disgaree that conservatives would not vote for him. EVERY conservative I know would support Newt over Huckabee, Palin, Jindal, and the others cureently being talked about. Only Romney seems to have a strong aas support.
    By East Coast Conservative

Against those choices, yes you are right, most conservatives probably would vote for Newt. But then as you have said before, we would probably lose the moderates. And the conservatives that hold his affair against him. And his support on the climate debate is shameful. Which is a real disappointment but I hope he can at least help with the design of another contract with America type recovery program. That is where his real strength lies, and where he can do the most good.

No, I hope we find someone else to put forth.
  • Kerry was the dp nominee for POTUS in ’04.
The dp/msm thinks he’s qualified, which is much scarier than he is (he’s really kinda pathetic). Remember, the 40,000 troops for the Iraq surge was too ambitious for kerry and the dp. They shut up about Darfur since the end of the Iraq surge, which tells you what their interest in that was all about. I expect they will probably resurrect their “redeploy” to Guam or Okinawa idea from ’04. For them, the war we are currently fighting is never the right war, we should always be somewhere else.
  • Newt
"He would maybe make a good president but his past would keep a large percentage of conservatives from voting for him, so that would probably result in another term for Obama."

You may be right about the best candidate still being unknown.

  • So I guess that makes Frank more of an American.
    NOT

Carlos stood up for what he believed and protested the war. You did the same and served. That makes you both Americans.

Harping on someone's military record does not accomplish anything. We appreciate everything the military has done of course. But anyone fighting against the government takeover of every phase of our lives is serving us as well. And that is what you should be focusing on. To serve in the military and then support socialization of our republic is in my view, treasonous, but that is just my opinion.

You are contradicting yourself is my point.
  • re.Frank
This chickenhawk thanks you for your service, but that does not change the fact that John Kerry is a fool and his plans for Afganistan is a formula for another Vietnam.
  • Carlos the Chickenhawk
    Carlos,
    Parris Island Nov-Dec '66
    L Co. 3rd Bn 8th Marines 2nd Mar Div.
Marine Barracks, Gitmo Bay Cuba '66-'67
    H&S 3rd Bn 26th Marines and
    E Co 3rd Recon Bn - 3rd Marine Divison-
    '67-'68
Navy Hospital - May of '68 till medically Retired For Injuries as a Cpl. - July 22,1969
So you and Boortz did serve together in the Yellow-Backboned Chickenhawk Brigade! Birds of a feather really do flock together, right Carlos?
  • Newt
East Coast Conservative, let me correct your statement about Newt.

    whose conservative credentials WERE solid

I used to have huge respect for Newt, that was, until he started doing commercials with democrates pushing the global warming scam and started parrotting other RINO's that the era of Regan is dead.

We tried running as democrat-lite, it was called John McCain, and, as predicted IT FAILED. It will always fail because true conservatives will not compromise their principles just to win an election and democrates will always pick the real democrat over democrat-lite.

If the Republicans had used their 6 years in power under Bush actually being conservatives, ie, shrinking the size and power of the federal government, PERMANANTELY lowering taxes, reigning in government spending, placing conservatives judges in vacant positions (over 100 appointments never filled), welfare reform, tort reform, etc, then they would still be in power today.

Instead, rather than trying to please their constituents, they listened to the New York Times and tried to play friendly with the Democrates, and we see where it go them.
  • re.Frank
Didn't serve with anyone. Spent my time ducking the draft in college and protesting the war in Vietnam.
But my brother came back with a wounded right hand and permanent hearing loss stating that the politicians would not let them win or let them go home. It was a meat grinder over there.
I guess that kind of thing is what you want, Frankie boy.
Oh, by the way, from the tone of your comments, you must have served bravely somewhere. Enlighten us brave one.
  • Newt
He would maybe make a good president but his past would keep a large percentage of conservatives from voting for him, so that would probably result in another term for Obama.

    Rush who?

I think the best candidate is as yet unknown and won't appear until after the 2010 elections. Believe it was O'Reilly that said it was considered bad form LOL!
  • "Finished up at"
    Jubilation T. Cornporn,
What do you think the talkmaster is trying to tell folks about his college education when he writes in his bio:
"finished up in '67 at Texas A&M?"
    What does "Finished up" mean?
Cornporn, speaking of Kerry, with whom and where did you serve?
Carlos, the way you talk about fighting, you must of served with the talkmaster, right?
  • John Kerry-Too stupid to learn
The Vietnam war was lost from being too timid to win. Kerry's formula of adding a few more troops to Afganistan will only allow the Taliban to ratchet up their efforts to match and kill more Americans. The man is a fool. Either send in a massive force and wipe the Taliban from the face of the earth or get out now. No more Vietnams, no more pointless deaths of brave American soldiers.
God I hate wimps like John effing Kerry.
  • John Kerry needs to be given a rifle and a hard hat and put on the firing line ...
Perhaps in the position of having to duck real bullets (instead of just blistering invective) will change his perception?
  • Congress isn't being paid what it's worth ...
If, as Mr. Rahn asserts, Congress is a job that pays so poorly, why is it that people spend millions of dollars to get one of those jobs?

The Congress of the United States represents the best politicians money can buy.
  • Pravda Article
That is a terrible article. If that is a philosophical look at America's capitalist system, it must have been written by a middle school child. Incoherent, illogical. I am now dumber for having read that. Why would you link that article in the reading assignments, Neal??
  • You don't know diddly-squat until you have a college degree
... and once you have a college degree, you do?
  • Smarter
    Define smarter, will you?
  • Congressional Compensation
My dream for representatives and senators: Go ahead, run for election and win. On arriving in the country's capital, you will be assigned a bunk in the barracks provided for your status in the Congress. You'll take your meals in the Congressional Mess Hall and you will be entitled to 30-days leave per year, which you'll probably want to use for campaigning. Since everybody in America is putting on weight, use of Congressional limos will cease. You may ride a bicycle that the taxpayers will provide for you, or you may buy your own. Of course, walking will always be an option.

    More to follow.
  • GOVERNMENT WITH CAPITAL "G"
I want the Government out of our lives; out of bailouts for companies. If you fail or they fail, deal with it and grow up and take responsibility for yourself. Mom, I know I'm 40, but can I move back in - "HELL NO!"
  • Re: Our pay czar has extended his reach to now include 525 second-tier executives at the seven companies receiving "exceptional assistance" from the government.
Okay, Boys and Girls, can we say “Slippery Slope”?

Remember, the Statists think the OWN the country so there isn't any aspect of your life they don't think they have a right to control.
  • Now here's a presidency you never want to be compared to: Jimmy Carter.
Comparing him to Jimmy is Racist! It is all Bush's fault anyway.
  • Congressional Pay
Their pay needs to be tied to performance. How about GDP with pay cuts for deficit spending?
  • John Kerry
My guess is he's being positioned for VP in 2012. Joey B. is just too old to last until 2016.
With any luck it'll be a moot point and "unnamed Republican" will win in '12.
  • Does "years of schooling completed" measure intelligence?
    Don't think so.
  • Now here's a presidency you never want to be compared to: Jimmy Carter.
For someone so anal about the proper use of the word "racist", you'd think he'd know what the word "compare" means. "Compare" means to examine the differences between two things, yet we've somehow redefined it to mean that two things are the same. To be compared to Carter should mean to highlight the *differences* not the similarities and that would be a good thing.
  • Carter
"Now here's a presidency you never want to be compared to: Jimmy Carter."

I have no hesitations comparing Barack Obama to Jimmy Carter.

That also means we can nope for a repeat of 1980 in 2012 with a Republican landslide like Reagan's defeat of Carter.

That is why I have been so adamant about the fact that our party (Republican) needs to grow up, ditch Rush and company, and get some good candiates out there and get our message out starting now.

Unfortunatly, after seeing what's happening to Newt (whose conservative credentials are solid and who was making our case long before any ever heard of Sarah Palin), I am still fearful that the extremists have too much control and we'll end up with a ticket with Palin, Bachman, or some other wacko.
  • Waywaard pilots..
I do not understand why these two yahoos have not been fired already. What is the airline waiting for? A spokesman said yesterday the lives of the passengers were not really in jeopardy. Oh really? Hurtling along in an aircraft at over 500 miles per hour with no one up front paying any attention to where that plane was or if there were any other aircraft in the skies with them? Not in jeopardy? I strongly dislike frivolous lawsuits but I hope one of the passengers who was on that plane sues the airline...at least get those to so called 'pilots' fired and put them in a job where their inattention to detail or 'losing situational awareness' cannot harm anyone...perhaps a job in congress?
